Happy New Week Greetings!
I hope this fresh, clean, never-been-used-before Monday is treating you right!
I've got a houseful of cards to share with you today, so let's get started. First up are a couple of thank you cards that just scream thanks!
This QACAS thank you card uses a diagonal banner from Lil' Inkers and a script thanks die from Memory Box. The papers are DSP from SU and the enamel dots are from My Mind's Eye.
I'm linking up this card with a sweet little challenge called Words 2 Scrap By. This month the challenge is all about gratitude and kindness, which is very timely. The words for this month are:
I'm linking up this card with a sweet little challenge called Words 2 Scrap By. This month the challenge is all about gratitude and kindness, which is very timely. The words for this month are:
"You cannot do a kindness too soon because
you never know how soon it will be too late."
True that.
After I made the above card, I went looking for a color challenge and made this one:
The angles on this card came about by pure accident when the two patterned papers and the white diagonal paper were cogitating on my desk. "Whoa, cool!" Hammy yelled from my right shoulder.
Sometimes the little rascal wanders out of his cage and up along my arm when I'm busy concentrating and I don't even notice. Guessing that I'm blissfully unaware, he delights in yelling into my ear. I proceed to jump a foot, which sends him arse over teakettle rolling down my back and over the lip of the chair seat. I swear, one of these days in my startle, I'm going to send that chair rolling and he's gonna be one squished hamster!
Any whizzle, I loved the angle, so that explains why the design is slightly different. Oh, before I forget, the color challenge I mentioned is from Pals Paper Arts. They are crushed curry, olive green, and pumpkin pie. That's appetizers and dessert taken care of. Throw in a turkey and some veggies and we've got us a Thanksgiving dinner!
And guess what popped up as Anne's newest challenge over at The Paper Players? A thank you card! Bless my soul, I'm a four-leaf clover!
I'm also linking up with another favorite challenge of mine, Pixie's Snippets Playground, thanks to a reminder from my Playmate, Carol. All you need to do to join in the fun at the Playground is use snippets (scraps) on your card, something I actually did on all my cards today!
~~~
Next up is a Thanksgiving card using the same pretty color scheme from PPA:
I made this card in honor of the 2nd birthday of Addicted to CAS! Happy Birthday to Kylie and the gang and many, many more! Thank you for two years' worth of fun challenges! This week's challenge is brought to us by uber-designer and my dear friend, Karen. She has chosen a sketch for us, which I took very literally:
The leaves and die are "Fall Leaf Trio" by Memory Box. The background was made by scribbling my SU markers in the challenge colors onto my acrylic block, spritzing them with water, and then slapping that onto a glossy card. Before matting, the panel for the leaves and the card base were embossed with Sizzix "Distressed Stripes" e/f. The sediment stamp, outlined punch, and ribbon are all from SU.
This card is also for the "Thanksgiving/Thank You" challenge over at Simply Create Too.
Next up is a DJKASE birthday card I made for me-and-the-Mister's one and only son's birthday today! Happy birthday to you, Daniel Jedediah, and many, many more!
Darnell's card |
My card is a direct copy of this enchanting 12-Kit card made by my friend Kim of Cupcakes, Cards, and Kim:
Kim's card |
Isn't that a great CAS design?! I held off getting that tip top die from PTI for quite a while, thinking, "How hard can it be to cut a piece of paper at an angle?", but it was beautiful cards like Kim's that made me change my mind and I'm glad I did. I think there are going to be lots of fun things I can make with this die (such as in my last post) and it comes with some great "happy" dies. Thank you for the inspiration, Kim!
For my card, I used always artichoke papers and ink from SU and a sediment, DSP, and vintage cream papers from PTI.
This card is being linked with the "Anything Goes Birthday" challenge at Seize the Birthday (where there are also toppings of "orange" if you like):
All the links in this post will take you to the featured challenges where you can find the details about rules, sponsors, and prizes! I hope you can join in!!
It was so great meeting the kids and kidlets yesterday for a celebratory birthday lunch! It had been a couple of months and that is just too long when we live so close. Rachel took a quick pic of me with Adam and Henry to share with you:
You even get to see my new eyes. That's not eye shadow I'm wearing, but I must say the bruises do make for a lovely smokey look! It's early days, but I swear I can see better!
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy. LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!

