WOYWW #226; LIM #139; ATCAS #23

Hi Every Body!  I'm so happy to see you!

Today I've got my desk on display for the current What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday (WOYWW), hosted by our dear Julia.  She can tell you all about it, if you're unfamiliar.  All you have to do is click on her.  She's easy like that.

After last week's revamp, all heck broke loose in the Playhouse in a flurry of autumn.
I'm working on the card you'll see below and a couple of others, so strewn about are all the requisite card-making tools.  And, of course, my tall glass of wodka.  I was going to ask you if you find that you are misplacing the caps to your tools more often?  I mean you just take the cap off a marker and color one little tiny bit and then when you go to replace the top, what?  Where?  How is that even possible?  But now that I've mentioned the wodka, you'll prolly just say, "Well, no, but I can venture a guess why'st that might be happening to you!"

On the feature wall this week, I'm happy to show you this close-up:
I was thrilled to receive my own original ICAD work of art from my sweet friend, Redanne.  You can find more information here.  It's so beautiful!  The adorable friend card with the two little girls on the front came from another dear friend, Susan.  Thank you, Annie and Susan!

~~~
Here is a close-up of the card I made today for Addicted to CAS where the code word is "Autumn/Fall."  I'm also entering it in the current sketch challenge at Less Is More.  To keep this shorter, please click on the links provided for the details.  Here is my card:
The fun die-cut sediment came as happy mail from another friend, Geri.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I had just the image to go along with it.  (Sadly, it came from a stamp company that is no longer in business.)  Thank you, Geri!
You can't really tell, but I put Dimensional Magic on the punkin and the paper is glossy, so it's a really fun shiny card IRL.  The base is embossed with Sizzix "Honeycomb" EF.
I know Halloween is not a huge holiday in some parts of the world, but if you are looking for inspiration, I did several other cards in the post below this one and there are great links for even more ideas.
For those of you who asked about the bat poop card from that post, the circle image is backed with mulberry paper, the poop splatter is made from a Paper Smooches stamp set called "I Heart Art," and the poop on the table is actually chocolate-covered sunflower seeds.  (And, ps, they are delicious!!)
~~~

Some of you may remember that last March I traveled to one of my sister's homes to help her stage her house for sale.  I'm delighted to report that her house has sold!  I'll be leaving Saturday for about a week to go back and help her pack up for her move to the home of another sister, so I will miss next week's WOYWW.

Enjoy today's hop and next week's, too, and I'll see you when I get back.  Since I am not leaving until the weekend, I will be visiting as many of you as I can before I go.  If you stop by, please leave a comment and let me know your number, so I can be sure and return the flavor!!

Mwah!

  6. Ok Miss D, I'm following behind you, from Joanne's Blog (CHNC guest designer). Just had to pop over & say Hey. Love your mouse card (and so will DH). Gotta find out what this dimensional magic stuff is. You find the neatest schtuff. Now I'm not a wodka person, but I do like a nice glass of vino - occasionally. I don't need anything alcoholic to lose stuff from minute to minute. Maybe it's attention deficit in my case. (Or CRS ..which I'm suspecting I have had for quite a while. Or could be disorganization!). Congrats to your sis for her house sale. In today's environment, that is truly a blessing to hear such good news. Enjoy the packing up. Loved your card too! Prob'ly forgot to say that, cuz I had a glass of some nice stuff out by the pool, in a lovely breeze after a blisteringly hot day in So. Fla. TFS & Hugs

  19. Hi Darnell - Yes I've noticed I'm losing stuff on my desk that I had in my hand a second ago - today you will say I'm not surprised - what a mess, but this is happening every time I craft - and it drives me MAD! Fab cards on display today - too cute to spook- so true. Congrats to sis on the house sale and good luck to her in her new home. Be happy and enjoy your time together. MMx #47

  21. Ooh, how I love that little mouse! I must say I'm not a fan of really spooky Halloween creations, but looking around the desks there are some really sweet and cool creations with colours that focus on the season and clever ideas that don't dwell on horror, but on fun! Well done on 'staging' your sister's house successfully! My mum's house just sold too, so leave that Vodka for now, and join me in a glass of champagne in the Magpie's nest, Darnell! Cheers! 34. Yes, he's too cute to spook. Yes, things disappear (even without vodka) - I use Zip-Dry Liquid glue and that cap disappears daily - then the glue dries out. And since I love autumn colors, I love the splash of autumn leaves and colors across your desk!

  35. Hello Darnell, your desk looks lovely with those beautiful leaves,I'm forever losing well everything LOL. 38. Oh what a cute mouse card. Love that mulberry paper. I have a few sheets saved because you don't see it anymore. I can lose a cap on my desk with only paper and an ink pad on it. Right in front of me and I don't see it. Happy for your sister's sale. Have a safe trip out and back. Had to laugh about your comment being noon and still not dressed because it was 11:30 am when I read it and I was in my nitegown!

    Your mouse is so cute, what a brilliant card.
    Had to laugh at your disappearing tops, I think we must all have a crafty ghost, it's usually scissors that I've just put down that just disappear.
    Hope your sister's house move goes smoothly.

Loved seeing your cards from Anne &Susan (aren't those two little girls cute....). Well,what can you say about your adorable mouse.......too cute for words! Lovin' that sentiment as well. Can't believe it's so long since you helped your sister to stage her house but glad to hear it's been sold now. Don't overdo things when you help her pack up! 55. Hi Darnell

    I do so love your work space. The view out of your window is so beautiful.

    I live on a main road and to open my window is a complete "no, no". The noise is just too much for my quiet little brain to handle.

    Great fun card. Love that little mouse!!!

    Hope you are having a good week.

    Love Jules xx

  56. It shows my infantile sense of humour that the two things I enjoyed most on your desk this week were the bat poop and the mouse's google eyes!! Yay, I bet you're the first to ever feature those things on a WOYWW desk, lol!
    That's the wonderful thing about Julia's creation...you think you've seen it all and then, WHAM, something else turns up to make you do a double take. That's the reason I adore it!
    Thanks for visiting and the lovely comments :-). Hope you are fit and well...
