If you had a to-do list or a list of resolutions for 2012, you can cerharmoniously tear it up. Don't feel bad about yourself. Take a clean piece of paper and write at the top:
2013
and start all over again. There are no grades, only self-forgiveness.

I almost forgot I wanted to show you this. Some of the Christmas cards I made this year had a ribbon image and my friend, Lolly, whose work I totally admire and respect, suggested I share it with all of you. My Christmas card had a "merry & bright" sediment, but seeing as how it's the last year of the day, well you know what I mean, I changed the sediment to be more ah currante for this post.
Here's the beautiful ribbon I got from the giant $1-$1.99 bin at our local craft store:
I cut a section of the ribbon and wrapped it around a piece of card stock, blinging the corners with silver brads:
Here's the back where you can see it is secured with tape that may or may not be of Scottish descent:
And here's the finished card. You can't tell, but the "happy new year" is embossed.
So there's another idea for using ribbons on cards. Dig in the next time you walk by a cheapo bin of ribbons. Notice I didn't say bin of cheapo ribbons.
Since the white card stock used in my card was from my mahoosive folder of snippity white card stock, and since I know Di and all my other girlfriends over at the Playground at Pixie's Crafty Snippets will be lighting New Year's sparklers and drinking them, too, I'm heading over! I hope you can join us!

We get the twins for a sleep-over on New Year's Eve, yippee!! Then we have Stanford v. Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day. Since the twins' daddy got a degree from the University of Wisconsin and another one from Stanford, it's tough deciding which team to root for. Maybe we will flip a coin or, better year, we should just applaud every time N.E. Body from either school does something applaudable!

Enjoy your New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, however you spend them! No, seriously, enjoy!

What a clever and ingenious idea! I will have to scrounge through my ribbon trove to see what is card-worthy. Your card is beautiful - thank you for sharing the idea!
Grat card...I always check out those bins too. I have done a blue, white and silver Snowman wired ribbon like that then put teensy silver heart brads instead of buttons on his belly.
Brilliant idea to use that gorgeous ribbon as the main image piece. And I had to LOL at the "tape that may or may not be of Scottish descent" comment!
Fabulous card, inspired idea! Have a fun New Year celebration! Anita :)
Oh so lovely Darnell, you really have an eye for useful ribbons and distinct uses. Very clever and sparkling sweet. Happy New Year.
Great idea, so lovely card in red. Love it.
Tamara :)
Happy New Year
First, such a fun ribbon idea!!! Love how your card works - sparkles, bling and the coolest way to use on-the-cheap ribbon! Hmmmm...I'm thinking this would make a boatload of Christmas cards!!! You're the bomb! Might have to CASE your idea. Blessings in the New Year Darnell. Bev
Fabulous card and so stinking creative! Using ribbon for the cheapo bin is just too clever and you did an amazing job with it too. So stunning!
I promise you folks, in real life one of these cards is fabulous!! And, am so glad I know the secret - move over and let me into the cheap bin - no way surely, it looks much too grand for that.
Sparklers? Not in the Playground - last time Sarn set her pigtails on fire and Sam had to throw a bucket of water over her whilst Mrs A ran around and shouted for firemen - we ALL love our firefighters!!
Happy New Year you slightly deranged but fun friend :)
Hugs, Di xx
So. Beautiful! I never would have thought of using ribbon that way - brilliant! Love the red and white colour scheme, makes me feel all patriotic and warm inside! lol!
Hi Darnell, Brilliant idea for a card, it's beautiful ! Happy New Year !!! Cheers, Shirleyx ps.. looking forward to reading your blog posts next year :)
Sediments?! Girl, your constant play on words keeps me on my toes all the time! LOL You are the only blogger who makes me "think" whenever I read your words and I LOVE it!
Using ribbon like this is insanely clever and looks very pretty too! Thanks for the info about PCS - I'll be checking that out soon :)
Have a wonderful New Year! (especially with the twinks)
P.S. Go Badgers! Lots of family have gone/are going to Udub, and one even did med school there! Not only that, but Wisconsin really needs to have roses in January! ;) Bev
Darnell I love this you are so brilliant and this card ended up to be so gorgeous! Happy New Year my friend, can't wait to see what you are going to get into during 2013!!
Such a fabulous idea! I love your Christmas card!! Thank you again! And the calendar too - so beautiful. Happy New Years to you and yours, my dear friend Dolly!!
Loll xx
Super duper idea for the ribbon. Must remember that. Now as you have two twinks one roots for Stanford ad the other for Wisconsin . Before you ask, the eldest roots for the one their Dad got his first degree from. Simples. Gosh I like me thinking sometimes!!! Hugs Mrs A.
p.s. Heading over to the playground with the other Mrs A. Tucked under me arm to meet up with the other t wo Miss Di's for a bit of a knees up and some noggin. Cheers!
OMG!!! CLEVER, CLEVER, CLEVER! Never in a kazillion years would I have thought to do this! I usually walk right past 'those bins'. The white stripe and mat on the vibrant red card base really, REALLY showcases the lace image well. Love it!
Oh Darnell, I am so glad I found your blog this year. Such a hoot! Your trick with the ribbon is the bomb! I know I have some sitting in my 'undr the bed' ribbon storage that will work. Must do up a couple for next year before I lose the idea in the muddles of my brain. Enjoy the end of one year and the beginning of another with your twinks!

Wow, Darnell, what an amazing way to use a scrap of ribbon! (I'm pinning this, by the way). Regarding the to-do list, I'm just crossing out 2012 and writing 2013 at the top!

That wide ribbon always looks so pretty and luscious in the store, but when I get it home it always sits because I have no idea what practical way I could use it. Now I know! A card, duh! Well done, Darnell, and I hope you, your family, and the twinks have the best year ever in 2013!
