I'm back with another Happy New Year's card. I'm making them during this one week while I can before I move on to the next special heartiday. (To answer your question, I usually send them to people I forgot to send Christmas cards, too.)
For today's card, I used this sketch by the talented Nicole Watt over at Pals Paper Arts:
Here's my card:
I'm not sure why, but my celery green paper looks all trendy neon. Either way, it looks pretty with the black and white. I randomly stamped the clock image on the white panel. The clock is from a NBUS Hero Arts set. I drew on the hands at midnight. That's not to say it was midnight when I drew on the hands. The champagne flutes are heat embossed in white onto a NBUS label die from My Favorite Things.
Besides PPA, I'm playing in these challenges again:
- CAS on Sunday where the theme is HAPPY NEW YEAR!
- CAS-ual Fridays where the theme is HAPPY NEW YEAR!
- Pixie's Snippets Playground ~ just use a snippet on your card ~ and this time I used more than one snippity bit.
A lot of these challenges run several more days so I hope you will get a chance to play along! Please click the links for all the details on rules, sponsors, and prizes.

Some of you are posting a few favorites of your 2013 cards and I'm really enjoying your selections! I'm too indecisive to attempt that, but I do have a show-and-tell photo of the holiday cards I recieved from you!
It's not that sharp in the late afternoon sun with my camera failing, sorry. And after I took the photo and scooped them up, I found a couple that had been left out, sorry. Thank you for sending me cards of yours that are even more gorgeous in real life than what I see on the monitor! I will treasure them!
If anyone else would like to be a card pen pal with me, just email me your address and I'll email you mine. After all, cards is what we do and there is nothing like happy handmade mail!

HELP! I need blogging help. I am getting an irritating popup error message from Blogger every time I open or view my blog. (Plus, some of you have said you have been having problems viewing or commenting on my blog. Grrr!) Here is the error message I am getting:
ERROR: Possible problem with your *.gwt.xml
module file. The compile time user.agent value (ie9) does not match the runtime
user.agent value (ie10). Expect more
errors.

We use Internet Explorer 11 and we have not done any recent upgrading. If anyone has a clue about what this means, or if I should be doing anything, or how to get it to go away and stay away (other than switching to Chrome or Firefox), I would appreciate it!
I asked Mr. Google and he said this problem was resolved back in 2009 (NOT!) and I also sent Feedback via the Blogger.help people, who promptly sent me a reply which said, basically,
"Thank you. There is no possible way we can answer you, but we thank you for your feedback."
Nice, huh? Imagine if we could all just cop that attitude with everything in life. I especially think it might be helpful to recite that line to your children when they are tugging on your hip pocket or to your husband when he wants to know why the car is parked up on the lawn.

