A Sunny Hello!
And we're back around to Friday ~ whoosh!
I have missed Days 3 and 4 of my online card class, so I've got some catching up to do in class time and in homework. Oopers. I spent the entire day yesterday cleaning up the Playhouse, which means I'm also behind in my visits to you.
A lot of you know that I love polka dots and plaids and stripes. You may have noticed that I like my ribbons bespectacled in this way, too. I've purchased dotty ribbons from SU! and PTI and striped ribbons from SU! The truth is, however, that until they ended up together on my desk a couple of weeks ago for some forgotten purpose, I had never noticed how striking the stripey SU! ribbons were together.
I was really taken with them and I wanted to make a card with them. I HAD to make a card with them, but they weren't dressed for the various events on my calendar. So they waited. While they waited, I kept stacking them in different color order, fondling them when I was on the phone. I wished I had a straw hat so I could make happy ribbon hatbands for it.
And then along came yesterday. Yesterday I was a Hoover with a Master's Degree in Organization and Efficiency, deployed in Operation Clean Sweep. If they were going on a card together, it was now or maybe never. From behind my apron strings, peeked little Miss Nida Challenge.
She's a persistent little thing, so I searched my Challenges tab to see what was on tap and lookie here what I found! An absolutely perfect sketch at Mojo Monday.
As you can see, it is "Round or Square" week and the sketch, seemingly made just for me, is by the talented Julee Tilman.
I haven't played at Mojo Monday for a while and I'm delighted to do so again. I'm pretty sure that Mojo was the very first sketch challenge that I played in and I did so often. It's a popular challenge and the sketches are usually more layered than I prefer, but I have never felt unwelcome with my CAS cards. Check them out if you haven't already!
Here is my card.
This will make a cheery graduation card for my niece who is getting her real Master's and going on to medical school. It was actually pretty QACAS, so I went to see if my colors would fit for the current 10-Minute Craft Dash, but not. (Hey, if that had happened, I would have had to wash my face and put on shoes and go buy a lottery ticket!)
~~~
My ribbons are now happily back with their color families and I can resume my classes and visits and shopping. Wait. How did that get in there? And why do you need a resume to take an online class?
~~~
I'm pickled tink to announce that we have Julie Juhl joining our journey! Julie, I can't find your website if you have one. If you do, please email and let me know, so that I can share your site with everyone! Thank you for following!

Member the Cooper's Hawks I told you about that were perching often in our neighbor's tree? This is a photo of one of them:
Well, well, well. They have moved over to OUR large maple. This is the result:
Nature giveth and giveth! And spit happens.

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your day. LITS*!

ReplyDeleteI think Julee must've known that your ribbons were being neglected and just waiting for their debut! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute little card, your niece is gonna love it - and well done to her too!
..and I'd like to think that you washed your face anyway, whether you're going out to buy a lottery ticket or not?! He he! ;) I think you should grab one anyway...you never know!
Darnell Knauss you friv-o-lous ribbon user you -Have you no shame !! LOL ! Lovely card-perfect for the occasion(and indeed the challenge)
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful piccy of the Hawk-perhaps you should invest in that straw hat after all (for walking under your trees)!
Hugs,Nessa xx
I love ribbon. Next to paper, it's prolly my most drooled over fun thing. Your card is so darn clever. It's got lots of gorgeous ribbon, and still maintains a nice CAS style. Great card my friend. And if you can put up with poop, you'll have less mice and other naughty critters in your yard. We have falcons in the 'hood. Car is in garage. Bev
ReplyDeleteLoving your ribbon cards Darnell and this one is fabulous! Reminds me of deck chairs on a beach:)

What a perfect sketch to showcase your widey stripey ribbon. A super card Darnell. Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support, encouragement and comments for my Fusion entry. I so appreciate it. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for a graduation card, Darnell! (It also reminds me of a bar of medal ribbons).
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness that is so sweet and magical... how the sketch worked so well.
ReplyDeleteYou must spend a good deal of time responding to all your peeps.
Perhaps that's another reason why the membership keeps growing.
Hugs Carole
I so enjoyed your post. Thanks for visiting my blog through Fusion. I've added the follower gadget... ;)
ReplyDeleteDon't you love it when an idea and a sketch come together, Darnell ... perfectly in this case with your crisp and colourful stripey ribbons! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I love the striped banners...and the colors.
ReplyDeleteYour ribbon card is like a summer dream. I'd never thought of doing that with the ribbons. I have some of the same ribbons...hmmm.. Your car looks much better than mine. We don't have a hawk over the car, but I've spotted the cardinals and chickadees, bluebirds and robins! The spit has mingled with the pollen and I just told DH that I think we're overdue for a car wash. Have a great weekend, Darnell.
ReplyDeleteWait ... you fondle your supplies too? I so don't feel bad now! And I keep things on my desk until I use them too, otherwise it would never happen. So glad you kept these beautiful ribbons out until this card took shape. It was worth the wait!!
ReplyDeleteBwahahahahaha!!! Your poor vehicle has been bombed!! I suppose you aren't about to argue with a hawk that size either are you? LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the ribbons and how you coordinated them together! nj!
I haven't done my homework for class either. I have seen the videos and there is a lot of good information in them so you'd better get watching. I used to do Mojo Monday all the time until I started doing more CAS cards. I'm thinking this week's sketch leans a little more in that direction as you so aptly proved with your lovely ribbon.
ReplyDeleteOh my car looks like that too darn it! Never fails...wash my car and they bomb it every time...Love those ribbons, but I have been stumped on how to use them...you did great!!!
ReplyDeleteFabby card Darnell and I love how you used the ribbon and in 3 different colors too! What a sweet owl, LOL.
ReplyDeleteSuper card for a graduation, and a great way to highlight that gorgeous ribbon. I've got some of that in the red, and it's my favorite of all the SU ribbon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to use that ribbon ...love the card.I also adore that shot of the hawk ....what a regal bird....thanks for sharing. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, you make me smile... love the use of ribbon on your design, great colour combo that pops. Next I'm enjoying the bird photo and as I scroll down I see the p--py mess it may have created:) I'm still smiling... have a good one, Shirleyx
ReplyDeleteI LOVE happy accidents!! NOT the bird kind. But the kind where things end up out-of-order on your desk and you see a card in it. I love the result of your happy accident.
ReplyDeleteA good thing you didn't use the ribbons on a hat - it would have been bombed! :-) I have those ribbons too and never used them. Thanks for the ideas and hugs to you!

ReplyDeleteFabulous use of those gorgeous ribbons Darnell - love the result!
ReplyDeleteCrumbs, you ought to charge that bird 'car wash fees' - although they do say it's meant to be lucky :)
Hugs, Di xx
