Good Day!
Here we are whooshed around to another Fri-YAY! This is an extra long post coz I've got one booboo and two Friday DJKASEs for you today that fit into several challenges.
First up, I am delighted to be copylimenting my bloggie friend and amazing card artist Kim M. of Art Keeps Me Sane. Kim has been blogging since July 2012. She is oft published and has won many awards! I think she can best introduce herself:
I'm a SAHM just trying to stay sane by any means possible. I will pretty much try anything crafty. I have a B.A. In Fine Arts and specialized in painting. I have tried my hand at many types of arts and crafts like, stained glass, lithography, scrapbooking, rubber stamping, cake decorating, and much more. There are a lot of things I still want to try. I would have to say that my two favourites are card making and painting.
A long time ago, Kim used a poinsettia image on a beautiful card and when I commented on how much I loved it, she generously stamped off several images and sent them to me. (Another example of this kind and caring stamping community we blog in!) I have used some of the images on cards and even posted one, but I have not DJKASEd one of Kim's cards until now. Today is the day for that!
Here is the gorgeous card of Kim's that I've selected to DJKASE. She posted this card on July 28, 2013.

And here is my DJKASE #15 of Kim's card:

ETA: Kim has written to let me know the poinsettia image is a
Jumbo stamp set by Stampendous.
They still sell it on their site. Here's the link.

I have to share with you what happened while I was making Kim's DJKASE. The card was completed, adhered, and wrapped in a bow. The only thing left to do was apply some red liquid pearl drops to the center of the poinsettia. That's when I found out that Hammy had been playing with the two-tiered lazy Susan I have for storing my liquid pearls and my reinkers.
Since the bottles are the same size and they look very similar when they are upside down, I make sure they aren't mixed up on the tiers.
====================================================================================
I'm also thrilled to be copylimenting another bloggie friend and outstanding card artist, Barb of Barb's Studio Creations. After being a well-loved cheerleader for others in Blogland for a couple of years, Barb finally started her own blog in October of last year. We were all happy to see her take that step on her own. Her blog is fantastic and her card art is divine!
Here is Barb's pretty poinsettia card which she posted on November 10, 2013:

And here is my DJKASE of Barb's card:

I would also like to remind all of you that Mr. Linky is still open for a couple more days here on my blog, if you would like to add a birthday card for Anita's surprise party. I'd love to see more cards in the gallery!

Bad News, Good News
On Thursday I woke up with the nasty thing (meaning the cold, not the Mister) and it has knocked me off my cankles. I'm sad I had to miss a wonderful milestone birthday luncheon for one of my friends. I feel like I'm walking under water and I'm not that speedy when I feel good! This post took me two days to write, for goodness sake, so please forgive me if I am tardy getting around to visit and chat with you.
The good news is that we have the granddog Duke for a couple of weeks and having him around makes us feel better! Mwah!
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy. LITS!**
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and /or join as a follower!
Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!
Oh Darnell, I hope you feel better soon! That nasty cold visited my house a week or so ago and it was NOT welcome. He's taken his leave of us but didn't mention he was stopping by at your house or I would have warned you. :-(. Thank you soooo much for the kind words and the fabulous case of my card! Your card turned out lovely! Both cards did! You have used your poinsettias well. :-). If you ever want more or another image I have let me know! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better quickly and the visual of your hubby sneezing with back pain is not a good one. I hope he is on the mend quickly. I'm so glad you had another gorgeous image to recover from the reinker...yikes! Your cards are absolutely amazing! Your style is jaw dropping Darnell.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell . .. hope you feel MUCH better, VERY soon.
ReplyDeleteWow, they're both fab cards, Darnell! Beautifully DJKASEd. The vellum poinsettia looks gorgeous and I love the touch of colouring. Don't let Hammy get to the cough medicine.
Oh gosh, both of your cards are just stunning! Love that gorgeous poinsettia. Too bad about your oopsie, and feel better! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWow, the cards you chose to CASE are gorgeous and you did a fantastic job of CASEING. Grabbing the wrong thing would be easy with them right next to each other and with copycat bottoms! It's not nice to fool you. The card came out perfect though. Hope you're feeling better by now and hubby too. Cuddle on the couch with the granddog and rest up.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous cards Darnell. I hope you and the Mister drink lots of hot toddies and feel better really soon.
