Morning Peepers!
Hope you've had a great week behind you and a great weekend coming up!
I think everyone knows by now that I prefer a clean and simple (CAS) style of card making, while my mind, on the other hand . . .
So it's thrilling to see another new CAS challenge in Bloggorovia! Please check out CAS(E) this Sketch! and join in the fun! I've come to know and love the work of the very talented ladies on the Design Team and I know they will not disappoint us with their inspirational cards designed around their weekly sketches!
Here is the very first sketch created by the fantastic Jackie Rockwell:
I'm twining this sketch with this week's One Layer Wednesday (OLW) challenge witch (get it) this week is sponsored by Cheryl Emery on her wonderful site, A Paperie Journey. Cheryl's challenge for us this week is to create a one-layer card with the theme "Halloween!"
Here is my really scary card on my really dirty deck:
This spider stamp is made from a rendition of the 1031 Aracniate Spider which only appears for 31 days every year. Erupting from sleep underground on October 1st, both the male and female spin webs of neon orange because it is the only color they recognize after their months of in-ground hypernation; also useful because they are a bit cross-eyed and they only have six legs. It's always a pleasure to share these rare biological facts and images with you.
What did the spider do on the computer? Made a website.
In other bug news, our neighbor's house looks like this today:
No, that's not a circus, or a giant bouncy tent for their kids' birthday party. It means they have a termite infestigation going on. A fumé blanc. We asked ourselves, don't termites have legs? Doesn't this mean that a lot of them are scurrying away into neighboring houses? I've never understood the concept of these things, in the bigger picture. The picture that Mr. Rogers had in mind when he started the whole "Won't You Be My Neighbor" idea. Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
What did the termite have for breakfast? Oakmeal.
I'm off to Laundry Mountain.
Enjoy your day! As always, thank you for stopping by to visit. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Hi Darnell, well if that story about the spider is real - and I have no reason to doubt it - then your card is genius!!! Been to Blackpool today (the seaside) to blow away some of the old cobwebs - no pun intended. Crafty hugs, Anne x
ReplyDeleteFab new challenge for cas cards and I love your rendition of the sketch, I was fooled by the story until I saw the spider only has six legs then I knew you were pulling one of mine lol. Hugs, Amanda x
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the sketch. Hope the termites don't decide to move in at your house!
ReplyDeleteA great card for both challenges. Perhaps you should leave it out on the deck to scare away any potential termites!
ReplyDeleteYour spider sounds a bit unique! 6 legs? oh my!
ReplyDeleteHopefully your spider wicks *ss over the termites if they wander over.
Spinning orange spider webs after 11 months of hibernation eh? {cough cough} Girl, you should be making lotsa $$$$ writing your stories :)
ReplyDeleteGreat card and scary thoughts of those termies scurrying over to your house next!
Is that really true about those spiders or is this a Darnell tale? He's cute with his orange webs whether he's real or just for fun! Yikes, termites have wings as well as legs. Hopefully they can't get away!
ReplyDeleteEek!Love this Hallowe'en card! Those orange swirls are perfect with that itty biity spider :) Thanks for playing CAS(E) this Sketch this week!
ReplyDeleteToo darn cute, love those orange circles too, what a fun stamp! Your little spider is so sweet too. We have not had the circus come to visit our neighborhood as long as we have lived here, so I am guessing that is a good thing. But have to agree I would wondering the same things you are.
ReplyDeleteGoodness! I hope the termites stay away. Your card and story are awesome and I'm so glad you played along with the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge!
ReplyDeleteHope your neighbors termites don't scurry over to your house! Great way to combine challenges! LOVE those swirly orange dots and the way you have one spider. So glad you played along with us in our first challenge over at CAS(E) this Sketch!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining us in our first challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch!
Love your take on the sketch. That spider is fab. xx
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you are here to entertain us with your interesting 'facts' Darnell - I love the card, however many legs your spider has! Oh and join the club - I'm another one that likes CAS cards but whose mind could do with a really good spring clean! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteAs I'm enjoying laundry mountain myself as we speak, I have to say that I love how you used that non-web stamp as your web - I love the airiness of it!
ReplyDeletelove Jean's suggestion to scare the termites off! great card, thank you for joining us for our very first CTS challenge ; )
ReplyDeleteI do hope you made it back from Laundry Mountain. I conquered it today as I am leaving for a week and needed underwear! (I might not be by to visit for awhile - sorry - I am visiting a friend who lives in the middle of a national forest without internet or cell phone coverage - can you believe people live like that???)
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful webs and how special it is that you have enough arachnological knowledge to know to do them in neon orange!
I am so glad that you have played along with CAS(E) this skectch! I'll see you again, right??
