I hope you are having a sunny Sunday! We are overcast with coastal fog here. Keep that in mind when you look at my outstanding photography below.
I'm playing today in another favorite challenge I have missed. This time, Michele is challenging us to make a clean and simple masculine card using designer paper. Most of the players are making Dad cards and I am no exception:
Mister is away on a motorcycle ride, so I was able to sneak a thingie from his tackle box. I always found it amusing that the full name is "fish and tackle box." Yet all the times I have good-wifedly sat on the bank, I never once saw Mister tackle a fish.
And while we're at it, why is it called a bank? Because sediment is deposited there? I'm proud of that answer and now a bit sad that Mister doesn't read my postings. You see Mister is a geologist and he would grin to know I was paying attention back in the 1900s when we fished, before he concepted that it wasn't for him and he turned to motorcycles as a hobby. Nevertheless, sweetly, he keeps that old tackle box in case one day the twins want to try fish tackling. (Or, ahem, the Mrs. needs a fishing embellishment.)
If you haven't played before, you should check out CAS-ual Fridays for a fun challenge site! This challenge is being sponsored by the extraordinary
One more thing about the card I made and fishing and words. Did you notice the funky way I made the corners? Didja get it? I "angled" them because fisher dudes are also called "anglers." Because first you angle your way to the bank and then you line up your tackle.
Now yesterday I gave you the Word Of The Day. I don't plan to do it every time, but I checked today and I'd like to know which one of you has connections with the person at Google Headquarters who decides what word to use as the Word Of The Day. Speak up! Because I like smart alexs, and someone picked the perfect word for me.

ReplyDeleteI'm just catching up, so, I'm glad you're back - looks like a fabulous time and maybe a tradition to start with my 3 sisters (I already get together once a year with one of my sisters, who lives further away). LOVE your LIM flower-pot card - the shading is great and the mousey is so cute! And your fishing card is fun - I'm glad you explained the angled corners - I completely missed that detail - and I think your fishing thingy could be a pretty earring. In fact I thought it was at first sight! Lol!
ReplyDeleteLove the fish tale today! Great use of the tackle thingy, angles, and fish paper.
ReplyDeleteHey!!! I have a fishing geologist too!! After I've seen your cute card, he's going to have to guard his tackle box!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great masculine card, the fishing theme is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteDarnell, this is just so clever and creative. I love the fish theme, but the lure (I think that is what it's called) is just over the top creative. Thanks for playing along with us at CAS-ual Fridays this week!