ReplyDeleteI love Kim's card, and your DJKASEing is beautiful too. I did a very similar thing the other day and the air was definitely a little blue! Barb's card is very pretty too and yet another wonderful DJKASEing. That is a gorgeous Poinsettia and a lovely sized bloom. Sorry to hear that you are not feeling so well at the moment Darnell, and that DH has problems also. Hope you are both returned to full health shortly. x
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are wonderful and I really like that Poinsettia! Have fun with the granddog!!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job DJKASEING both cards, boo boo and all. Too bad you couldn't have spread the reinker around and made a dark center in that poinsettia. The vellum one is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are simply elegant and gorgeous. Love them and the cards that you cased from.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Casing of both cards. You have a lovely way of bringing the best out even better!
ReplyDeleteWow, they both look great! Your cards for Christmas must be growing well! Have a good weekend, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteHope Duke doesn't catch the crud! He's a cutie. Hope y'all both start feeling better soon!!
ReplyDeleteTwo GORGEOUS poinsettia cards! WOW!!! So lovely.
Lynn
Two beauties Darnell - even when created through the haze of a cold - you've still got it girl! Haven't we ALL made a whoops at the very last minute on a card - mine is usually dropping an inked stamp as I finish up by stamping the sentiment inside the card - (so THAT's why so many of my cards have extra panels on the inside?!)
ReplyDeletehope you are feeling better soon!
Great cards - as always, Darnell! I especially love the vellum Poinsettia - swoon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up for the HM at the OLS challenge - may have missed that one......
At last blogger is letting me comment! Hi Darnell :)) I love reading your blog it always makes me smile love the cards and your blogging friends are so talented:) have a lovely weekend huggles Sue xx
ReplyDeleteAll these poinsettia cards are gorgeous. Love yours and glad you sere able to recover from the "incident"!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card my friend and a gorgeous image!
These are gorgeous! Lately I have a thing for poinsettias and these two are providing me with even more inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour poinsettia card is gorgeous! Lucky for me to have you as a friend! ;) Thank you so much for joining us this week at CASology!
ReplyDeleteI love poinsettias and these are both soooo pretty! I love the bit of coloring and the berries in the center on the first card! So glad you could save it! And the vellum poinsettia is gorgeous! I've got to try that! Have a great weekend! Hope you and the Mr. are all better!
ReplyDeleteI'm back with 3 things to say. 1) I hope you and Mister are feeling better very soon. 2) Thank you for joining us at CASology - I missed the 'lucky' link there! 3) Leave it to you to have SO MANY comments that you have to figure out advice for us on how to skip all the scrolling! lol!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are stunning Darnell, fabulous job with the challenge. Feel better soon and Thank you for playing along with us for Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Your cards are GORGEOUS!!! I love the ink you used on the first card! And the way did the second card is just stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, you are such a lovely bloggy friend to pop over and tell me about my mention at OLS and I was delighted to see that you had also been showcased with a real stunner of a card!
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm here I've had fun looking around the Playhouse and how lovely these two CASEs are! Much amused at the mix up with the liquid pearls and the reinker - did van Gogh have this trouble?! (don't know why I suddenly thought of him...) Sorry to hear you and the Mister aren't feeling 100% but feel sure the Duke will soon have you both on the mend - he's adorable! Vicky x
You did an amazing job of CASEing your blog friend's cards. And, I know only too well that we can ruin a card at any time by trying to add one more thing! Been there and done that! And, sorry you and hubby are under the weather. Get well soon!
ReplyDeletelove the vellum poinsetta. i saw another one done by sweet n sassy designer and i went oohhh and ahhh. i also think i need to take a ribbon tying class. those ribbons are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you and Mr are a bit under the weather. Please get well soon!
ReplyDeleteI love both of your DJKase cards, they are both very beautiful and a wonderful compliment to both ladies, really beautiful work.
Thanks so much too for your lovely and kind comment about my box! Big hugs, Annie xxx
Oh such lovely lovely cards! My fave...vellum poinsettia. Take care, hope granddog Duke doesn't catch your colds. :) warm hugs (2 for you then share with mister)
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed a gorgeous poinsettia stamp! Those cards are all beautiful! I am glad you were able to save the "bleeding" one!
