I had so much fun doing today's card. First, one-layer cards are a favorite of mine and always a challenge. Good for keeping the brain tuned up. This week there are two one-layer card challenges, from two wonderful websites.
In no particular order, there are three hostesses, all well-respected and well-loved. We have the One Layer Wednesday Genius, Susan over at Simplicity, and the Champions of Challenges, Chrissie and Mandi over at Less is More.
Susan's OLW96 challenge is make a one-layer birthday card with LOTS of bling!
The challenge from C&M in Week 76 is also a one-layer card and it must contain three of anything: three colours,
three images, three stamps, three words, the number three.
I had to take a minute to amuse myself with that cartoon hand. When you want to indicate the number three with your fingers, do you hold up three index fingers, or two index fingers and your thumb? I do three index fingers, so to me, it looks like someone is having fun with us, holding up two fingers for the number three. Never mind.
Second, as you know, I have a "thing" for frogs. As you don't know, I have a new Penny Black stamp set of froggies to use.
Frogs and bling and one layer, oh my!
This was made up of two different images from the frog set. Then I took the cake image only from an SU stamp that has the cake and next to it the words "May your layers be many and your frosting be thick." I don't know what set it comes from, but it seemed to fit perfectly in the little guy's empty "hands" (?).
This is what I would imagine having triplets would be like if they were made up of two boys and one girl. I think she would grow up to be tough and resilient, with a great sense of humor. And a third eye, always on the lookout!
When the twins were first born, it took a household of Mommy, Daddy, Papa, and Bama to attend to all their little itty-bitty premie needs. Mommy and Bama on the home front (Mommy doing 99% of the work), Daddy and Papa in the weeds making the bacon. Every time (most of the time) we felt truly overwhelmed, one of us would say, "It could be worse. It could be triplets." We couldn't even imagine what that must be like. The brain shuts down completely when you try to imagine more than three at one time. God bless.
So we'll stick to three funny froggies, a surprise birthday party, and LOTS of bling! You end up with a goofy card, the best kind.

I'm off to revitalize my patio pots. I'll take before and after pictures. Here are the new plants ready to be potted for our garden delight. I hope they like it here.
Enjoy! As always, thank you for stopping by to visit. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

For a moment there I thought the right frog had roller skates on... this is what happens when I glance at your card out of the corner of eye while typing in the comments box. They do look happy froggies!
ReplyDeleteFantastic image - as if it were made for these challenges! Love all the bling, and your shading on the frogs is subtle, but so perfect!
ReplyDeleteEek! I love it. Those three frogs are so cute. Fabulous coloring. :) ann Y.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, your LIM is definitely my favourite. Love those PB stamps and your colouring is perfection, in my eyes. We had one in the garden this year (frog) but it was a little under the weather, maybe a cat worried it. So Mr. bought me a frog garden ornament - love it. Crafty hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell,
ReplyDeleteLove this! It's one of my favourite PB sets, and the only sort of frogs that I like.
I love the little guy with the cake, and the look on the middle one's face is priceless. Have a great week. xx
Fabulous card and live that you have carried the three into the embellishments too. Triplets makes me shudder at the thought lol. Hugs, Amanda x
ReplyDeleteThis is one fantastic card, Darnell! I love those three and that terrific cake too! Gene makes the sign for three this way. He's got what we call big meat paws, and there's no way he can show a three "the right way (IMHO)". You should see his Fred Flintstone Feet!
ReplyDeleteHa! Those frogs are fantastic! The two boy frogs look like they're saying, "Oh no, not her again!" I love the colouring and the blingy bits.
ReplyDeleteThe frogs are darling.
ReplyDeleteTaking a break from washing the floors throughout the man floor of my house...my reqard is 10 minutes on the competer as I finish each room!!!
I have hardwood floors so I have to sweep or vacuum them first, then wash carfeully under the funrniture (ugggh) and then rush through the open spots (YAY).
I have earned my break...fun to visit and see this card!
super cute card, darnell! love those frogs are just too cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card, Darnell! Those frogs are adorable and they are so beautifully colored.
ReplyDeleteFor as far back as anyone can trace our family tree the oldest girl in every third generation had twin girls. Thankfully I broke that tradition by having boys, one at a time. I couldn't see myself with twins, I now the people in the white coats would have locked me up if I’d had triplets.
Hope your plants do well.
Hugs
Bernie

Great card there Darnell and I too have a thing for frogs, having been nicknamed Frog by my brother due to the way I used to sit when I was little (I wish I could do it now)!

ReplyDeleteLove your frogs and bling ~ great coloring on the frogs. I have a thing for frogs too ~ my son's nursery was decorated with a frog theme, so we still have lots of frogs around!
