I pulled it all together for one final Valentine befitting WOYWW and three other challenges, which makes four, which might be a record for me. I'm posting my card challenge details* at the end.
But first, you might be here to see my desk, which I've decked out in St. Val's holiday finery for you! If you're new to What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday (WOYWW), please click over and our beloved Julia will host you through the basics and get you aquaintiated with how it works.
Here's mine:
I've heard that Valentine's Day is not celebrated to the full in the UK like it is here in the USA, but I'm sending you (and everywhere else in the world) a Valentine anyway and a desk full of goodies! Dig in! We have lovely cool colorful drinks (cranberry apple cider for those who prefer), some delishilish chocco toffees, and a cupcake in a jar! Um, num nums. (More treats are behind the camera, plenty for everyone!) Oh, and there are a few card- making supplies, too, but it's a love fest primarily.
Thank you for stopping along the WOYWW tour! Let me know you were here and I'll return the flavor, gator!

Just to prove I can make a card, however, I made you one of those, too. A simple one-layer easy-to-mail Valentine:
In order to keep it one layer for LIM (link below), I masked the SU! musical background stamp with a punched-out heart and stamped it in red onto my card base. I then drew the outline of the negative from the punched heart with a red marker and ran the card base through my Cuttlebug sheet music embossing folder. I finished it off with a trio of red gems and a couple of corner chomps and now I send it to you through cyberspace with a big juicy mwah!!
~~~
Just in time for treats day, please make room for our newest friends! I'm thrilled to introduce you to Squirrel of Squirrel's Nuts (honest, not making that up!) and Yuki of xiumaiyuki. These crafters have super blogs with more wonderful ideas and inspiration for you to browse through! Thank you ladies and welcome!
*I'm entering my card in the following challenges:
Less Is More (Week 106) ~ one layer card with a music theme
CASology (Week 31) ~ cue card: red
CAS-ual Fridays (CFC89) ~ love song
The first two are self-explanatory, the third you might wonder about. Which love song does the sheet music image refer to? It's the "The Art of the Fugue" by Johann Sebastian (Jo S.) Bach. It's an unfinished work believed to have been started by Bach in 1745. Few but the most enlightened music historians know that Jo S. began this series of fugues (and two canons) as a love song in memory of his beloved first wife Maria Barbara. The work was interrupted in 1747 when Bach got side-tracked by the novelty of a pianoforte owned by King Frederick of Prussian. I mean, who wouldn't?
Thanks for the Valentine Greeting Darnell and likewise to you!
ReplyDeleteYour LIM card is fabbo... I love that background stamp!
Chrissie
ReplyDeleteHi Thanks for the Valentine's themed welcome to the playhouse this week ! We were having the "do you celebrate" debate at scrap club tonight - my DH & I do - cards & gifts given ! A couple didn't at all and the others gave a card only - so the verdict from the UK is - some do some don't !! Love your card too ! Take care Ali #23
Sorry to be late popping over to your desk but I was struck down with the dreaded lurgy on Wednesday and really was quite poorly, in fact I only managed to reply to those who visited me and didn't visit anyone first iyswim. Adore your single layer card. Yes we have to pay more for thicker cards so this is a great way of reducing mailing costs. Thanks for visiting me and cheering me up BJ #36
ReplyDeletethis card is stunning - wish I could think up such designs! love your blog!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! Love the masking and that cool embossing. And thanks for the Valentine's treats! :) Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!
ReplyDeleteHey Darnell, have you heard of embedded embossing? I'm wondering if that would still qualify for the one layer cards, since the embossing makes the whole thing one piece, after all...well, I don't celebrate the V day but that cupcake in a jar looked very yummy! Did you make it or buy it or just receive and devour it? :) I'm going to try out the embedded embossing this week and put it in my WOYWW if you don't know what I'm talking about and want to check it out. :) Deeyll(don't worry about visiting me back if you don't have time, I know the next one is starting up later today)#142
