Happy Happy Monday, a whole new week!
For a whirl now, I haven't had the opportunity to play in the CASest of all CAS challenges, Susan Raihala's One Layer Wednesday (OLW121). Someone will correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I think Susan originated and still reigns supreme in the "clean and simple" genre of card-making. There are now five CASpecialists hosting OLW and this week is Susan's turn. Susan's theme is "Snowy Day."
She left us with a fun link to a site called "Cake Wrecks." We could choose one of the funny cakes, or use a theme of our own. While the cakes were tempting, I had other inspiration which I had to share with you.
You see, every once in while, and especially when she moves, Susan has a purge. When she does, she puts together goodie boxes and sells them. I was lucky enough to buy one. Inside, along with lots of other goodies, was a very lovely set of lace snowflakes!
I've had them a long time now, uninked by me, and I got a chuckle out of seeing Susan's challenge. How perfectly ironicycle!
Lacy snowflakes in hand, I was pondering my design when up on the rooftop the colors dropped into my lap via an email that Dynamic Duos had posted their new color challenge!
Considering that the trend this past Christmas was to use nontraditional colors on our cards, I thought, why not continue the trend on any wintery cards? And who wouldn't adore snowflakes made out of mambo melons from the Island of Indigo?
After this picture was taken, I put a tiny rhinestone in the center of the snowflakes, but I decided I like it better without them, so the lacy intricacies could be the focus pocus. Thank you, Susan (and DD), for unwittingly "making" this card for me!

I am so thrilled today to introduce you to our newest friends! First we have Emily Keaton of My Little Slice of Bliss, so named because Emily really, truly lives on Bliss Road! When you go over to visit Emily and welcome her, you'll notice that she lights up the entire Bliss Road neighborhood with that mega-watt smile of hers! Emily has been blogging since 2010 and that's a lot of past inspiration and tutorials available to you!
Next to Emily, please welcome Tui Nathan of Stampin-Time. Some of you know Tui from her wonderful sketches on the Freshly Made Sketches weblet. She has been blogging since 2009 and when you visit her, you'll see that she also has an impressive resume of awards and creations for your inspiration!
Thank you, ladies! It is a pleasure to have you both at our party!!

And that's a chicken salad wrap today peeples. Unfortunately, I did a butt plant on my icy deck last night. It was still wet from rain earlier in the day and although the temperatures hadn't dropped to freezy, it was apparently cold enough for a fine invisible icy neckbreaker to form. One minute you're up, the next minute you're down. I'm fine, nothing is broken, thankfully, but it did not help my already dicey back. Dicey back, icy deck = naughty words.
And that's not all. At my age, if I stub my toe, I wet my pants. So you can imagine. Trust me, I didn't sit there checking for broken body parts. I hopped straight up like a jackalope before my butt froze to the deck, if you know what I mean and I think you do.

Enjoy your day and watch out for ice! No, seriously, enjoy your
day.
As always, thank you for stopping by to visit. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Sorry to hear of your butt plant yesterday and hope you don't have too many side effects today - other than a dent to the dignity!
Love your card in the non traditional snowflake colours used - fabbylicious!

Loving those colours together for a snowy day - they take the focus off the cold and grey! Hope your back recovers quickly!
Love the choice of colours, lovely snow flakes card.
Hugs Tamara
Cake Wrecks has been one of my favorite websites for more than a year now! Hysterical stuff over there:)
Sorry about your mishap, but your card turned out beautifully! Gotta love those snowflakes!
Beautiful colour combo and very pretty snowflakes. I hope you've not had any morning after effects from your fall - as it wasn't so cold to totally freeze I'm hoping the only steam coming out was from your ears with madness at falling!
Who have thunk these colours would work so well for snowflakes? Hope you recover from you butt plank swiftly!
A gorgeously colourful and cheery card and yup, there's nothing worse than icicles dangling from your bloomers! Xx
Thanks for the warm welcome, Darnell! I love your warm island-colored snowflakes on this sweet CAS card. I hope you're okay after your nasty fall.
Ouch! I felt that fall Darnell!! Hope you're not too bruised.
Absolutely love those stamps and the colours you've used. A beautiful and perfect CAS creation.

Oooh, a butt plant is not good .... imagine you are getting freezing and we are not even cold yet over here...crazy weather. Hope you are OK today though and not too bruised...

Oh Darnell, I LOVE your card and those snowflake stamps. Wish I could find some like that in my unused stash.
Excellent snowy day card and I agree that I would very much enjoy some mambo melons from the Island of Indigo!
Yikes!! That's all you needed (a butt plant)! Your snowflakes are beautiful and I like how you rounded one corner - I never think to do that!
Love those colourful snowflakes! Hope you're recovered from your Bambi incident.
Love the colors they look great in snowflake form. Hope you are ok from the butt plant and not to bruised.
Sandy :)
Fab colours, Darnell, and looovely lacey snowflakes. Hope you're not too bruised from the butt plant ... an ancient remedy if you need one is topical application of Mambo Melons from the Island of Indigo ... and I know you have them in stock if needed! Anita :)
You know I gotta tell you I've had some intense conversations with myself about red snow flakes, and non traditional colors, butt your grounded and inspired so you know what's going on...I'll try to keep up. Be safe my friend and carry on.
Beautiful snowflakes Darnell. Hope you are not sore from your fall. We have 'real' ice around here and I walk very carefully! Cheers, Shirleyx
Oh, you are so very funny. I can imagine you and Kim just laughing away. This card is just perfect--I love those beautiful and lacy snowflakes, and the colors look so nice together.
Darnell, this is just so beautiful and those colors, love how they just fell into your lap too. I love getting stamps at bargain prices too, so much fun!
Gorgeous card, Darnell. I adore those colorful snowflakes! Hope you're feeling better. Ann
Gorgeous card Darnell, with or without gems - I love it!
Sorry to laugh, your slip and landing (did you pirouette too?) on the deck must have hurt - but your description had me sniggering here. Especially having to scrabble up before you froze to the spot - know exactly what you meant :)
Hugs, Di xx
Pretty, very pretty. Glad to hear that your back feels better today, sounds cheaper than a visit to the chiropractor! Wanna hear my funny story? We were X Country Skiing again at the weekend and were traversing down a hill, Andrew stopped to make sure I was ok before turning to traverse the other way down the hill, instead of going straight down, we were praticing technique! Anyway I realised I was going to go past him a bit before I could stop which was OK, but he thought I'd better stop her, she's going to go on past me. So he grabbed me but of course those pesky skis kept going and he realised at that point that I was now going down, and if he didn't let go then he was going down too! True love, he dropped me like a sack of potatoes!!! Had he not attempted to grab me and stop me I wouldn't have fallen, we laughed about it, a lot, I couldn't get back up for laughing so I got very wet!! But I didn't pee my pants, that would've been embarrassing in the snow, just sayin'.!
Hugs
Brenda
The snowflakes are delightful in these colors. Very pretty. ;-) Sorry about your fall - hope your tooshie and your back feel better soon!
I love one layer cards and you nailed this one. Love the row of snowflakes. I did one almost like this for this week's Merry Monday. You might want to go check out the challenge. Thanks for joining us Dynamic Duoe. So glad to hear that you're okay. How scary.
