We are all SO busy crafting and gluing and cutting and snapping and posting (not to mention shopping and wrapping and baking) and no one can believe Christmas is 16 days away. It all made me want to make up this little poetic ditty for stampers:
Darnell's Ode to Holiday Stamping
As stampers we settle
our butts in our chairs,
This time of year we have
glitter in hairs.
We've snippets and buttons
and scraps we must use,
Cards made this Christmas
come in all rockin hues.
Cards made of ribbon
and cards made of lace,
Cards that are dazzling,
and cards we must CASE.
Cards with white baubles
and cards made with blings,
these are a few of
our favorite things.
And when it's all over
and the last one departs,
We put Christmas away
and start stamping hearts!
~~~
I have been asked by the daughter of a friend of mine to make her 11 fun and funky Christmas cards for her girlfriends, with their initials festooned, if possible. I've made four, so far, and one of them fits these three challenges:
Dynamic Duos is having a mono chrome week and the colors are pinks.
Mojo Monday is ending in mere hours. It is a contest challenge and the fun sketch was created by the talented Carole Burrage.
Using snippets is all you need to do to join in the fun at Pixie's Crafting Workshop where we are at Week 50! This time of year, high on sugar, we are all quiet delinquent and naughty. Hmmm, no. I don't think one can be quiet AND delinquent and naughty. Perhaps a better word would be "quite." Try that.
~~~
At last my card for "K":
~~~
Not challenge-related, here are the other three. First, another rendition of the stampingbella image, this time for "E":
And using a different image for "J":
And boy, was I ever tickled to finally be able to use this fun "V" paper that I've had forever:
I'm off to make the remaining seven, which I'll post another day.
~~~
Before you go, I'd like you to meet Kristen, a new follower who came to the door yesterday. Welcome, Kristen! Your picture thumbnail does not link to your website, so if you have one, please let me know, so I can send you visitors!
And Nancy Lynch, wherever you are, thank you so much for your giant pat on my back a few days ago. I can't find you inside my monitor to tell you personally, so I'm hoping you see this heartfelt thank you!
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your
day. Remember it IS acceptable to send holiday cards after Christmas!! Well, for that matter, heaven knows the postage service can be quite unreliable. Wink. Take a breath. And perhaps a tipple.
As always, thank you for stopping by to visit. Special thanks to you if
you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!
Let me know if you would
like any of the card deets.
ReplyDeleteHow did you know I had glitter in my hair at our Christmas party last night?! They all laughed at me, and then I had to confess to finishing up those ornaments only hours earlier (apparently AFTER i had already showered!) What a great poet you are, although with your ease of writing I am certainly not surprised. Thanks for putting a smile on my face tonight : )
ReplyDeleteGreat poem and super cards Darnell, love the cocktail and initials theme too!
ReplyDeleteWhat though, we have reindeer - seriously? I wondered what I just trod in :(
Hugs, Di xx
Great cards Darnell! Thant image in the martini glass is fabulous! You have been a busy little cardmaker indeed!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, I swear I laugh every single time I come visit you :) That poem is AWESOME. And true. THat's what makes it so awesome.
ReplyDeleteAnd the lateness of my holiday cards...that's why I generally prefer them to say 'happy holidays'. New Year's is a holiday. So is Valentine's.
You amaze me! A poetess also??!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards, Darnell! Loved the fun ditty - is there no end to your talents?
ReplyDeleteLove the personalized cards - they're really fun! And I also thought the poem was adorable (this from someone who's favourite poet is Dr Suess, so you're right up there!)
What a fun ode you've written for us,
ReplyDeleteTo brighten our day, while we busily fuss,
Over cards and letters still not complete,
A mailing deadline we struggle to meet
We thank you Darnell for your words of sweet fun,
And we'll keep this in mind
'til our cards are all done :)
PS. Love the cards you made!
