Are We There Yet? Found the Stamp! NBUS #120

Hello, my friends!

I'm going to show you my card right off the bat today just to shock your croissants!

I purchased this fun street corner stamp several weeks ago and I'm excited to finally use one of the NBUS stamps from the set called "On the Corner Of," made by Neat and Tangled. They have a challenge blog called Little Tangles. This week's challenge is masking, which I didn't do so I can't enter, but I wanted to pass on the information to you anywhiffle.

The other NBUS on my card today is the turkoys car from The Alley Way Stamps set "Priceless Joy." I had to put some Dimensional Magic on the car windows, tres fersure.
And where did that well-known sediment come from? My own little right-hand man, Hammy the Hamster, drew it!!

~~~
Challenges
The foundation of my card came from two related challenges on the challenge board this week. Over at One-Layer Simplicity Challenge, the brief is "Road Trip." Check.
OLS
Over at Addicted to CAS, the code word is "Wheels." Check.
And it was fun just using a pop of color on my card, which I pulled from Less Is More, where the brief is the color turkoys. Check.
PLEASE NOTE: Less Is More is holding a call for a new Design Team member. If you wish to be considered, there is a separate post and linkie for you to use. Good luck!
My little vehicle off in the distance is a NBUS stamp from the Paper Smooches set "Metropolis," so I'm joining in the fun at the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge. They are holding everyone's favorite "Anything Goes" challenge this week! Check.
And finally (thank you, Greta), I am also entering the "Journey" challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
JUST AS YOU PREDICTED!
So this isn't videotaped or audiotaped or lie-detector-taped, but this is what happened, just as you said it would. We discovered on Saturday, March 29th that grandson Adam's favorite stamp was missing. After looking everywhere I keep stamps, I made a plea to you for help identifying the missing stamp:
My friend Bobby did better than that. She found the stamp on eBay! I made a bid and then waited five days for it to end, which it did on April 5th. I WON!!
Late in the afternoon on THE SAME DAY, I went out to the Playhouse. The light from the sun threw a long shaft of light from the west window and across the floor to the other side. As I leaned over from my chair to get something in the wooden file cabinet, my eyes fell upon an object way in the back between the desk and the cabinet.  Wait. What?
Here I'll pull it out so you can see for yourself. I said to meself, "Hmmmmm, that's an odd place for it to have ended up seeing as how my stamps are not usually over in that area." Followed by the realization that the twins may have been good-naturedly messing with each other and Henry tossed Adam's stamp off to the side, not even noticing where it went. Then they were called in to dinner. Then they went home and by the time they came back two weeks later, they were clueless. Call me Dee Tective.
Naturally today, April 7th, the new stamp arrived in the mail!
It happened just like you said it would! As soon as I bought a replacement, the old one turned up! I mean, the same day! The replacement stamp was only .99 cents and having a happy grandson was more than worth it! Thank you, Bobby, and thank you to all of you who prayed to St. Anthony!
Well - my goodness.... isn't that just Sod's Law ???!!! LoL The good thing is though that you can have one spare just in case it goes walkabout again :-) Or better yet - Grandson can have one in each hand and do 'stereo stamping' hahaha :-D
Have a great day
At least now you have a backup stamp in case it goes missing again!
Your card is fabulous Darnell. I love your design and great sediment!
So typical for you to find the stamp after you ordered a replacement!
I hope you have a good week.
Great card Darnell! The sentiment reminds me of Donkey whining in the film Shrek :-)
So funny about the stamp. I spotted your replacement on eBay too and
thought about bidding to see if I could surprise you. Sheesh, we might have ended up bidding against one another and paying gazillions!!
Great fun card Darnell, how many times have we had that question ringing in our ear! As for the stamp, someone up high was having a laugh at your expense! Lol xx
I love your card, Darnell! I also love your story of the missing/found stamp. :-) Now put one of them somewhere safe. ;-)
Ahhh...how awesome that you found your grandson's stamp and even better that you have a back up now! Love this adorable street scene Darnell...and the extra shimmer on the window is perfection.
Redanne said...
Oh how I remember that sentiment being uttered..... I think it will recall memories for lots of parents!
I am glad you found the stamp, now you can put one in a 'safe place' just in case.....but wait, if you were me, you would forget where that safe place was -- so maybe not such a great idea after all! Hugs, Annie xx
Years ago, I lost an incredibly beautiful necklace, given to me by someone special. Prayed and prayed to St. Anthony, and searched and searched, to no avail. I wound up buying a new one, just as you did with the stamp. The evening of my purchase, I stepped out of my garage (I lived in the 'big city' at the time), and the streetlight caught a glint of something in the grass. You know the rest of the story; original necklace found (with much joy!) and the 'new one' returned. I'm soooo glad you found the stamp; St. Anthony works miracles of all shapes and sizes. This I believe! Your card: love it! Fabulous post; mega-watt smiling! Hugs~c
This always happens to me Im such an untidy crafter and most of my have things disappear only to re appear once a replacement has been purchased. Fab and fun card Darnell such a cutie and the sediment reminds me of our family outings. Thanks so much for your continued support at ATCAS and good luck.
Fantastic road-trip card - everyone has heard that from the backseat on a road trip! I remember the day when my kids said it (we so clearly weren't anywhere near 'there' yet) and I stopped the card and said "yes - get out". The looks on their faces were priceless and now that's the family joke when we're driving. So glad you joined us at OLS!
Cute, cute, cute!! Great little card and so creative. I just wonder how many times my children said that 'are we there yet' to us! Um....I still say the same thing to Jim all the time. Love it.
