How's it going? The world's kind of a mess right now and it's still Hades hot in my neck and around my woods, so let's escape to card land.
Today I'm popping in here like Jack, both the box and the rabbit, because I suddenly had this idea for a card for the adorable sketch at Case This Sketch and the doors to the challenge are closing in a matter of hours. Slam! Plus, I've got August staring down at me with both barrels and we all know what that means.
Here's my card:
And here's the sketch by the supremely talented Sam Simpson:
I'm sorry Sam, but I had to move the sediment position up to my cupcake to ground it. Nobody likes their cupcakes flying off the front of a card just when they're getting ready to take a big ol' lick of that yummy colorful washi frosting in fun stripey summer colors.
There is a birthday blog hop and party happening over at Merry Monday Christmas Challenge in honor of team member LeAnne Pugliese's birthday celebration! #Happy Birthday, LeAnne and many, many more!
And over at Addicted to Stamps and More, the theme is everyone's favorite "Anything Goes!"

New Friends Corner
Please welcome our newest friend, Rema of RT Impressions. Rema has been blogging since 2010. She works full-time and unwinds with her paper crafting and card art, which is fantastic! Rema is the proud grandmother of Levi and she loves reading, gardening, and the company of her two Jack Russell terriers.
That got me wondering why terriers get to be named after a person, like Jack Russell, and we don't, for instance, have Billy Wilson greyhounds or Frank Johnson beagles. I won't retype the answer because it's quite lengthy, but it's also quite interesting so here is the Wiki link all about Parson John Russell and the milkman's little female terrier named Trump who mothered the breed.

For those of us who are wives and mothers, you know how it is that once your babies starts walking, you are never allowed to go to the bathroom in peace again, right? Okay. I just want to know why little boy babies who grow up and get married continue that trait with their wives no matter how old they get! I mean, seriously?!
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy. LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!
Mmmmmm, looks delicious! I actually just ate a mini cupcake left over from my party, and it was tasty, but it had calories, and yours DOES NOT! So I would have to say I like yours better!!! So fun and cute! Thanks for helping me celebrate my birthday!
I love your cupcake Darnell, and gorgeous candy stripe colours are just great. I wanted to enter this too as I have a bee stamp which I have hardly used and a nice hexagon die, but unfortunately I ran out of time. Oh well, never mind, perhaps I will make a belated one anyway for the card box. x
ReplyDeleteOh yes, scrummy cup cake card Darnell definitely looks good enough to eat, love those colours. Talking of Jack Russell, my dad died whilst I was expecting my first baby (Katie) so we decided if we had a boy we would call him Jack after my dad. I spent hours trying to pick a middle name and eventually came up with........... Russell. I asked Jim what he thought and all I got back was an incredulous look and one word 'seriously'?? We still laugh about it now and Katie is so glad she was born a girl. I really liked the name Russell !!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs Lottie x
Sweet, sweet cupcake card! Love those fun stripes!
ReplyDeleteCute card and great job with the sketch
ReplyDeleteInteresting bit in regard to the Jack Russell. Our grandpuppy is part Jack Russell and the part about them being high energy just popped out at me. When our daughter brings her to our house to visit...I feel like a bullet just flew through our door.. She can really move!
Now this is one cute card. I love the hashtag embellishment.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you were able to get this card in. It turned out fantastic and I totally understand the moving of the sentiment. I struggled a ton with that placement on my card. I had several ideas that didn't pan out before I figured out one that would work and even at that had to rotate the entire sketch. :)
ReplyDelete# Fabulous card Darnell.
ReplyDeleteLove the cupcake!!
Only 8.30am and I just fancy one!! LOL!!!
I hope you have had a good week.
#Love Jules xx
FAB makes again today, Darnell, especially loving your CASe this sketch card.
ReplyDeleteBathroom breaks? No kids so ALL of my bathroom breaks are peaceful!
Happy Friday matey
Delicious looking cupcake card Darnell, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteLove, love this CAS card Darnell! Great way to use washi tape too. I love the sketch and might have to create a card today using it just to put in my stash. I love sketches! lol Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteI just finished making plain ol' chocolate cupcakes. Taking some to the kiddies to celebrate Grant's 8th. Not nearly as pretty as this delightful and all stripey cupcake! LOVE this!! All swirly too. Sweet #. Men have to follow you into the br because they need to tell/ask you something, because if they don't, right at that minute, they'll forget. And it might be something really important, like, 'honey, where are my socks?' Just sayin' Raising boys, I had a rule. If mom's in the br, don't even think about knocking! Seriously great card!!! Bev
ReplyDeleteThat striped washi makes great frosting, and the cupcake makes a great birthday card, perfect for the sketch.
ReplyDeleteYes, the world is a mess.
ReplyDeleteYour card is adorable, with that sweet Serendipity cupcake. Love the CAS look of this one. Fun way to use the washi tape and then add it to the side.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Good enough to eat and love the stripes. Cx
ReplyDeleteHashtag YUM!! Love the striped paper you used and great idea to move the sentiment and ground that cupcake!
ReplyDeleteLovely use of the sketch, Darnell! Fun birthday card!
ReplyDeleteThis card is super fun and totally made me smile!! Love the way you created the cupcake and I too think the sentiment looks better up close to the cupcake instead of down at the bottom!! Way to go - you have a super hit here!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun and bright card, Darnell. Loving the rainbow stripes against the white and that cupcake...yummy! Thanks for joining in the fun at ATSM this week. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteDarnell, this is just too cute! I love your sweet and yummy cupcake and that pastel paper is just as sweet.
ReplyDeleteYour #cupcake is awesome - and brilliant - and yummy! Good thing we're going to the 'big city' today for *more* bike races (and tomorrow, and Sunday), otherwise I'd have to bake some! My trips to the bathroom are often disrupted by my husband, preceded with, "What are you doing in there"? Seriously...men! Hugs~c
