I'm stopping in with a card I made for the 100th Challenge over at the always-fun and always-challenging CAS(E) This Sketch. I've been a devotee of this challenge since the beginning and with this celebration, Chrissy has brought together current AND former outstanding design team members to enchant and inspire us! Yummo!
When I saw the sketch, I immediately thought of a rooftop. And since I'm making holiday cards, what better rooftop than a church rooftop?
I used my NBUS Papertrip Ink Tip Top dies to cut several roof peaks out of both gold paper and a scrap of beautiful woodgrain paper from GKW. The sediment is from PTI's "Fillable Frames #8 Mini" and the cross I cut from a gold snippet.
That's it. QACAS. I wish I could have taken a picture in the sunshine for you so you could see how the gold sparkles IRL. Then again, you're here because you have a brilliant Imaginarium on your shoulders so I know you can see it.

When the twins were little guys, one of their favorite interactive songs was, "Here Is the Church, Here Is the Steeple." (I don't know really know if that's the name of it.) It goes:
Here is the church,
Here is the steeple,
Open the door,
And see all the people!
While you sing it you make a steeple with your hands together and then intertwine your fingers and then you open your thumbs (doors) and turn your hands inside out so your fingers (people) waggle back and forth!
Goodness, they loved it! They would clap and laugh and chorus in unison, "Do it again, Bama!"
Do you know it? Is this a universal song for little children?

I'm hoping to post at least one more Thanksgiving card (poor Thanksgiving gets short shrift!) and after that I'll be cranking out the Christmas cards. You may be seeing more posts from me as I share them with you and I'm looking forward to seeing your creations, too!
I hate to tell you, but all of a sudden we are down to a measly FORTY DAYS until Christmas!!! If you are mailing cards overseas, that's "gulp" time! Oh, I'm sorry. Here, let me help you up.

Oh, and I DO know that little church ditty! Used to play that all the time when my girls were young--and those were the exact words to the rhyme! :)

Our children sing the little church song here in England as well, I remember it from when I was a child, and my children and grandchildren all sang it,and now soon my little great granddaughters will be old enough to learn it too.

How clever are you? Pretty darn clever...all I saw when I first beheld the sketch was a Christmas tree top...as did everyone else. But not you...genius. Of course, I know the "Steeple Song", too. I thought everybody did. Used it to entertain my offspring ad nauseum. She was delighted...my fingers were sore.
A roof top indeed,and I am loving your roof top Auntie! The gold is amazing and I love the paper in between the gold layers! The sentiment is perfect and of course you have to have a cross if it is a church. Well done! Oh yes, I know the "church and the steeple" song and yes, I adored it too when I was young and loved when ever anyone would do it for me, just like the twins. It just seemed like magic to me cause I couldn't figure out how the "people" got in there. Another was when someone "stole" my nose. That one really got me and I couldn't figure out how I could still breathe. lol Yeah, I never said I was the sharpest tool in the shed! lol Hugs, Brenda

Stunning design with the gold mirror paper and that dp is lovely too. It's a simple yet so very effective look, and I'm always drawn to the religious themes of this season. Hard to find pretty images to fit it. You made your own, and it's wonderful. Yes, I know that rhyme. My parents played that game with me, and same was passed along to our DD. TFS & Hugs.

I love the gold and the sentiment. Yes, my grandmother taught us the 'here's the church' and that was more than 50 years ago, and she was in her 60's then. So it has been around for a long time.

I lived in Ohio (US) for over 60 years and know that saying. I've been teaching it all the kids I've come in contact with. Thanks for the memory!

I saw this card and it immediately brought me back to the church yards and the great stained glass windows. So if you were going for evocative of a church, you nailed it!

Love your roof and cross, Darnell. Why didn't I think to use my Tipped Tops? And I can't believe yours are NBUS. For a reason I can't recall, a bunch of us oldies were singing that song at church a couple of weeks ago. I think it IS universal.

Fab take in the sketch and love hoe you placed the cross, I really need to get some religious stamps for XMas. We have a childhood song that we still sing! When you have been out in the car and coming home at a certain road we start singing a song that finishes as you get to the drive. It is called 'home' I won't write it all out but it is basically about how we all love our home and family. My poor hubby has to sing it now when we go to my parents!!
Love your QACAS card. Really nice. Yes we do the same rhyme here in Australia and my daughter, Elysha will entertain my granddaughter for ages with it. They both laugh so much I love the sound of such innocence.
You just know I'm going to love this, Darnell ... the shimmery gold, the hint of stained glass in the DP ... and that cross ... just so perfect ... and modern ... and did I say perfect?? This is a lovely card. I love the cross on the roof and the soft woodgrain paper. That along with the perfect sediment - gorgeous. We always did that saying and popped up the fingers too. The kids would just giggle. Forty days? That can't be right - oh my gosh. I may have to panic!

Simply Paper Card Design
This is a great interpretation of the sketch Darnell and I love the gold with the that pretty sort of marbled woodgrain with the pretty blue colour running through it. I too have to be getting on with Christmas cards as I am way behind. By the way over here we do have the 'here is the church' rhyme with the hand actions, in fact I can remember doing it for my son when he was small, but as far as I can remember we just said it as it didn't have a tune. I don't have grandchildren yet but looking at all the replies it sounds as though it is still around. x

The church song with the hands must be universal as I did it when I was a child and taught it to my children. I wonder how long its been around for?? Love the simple but classy card. You can never go past gold and that woodgrain paper is beautiful. I must join in with this challenge as its one of the first ones I linked to back in January (and I think I even go an HM??). Hope they are around for at least another 100 more!

Your card is a marvelous take on the sketch; one that had me running away at 100 miles an hour (okay, maybe not that fast, but close). Your verse: my niece and nephew LOVE it, especially when my wiggly 'people' tickle their noses!
