I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! We had it all here, beautiful weather, family time, photo ops, and corn in our underpants . . .
First, a card. A card that turned on me, like a pet alligator. That happens. I'm rushed and a bit unsettled. I start a work project tomorrow that will last until the first part of November. I will stop in here when I can, but I know it will mostly affect my visits to your blogs and my comments and I'm sorry about that. I like coming to see you and I'll miss it, but I'll be back to visiting you before you know it!
I'm entering three wonderful challenge sites in Bloggerlonia today. In Alfa Betty order, one is called Challenges 4 Everybody. Don't you just love that name?! I do. Everyone is welcome at any time, no matter what, nor who you are, nor what you've created. Mwah! They are sponsored by Digi Darla.
The second is the fun Dynamic Duos, where this week they are searching for Design Team members, so especially get in there and get (l)inked up if you are interested, although you're welcome to just come in and play with the colors:
I love and use a lot of old olive, but not too many tango tangerines are in my craft bag. I was happy to find a half a sheet and a scrap of it, however, yippee, which meant I could also link up to Pixie's Crafty Snippets challenge 41! I hope you use snippets and join in!

And now for a photo journey of our weekend for those interested. Grab a beverage if you're coming along . . .

After the soccer game, we provided snacks:
Mister wouldn't let me use this table for obvious reasons! I didn't have the heart to tell him he shouldn't be sitting there either!

An aside. We only had one child, a son, and he only has twin sons. As a result, I know nothing about little girls, but I took this picture for those of you who do. I don't believe it needs a caption, but I do believe that's a delightful girl child. And there were other princesses to be found on this weekend . . . stay tuned.

Below you can see why Henry was elected President of the local chapter of the "Dirty Bug Club." Here, he displays how a boy should properly look after eating a small chocolate ice cream on a stick. His brother Adam's face was clean as a whistle. Apparently cleanliness is not one of the strands found in the identical twin genome!
~~~
Now we have some fun photos of our visit to the Pumpkin Patch yesterday. Although all these hundreds of pumpkins all looked alike, each and every one was considered in the search to find perfection!
~~~
Below is Mister (Papa). It's like one of those photos you find in magazines where there is a contest and you win a prize for the the best caption! You can pick a caption or make up one of your own!

"I think Aunt Sylvia is trying to reach me on the psychic phone!"
"Don't tell me I could have parked right there!"
"Do I smell a sausage sandwich?"
"If that's your wagon, where's mine?"
~~~
Next, we visited the SCARY display inside the barn. Well, okay, not so scary, but sorta fun because when you clapped, lots of eyeballs started moving, spiders started crawling, bats began to fly, and skeletons started reaching out for you!
~~~
Then, off to the tractor-go-cart track!

And, look here, what did I find? Another little princess right in the middle of the hay and corn!! Was this "Dress-Up-Like-A-Princess" weekend for little girls? Too funny!
~~~
Next, more fun was to be had in the giant raw corn kernel play box! (You thought I was kidding when I said there was corn in the underpants, dinja?!)
Last, but not least, a pony ride!
That's me (Bama) with the boys:
And here are some artsy-fartsy photos d' artiste:
Back home, we washed off the dirt and corn dust with super-sonic squirt guns!
While we were having this fun-filled weekend, their parents were having a memorable time away, so it was all good, all the way around!
Oh, and we can't forget Duke in our digital album!
Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy! As always, thank you for stopping by to visit. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!
ReplyDeleteAnd the little girl in the pink tutu? I have a picture similar to that of one of my granddaughter Kjerstin when she was 5 or so. Having 5 granddaughters, I can tell you they always want to dress as princesses.
Great card for the challenges! Looks like you had a great weekend with your twinks! Most people I know wouldn't be able to sit at the nut free table:)!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fabulous weekend with the boys! Most people I know wouldn't be able to sit at the nut free table either. I enjoyed you pix so much I nearly forgot about your card. :) I love those leaves, great colors.
Hi Darnell, thank you for the photo journey of your weekend. Looks like it was great fun and you reminded me of when our granddaughters were younger and we would take them to the pumpkin patch. They didn't dress up like princess's, but they are sweet like them. (still sweet as young teens, I was a young "Oma")
ReplyDeleteYour artsy photos are beautiful as well and so is your card ! Love the leaves, pefect for this time of year, at least around here. It was surreal to see your grandsons in bathing suits cleaning off the corn ! We had frost here the last two mornings ! Yikes !
I did think you were joking about corn in the pants :) Good Luck with the work and I'll miss your posts if you don't have much time for them. Have fun, Shirleyx ps.. are you writing a book?
I hate it when comments go thru twice !!!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun, fantastic memories. Thanks for sharing. Oh yea your card is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous card Darnell and I LOVE your family post!
ReplyDeleteOMG Dippy - don't quite know why you posted the card........pales into insignificance when you look at the rest of the post! Sorry about that but what with the twinks, dirty bug club, pumpkin patches, Mister and the nut free zone (!), princesses - more princesses, super sonic squirters, the wonderful Bama and really not to be forgotten the absolutely adorable Duke, well I mean to say - think you have missed a trick here.....your gorgeous family are the absolute stars of your blog!!! You've cheered up my evening no end.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely - the colors are beautiful! I loved the photos - it is fun to read about everyone. The photos of the girl children are so cute! As a mother of 3 boys I used to 'borrow' my friend's girls so I could do girl things and I learned early on that the difference between raising boys and girls is huge - and from the start! Boys are 'what you see is what you get' compared to the female traits that little girls acquire already while in the infant stage! Wishing you a happy day! I hope Duke feels better!
Hugs,
Barbara Diane
This is a beautiful card, Darnell! Glad you found some Tangerine scraps. Thanks for sharing your fun day at the Pumpkin Patch! I really enjoyed the tour!
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, Darnell. It looks like you had a wonderful weekend. So many memories. I have not just one delightful girl child, but two, and they have often been seen prancing about town in princess gear! :) ann
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and love all of your other photos too, looks like you all had a wonderful time together and I have to admit I laughed out loud when I read the part about corn kernels in your underpants...looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant card Darnell - love those colours and leaves.
ReplyDeleteSuper photos too - I also laughed about corn kernels in your underpants :)
Hugs, Di xx
Err, not literally YOUR underpants you understand - I'm so goofy at times :( Di xx
ReplyDeleteI'm not too thrilled with those "tango tangerines" either!! But you HAVE used them effectively!!! So glad to see you at Dynamic Duos. (Don't be gone too long with work commitments, I'll miss you!)
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty autumn leaf card and that dahlia is a stunner! Wow!
ReplyDeleteYour weekend of fun reminds me of a pumpkin patch we used to have here just outside of town. We'd visit it every year and it had so many of the things you've captured on your photos! The boys loved it...then, it closed down. :( We haven't found one like it since!
Looks like you had a ball! :)
Great card - the two tone leaves are a wonderful idea! Love the photos too! Thanks for playing with us at Dynamic Duos this week! :)
ReplyDeleteYour card is so pretty, love the leaves. Look at all those pumpkins, I have never seen so many. Have never seen a corn kernel play box before, what fun. Thanks for joining us at Challenges 4 Everybody. Good luck! Sandy :)
ReplyDeleteOK, by the time I got to the end of the post, I forgot what the card looked like, so give me a minute. (Great fun at the pumpkin patch, though!) Oh yes, olive and tangerine! Love how they fit into the whole backdrop you've set up! I can't figure out how you've coloured the leaves, but they're fun!
ReplyDeleteBet the pony ride with corn in the pants was a lotta fun!
