A ProFusion of Chevrons and Flowers

Happy Sunday Funday Everyone!
I mentioned a few days ago that we have a brand new challenge exploding onto the card landscape!  Called Fusion Card Challenge, it is the hypo of the sis, no, wait, the hippopotomoose, no . . .  here, I'll let Jackie Rockwell explain it in an articulate and professional manner:
THIS WEEK'S HYPOTHESIS:

What will generate the most successful card for the week; the sketch or the inspiration photo or the two combined?

PROCEDURES:

1. Play with just Jackie's sketch challenge.
2. Play with just Lesley's inspiration photo challenge.
3. Or you can create FUSION by combining BOTH challenges into one card.
4. Use the challenge graphic and link back to Fusion in your post.
5. Please read the other considerations on the
Experiment Page before playing along.

~~~
The sensational Design Team and Guest Designers have made cards that are unbelievably George S. and already there have been stunning entries in the linksters.  I have a feeling it's going to get all our inks juicy and that many of us will do two or three cards!  I hope you check it out and play along!
~~~

Co-Inky-Dinkally, this week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays (CFC97) is "Chevrons and Flowers!"  I know, right?!

There is an awesome sponsor this week:

Here is my card.

This time I fused the sketch and the photo.  My chevron image is from the Lawn Fawn set "Interlocking Backdrops," the one where the bricks are laid out in a chevron pattern.  For my flowers, I used Rubber Stamp Tapestry in the new SU! colors.  I withheld a sediment until I find an owner; other than for a guy card, it's all-purpoise for the mo.

~~~
The kids and twins stopped by late yesterday afternoon to pick up the granddog, Duke.  We have had him for the last week.  I'd like to tell them that he missed them terribly and would sit, pining, by the front door.  In truth, just before they got here, I found him thusly in the computer/ guest room:
I had to be sneaky while taking the picture because he had his ear cocked.  You may have heard of "tree-huggers."  Duke's a wall-hugger.
~~~

I'm assuming, I'm hoping, I'm praying that if you are normally supposed to be experiencing Spring where you are, that you are.  Because I want to post this sweet boutique of lilacs I picked and I don't want you hating me for it.  (Not that you would, really.)

