CASology #14 ~ Leafy Greens

Hey there!

I made a card after work last night for this week's CASology cue word challenge:  LEAF.

Melissa says we can make a nonliterate card for this challenge, but I went literate.  I love trees, leaves, and autumn in participle.  If it's not family pictures, the artwork in my home is all about those things.

Okay, so who remembers stipple brushes and brass stencils?  I'll be honest, I had forgotten until I found a leaf stencil in my OCD-labeled "Thanksgiving/Fall" container.  It brought back memories of how a few years back I used to stip my pipple brush in ink and bounce it like a ball over the stencil onto my cardstock.  Here, this will help:

I had a friend who used to use her husband's shaving brush, clean it after, and he was never the wiser!  That was back in the 1900s and we don't do a lot of stippling anymore, leastwise I don't, what with dies and sponges and such.

So, here's what I made by mixing the old days (non-die) with the new days (die):

~~~
I thought you might like to see my miniature flowering maple tree (Abutilon) which is growing and blooming like crazy in these cooler temps, even though it is supposed to bloom in the summer.  'Skwel, huh?
And, haha, because Mother Nature has a preverse sense of humor on display in my yard right now, here's another picture taken two days ago:
Silly hydrangea!  It hasn't bloomed since spring and now that the frost is on the pumpkin, here comes another bloom!  Goofy mixture of spring and fall, but all of it gorgeous!
BTW, preverse is reverse with a pea in front of it.  Or that feeling you get just before you're going to write a poem.  You know, pre-verse.
Before you click off groaning, please do welcome our newest friend, "Neet!"   I get the feeling that Neet is going to feel right at home with us . . . her blog banner name is, ta dum, "Hickeydorums!"  Go see for yourself!  I'm not making it up!
Enjoy your evening, night, or see you bright and early in the morning if you're sleeping right now!  As always, thank you for stopping by to visit.  Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!
  3. Hi Darnell, I can still remember stencilling walls in every room in the house! Yes, I remember brass stencils too and still have a few. Your card is beautiful, lovely stippling there. In all my life I have never seen a maple that flowers - wow, it is gorgeous. Neet's blog is wonderful and she is one very nice lady too. Hope you are not working too hard? Crafty hugs, Anne x
  8. Hi Dippy hun - what a great mixture with old and new methods.....gorgeous effect. Love the photo of your Abutilon although I've never heard it called a maple.....mine has just finished flowering but have to keep ours in the conservatory where it loves the heat (when we get any with this crazy weather in the UK)..... hydrangea it fab as well. So preverse is going forwards rather than backwards? I'll have to remember that one! lol Bet Neet was drawn to your blog by osmosis.....with a blog name like that she's going to fit right in!
    Hugs.
  13. Love the mix of old and new dies, and the tartan border separates them nicely.
    You've obviously got green fingers to coax your plants to bloom out of season.
