Less is More Week 72 Theme ~ Something Shiny

Happy Father's Day!!

To mark this special day, I made a quick card to enter in The Mandi and Chrissie Less Is More Week 72 (Theme week) challenge.  The ladies would like to see "Something Shiny" and they've made awesome cards to inspire us!

I have lots of shiny charms, chicklets, and crispers.  I even have buckles, buttons, and biscuits.  I dumped a lot of it out onto my desk and set aside This and That.  One of the shiny brass buttons with an anchor on it caught my eye.  My eye caught my brain and helped it remember that I bought some cool nautical Stampin' Up! designer paper off the clearance rack not long ago and this is the result:

I hope you will get a chance to play along with this great challenge, or at least have time to check out and comment on the wonderful cards the players have made!

Some of you were concerned about my beautiful pansies in the very hot weather yesterday and rightly so.  The White Purples looked pretty sad at 5 p.m. and 106 degrees  ~

~ but the Yellow Purples were still perky!

Usually the pansies are history by this time as summer approaches.  I have no idea why they are doing so well, but I'm loving every day they're still alive to splash the garden with their happy colors.  Thankfully, today is supposed to be ten degrees cooler!

Enjoy!   We're off to celebrate Father's Day with the Hairs Apparent.   Hope your day is wonderful!  As always, thank you for stopping by to visit.   Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Paper:  SU white and DSP "Nautical Expedition"
Stamp:  SU unknown set
Ink:  Marvy cherry
button, pop dot

Edit:  Some of the comments suggest that some of you think I STAMPED that ship image.  I don't want you to think that.  In my post and just above, I mentioned that it is from the Stampin' Up! nautical designer paper, but it seems that I wasn't clear enough, sorry.   All I did was cut the ship/circle out of the 12x12 piece of paper and adhere it to the white cardstock.

  3. Wow Darnell, this is fabulous!

I tried making a card for LIM earlier, using gilding flakes for the first time - the craft room needs a good vacuum now and the resulting efforts went in the bin :( Oh, and everything I touch is sticky from glued up paws - not a good day!

I did the snippets roll call today and mentioned your playhouse so you might find some little playmates trying to break in - or at least sneaking a good old peek via the internet :)

You did a great job on the card! Di xx

  18. What a great Father's Day card! That image is fantastic, and your little button is the perfect finishing touch!

I gave up on pansies awhile back. They just don't last long enough. Although, in planting them in the fall, I was able to get them to thrive all winter and into the spring once. Who knows?! Yours are beautiful, though! They're one of my hubby's favorite!

And thank you so much for the kind congrats you left on my blog! You're a doll!