ReplyDeleteHope you and Mister will feel better soon!
Very pretty CAS cards xxx Jan
ReplyDeleteAww, sorry to hear you're both unwell Darnell, at least you got it together and can be miserable together! Beautiful cards too, and I do a lot of glittering or liquid pearling after everything is finished too. I tired of turning my topper over to put glue on the back, and turning it over again to stick to my card only to find that the Stickles or whatever wasn't quite dry and has smudged everywhere! Anyway, if you check your front porch there might be something there already to cheer you up! Maybe, just sayin'!
ReplyDeleteHugs to Duke
Brenda
The two original card are beautiful and I have to say that your take on them is fantastic, don't you just hate it when the last thing you do ruins your card, happens to me a lot.
ReplyDeleteFabulous post.
Kath x
I can totally relate to the 'ruined card at the last step' thing...been there, done that! Love the poinsettia card for CASology! We are lucky to have you in our lives! Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards Dippy ...... any idea what the poinsettia stamp is? Sorry that Mister's been unwell and now caused you to be unwell...! Not kind eh? Hammy must be doing double time round his wheel! Sorry been MIA a bit lately only Tony due to go for major back surgery yesterday - half an hour before we were due to leave got phone call cancelling........won't repeat what was said!
ReplyDeleteHugs.
Karendipity xxx
Gorgeous cards, Darnell! I ove the vellum effect on your second card. Hope you feel better soon and that cold gets kicked to the curb!
ReplyDeleteWow you are so loved and appreciated I'm sure there is nothing I can say that hasn't been said. So I'll just agree with all the comments and say WOW...your poinsettia card is awesome. Carry on GF. Hugs Carole
ReplyDeleteIt sucks to hear that you and the Mister are suffering from colds. Hoping you both feel better soon. Good thing your granddog is there to make it all better! Your cards are amazing as always! Good save on the first one! That Hammy can really be a PITA!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear both you and the Mister are not feeling well Darnell. Hope that clears up real soon!!
ReplyDeleteWhat absolutely stunning cards (as always)! I love poinsettias and you have captured them so beautifully on both of these cards.
Two beautiful poinsettia cards Dolly ... and two fabulous designers to honor. Lolly xx
ReplyDeleteYour cards are amazing - I just love them!
ReplyDeleteYour CASE cards are electrifying. Your stories are too funny. Hope you and your hubby are on the mend soon :)
ReplyDeleteHot dog those are some fantastic creations!!!! I've made mistakes like that too, mine is usually dropping something on my card right before being completed - sigh! We are sick over here too :( Thanks so much for playing along with us at Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteDeanne :)
Firstly, I do hope that you and Mister feel better soon! Secondly, wow, and wow again! Both your poinsettia cards are absolutely fabulous! I think the vellum is my favourite by a smidge!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are both beautiful, and great CASES of the cards you've shown us! I love that flower image and it looks awesome on vellum! Sending feel-better wishes your way with a ((Hug))
ReplyDeleteDarnell, sure hope you and Mister are on your way to feeling much better! Love that poinsettia image...fab work!
ReplyDeleteDarnell both of your cards are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGosh, Darnell, I hope you are feeling better! I think your card is stunning and I am so glad you had another image with which to work...so sad about the reinker!! We have all had those kind of oopsies! Thank so much for playing with the Merry Monday challenge this week!
ReplyDeleteWOW Darnell you card is so gorgeous!!! I really love the subtle feel of the card, but with a BIG impact. Love this!!!
ReplyDeleteHey there pal! I do hope that you and Mister are feeling better! I'm sure that grand dog Duke is THE best medicine!
ReplyDeleteTwo amazing cards! This poinsettia truly is beyond gorgeous! A finer presentation of this lovely image would be hard to find! I love the subtle shading along the leaf veins in your first card and the bit of green that you added to the leaves in the second card!
