ATS #2; ColourQ #152; FMS #50 = An Assignment (CAS), Specified Colours, and a Sketch

Anew Monday!

It's a bank holiday, as my British friends would say.  We usually stay home and off the bumper-car highways on this Labor Day, a day set aside to honor the hard labors of our four fathers and four mothers of generations past and present.  Our neighborhood is having an afternoon get-together which will be perfect!

Yesterday, after hours of much-needed gardening, I made a card for three challenges:

1.  Addicted to Stamps CAS challenge #2.

ColourQ #152:

3.  Freshly Made Sketches #50 "A Sketch by Lesley" which is fun and ideal for CAS:

And here you go:

My focal arena is a rub-on tree from SU which rubbed very nicely onto the two pieces of cardstock butted up next to each other and secured on the back by a piece of tape.  I'm not sure that the colors are clear, but the leaves are both green and gray, so all the colors of the ColourQ challenge are covered, even though the aqua looks more blue-green than green-blue in the photo.  I love anything with trees or leaves and I love how this turned out, especially after my klutziness the day before.

~~~
I forgot to show you my photo of the blue moon I took on Friday night with my cheesy little camera.
I hope you got a chance to see it, wherever you were, because there will not be another blue moon until July 31, 2015!   It's called a blue moon whenever there is a second full moon in a month and it is rare, hence the expression "once in a blue moon."  If you didn't see it in person, now you can say you saw it!  (It's not really the color blue and it does beg the question why did "they" decide on the color blue, and who was "they" who made that decision?  I'll provide the answer on the next blue moon.)
~~~

Do you get Bizarro cartoons where you are?  This guy is a nutball and karacks me up!!

Enjoy your day, whether it's a holiday where you are, or not.   MAKE it a holiday wherever you are!!  As always, thank you for stopping by to visit.  Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Paper:  SU crumb cake, white; Bazzill
  aqua; unknown green
Stamp:  SU rub-on "Bright Delight"
Pop dots
Cuttlebug - EF, bark; MB die, grass

That is a great tree and I love how you put it onto the two colours! Great take on that sketch, too - love the grassy bits!

Ha, ha, when I saw your blog header today I thought you were swearing.......your card is beautiful Darnell, I love that tree. The cartoon is just too funny, we get cartoons in our papers but they are generally about politicians - so not very funny at all......Crafty hugs, Anne x

That blue strip really makes this pop and I'm really impressed with your rub on. I always end up leaving something behind. And that's on the little ones! Great card, Darnell! I did see the blue moon. It was big and bright!

Hi Dippy - love your take on this card.....didn't know SU did rub-ons (well they don't over here) but this is gorgeous, with that great piece of grass and the embossed card behind - lovely and perfect for our challenge over at ATS this week. Great photo of the blue moon....I thought it had something to do with my other half who only does something once "in a blue moon"........hehe! Love the Bizarro cartoon - new one on me - strangely that often happens to me when I stand in the middle of a room and I don't have his presence!

Hugs.

I'm going to hold you to getting the explanation on the reason for calling the second moon a blue one...Fabulous card and I love your grass at the bottom, what die did you use for that, love the look of it with your tree, just so beautiful on the white and blue card stock and that embossed background. So many wonderful details that make this card amazing. Love that sweet comic too.

I love this card, Darnell! The grass and embossing are fabulous.
I did see the full moon. 'Who was THEY?" is a question my son would ask all the time when he was little. Most often when it came to learning the spelling of words.
LOVE the cartoon, what's with the piece of pie under the bed?
Hugs
Bernie

Beautiful take on the sketch and the colour challenge. You even included a tree (and it's a rub-on?). Very elegant.

I recently heard the story about Blue Moons, never realized where that saying came from. You took a good photo of it. Have a great week, Shirleyx