I LOVE how you used the sketch, Darnell. The woodgrain background is stunning and that leaf... bee-yoo-ti-ful!!! Thanks so much for your birthday wishes. 2 years and still going strong. Thank YOU for all your continued support at ATCAS xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a great serie of cards! All so great in colours and backgrounds!
ReplyDeleteThe boys are growing/changing; it is a great pic and you can see you had fun! Have a fun week, hugs, Gerrina
Wonderful cards, Darnell. I also bought an angled die but haven't been able to use it yet, and right now it's located in some box in my craftroom to be. We're in the middle of moving house. We are already living (and working, me that is) in the new house but still have a lot of stuff to bring over from the old house before the end of the month, so the boxes are piling up and it will be some time before I can do any serious crafting again. Have a wonderful week or, as they say in Greece: Kali evdomada!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards, Darnell! The angled die is fab and I love your layering on the other cards, too. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteSuch a treat, a wonderful selection of beautifully designed cards and a beautiful photo too.
ReplyDeletehugs Sue xx
You're on a roll Darnell with those fab cards.
ReplyDeleteIf you hadn't mentioned the eyes I couldn't tell, you appear to have made a great recovery! :)
Great cards Darnell and lovely PIC if you and the boys too. Especially like your thanks cards - so simple but so very effective.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards Darnell! all of them are very thoughtfully done, the colors are brilliant. Nice picture of you with your kidlets!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Darnell. I like your colour combinations and designs. Great work. Hugs, Veerle xxx
ReplyDeleteO, what a wonderful bouquet of CAS cards, Dear Darnell! I do like angels on your second thank you card and can understand your darlings yell by seeing it. :-) Perhaps you should have a sign YELLING FORBIDDEN in your playhouse... :-)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day, Sonja
Loving all the cards. I'd be hard pushed to pick a favourite.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo of you with your grandsons.
Hope you have a good start to the week. Sue
Oh what a fabulous set of cards. I love all the angles on the first two and the fall cards - wowzers are the color combos gorgeous. And you are looking wonderful with the twins! xoxo

ReplyDeleteWowzers Darnell you came back from your surgery break with gusto!! These are all fabulous. That rascal Hammy has a good eye. Love your CASE of Kim's card, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteWow you have been busy Darnell and all are gorgeous! What a great idea that angled mat is and the papers are such lovely colours, and I particularly like the extra little angled piece on the second one. I adore the pretty leaves on the Thanksgiving card, and then more beautiful autumn colours for your son's card which I'm sure he will have loved. What a great picture with the twins who are looking so grown up now, and so pleased for you that the op has worked so well. x
ReplyDeleteWow, these are amazing card Auntie! I love, love that first one-well I love them all, but that one is my favorite because of the color combo. lol Oh I'm so glad Hammy didn't get squished by your chair, he had been watch screaming in your ear!! The picture of you and the boys is awesome!! You look fabulous and one would never know you had bruises on your new eyelids because as you said they make for a great smoky eye! You look lovely as always, bruises and all and the boys are just plain adorable! Look out ladies, I think they are going to be heartbreakers! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteI love these angled cards. The thank yous are great. I keep looking at the Fall leaf Trio stamp. That is so cool how three leaves are combined in one stamp. Also, your spritzed background is really pretty. Your case of Kim's card will "Wow" your son. The boys are really growing up so handsome. Great picture of all of you. Your eyes look good and healed well. I can't tell you just had surgery. You may have to slip Hammy a tranquilizer when you work so he will calm down!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful cards Darnell. Love the colours and design of the birthday card and the super layout of the second 'thanks' card xx
ReplyDeleteYou have been a busy lady, making all these great cards. Great pic with you and your gransons...One to treasure...Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful!! I love the colours you put together!! I don't have such a good eye for colour :-P
ReplyDeleteI love the story about your hamster too! I used to have a hamster we called houdini (it turned in to harry in the end) because he kept escaping in the night!!
You've been a busy beaver, Darnell! What a gorgeous gallery of cards. I love all your angular pieces, something I'm not very good at doing. Love to hear about your hamster inspiration, too! Perhaps I need one, LOL! Thanks for playing along with us this week at The Paper Players!
ReplyDeleteHooray for seeing better! I can't believe how much the twins are growing - you feed them and they keep growing! Love all these gorgeous cards :)
ReplyDeleteLovely array of cards. Adore that thanks die - you enabler you! Great photo of you and the boys :) Didn't even notice any bruising. Trusting the surgery has helped the vision too!
