I love making muffins or cookies and then saying to my family, "Eat that with a plate under it, it's really crumby."
Seriously, why put silent letters in words anyway? I have this picture of the Alphabet Team sitting around the conference boulder getting ready to close up for the day. As they're putting all the letters away for the night, Pete yells, "Hold up, people, there's an extra B here again!"

I took my crumb cake and a piece of soft suede from this week's challenge at Dynamic Duos,
and Chrissie and Jen's sketch challenge from this week's Less Is More,
I used the textured version of the SU! colors, which I like because it gives the card, um, some texture, which seems fitting if you're going to live with passion. I took some neutral flowers from a Hot Off The Press package of flowers and inked the middle one with crumb cake so it would look like a matching decorabre on a wonderful expensive jacket.

I am pickled tink today for a few reasons. I woke up this morning to learn my card yesterday was this week's winner at CASology! I did a little happy dance, imitating Tiny Tim Tiptoeing Through The Tulips, until one of the pictures fell off the wall in the hallway. I'm thrilled to receive the honor!
And I'm thrilled to let you know that Tenia Nelson of Jazzy Paper Designs has joined us. Tenia is a crafter and, whoot, a jazz pianist! We'll be really rocking the cards in the Playhouse, now! Welcome, Tenia, and thank you!
Next, I am so happy to have Stephanie Lanzalotto of My Ink Well join us! You'll see that Stephanie has a stunning heart card of her own when you pop over to welcome her. Thank you so much, Stephanie!

We had a wonderful decadent fattening lunch and a fun time with the twins and DS and DDIL yesterday. The pub had a shuffleboard table, which was a whole new experience for the twins and kept them happily entertained. Of course, who didn't take any pictures? None of us. I mean, all of us. Didn't.
~~~
But I did remember that I had a couple of pictures on my cell phone that I'd taken at an old-fashioned candy store (of all places!) a few weeks back. Here's one that I thought you might enjoy:
Mister commented at the time that I could probably teach a class on motivational speaking. Wasn't that the sweetest thing to say? I smiled, thinking it was a compliment. You know those compliments that hit you the next day when you are alone and you whip around and say to the air, "Wait. What did he mean by that?!"
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your day. LITS!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Playhouse. Special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment or join as a follower!

ReplyDeleteNow we need to come up with a similar poster for our sweeties ... I have lots of ideas :) Lolly xx

Well done my friend on winning! Congratulations and celebrations all round (I had a little win too). Today's card is amazing, loving that base card and the gorgeous flower. Surely hubby meant it in a good way..... Hugs, Annie x
ReplyDeleteA big congrats on your win over a CASology! Love the card you made today it's so clean and elegant . Just love the clean look of this one.
ReplyDeleteYour card yesterday was very cool an dwell deserving. I went to look at the drinks challenge but it closed too quickly for me to get something together for it. That's a very muted colour palette for you today! Love the sentiment though and how true.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Brenda
Congratulations Darnell...you see I'm not the only one ...you continue to amaze and amuse. I thought that card was special. Giggly and chuckles were heard reading about the compliment. You are a HOOT
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your much deserved win over at CASology! Love today's card too!!!
ReplyDeleteThis card is so beautiful in its simplicity. Such a peaceful card. Love that sign! I buy a "B*tch" calendar every year which I hang in my stamp room. It is very similar to that sign and makes me laugh every time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Darnell! I love the serene colors. And congrats on your win over at CASology!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your well deserved win, Darnell! I predicted it was a winner! Love this card with it's textured neutrals and flowers. You are a motivational speaker. You just type your words instead of speaking.
ReplyDeleteYour CASology win is no surprise with that fun card you made. Today's card is beyond beautiful Darnell, hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteCAS perfection! Love the neutral tones and the inspiring sentiment. And congrats on your win...your cards are always winners in my book!
ReplyDeleteHi Dippy - what a wonderful, passionate, CAS card. Absolutely love it. On the matter of you being pickled tink I would suggest it's probably due to the fact you drank your own cocktail that just won over at CASeology - I'd stick to the gin if I were you!!! lol Glad you had such a good time with the twinks - sounds wonderful. I love the photo you took in the candy store. I had a few wonderful moments imagining how absolutely amazing it would be if we could all morph through cyberspace and meet up for a mass "motivate-in" - boy would we show Mister...........!
ReplyDeleteHugs.

ReplyDeleteWow, stunning card there Darnell! Ha, I keep seeing tutes and reading blogs with folk using 'crumb cake' and for some reason it really grates on me! Perhaps it's the spelling?
ReplyDeleteWell done on the win - really deserved.
Mister does like to live dangerously doesn't he - does he have a Death Wish perhaps?

"Less Is More"
I should know by now to put down my coffee when I come to read your posts, but NO, every time. *splutter* Motivational speaking lessons, huh? Mister lives about as dangerously as my hubby. Also, I'm pretty sure I could teach those lessons myself ;)
ReplyDeleteI was STOKED to see you won at CASology - your card was stunning! WOOT!
About the extra letters - for crumby in particular, I always pronounce the B. It makes the kids laugh. They're an easy crowd.
AND after all that, I LOVE your card! THat layered flower is so pretty & perfect with all that pretty textured kraft! (CrumB cake, whatever, lol)
I raise my glass to the martini winner. I guess drinking can pay off. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I saw you won the CASology challenge: congratulations! This card is great and the flower is very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKarin
That photo is hilarious! I guess I think of it as motivational speaking, too. (hee hee!)