Get well soon XX OO
First, your cards are gorgeous boo boo's and all. I have done that very same thing but I too have never learned from that. So sorry to hear you and Mister are walking under the weather, no fun at all. Sending well wishes to both of you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Darnell
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards Darnell, love that stamp and it looks so pretty in vellum! Hope you both feel better soon
ReplyDeleteVal x
Oooh Darnell I love the poinsettias - especially the translucent one! So stylish. It's a beautiful flower, isn't it, and you've more than done the stamp justice.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you and the Mister have both had the cold - I had a throat infection at the end of Feb. and am still coughing, although not so much now, thank goodness - quite exhausting. Hope you are better soon.
thanks for your visit and your lovely comment - very nice to hear from you again! I haven't been on WOYWW every week but try and get there when I can. I'm so glad you like my Zentangle teabag stain art - love your suggestions and have already decided to do just that. They are fun to do but you do need a magnifier if your eyes aren't going to go squiffy!
Have a great weekend.
Shoshi
What lovely cards. It is so fun to see what inspires others when you make a card. I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I hope you start feeling better soon. Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards and those you DJKased - especially that dreamy vellum poinsettia.
ReplyDeleteI can go relate to the bottle mixup - I had Glossy Accents and Alcohol Blending Solution on my table and reached for the Glossy Accents and instead of a little dab of glue coming out I poured alcohol blending solution all over my alcohol inked and collage stamped background. I did my best to cover the worst bits with embellishments but I've learned my lesson - don't have the two on the desk at the same time !!!
Two gorgeous cards, very elegant! I love poinsettias and vellum ...and thanks for becoming my follower!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Ileanaxxx
I love poinsettias but haven't commited to a stamp set yet - beautiful original and CASE cards. Hope you & the Mister get over the cold quickly :)
ReplyDeleteDarnell, another wonderful post and amazing cards! So prefect for the Merry Monday challenge this week!
ReplyDeletetwo beautiful djkases of two beautiful cards! Great work, but I expect nothing less from you, lady!
ReplyDeleteWow what a masterpiece, a flower that deserves the whole card front and it looks stunning xx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, I hope you and Mister are feeling better. Love your takes on your case cards. They are very festive and beautiful. x
ReplyDeleteDo hope you and the mister are feeling loads better even sooner than soon, Darnell! Both these cards are simply lovely ... gorgeous gentle shading on the first and wonderful delicate vellum with a hint of green on the second ... awesome DJKASEs! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteSo now you and the Mister both sound like you're from Wisconsin, eh?! All nasaly...JK. Drink plenty of fluids, eat chicken noodle soup, and get plenty of rest. NO housework!!! Then feel better really fast! Two beautiful cards. Love those pointsettias. And vellum! You so rock! Big hugs, Bev
ReplyDeleteDarnell, both cards are gorgeous...don'tchya love it when someone "mucks" with the crafty goodies?! NOT...lol Great recovery of the card though - it's gorgeous! Thanks for joining us at Merry Monday this week xoxox Feel better soon :)
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are absolutely beautiful Darnell and both winners in my book! :0) Glad you were able to make the save too with the first one, and also glad to hear that I am not the only one who does stuff like that...grrrrr! Hope you're feeling better soon too. Take care! :0)
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I want to say 'Thank You So Much' for all of your lovely comments, and for choosing to CASE my card! This was such a nice surprise, Darnell! And, it's no surprise to me that your card is so much more beautiful than mine...and that's the truth! I also love your CASE of Kim's card, too! How sweet of her to send you some stamped images, too! Thank heaven you had an extra so you could create a new one!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you and the Mister have been under the weather (I wonder who made up that saying?)...I hope you get lots of rest so you can get back to your ol' self! Thank you so much for another wonderful post, and for always making me smile :-)
So sorry that you and the Mister are feeling poorly. Rest up and craft. The best medicine. Love your cards today, esp. the one for CASology (wink).
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous card, Darnell! Love, love, love the beautiful vellum poinsettia! Well done! Hope you & the Mister feel better soon. It's been going thru my house too and thankfully everyone is starting to feel better! Take care & thanks for playing along with us this week over at Merry Mondays! :)
ReplyDeleteJust lovely! Thanks so much for playing the Color Throwdown!
