I'm late getting my Memorial Day card posted. Even though the card took me about five minutes to make, I just didn't have time to get it posted before we went to the twinks' for lunch. And what a delicious lunch it was!
I used the simple and simply great sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch (#29), designed by the fantastic Jackie Rockwell.
And perfect for the American Memorial Day celebration, I used the red, white, and blue colors from this week's CAS-ual Fridays (CFC 102) challenge.
Here is my card:
I'm sure there are lots of other stars and stripes cards entered in these sketches this week. I simply used some Washi tape for the stripes on my card and stickers for the stars. Shazambam!
This stuff is brilliant and so much easier than making your own glitter strips, with the resultant glitter glimmer settling on everything. Unless you like glitter in your vodka, then you should keep making your own stripes, of course.

On my last post, I received a lot of comments from friends wanting to see me in my motorcycle gear. Careful what you ask for:
Are you gabberflasted?! This was taken a few years ago, before my back decided to become a degenerate, severely so, which ended my days as a motorcycle mama. I couldn't get a picture of Mister in the Playhouse getting inky, so you only got half of what you wanted, alas.
~~~
I, on the other hand, got all of what I wanted with this big smooch from Henry today!!
I'll leave you to enjoy that happy bit of happy! And I hope you are enjoying your holiday today, whether Memorial or Bank!
No, seriously, enjoy. LITS*!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Playhouse. Special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment or join as a follower!
Where to start my applause with this wonderful post? Eye-catching card for Memorial Day, and the advice on glitter washi tape is on my "be smart" list! The photo of you in your 'cyling gear' - delightful! You and your husband = one beautiful, handsome couple! And Henry giving you a smooch, not only cutie-patootie adorable, but had my eyes misting over! The little ones are such gems! You've brightened my day more than you know!
Hope you enjoyed the rest of your weekend - your young one looks like he did hugs Karen x
ReplyDeleteSweet card Darnell. Love the look of that glitter tape/ribbon but I have to be honest, I love the look of glitter all over my craft room, it gives it the "tinkerbell" was here look. Great photo's too, I love the one of you all dolled up as a motorcycle mama!
ReplyDeleteJust saw a comment by you over at Susan G's blog, about ?health? (I think). Had to pop by to see what had been going during my MIA. Great card - very patriotic! Lovely photos too.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, you do it every time! You make a stunning card in 5 minutes flat - it would take me hours of pondering. I love your card, simple, elegant and stunning!
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of you in leather but for me it has to be a simple kiss from Henry that steals the day - what a wonderful picture. Love it!
Big hugs, Annie xx
Wow a simple but stunning card. Love the ribbons. x
ReplyDeleteWell just look at you - a biker chick AND a sweet grandma!
ReplyDeletePerfect card for Memorial day (or any day!). I love the motorcycle mama photo - you rock dudette! What a cute photo of you and Henry!!
ReplyDeleteLove your sparkle sparkle and no mess! Super photo of you and your bike. Just told hubby when he finishes with riding his bike he'll take up paper crafting. He almost choked on his tea! Lovely smooch too. x
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Your card is a real winner, perfect interpretation of the sketch!! Motorcycle Mama eh?? Brilliant photo you look so happy too. Such happy cuddles and kiss from your lovely Henry :D Gay x
ReplyDeleteOh such glorious glitteriness, Darnell ... sooo WOW! Cool picture of the happy 'biker girl' and even more cool picture of the even happier grandma! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful stars and stripes card! I need to look for some of that tape! You look like a hot, motorcycle mama. I'll bet you and hubby had lots of fun! What a wonderful picture of you and Henry!
ReplyDeleteWhat a festive card! Love the sparkle.
ReplyDeleteI'm sooo impressed with the fact you actually ride that motorcycle! I use to ride motorcycles when I was very young, but now . . . well, I would be terrified.
Gotta love those grandsons!!! I have 2 and you have to get those hugs in while you still can before they get to big.
I love those glitter strips and your cute little snuggle bunny. Just don't tell him I called him that ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your glittery card! And your photo with your grandson is absolutely precious! You are truly blessed!
ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect and glittery card. Very clever use of supplies. And, I love the picture. Your grandson is scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!! Love the bike. My other half drives a Honda Gold Wing. In my younger days, I could've ridden all day and half the night. Now, I'm lucky if I can manage 2 hours before I feel like I'm crippled. Hate getting old.
ReplyDeleteDontcha' just love smooches from the younguns? Mine are adults and I still get smooches although there is just something extra-special about snuggling with a wee one. It's their smell and their general sweetness and innocence I think, that just makes the snuggles that much more special.
Get all the hugs and kisses you can. :)
Gorgeous card Darnell.
ReplyDeleteSuper card but what are you like! Glitter in my vodka? Not on your nelly cos I'm a very fast drinker. Hugs mrs a.
ReplyDeleteOh wow.. I need this tape because glitter everywhere does not enthral me either!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your patriotic design with the sketch Darnell and gorgeous photo of you and Henry :0)
I LOVE AC Glitter Tape and you totally rocked it here! Love this!!! Thanks so much for joining in the fun over at CAS-ual Fridays!
ReplyDeleteOh, how I yearn for one of those....a grandchild that is, not the bike!
ReplyDeleteYou are still one hot motorcycle mama! You look cool just standing by the bike...no need to get on and go for a ride! I'm quite sure though, that you really do miss the adventure of it all!
Awesome card! Clean, simple, quick and wow! I honestly did not know that there was glitter washi tape! Sure would help to stop people from always dusting glitter off my face!!!
Oh, what a treat! Love to see the pic of you in your motorcycle gear, Darnell!! An unexpected surprise for sure.
ReplyDeleteAlso a treat to see your splendidly sparkly, yet still very CAS, tribute to our troops. Great design!! Thanks so much for joining the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!
I'm catchin' up here see (avoiding doing icky work) and am so glad I kept scrolling. I thought the pic of Sir Duke was pretty awesome but it's nothin' compared to this beaut with Henry :)
