"No More Hurting People"

Friends,

I wanted to make a card for this week's CASology cue card word, which is "WORD."  I also wanted to use a sketch from a challenge called CAS(E) This Sketch which, for one reason or another, I've missed the last few weeks.  Last night, determined to make a card, I sat and stared at this sketch by the amazingly talented N@ Ali.

As he has so often this week, little Martin Richard kept popping into my mind.  I intended to have my blog be a happy place without further mention of the horrors of Boston, but Martin wouldn't be silenced and so today I feel I must do a post in memory of him.

martin richard boston marathon bombings victim

Martin, the same tender age as my twin grandsons, Henry and Adam.
Martin, with those big, sweet, and innocent eyes.
Martin, whose message is so pure, so simple.

Martin, who at his young age seemed to understand about morality and immortality:

If you injure people, they hurt.
If you hurt them bad enough, they die.

Why would anyone want to do that?

"No more hurting people."

Martin Richard, age 8

~~~
I hope all avenues of today's social media will continue to spread Martin's message to honor him and make his words the clarion call to stop the madness so that future generations the world over will never forget Martin Richard and his words.
Of course, my thoughts and prayers are with all the families of those killed and injured so needlessly, but this post is dedicated to Martin and his simple principle of peace.
 With love,
A prayerful Amen to your post, Darnell. No more violence. Peace to all the children, and since we are all someone's child, that makes us all children deserving of peace.
Your card is beautifully eloquent, speaking peace so softly. Beautiful. Bev
What a touching post, Darnell. I hadn't seen this photo before, and it broke my heart. I looked it up, and found that Good Morning America just posted a photo showing sweet Martin, the bomber in the white hat in the background, and the backpack he left on the ground. So chilling. The address is rather long to post here, but you can find it easily, it was posted 3 hours ago. Every time I look at Logan, I am reminded that another mother of an eight-year-old will never be the same. A senseless tragedy.
Oh Darnell this is such a wonderful tribute to Martin. This week has been so disturbing with the horrors of this senseless tragedy. A beautiful card in his memory.
It's so hard for me to understand how anyone can do this to another human being. It's so random too. But I appreciated seeing that photo, made me stop and think a moment.
Thank you dear Darnell, I have heard of the photo, but until now had not seen it. There is a picture of his Dad and Brother in our papers today, I really feel for them too. A wonderful post today but oh so very sad......... your card is a beautiful tribute. Big hugs, Annie xx
Thank you for posting this tribute to Martin. Children really "get it". Why can't we follow their lead? Your word choice is the perfect word for right now. And may the victims and their families somehow find peace.
Have watched the horrors of the past week unravel on our news channels. So devastating for all concerned. Heart goes out to the victims of the blast and also the brave souls who attempted to bring the culprits to justice and died or got badly injured for it. The world is not a happy place right now.
Hugs Mrs A.
