Clean & Simple Card Making 2 ~ Day 8 DIY Inkpad; ColourQ #175; MUSE #3

Ello Everyone, it's Thankful Thursday!

 

I enjoy taking a quick second on Thursdays to be thankful for some of the little things that we take for granite.  Today I'm thankful for pot holders.

 

I worked yesterday, so I am D. Lin Quent on my online card class funwork for Day 7.  Just skipped over it, like a da hoppa scotch, but I will go back.  Today I used the technique from Day 8, which was yesterday, and I may be back later with funwork from Day 9 (today) to ketchup.  Whatever, sorry.  So on Day 8, we learned how to make our own inkpads.  This isn't new, a lot of you have probably done it.  I have heard of it, but today was the first time I actually did it.  It works! 

 

The terrific Jennifer Mcquire was our teacher.  I didn't have any felt pads, so (per Jennifer) I used three baby wipes folded over, added ink drops from my SU! reinkers, and walla, an inkpad:

So that's the homework part from class.  For my card inspiration, I wanted to play in this week's MUSE challenge #3, where our Muse is the outstanding card artist,  Laurie Willison.  Here is her gorgilicious card:

I love Laurie's layout and CASEd the two-panel front, with the connecting band across them, popped by the layered square panel.  For my colors, I played with this week's always fun colors at ColourQ.  I hope you get a chance to play along!

You might be surprised to see that I didn't use those amazing Valentiney colors for another Valentine.  Nope I did this:

 

So, there you have it.  My card ended up looking pretty distressed.  Also, it's distressing how difficult it is to photograph distressed cards. 

 

I'll be honest, I don't really like the distressed look (so sorry, Mr. Tim), because, well, it distresses me to think the little card is in that state of anguish.  So sad.  But my baby wipe DIY inkpad coverage presented this way, so I went with the low flow.  Next time I make my own inkpad, I will add more drops of ink.  (It's not so splotchy bleh IRL.)
