CAS(E) this Sketch #1! and OLW #109 ~ Halloween!

Morning Peepers!

Hope you've had a great week behind you and a great weekend coming up!

I think everyone knows by now that I prefer a clean and simple (CAS) style of card making, while my mind, on the other hand . . .

So it's thrilling to see another new CAS challenge in Bloggorovia!  Please check out CAS(E) this Sketch! and join in the fun!  I've come to know and love the work of the very talented ladies on the Design Team and I know they will not disappoint us with their inspirational cards designed around their weekly sketches!

Here is the very first sketch created by the fantastic Jackie Rockwell:

I'm twining this sketch with this week's One Layer Wednesday (OLW) challenge witch (get it) this week is sponsored by Cheryl Emery on her wonderful site, A Paperie Journey.  Cheryl's challenge for us this week is to create a one-layer card with the theme "Halloween!"

Here is my really scary card on my really dirty deck:

This spider stamp is made from a rendition of the 1031 Aracniate Spider which only appears for 31 days every year.  Erupting from sleep underground on October 1st, both the male and female spin webs of neon orange because it is the only color they recognize after their months of in-ground hypernation; also useful because they are a bit cross-eyed and they only have six legs.  It's always a pleasure to share these rare biological facts and images with you.
What did the spider do on the computer?  Made a website.
In other bug news, our neighbor's house looks like this today:

No, that's not a circus, or a giant bouncy tent for their kids' birthday party.  It means they have a termite infestigation going on.  A fumé blanc.  We asked ourselves, don't termites have legs?  Doesn't this mean that a lot of them are scurrying away into neighboring houses?  I've never understood the concept of these things, in the bigger picture.  The picture that Mr. Rogers had in mind when he started the whole "Won't You Be My Neighbor" idea.  Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
What did the termite have for breakfast?  Oakmeal.

I'm off to Laundry Mountain.

Enjoy your day!   As always, thank you for stopping by to visit.  Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

  1. Hi Darnell, well if that story about the spider is real - and I have no reason to doubt it - then your card is genius!!! Been to Blackpool today (the seaside) to blow away some of the old cobwebs - no pun intended. Crafty hugs, Anne x

  4. A great card for both challenges. Perhaps you should leave it out on the deck to scare away any potential termites!

  7. Is that really true about those spiders or is this a Darnell tale? He's cute with his orange webs whether he's real or just for fun! Yikes, termites have wings as well as legs. Hopefully they can't get away!

  9. Too darn cute, love those orange circles too, what a fun stamp! Your little spider is so sweet too. We have not had the circus come to visit our neighborhood as long as we have lived here, so I am guessing that is a good thing. But have to agree I would wondering the same things you are.

  15. As I'm enjoying laundry mountain myself as we speak, I have to say that I love how you used that non-web stamp as your web - I love the airiness of it!

  17. I do hope you made it back from Laundry Mountain. I conquered it today as I am leaving for a week and needed underwear! (I might not be by to visit for awhile - sorry - I am visiting a friend who lives in the middle of a national forest without internet or cell phone coverage - can you believe people live like that???)

What wonderful webs and how special it is that you have enough arachnological knowledge to know to do them in neon orange!

I am so glad that you have played along with CAS(E) this skectch! I'll see you again, right??
