Greetings Fellow Whooshers!
Another Friday. They come through here like cars trying to get the pole position at the big race. Whoosh.
I've been so busy. If you just give me a minute, I'm sure I'll be able to think doing what.
It certainly wasn't working on cards. All I have to show you since you were here last is a QACAS Thanksgiving card. It came about because I saw a couple of challenges ... you know how it goes.
I had prezackly three of the skeleton leaves left in my stash that I must've purchased around ten years ago from SU. I took my inks in the requested colors and sponged them over the ecru colored leaves. It worked a treat. That red leaf above looks like it was inked with a distinct area of darker and lighter, but that is just a shadow through the leaf from taking the picture in the sunshine.
The sediment is from Hero Arts, heat embossed in Imprintz e/p. I have to say, I think I need to get some new white e/p. I tried three times (never more) to get a clean emboss against the black and this was the best I could do. I think the powder gets old? Or no? Operator error?
The paper is PTI true black with a PTI white liner and the leaf is from Dress It Up. Shazambam, Sam!

Luckily three leaves is all I needed for the color challenge at The Card Concept, which are red, yellow, and lime (plus white). The leaves are sorta layered, but I think we have to call my style for this EZPZ card "Clean and Simple."
The other challenges that worked:
The other challenges that worked:
- I used the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.
- I used the theme at Simply Create Too, which is "Fall/Autumn."
- I used the theme at Addicted to Stamps and More, which is "Holiday."

Perfect leaf card. Don't up pose you'd care to pick up the pile that have already fallen in our garden? Naw. Didn't think so. Hugs Mrs A.
Had to smile at your typo...sediment:)

Lynn
I love the leaves against that background. Very stylish and perfect colors for Autumn.
GORGEOUS!!! I love the look of the skeleton leaves and you've done these up to perfection!!
You have such a gift on the CAS to make it look spectacular. I fear I am one of those cardmakers that has to keep adding stuff.....kinda like someone who talks too much to make up for having nothing of value to say!!! :D

Oooooh, look at that! Lovely card...& you got 3 challenges done. How you manage that is beyond me. The best I can do is 2, if I meet the deadline. I do think E.P., especially white, does get clumpy cuz mine's doing the same thing & it's maybe 4 years old. Could it be humidity? Have no idea why. Hope you enjoy the flick, it's one I intend to see, too.
Happy Friday Darnell!
Those skeleton leaves are beautifully inked! I had some of these too and loved and hoarded and nowhere to be found...darn. I would love to ink them up like you. Love your card, the white embossing and the teeny maple leaf!
Hope you have enjoyed the Jane Fonda movie.
Hugs-Chriss
This reminds me that I bought some of these leaves a while back. Hmmm! I never thought about coloring them. Actually, I guess I didn't think about them again after I put them on the shelf! Your gorgeous card reminds me. Now if I can just remember long enough to get to the craft room.....Have a great weekend.
Stunning card, Darnell! Those leaves are gorgeous!
Such a pretty card!!! Love the leaves! Happy Friday! :)
Darnell: I knew I'd love your Thanksgiving card--so so so pretty! Thank you for joining in the fun at Simply Create Too's "Fall Challenge #70.

These skeleton leaves brighten up this black background, which really make them stand out. A brilliant simple design!
Darnell, your card is jaw-dropping GORGEOUS!! Great take on all the above mentioned challenges. Your heat embossing looks good to me, mine turns out really bad.I need to learn the correct way to do it.
I've just slept my Friday away getting rid of a migraine!
I have packets of at least 10 year old leaves somewhere, they must have been a fad! Yours look good on a card!
As for the aging embossing powder - it could explain my latest (not yet blogged) results, or it could be all of the ink is drying at the same time!
Cazzy x
These leaves are just gorgeous! Thankfully Friday came around quickly -- it's been a heck of a week!
I remember having leaves like that.... I used them on some scrapbooking layouts, so I guess that means I still have them. LOL!
I love your pretty fall card and how you used the CTS Sketch!
So beautiful! Love the colors on the black background. Fab card.
Your card is absolutely stunning in it's colour style and simplicity. I love it. Wish I could do CAS well.

