LIM WEEK 57 COLOUR - NEUTRALS

This is an amusing post to me.  If you look back on all ten years' of cards via Smugmug, you might notice a conspicuous absence of brown.  Browns are not even close to my first choice when thinking of colors.  Yet here I am, knee-deep in neutral shades of brown.  Yesterday I decided to enter my first Papertrey Ink (PTI) card and if you scroll down below this post, you will notice that it is creams and browns.  You might wonder, since the PTI challenge wasn't to use creams and browns, why did I?  Well, because my first purchase from PTI was paper.  Rustic Cream and Vintage Cream among others.  I also bought the Fine Linen polka dot ribbon, which I heart very much.  The paper is so awesome that I placed another order and, since I was woefully lacking in browns because I rarely bought it, I decided to purchase both the "Fine Linen" and the "Dark Chocolate."  What have I been thinking?  Suddenly, I love the shades you can get with browns and, of course, it's always a good standby color for masculine cards.  Doh.  So I happily posted a neutral card in browns yesterday for Nichole's Make It Monday challenge.

This morning I went to the Simply Less Is More site to see what our challenge would be this week and chuckled to find that it is "Neutrals."  With all my supplies close at hand, I created this:

I hope you like it!  This time I embossed one of the stamps from the Stampin' Up! set "Good Things Grow" with their dark brown embossing powder.  I masked and stamped the sentiment so it became two separate words, added the ribbon, and voila!

Have a great Saturday!  I'm off to check out the other LIMette's fabulous creations ...

Enjoy!

Paper: PTI Dark Chocolate and Fine Linen
Stamps: SU Good Things Grow; sentiment SU unknown set
Ribbon: PTI Fine Linen Polka Dot; Richard's $1 bin dark brown organdy
Embossing Powder: SU Dark Chocolate

Your first couple of sentences of your post made me laugh out loud, because the first couple of sentences of my LIM post is the exact opposite of yours!! I LOVE brown and all the shades in between so I was raring to have a got at this challenge! Too funny. Love you take on this, that stamp is yummy and I really like the ribbons too. Jealous of your sunny weather, it's 32F here, windy as all heck and intermittent snow showers all day, great day to stay inside and craft!

Hugs

What a beauty Darnell! You seem to be quite at home with these neutrals. Isn't it funny how our tastes in colour change - I used to be repelled by purple but am quite drawn to it these days!