A delightful card that brings back memories and I've always wondered why they asked 'are we there yet' because if we were - would we still be driving!
Thanks for all the challenge links, I need to participate more in them.
What a cutie... I've heard this phrase a few times recently as I'm looking after my 5 year old granddaughter for the first part of her Easter break!
Today we have managed to do a swim, be ladies wot lunch and this afternoon visited a castle... so much excitement!
Love your card Darnell!
Thanks so much
A really unusual stamp again Darnell and so appropriate for the challenge, especially with that children's favourite phrase when travelling, usually uttered when about five minutes from home with most of the journey left to do ..lol. Love that sweet little car too. x
Claire Grantham said...
Hey Darnell, it's been too long. Love that card. I had to laugh at the missing stamp turning up after a new one was ordered...I have had a similar thing happen to me. Here's a funny thing I just discovered the very talented Marion Vagg, only to see you and her are friends...it's a small world! Cx
Jacquie Southas said...
Love the "at the corner of" stamp and your personalized sentiment! Too funny the dolphin stamp showed up the day you ordered the replacement - now you need to find a secure, safe place to hid the spare :)
Cute card!! I really love the simplicity.
So glad you found your stamp(s) these kinds of things stay in their little hearts until they are grandparents!!
You are a sweet grandma!
p.s. my BLOG CANDY is finally going! come on! you could at least use a great scarf! right?! : ) heehee
Donna Nuce said...
Hi Darnell! Love your cute little cars and sentiment. You could always sell the second stamp on ebay again for some other Grandma looking for a missing stamp! Life is funny sometimes isn't it?
Susanne Vargas said...
Great lost and found story! How doubly lucky you are for finding the same stamp on ebay, winning the bid without paying a lot of money and then finding the original stamp again! The same thing happened to me years ago when I couldn't find my only watch. I looked everywhere, waited a few weeks and finally ordered a new one. Before it arrived my son found my watch in the back of a drawer!
Your card is adorable and every parent can relate to the sentiment...
Verna Angerhofer said...
Cute, cute card. And, glad you found the missing stamp. At least you did not lose it for three years like I did with one of mine. LOL
Diane Jaquay said...
Love the simplicity of your card!
Kim Heggins said...
Fabulous card Darnell and those cars are just too cute! That is always the way it works, you will never find what is missing until you replace...just the way it works! Now each of the twins will have there very own stamp!
Jessi Fogan said...
Now just make sure to store these stamps in separate locations, and all will be well. lol! My favourite 'lost until I bought another' was my marriage certificate...which was *ahem* under my desk in its plastic wallet holder thingy. $27 later I now have 2 :) Just in case, you know.
I love the turkoys car, and I also love spelling it turkoys.
Super cute, Darnell!! Like how you wrote in the sentiment!! What did you use for the windows?? That looks like it would be good for a mirror idea I have..... xo
Pia S said...
Now you've at least hot a back up in case this favorite stamp gets lost again. You never know, it might come in handy after all!
I like your fun little one one layer scene!
Princess Judy Palmer said...
Isn't that just the way it always happens. Sometimes I just rush out and buy the replacement so the original will show up--you know get the cycle over and done with.
This is a grate card and would suit me well since I'm always asking if I'm there yet. I'm not sure where "there" is but darn it all, I want to know when I get there.
Hammy is sooooo clever and sooooo creative! These buggies are absolutely fun, fun, fun! Love the bright blue bug!
Great story about the missing stamp! Don't you just love double happy endings!
Kathleen said...
This sentiment must be utter by nearly every child after about 10 minutes setting off from home. We have all been there but only you would think of it.
When we were very young, only my Grandad had a car so we weren't really used to travelling in one and my Sister always fell asleep, so after 10 minutes my Grandad would always look in the mirror and say "are you asleep yet".
You see you have brought back memories.
Cute card! Your lost stamp story made me laugh, but now you can sleep on both ears because you have a spare stamp!
I love your little scene, and Hammie's handwriting is great. Instead of "are we there yet?" my brother used to sit in the back seat, bang his head on the seat back and start singing "When we gonna get there?". Sometimes before we even got out of the driveway.
I'm glad you got the bid on the stamp. That assured you finding the other one. ;)
Barb Ghig said...
Love this fun card, Darnell! That adorable turquoise car is fabulous with your street sign and hammy written sentiment...Love it!
I'm so glad you found the stamp! It's always good to have a spare though, especially since it means so much to your grandson! I 'Knew' St. Anthony would come through...he always does! Best of luck in all of the challenges...and, thanks for the update!
Great story with the stamp. I thinks we have ALL had that happen to us. I was upset last year because after I took everything out of my craft room to put down and new floor and paint...so many items became "Lost" it took two years for me to find my Stampin' Up stamp that was my very first stamp set. I was upset that I lost it...and excited when it finally showed up...and would you believe...I still haven't used it yet since it's been refound! LOL
That's life! I had a very expensive die set and had lost one small die - but a die that was fundamental to the entire set. I loved the set - and figured that tiny little thing had fallen off into the garbage. I had just reordered the set, when my cat wandered into the craft area with something dangling from her mouth - the die! Luckily I was able to cancel the big order. I only recently got smart enough to put a small vanity size tray on my craft desk. It is simply to hold the parts and pieces of any card that I am currently working on - so if I pull out a die, it goes there - or if I pull a clear stamp off of a block, because I need the block for something else (and I'm not smart enough to immediately put the extra stamp back into its packaging), I have a handy-dandy tray to keep the stamp safe!