I love those leaves on black base, Very pretty card :)
Simple and stunning, this week has been the same for me I have no idea what I have done but have done nothing that I intended to.
KAth x
Very pretty leaves, Darnell! Stunning! Hugs!
Gorgeous Thanksgiving card Dolly! LOVE those skeleton leaves! Lolly xx
I really love what you did with those skeleton leaves, you did a great job colouring them without them ripping up! Love the dark background too, it makes the white sentiment stand out so beautifully. I am not sure where the time has gone this week either..... have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Annie xxx
Those leaves are amazing. I bought a pack myself a few weeks ago and am yet to use them. They are white but hadn't thought about changing the colour with ink or markers. I will give that a go. Thanks for the inspiration and for playing along at ATSM xx
Beautiful leaves Darnell. Lovely card.
So pretty, Darnell! Those leaves are so delicate and lovely. And aren't you glad you finally got to use them?
Beesmom at splitcoast
I didn't know SU made those leaves at one time, Darnell. They sure are pretty! They make a fabulous focal point on the dark background.
Had to laugh when you said, "I've been busy. If you give me a moment, I can think of what it was" (maybe I didn't get that quote just right). I do that ALL THE TIME!! LOL
Love Love Love this card Darnell - those feathers look amazing! Hugs xx
WoW! I am loving these leaves. Never saw them - but I was buying fabric back in those days. Made a wonderfully simple but so very effective card. Don't know if the EP gets old, but I know that the large bottles of Glossy Accents will turn yellow as it gets old. I've learned to buy just the smaller bottles and use it faster, so that as it dries, it doesn't leave splotches. Your EP looked fine to me. Hero Arts makes a nice white EP. I really like the Ranger fine details, and especially the Queen's gold. Happy wkend, Hugs & TFS. Whooshies.
LOVE the skeleton leaves -- I do believe that's before I knew SU existed? I agree that ep does get old, or at least that it's the perfect excuse. You don't appear to have speckles, so there's that! Beautiful card.
Those leaves are just gorgeous, like none other I've ever seen before. Happy Friday to you - have a happy crafting weekend :)
Those leaves are beautiful colored like that, Darnell. I guess it does pay to save some things. ;)
What a great idea! Now...where are my skeleton leaves? Darnell, this is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
Great job with all the challenges!
with this cute card.
And thank you for the nice visit to both my blog and my hubby..
Very pretty!!
Such a beautiful card! Those leaves look real! I thought you'd gone and collected leaves from your yard. I love this QACAS card, Darnell!
ah what clever idea.. might have to try and member that Darnell for using up my NBUS think I need a NBUS pin-board on pinterest. :D thanks for sharing Shaz in Oz.x
Great idea to ink the feathers and how fab to use up the stash. I like how you have grounded them with the little leaf. Have a fun weekend hon x
Super colours and I still think those leaves are beautiful... Love the little leaf; it fits perfect! A real fall card! Enjoy the weekend, hugs, Gerrina
Fab idea, I now need to find mine, I know I've got some somewhere! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has to think about what I've been busy doing, and prezackly is going to be my word of the week! Thanks for making us laugh, you are such good medicine xxx
Wow, beautiful, Darnell ... those delicate, richly coloured leaves are so striking against the black! Whooshed round to Friday (or Saturday now!) is so right ... no, where did I put that pause button?! Hugs, Anita :)
Hi Darnell,
well after seeing this stunning card pop up on my blog list I just had to leave a comment - Wow!
Fantastic idea to colour the leaves with inks and it looks very dramatic on the black background.
Well done you!!
xx
Your leaves look beautiful! I think I still have a few of those from back in the day too!! I love how you took something older and refurbished it with ink to make it totally relevant!!
Beautiful leaves on that card. Everything comes round again in what is in "vogue." Maybe you'll start the skeleton leaves craze again! Have a fabulous weekend!
Oh, I love skeleton leaves and I never thought of colouring them!! They look beautiful in their autumn colours, Darnell!! Your black bg is perfect to have the leaves look their best and your white embossing looks great!! Lovely card!!!
Hope you enjoyed your lunch and movie!!
Have a super weekend!!!
This is simply stunning! I had some of those skeleton leaves but they went about 4 purges ago! Thanks for joining us at the Card Concept!
Gorgeous card!! Enjoy your lunch!
Well this is lovely. I love the shearness of the leaves and coloring them is ingenious. My best, Barb
Wonderful card. I finally ran through my stash of skeleton leaves form years ago. They were so popular back then and I love to use them. I still have the skeleton leaf stamps, but they are quite the same.
Anyway, well done, the card is beautiful.
love your trick to colore the skeleton leaves...great color combo and great card with that black background card base..BEAUTIFULLY done dear Darnell....see you again on your next post :)
Gorgeous skeleton leaves Darnell!! I have several of those in the depths of a drawer in my craft room - but none so brilliantly colored - a beautiful fall card!
This is a simply lovely card! Love how you treated the skeleton leaves! I think that e/p can get clumpy but not sure if that's due to age or humidity. Is it clumpy or are you referring to extra white around the stamped part even where you haven't stamped? Do you have one of those embossing buddy bags? The ones that have a powdery substance in them? If not get one. If you rub it across your paper first then stamp and emboss it will help prevent the powder from sticking to the paper giving a cleaner look. If that's not the problem I'd get some new powder. :-). Hugs!
You are awesome, Darnell! I love that you've used all the wonderful colors in the inspiration photo. What a fresh and hip Thanksgiving card!
The leaves look fantastic against the black - very dramatic! So glad you joined us at The Card Concept, Darnell!
Hi Darnell,
oh my you have worked wonders inking those leaves, as they are so fragile.
Great designed card.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Absolutely stunning! I love the 10 year old leaves...and you are brilliant to color them .....I don't think I would have thought do that! Hugs!
Dear Darnell, I like your thanksgiving card. The colours of the leaves are awesome. I don't see any mistake by embossing . :-) It seams perfect!
I like your way of writing. :-) You made me laugh. And you are right about the running of the weeks. It is too fast. :-)
Have a nice Sunday. Hugs, Sonja
Cool card, thanks for the write up,
Liz x
Those three leaves look fabulous on the black card! Love how you dyed them! Thanks for reminding me that I also have some of those leaves somewhere! Now to find them...
Love your Thanksgiving card, Darnell. Thanks for the reminder~I have had those same leaves for at least 10 years too! Mine are are shaped a little different than yours, but I think I can still CASE this card and use some of em up :-)
Wow...you are so ahead of the game here with Thanksgiving already??? So beautiful and those leaves are just amazing. Thank you so much for playing along with us at The Card Concept.
I never have used my skeleton leaves--not eve sure where they are! You make me want to find them, though--love this card, Darnell!
Stunning use of colour and texture! Love the way you interpreted the sketch, Darnell. This is a knockout! Thanks for joining us at Case this Sketch!
Talk about a great find from your old SU stash...This is absolutely GORGEOUS, Darnell! I love the autumn color palette and your CAS design is just perfect! I love how they pop against the black background, too! Stunning card!!!
i LOVE THAT SOMETHING SIMPLE CAN HAVE SUCH A BIG IMPACT! (wOOPS! i PUSHED THE WRONG BUTTON - OH WELL!) cHEERS, jANELLE.
What a wonderful autumn card Darnell!! Love this simple style!
Thanks so much for joining us at Simply Create Too.