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy. LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!
*Life Is Too Short!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to use clocks for New Years cards! Why haven't I thought of that? Thanks for showing us all of the handmade cards you got this year, how fun! That big brown jingle bell looks intriguing. Thanks for joining the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge!
Fun card for New Year's, Darnell! Hope yours is super happy! Hugs, Greta
ReplyDeleteFab collection of cards Darnell, like you say always good to get happy post :-) loving your New Years card x
ReplyDeleteI love the combo of green and black, Darnell. I'll have to remember that one. And what a lovely collection of handmade cards, how lovely to receive all of those.
ReplyDeleteI also started receiving the same error message about 10 days ago and I know how infuriating it is! For now I have switched to Chrome when using Blogger as haven't managed to solve it. I updated my anti-virus so assumed it was connected to that but clearly not. If I hear of a fix I'll let you know hunnie.
Much love xx
Hi Darnell - thank you for your lovely comment on my blog and for becoming a follower too. I love your New Year card. I'm really going to have to get some made this week as like you I've missed some people. I likd the idea of a use your NBUS - I need to join that - so much stuff - can't think who bought it all.
ReplyDeleteSee you soon.
Ann xxx
I love that green colour you have used and black compliments it so well. I giggled when I read the lines 'I drew the class clock hands at midnight. That's not to say it was midnight when I drew them'. Haha.
ReplyDeleteBlogger troubling you. Maybe you should try using Chrome if you are not already. I'm using it too and haven't encountered any troubles in my blogging experience. All the best Darnell. :)
What a fabulous new year's card! Love the clocks! x
ReplyDeleteMorning Darnell . . . FAB HNY card and love the sketch.
ReplyDeleteCan't help with your Blogger probs, sorry. I use Chrome and don't have that error message coming up. Just sayin'!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Love, love, love the New Year's card (I make them for the same reason you do....), the green background looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLove the line up of cards you got!
I have had huge problems with my computer over the last few days but have not seen that error message. Fingers crossed, it may just disappear! That was such a stupid message you got back! How unhelpful. Here's hoping it resolves itself and that you have the most wonderful New Year! Thank you for all your amazing inspiration, your good humour and your friendship this year. Big hugs, Annie xx
Another gorgeous card
ReplyDeletelove your work.
Dear Darnell
I want to thank you for your tresured comments on my blog in this year and I wish you and your love ones one happy, healty and lucky year 2014
hugs, love and blessings Tamara
Your card is fabulous Darnell. I love the colours and the white embossed champagne flutes look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSorry I cannot help you with your blogging problem, I have never seen that message before. Hopefully someone will be able to help you.
hugs Sue xx
What a fabulous card! Clocks and glasses - perfect combination for New Year. Sorry I can't help with the computer problem - I am rubbish when they go wrong! I can't believe the help you 'didn't' get from Blogger and Google - how **ap is that! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try that line on my kids. Ooooh, and definitely my husband. Oh yeah :) This will be good. lol! Unfortunately I have no computer advice - my expertise is limited to "Did you restart the computer? Oh. OK well it's broken then."
ReplyDeleteI love that stunning card - I too need to send out some 'new year's/winter' cards since I got so far behind I could see my own behind :)
Great card Darnell...
ReplyDeleteIsn't blogger wonderful??? NOT! Great when it works and a pain when things go wrong - and what a really helpful reply....one I shall remember and use often!!! Happy New year. x
A very clever New Year's card....classy, too!!! I am getting the same error message and my AT&T email is now a nightmare. I first noticed when I got up one morning and my computer had been restarted while I was snoozing, an update by Microsoft, so I was/am assuming it had something to do with that and it also tells me my search engine is outdate...what the heck???
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely elegant New Year's card Darnell and great colours. May I wish you and yours a very Happy New Year, and here's to lots more crafting fun in 2014. x
ReplyDeleteFun party card, and I tip my glass to you in celebration of New Year's too!
ReplyDeleteI use chrome and rarely have issues with it until I add MS updates! I don't allow them to automatically install anymore, so this way I'll know when an update is corrupted and can go into restore mode to eliminate it if I see problems after installing. One such update blocked my firewall and I couldn't get online until I restored to a previous date! I hope you can figure things out soon!
Isn't it sad that we all have to be technical experts in order to simply show off our cards and be friends with others who are showing off their cards? I'm sorry you are having a headache and I'm extra sorry that google and blogger folks are totally unhelpful. Ever since they got rid of their Reader with a statement about blog technology being old news - I've been very worried about their continued support of blogger. Their comment to you makes me worry even more. Hopefully they give us notice before they do anything dramatic.
ReplyDeleteI think your card provides the answer - a little bubbly and all should be well.
Hope your Christmas was merry - and that you are looking forward to a new year!!
OHHH! I LOOOOOOVE this card, Darnell--- beautiful combo of stamps and images!! Great colors and I LOVE that bold embossing on the black frame/panel! YOU ROCK<3
ReplyDeleteSo sooooooooooorry that you are having issues with blogger/etc. I'm of no help--- I apologize! I do hope it gets fixed soon!
And WOOOOOOOOOOW! Look at those gorgeous cards!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE <3
Now that is a colour scheme I would never have tried - but it works beautifully! That reminds me I need to make a couple of those myself as I missed the deadline for posting lol!
ReplyDeleteAs for the error message I am sorry I can't help you huni. I just about get by updating my blog - if I have to do anything different I end up in a right state lol! DH has always had computers but even he can't figure out Blogger at times and there is no support either.
Have a Happy New Year and I hope your Blogger issues blog off! xx
Your card is great! I like the color combo. In regard to you computer problem...I have not seen that error problem before...but the way it goes with blogger...I won't say that I will never see that error message...LOL! So I'm sorry I can't help. I'm having computer problems too...but it's my computer...It's OLD! Hubby manages to keep me running but I'm not sure for how much longer. Fortunately for me, he's very good with computers.
ReplyDeleteYour received cards are just lovely...what a joy to find those in your mailbox...and Yes, I see mine sitting on your desk...thank you for sharing. And thank you for sharing on your blog...You have added so much JOY to my life last year in just reading your blog! JOY...is my motivational word for 2014! Happy New Year to you and your family!
First of all I love your card! Even though it may not suppose to be in lime, it's perfect! Fantastic design on that too.
ReplyDeleteI'm STILL laughing about what Blogger wrote back! OMG! I really need to remember this with hubby now. Too funny.....and typical of Blogger. Sorry I can't help you with the answer either. I use Firefox and haven't had that type of problem - yet!
Sorry I haven't been around....playing catch up it seems.
Oh, and if I remember reading correctly - tomorrow is the BIG day! Congrats on the upcoming retirement and hope you get to do some of the things you love to do.
Lynn
Love the green with the black! The clock paper is perfect for the occasion! Hope you have a great celebration to start the new year!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debbie
P.S. Thanks so much for you kind comment on my blog! It really made my day! :)
What is that a great colour, I mean the green that you´ve used! Great card! You´re kraftroom looks so tidy. Lovely cards you recieved. Happy new year and all the best for 2014! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteDarnell, I had the same error message and with the help of my BFF's daughter she finally got mine working again after 1.5 hours on the phone. You need to go into Control Panel>Programs> Programs & Features> View installed updates Look for Windows Internet Exployer 9. If it is 10 or 11 which mine was, right click on it and uninstall. If it is 11,uninstall and then go back in to uninstall 10. Hope this does it for you. Have a Happy New Year...
ReplyDeleteI have no advice on the error message (on a Mac using Safari or Firefox), but can say I've never seen it when commenting here. I shake my head at the feedback from Google - how helpful is that?! The card is delighful - love the clocks paired with the champagne glasses! I have a few cards to send out this week and just might borrow this idea. Happy New Year Darnell!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love the bold black/white/lime color scheme of your card. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletefun new years card, darnell! thanks so much for playing along with CASology! (glad to know that i was not the only one with that error message... i look the advice of linda (who commented above) and uninstalled IE10... now i don't have that error message.. YAY!) Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteLoving the lime and black Darnell, although i gather it is a softer green than that! Hope you had a fab Christmas and all the best for 2014!
ReplyDeleteVal x
LOL, love your post, you have such a wonderful sense of humor! Sorry I cannot help you on the pop up, I switched to Chrome myself and love it....so maybe it's time to bite the internet explorer bullet and join us! lol waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
ReplyDeleteLovely card, Darnell. I'm no help with the blogger problem, I'm afraid. :-). Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love the color combo on your card. Very New Years Evey. Sorry about the error message. I hate when things don't work right.
ReplyDeleteSuper card and I love the stamps and colours.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the lovely comment you made about my Dads santa. It was truly appreciated xx
I am totally in love with this card! LOVE the colour combo and that image is perfect for New Years! And guess what?!! I just started getting the SAME error message! A-NNOY-ING!! I too did a google search, but quickly gave up after getting nowhere! If you have any luck at all if finding a solution, PLEASE let me know!
ReplyDeleteFirstly, love your card, Darnell - the zingy green is perfect for New Year and I love the clocks. New Year cards used to be very popular here in Scotland but that was back in the days when Christmas wasn't a holiday and New Year was. Now we have both :) Sorry can't help you with your error message but I bet someone out there has the answer, even if it isn't the less than helpful folk over on Blogger Help! Hugs, Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteI love this card! The celery looks awesome with the black and white. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card, Darnell! Love the bright green with the black--quite stunning! Have a good day, friend!
ReplyDeleteAwesome design!!! I love your stamped clocks (so clever to draw in the hands of the clock!) and gorgeous embossed image! The color looks awesome on my monitor - definitely not neon green (although wouldn't that make for some bright new year wishes!).
ReplyDeleteI really feel badly for you with computer problems...I know that I would be in the same predicament when it comes to trying to fix the problem!
Very fun card Darnell and I love the green!! The happiest of New Year wishes to you!!
ReplyDeleteGreat card and a very Happy New Year to you and your Family.
ReplyDeleteKath x

