Hi There!
I hope you had an exceedingly lovely weekend!
We have another brand new challenge here in CMBL (Card Making Blog Land)! If you've been blogging your cards for a while, or even just surfing cardmaking sites, you are no doubt familiar with Lesley Croghan and her amazing site Always Playing With Paper. Well, Lesley, discovering that she still had eleven minutes left on Tuesday evenings around 10:40 with nothing to do, decided to introduce a new challenge to all of us. A new challenge with a fantastic Design Team! A new challenge that allows us to build up our stash of birthday cards! As cardmakers and senders, this is something we all need.
So without further adoseydo, the new challenge and link are here: Seize the Birthday. You can find all the exciting deets on the site. This challenge is being sponsored by Whimsy and Stars
Studio!!! For challenge #1, we've been given a terrific sketch to use to make a feminine birthday card. Here is the sketch:
and here is my card:
I really like this sketch and have a feeling it will become a favorite, even though it's more layers than I usually do. I wish I had more of the patterned paper left and I'll be buying more if I can find it, but any patterned paper could work for this sketch. And since I did use the last scraps, I am going to link my card to the fun use-your-snippets challenge always going on at the Playground at Ms. Di's Pixie's Crafty Workshop!
I hope you'll find some craft time today to hitch up to this fun and practical new birthday card challenge and use up some snipperts so you can join in the fun at Pixie's!
~~~
I turned around yesterday after welcoming Maureen to our party and just about missed Ms. Hannelie of Desert Diva. Once again you are in for a treat, ladies! Please go visit Hannelie and you'll be amazed by her wonderful creations! Welcome, Hannelie, and thank you for joining us!!
~~~
I'm feeling a little puckish today, so I'm over and out. You'd think the meaning of that word was along the lines of suffering from the flu and TMI. NOT. Puckish actually means playful, full of mischief! I know, right? Try using it on your coworkers or family in the next half hour.
Along those puckish lines, I will leave you with a picture that I came across on my friend Victoria's blog and, honestly, I can't stop looking at it. I guess it is reaching my inner 7-year-old self because I giggle like one every time I see it. I WANT this dog!! I know the other girls on the Playground have prolly already seen "Jeff," but for the rest of you, allow me:
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your day. LITS!
As always, thank you so much for stopping by to visit the Playhouse. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Laughing laughing at your post and Jeff! Well Darnell what a sweet girlie birthday card, love that patterned paper.
First of all Darnell, I love that card! Layers on this card seem to be just about right-not too much, no froo-froo, juuussst right. Perfect blings. Second, I laughed until I coughed when I saw Jeff. Yep, I'm 7 too. You're the bomb. Bev
FAB card - I've saved STB as a fave and will be checking it out again too.
LOVE your farty dog funny too!

Great picture of the dog.

Great picture of the dog.
The twins must love you - in my experience, boys (maybe girls too?) never outgrow loving toilet humour! I love that butterfly dp - and how you have two (maybe two sides?) that match but are different. I also love how you balanced your sentiment with the two little gems!
very pretty card...and I enjoyed reading your post!
Hi Dolly. Firstly, about your puckishness ...I love the look on Jeff's face - hilarious!! (OK, do I get points for using the word so quickly??!!).
Great card ... love the layered DP. I have so much DP, but rarely use it on my cards. I just keep collecting it :)
I might have to join you for this fabulous new challenge blog ... you can never have enough birthday cards. Thanks for letting us know about it! Lolly xx
Your card is quite a treat! I love the bling you used on your sentiment (so creative!) and your DSP and embossed background are beautiful. I never have enough birthday cards, so the challenge sounds like a good one to try soon. Thanks for the laugh with that sweet doggie...I needed that!
Such pretty papers and beautiful embossing. I really love this one, Darnell.
That dog is flippin' hilarious, and so is the caption! LMAO!! I love your card and that dsp really is pretty with those delicate flutterbys! The rounded corners look great!
I now have a drop-down window for the labels on my blog thanks to you and Di! I just LOVE it - I'm giddy :) Thanks and (hugs) :)
So there I was, at the local coffee shop sipping my tea today after work and I went on to read your post. Luckily I had just swallowed the tea and so did not spit it out across the room. Yes, it was 10:40pm and I did have an extra 11 minutes, so I filled it up! LOL! You crack me up and the you have created a wonderful card Darnell.
Hugs,
Lesley

Actually I don't think Lesley could have had more than 6 minutes on that Tuesday night. She does so much and does it all well!!
I wouldn't know about the "casual" face - I live in a household of men and they are all quite proud of their bodily functions.
Love your use of the sketch - the bright colors on the neutral background is lovely!
Beautiful take on the sketch Darnell, the papers are pretty. If I was lucky and lived in your part of the world, you would be welcome to use some of the papers that I never seem to get to ! The dog's face is funny... have a great day, Shirleyx
Super sweet card, Darnell!

Love your card! The embossing is gorgeous (is that an embossing folder?). Butterfly paper is beautiful. The layers look really, really good!
Now, about Jeff - I howled. I'm quite sure that 99% of us who are commenting are also 7 years old!
Well, #1. Loved your card, great job on it - and I gotta start going with sketches more. So thanks for that one. #2. Loved Jeff too. He's been making the rounds in email as well. I hafta laugh each time I see this goofy look. TFS card & Jeff & sketch & challenge link. Hugs

This is just too darn funny!!! This is the way my little ones at school act, just so proud of themselves when this happens! Your card is so pretty too, I love your choice of patterned paper, I am sure that must be from your incredible stash of paper that I saw in your playhouse.