Wow...skeleton leaves having new life breathed into them on your stunning card! Utterly gorgeous!!
Hugs~c
Beautiful card, those leaves are stunning!
Way to use up that Stash! Perfect fit for the inspiration photo. Thanks for joining in on the fun at The Card Concept!
Don't you just love it when you have an immediate idea for a challenge and know exactly what to use?? Those leaves look divine and are perfect with their fall colours. I have similar problems with white embossing on black, I can never get it looking crisp and clean. Even when I use my static bag, the powder sticks everywhere. I think I have too much natural static in my body!
The beautiful skeleton leaves make a lovely autumn card. I have some in my stash which I have yet to use. You've coloured them beautifully. Thank you for joining us at ATSM.
... I think that your embossed sentiment looks great! "Does ep get old?" Good question!
Gorgeous sponged leaves, stunning against the dark background. The small (but mighty) rusty colored leaf really does a great job anchoring the larger leaves!

Gorgeous leaves on this black ground. The little added leaf on the bottom draws the look together. Sometimes my embossing powder clumps for no reason that I can see. It must be having a bad day!
Hey Darnell! I too have some of those leaves in my stash and I always wonder what I will do with them. Never even thought of inking them up. Duh! Thanks for the inspiration and thanks for playing at The Card Concept!
Gorgeous card, love the leaves too! ~Diane
love this!
So purty. I'm gettin' a graphic turkey on this one even... Call me crazy. Never thought about inking those skeleton leaves. Great idea. Thanks for joining the Simply Create Too fun!
This is lovely and I love those leaves!! So cool the way you sponged color onto them!! I think embossing powder does get old cuz I have had trouble with some of mine recently and it is old!! Thanks for all you do here at your blag and how it always brings a smile to my face!!
Wow, this card is stunning Auntie Darnell! I love those leaves, never owned any, but always loved them. I never knew you could ink over them, but why wouldn't you be able to?! Love, love the colors and the little leaf. I have no idea if embossing powders go bad, but I would assume so after a while. Wouldn't you think the powder would break down after a while and not melt as well??? Humm, that is such a good question! Hugs, Brenda