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about the frustration your experiencing with the blog...but I have nothing to offer but condolences. Your New Year's card is brilliant...love the green it's so trendy and elegant. I wish I could zoom in on all those wonderful cards you've received. I mailed out over 50 and forgot to take pictures...in too much of a hurry like everyone else.Be well Darnell and Happy New Year 2014
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of images for a New Year card, great clean design! I've been so occupied making Christmas cards that I've totally forgotten to make some for New Year! Guess I have to put that down on my to do list for next year....
ReplyDeleteOH I have to have that bubbly stamp Darnell! So funny that I can say that and just assume it will look fab for me - doubt it! Great card - wishing you loads of friendship in 2014 my friend. Sorry a card from me isn't up there - I've been slacking. I've been getting the same error message too! I hate technology!!

ReplyDeleteHugs
xx
Fab NY card, Darnell! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI didn't read all your comments so I don't know if someone answered you, but I will anyway. Here's my answer: there is no possible way I can help you with that but I appreciate you! LOL! I get that error too and just keep going and I haven't noticed anything being funky. I too use Internet Exploder for blogger. I use Firefox for everything else but my home FF won't let me upload pictures (so I go over to IE) yet my work FF will. Very odd and very technical. But of course I would never blog while at work. What a waste of public tax dollars! I like your new year's themed card in all its neon-ness (which I had heard was in but didn't really see a lot of). Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeletewonderful color combo and design. great card! thanks for joining us at CAS-ual Fridays!
ReplyDeleteLove the green, black and white! Here's to another year of fun at the Playhouse! I can certainly drink to that! Happy New Year, my friend!

ReplyDeleteJust the perfect New Years Eve card Darnell, by the way I really love your craft room. Wow, it must be fun to design in there.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
Fabulous card, Darnell ... perfectly dramatic in it's black and white ensemble against the gorgeous green! Sorry I can't help with tech stuff ... fingers crossed it's something you've already got sorted (cause I'm late getting to you here!). Happy New Year to you and yours, my friend! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteLoving this New Year's card, Darnell! Great take on the sketch and perfect for all those challenges! Thanks so much for sharing it with us...I wish you and your family a very Happy and Healthy 2014!!!

A brilliant New year card Darnell, a glass of two of bubbly - just perfect.

Once again, I'm behind in my commenting; perhaps I need a glass (or seven) of bubbly to in gear! Your card - trendy neon celery, black & white, clocks and champagne - is simply spectacular! Happy New Year to you and your family; may 2014 bring you joy, peace, and love in mega-abundant amounts! Hugs~c