A boutique of lilacs, no less!  Did you notice that?  Oh, heavenly bananas, wouldn't that be a glorious thing?!  I'm also specially posting this for my sisters who share my love of lilacs.

~~~
Enjoy your day!  No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS*!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Playhouse. Special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment or join as a follower!
Darnell, you've disappeared! Well, not you, but this post. You're still in my blog list, and I can see all your previous posts there, but this post never showed up (I just happened to see it on CAS-ual Fridays) and no amount of refreshing is bringing the post up. Dunno if it's the same for anyone else.
Anyway, gorgeous card. I like the trailing leaves. I hate the lilac. We still haven't got spring. We're still waiting for the daffodils to bloom.
Your card is awesome, possum! Love how it looks like a wall with flowers just cascading over it. Very springy! Love the lilacs--I've got crocus' in bloom, with daffys and twolips not far behind! Duke...must love having sleepovers at gramma's house. Have a good Sunday. Bev
I love your profusion of flowers over a bricked wall. Wouldn't mind have this in my "not yet spring" yard. I transplanted a lilac bush several years ago (actually took it from someone's yard, sh don't tell) and can't wait for it to bloom. The smell is glorious. Or should I say Glory Us!
Ardyth said...
Beautiful fusion - I love the flowers tumbling over the wall in a very English Country Garden fashion. And now I'll be singing that all afternoon!
Your card is beautiful! Love what you did with it and your touch of chevron. Yes I am jealous of those beautiful lilacs :( We just got a fresh layer of snow this morning. Our temps are way below normal, whatever that is?! Thanks for your comments on my blog and nice meeting you too. Love your playhouse!
I love the sound of the new challenge and your entry is wonderful Darnell. I love the interlocking backdrops and the way you have added the flowers and leaves looks gorgeous.
Think you've got "chevronitus" Dippy...maybe time to consult a physician! Love the way you've created this hard line with the chevron style bricks but then softened it with those gorgeous flowers. You've totally smashed this challenge! Love the wall-hugging pooch - as long as he's got a handy wall he's obviously happy. Don't hate you at all Dippy......you're just not my fave person at the minute..........Spring - what is it? We are in April and have arctic winds, snow, gales and nothing spring-like apart from a few brave daffodils! I can almost smell those gorgeous lilacs from here - can I come visit?
Hugs.
Hi Darnell, I love the interlocking backdrops with the lovely flowers. Duke looks very relaxed! I do like lilacs too, wish we had them but the cold weather has stunted most things here including the Spring daffodils...... LITS to you too. Hugs, Annie xx
Very pretty, Darnell. ;-) I love how you incorporated the chevrons, and your lovely line of beautiful blooms. Great idea to wait for the sentiment - I should do that more often.
Beautiful bouquet of lilacs, too! Wow. Thank you so much for joining our first Fusion challenge. ;-)
Darnell, your card is spectacular! Wow!!
And Duke must be related to my Coco - this is one of the crazy poses she strikes on a regular basis. ;-)
JD/ Jill said...
Beautiful card! Great job with that challenge! The lilacs are pretty.
I like lilacs too but they don't last very long. You made me walk out in my back yard to look at my lilac bush to see if it was blooming yet...not yet...but I see some buds on the bush so it won't be much longer...
Geri said...
... I can almost smell the lilacs! Sadly, we are getting even more snow here today so our lilacs won't be appearing for a while yet!
But your card definitely has be dreamin' of beautiful blossoms cascading over the flower pot and onto the cobble stone patio! Beautiful colors and beautifully stamped and colored.
Duke rocks!
Hello from a random card challenge web surfer. I just had to drop into to say I think your card is totally stunning. Glad I did as I got to have a little giggle over your kids dog. We had a dog that lay in random uncomfortable looking positions and places too. cheers Linda
What a delight to pop into your blog today! I'm a newbie here. :) I laughed over Duke. A wall-hugger, how funny! That's just adorable.
Love those lilacs you showed! Ooooh. They make me swoon. Also loving the bountiful, flower-ful entry you showed us at Fusion! It is so pretty. Thanks for playing along with our first experiment at Fusion!
It's a good thing you add your card again at the bottom of the post as I forget about it as your posts are so entertaining:) Your granddog is adorable, what a wall hugger!!! I'm very envious of the lilacs, we normally don't seem them blooming until May but with the way this year is going it might be October. We STILL HAVE SNOW in a few spots in our yard. I've been gardening with snow flurries... and nothing is up yet, it's very late. Whine whine ... Your card is gorgeous, love the fusion of chevrons & flowers. Cheers, Shirleyx
Oh thank you for sharing Duke's picture! Love puppy dog pictures--always brings a smile! My lilacs are barely starting--love that bouquet! My mom always sent me back to college from Spring Break with a big bouquet--can't see them without remembering her. Your card is incredible--perfectly stamped!
Great fusion card! I truly had no idea how to combine those two into something... anything and you nailed it. I have a cat who is a wall hugger like that. He likes to crash down near the wall and then put his legs out.
Absolutely gorgeous fusion, Darnell, and apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so--I had to scroll down forever to leave a comment! Love your wall hugger, too.
Your card is GORGEOUS! Love the colors and the way you've place them! It should be a winner! And I love lilacs. When I was growing up everyone had lilac bushes and the scent was divine! I've tried several times to grow them in the South, but never could keep one alive more than a few years. I miss them and so enjoyed your photo. Wish you could get the scent on the puter too!
OK, so at "Person Number Sixty Nine" I guess I AM a little late to the party!!! Good golly, what was I just telling you?!? First of all, I do feel like I'm in the middle of the town square with all of your helpful info here. Secondly, your card is AH-mazing! LOVE your flowers on the chevron bricks (which I have, but have never inked up yet ... always go for the chevron lines)and how you have one lone vine trailing down for interest. Super job! Third, I am indeed jealous of your lilacs, and that it would be warm enough by you to grow them (we don't even have GRASS yet!!) but totally won't hold it against you. Fourth, so glad to see you at the CASual Fridays challenge! Fifth, really appreciate your presence at the Fusion Challenge! Sixth, ... nah, just kidding, I'll stop at five : )
Wow, what amazing stamping, Darnell! You've made it look so easy on a very complicated design. My luck I generally spill something over it as I am just finishing! PS Love the lilacs. Don't see them in sunny Queensland, Australia - mid-April, autumn and still not wearing jumpers, only turned off the air-conditioners last week - go figure!
I am absolutely in awe (as are the 71(!) people who commented before me!) You have made us so happy with that profusion of spring loveliness! Personally I was looking out the window at a blizzard when I first saw your card so I just sat back and stared for awhile. It is truly lovely!
