LIM Week 83 Colour ~ Brown and Pink; Pixie's Crafty Snippets Challenge 36

Hi, it's Thursday!

I had such a long post yesterday, I'm going to keep this short and sweet today.  Those of you who know that's impossible for me, please have a cookie.

I don't really like the color brown all that much, although we have become more friendly the last couple of years.  Brown always thought I was too perky and shallow.  Sort of pink-like.  Well, wouldn't you know it, the clever lady-team of Mandi and Chrissie chose the colors Brown and Pink for this week's Less Is More color challenge, and quite pretty they are together.  All four of them!

We'd love you to display our banner

There are TWO great sponsors for this challenge:

I'm running late for linking up with this challenge, but there is still a little time if you want to join the fun!

Here is my simple card:

I used the smallest flower pot Nesties die for my brown vase.  I used two punches, one from EK Success, one from Marvy, to make my flowers.

I used several shades of snippets in pinks for my flowers and, because of that, I'm linking my card to Pixie's Crafty Workshop for Snippets Challenge 36.  BTW, our Miss Di, the Head of School, is off campus, so now's your chance to come over to the playground at Pixie's and help us build the tree house and/or engage in other assorted nefarious shenanigans! (Boy, do I have an urge to tell you the origin of both of those words, but not today.  I'm sure they'll pop up here again.)

~~~
What I'd like to talk about today are Gerber daisies.  I have two pots of them and I've never had them engarden before.  I've been tardy with the dead-heading and yesterday I noticed this:
They look like they may be in the dandelion family from the way they've gone to seed in big airy puffs blowing everywhere.  Does this mean that my whole yard will be asprout with Gerber daisies next year???  Oh, yes, please, I do so hope so!
I had a lovely lunch yesterday with two friends.  Well, the lunch wasn't that great, so let me rephrase that.  I had lunch yesterday with two lovely friends.  I'm glad now that the lunch wasn't very good so I could parsley my sentence and emphasize what's really important.
Enjoy this special day you're in!  As always, thank you for stopping by to visit. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!
  1. Oh my! I love this card, Darnell. Those flowers look so pretty atop that brown vase. I have that flower punch, too. Yippee!
    I planted gerber daisies in pots this year for the first time. I dead-headed them faithfully and they never really rebloomed. Maybe it's just a little chilly for them to thrive where I am.
  3. Hi Darnell, I am not a fan of brown either but brown and pink do go fabulously well together. Your card is beautiful. Love your Gerber daisy (we call them Gerberas over the pond here). Crafty hugs, Anne x
  9. Well that is the second brown and pink card I've encountered in a row today. They both inspired me in a pink and orange (don't ask!) swap.
    I wouldn't mind hearing the origins of both shenanigans and nefarious, especially the latter. I always like hearing word original, although mostly I don't remember them so don't call me for any game shows!
    Interesting about the gerber daisies turning to fluff. They are so pretty, pre-fluff stage, although the fluff era isn't too bad either.
  13. I love this sweet card ~ having more than one shade of pink and multiple sizes of the flower punches really adds a lot interest to this card. This is something you would expect to find for sale in a boutique. (Your darkest pink flower matches your lovely daisy almost perfectly!)
  15. Love your card, Darnell! Your placement of all those flowers is wonderful, I know it took time! Gerbers are my favorite! Having the black thumb of death myself, I've never seen them to this point. I hope they live on!