ReplyDeleteGahhh...the internet connection in our vacation abode is sketchy, so my comments are late! Still, wading in at #86 to echo the others, first with wishes for 'feel better speedily" to you and the mister, and second, to applaud your cards. The soft shading on the first and the vellum with a whisper of green on the second = GORGEOUS! Your DJKASEs rock! Hugs~c
ReplyDelete86 Comments, egads you are certainly "class most popular," and I am responding late. Just want you to know both cards are lovely. Hope you are feeling great today.
ReplyDeleteWell, first I must say that both of your cards are just gorgeous, Darnell! If it makes you feel any better, I'm still too dumb to make assembly my last step too! And as a result, last minute blotches, stains, smudges, etc happen frequently! Still haven't learned though!! Don't know how many more disasters it will take!
ReplyDeleteSorry for this late comment Darnell, we changed internet supplier, need I say more!!! Any way Kim's card is gorgeous and you have DJKASEd it beautifully, but I love! how you DJKASEd Barb's pretty card. Vellum and this stamp were made for each other. Hope you and the mister are feeling a bit better.
ReplyDeleteHugs Lottie x
Gorgeous cards!! Totally lovin' the vellum poinsettias and soft/bright color combos!! Glad the sneezing colds are better...!! This for joining us at CTD!!
ReplyDeleteOh I hope you feel better by now. Seem like everyone is sick with that cold ..glad I can visit with now risk of catching it. Love your gorgeous card and I do me gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHaha ,I am so glad the nasty thing is not the mister.
Both of your cards are just lovely! I really do love the one using our colors! Thanks so much for playing along with us at the Color Throwdown this week!
ReplyDeleteThe cards are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, Darnell, I'm so sorry that your first card got messed up a bit due to your hammy. :) That sounds exactly like something that would happen to me, except mine is my big fat calico long-haired cat! lol Your card looks beautiful and I'll bet you could do something to be able to fix the messed up one because it is just too pretty to throw out! Thanks for sharing with us at ATSM. :)
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards are gorgeous but I haveta say the vellum poinsettia is a real stunner!!!!! Thanks for joining us this week at the Color Throwdown Challenge!!!
ReplyDeleteKim's card is gorgeous and you done did it proud. I can see why you wanted to copyliment it. And such a naughty Hammy! Also, I mistook reinker for eye drops once. I saw it coming so I only managed to get it on my face, but yeah..... DON'T make that mistake. I love poinsettias on vellum so the second card is a big winner too! Woot!
ReplyDeleteHope you are all better now! I'm over the cold but it went into my lungs and I'm asthmatic so I probably have few more days of hacking, wheezing, and sucking on the "peace pipe." I feel so much better! Now if I could only catch my breath!
I am thinking you might just get me motivated to start my Christmas cards!! I am totally in love with both cards! I love the simplicity that really makes both so elegant. Thanks for the links. I am now following those wonderful ladies blogs too!!
ReplyDeleteBoth poinsettia cards are so pretty Darnell, the originals by your clever bloggy friends are too.
ReplyDeleteI love the soft colours you have used in both, just so pretty.
I love both of your cards, Darnell! I can certainly see why you wanted to CASE these 2 & you did them proud!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your win at ATSM, my friend! An awesome card!
ReplyDeleteHi, Darnell!!
ReplyDeleteI've been away from Blogland for a full two weeks spending all my spare time knitting and crocheting and falling behind on blogvisits terribly!! I'm busy catching up on what I've missed out on, so I'll be visiting all 11 posts you have done while I've been 'away'!! Can't wait to see what you have been busy with!!
I'm sure that by this time you and hubby are both better and hopefully feeling 100%!
Both the DJKASE cards of you are beautiful!! Enjoying working with vellum so much lately myself, I really like your vellum poinsettia!! And oops for the booboo - terrible when that happens, hey!! Lovely cards!!
I know that its been a month since you posted this - but I do hope your cold is better. I'm entering my third week of coughing and I have friends telling me that their crud is lasting five weeks...yuk!
ReplyDeleteI've made a lot of mistakes on my cards, but I don't think I've ever mixed up a reinker and liquid pearls. But they are the definitely the same size and shape, aren't they? I can't imagine how you felt when one of your special "limited-edition" images was ruined.
I absolutely love your use of vellum with the poinsettia. It is such a delicate look and beautiful look!
