This week Jennifer at Styles Ink is hosting the fabuloso One Layer Wednesday (OLW) challenge. We are to make a thank you card for a teacher. I'll give mine to my "teacher" at Curves since I don't have any knee huggers in the house.
I got the cardstock paper yesterday at a local stamp store that is sadly closing. I hope you can see how the pencils are embossed and sparkly! To cool for school! I punched out a piece and then replaced it with the sentiment piece, so no worries, it is still one layer. We happen to have a black greenboard still hanging in the garage from when Dan was a lad, so it made a cool background for my photo. I'm just so clever I can't hardly stand it.
Which probably explains what happened this morning. After Curves, where of course I wear my bouncy tennies, I went to have some blood work done. As I'm going back to my car, descending the cement steps to the parking lot, I was (not kidding) thinking about how bouncy my steps were wearing these shoes. "Why, I'm like a spring lamb on these steps!" I thought to myself.
Not! I missed the next one and tumbled arse over teakettle down three or four steps. I ended up flat on my back and for some reason I straightened my bent legs so my legs were straight up in the air. Like a dead cow. What the ...? A very nice young woman came immediately to my rescue, but I was fine. Nothing broken except for that giant chip removed from my vanity.
I've got two skinned shins, two skinned knees, a sore right shoulder, and one skinned wrist and palm. You have no idea (well, prolly you do) how thankful I am that that's all that was injured! I came straight home and ran a hot bath. Aaah! The lesson I learned today is that I am not a spring lamb, even wearing bouncy shoes, and I should only wear bouncy shoes on a bouncy platform at Curves. Oy.
I'm delighted to introduce you to a new follower today. Her name is Elaine (EELS) and her clever blog is Craftee Owls. Welcome, Elaine!
Please enjoy ~ and, as always, thank you for stopping by to visit. I hope you all stay on your feet today! Special
thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Oh dear, you poor spring lamb coming a cropper! Hope your aches and pains heal quickly! Love the shine of the pencils on your card!
ReplyDeleteLovely card Darnell, like the embossing. Hope the bath helped and that you are not too stiff in the morning - poor you! Anne x
ReplyDeleteYour card is absolutely PERFECT for a teacher! So...should be begin to call you ....Grace? You know...since you're obviously so "graceful" and light on your feet! ROFL! Seriously, I'm glad you only "really" hurt your pride! My first thought would have been...did anyone see me!?!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your fall! I hope you're not sore tomorrow. Cute card idea with that cutout/replacement. Always sad to hear of a stamp/scrap store closing.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant card - I hopped here after your lovely comment when you came over from Victoria's blog (are you still with me? I'm not!).
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't laugh at your mishap but you do have a way with words - and it reminded me of another story for my Tuesday Tales.
And I LURVE your playhouse - just fabulous! I bet the kids in the snippets playground would manage to wreck it in no time for you :)
Have a good weekend, and thanks again for calling by.
Di xx