ReplyDeleteGirl you have been busy!! Thank you for sharing all these delightful works of art!! I LOVE the angles too : )
ReplyDeleteYour mug looks great! and so do your sweet boys! : )
Patti
Lovely cards. How nice to CASE the card of a friend, rather flattering. I keep a small notebook to write down products I may want, I did not say need, and the die cut from PTI has just been added - very interesting. Happy Healing!
ReplyDeleteWonderful array of cards. I misread apple for angle and was sat here wondering wot the eck an apple had to do with it all!
ReplyDeleteAs it was surplus to requidnents I ate it. ( have to say it didn't work cos The Doc is still ere).
Hugs Mrs A.

Fabulous array of cards, Darnell! Love your DJKASE of Kim's gorgeous card, I think that's my favourite. What a great photo of you and the boys, too :)
ReplyDeleteFour fabulous cards Dolly. LOVE the texture of your striped background for your leaf card ... and great technique to colour the leaves. Lolly xx
ReplyDeleteYou are looking great! Love all the angles on these cards, especially your son's birthday card. I had the same thoughts about the Tip Top dies, but they do make the angled designs so much easier to execute and I love the happy dies that came with them. True story - driving home from a road trip last week we were stopped at Jedediah Smith road & I told the kids I wanted them to name their 3rd born child Jedediah - love that name :)
ReplyDeleteWas it your birthday, my dear, or your kidlets? I love the "accidental" angle card. The angles are just so great. You've been a busy girl! Very lovely cards and I'm glad your eyes are healing.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Stunning cards Darnell! I LOVE the angle card the best!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your seeing things a little better.
Have a great week........darling GKS in the photo with you.
Those are really cool, and graphic (in a good way!) cards. Nice to see you "looking" good and not as much like a panda as I was imagining! HB to Dan too, and the kidlets, so cute as usual, but would probably hate me saying so!! Enjoy your sunny, warm weather, light snow here today and we haven't been above 32F for a couple of days and it's gonna get worse before it gets better!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Brenda
What adorable grandkids Darnell !! A GREAT picture!! Glad your feeling better and LOVE your cards esp the one with the leaf!!
ReplyDeleteWow, a plethora of beautiful cards from you today Darnell, they are all wonderful - the second one is so quirky and clever!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture of you with the boys, I enlarged the photo but could not see any dark bits, I think you are looking good girl! Big hugs, Annie xxx
Such gorgeous cards Darnell, thank you for sharing with Simply Create Too. A fabby pic of you and your grandsons, you must be very proud of them.
ReplyDeleteWarm hugs
Maarit
Well you have been busy. Hope the birthday celebration was as good as that picture of you and the twins. I think you should try to stay with that smoky eye shadow...it does things for you.
ReplyDeleteHow's this Monday treating me??? Well, aside from an all-night 5-post crafting marathon that was worth every moment today, it is fine. Little Peach slept late (thank goodness!!) so I got (a little bit) more sleep than I expected. Still, I think I need one of those eye surgeries today just to keep my lids open!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour cards are wonderful!! I love the angles on your second card!!! Your CAS style is always so delightful. I even made a CAS card in my marathon session....quite different for me!
Have a lovely week!! Enjoyed seeing your grandsons and your new eyes!

ReplyDeleteThese cards are amazing! Love how you changed up the colors from deep pastels to gorgeous fall shades - all soooooo pretty!
But...the twinks steal the show! I adore their hair!!!

Beautiful cards, Darnelle! What handsome grandsons you have! Glad to hear that you think you can see better!

ReplyDeleteIs there anything that you don't celebrate in America, lol!
ReplyDeleteThese are simple and stunning cards and a great way to use up those SU papers (I still have them too)
Your eyes look great and not as bad as I thought, I was prepared to call you Suzy, ok an oldie but a goody, Pretty Little Black eyed Suzy, Guy MItchell, loved his songs.
Boys look like you, and look like nice Lads, great photo.
Kath x
Such a fabulous collection of thank you cards. You are so creative. And, your boys are quite handsome.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your cards Darnell! I especially love the happy accident with the angled layered papers! What a great picture of you and the Twinks! You look fabulous - can't tell you are bruised still at all!
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy. I love how bold the greetings are on your thanks cards. And those cards with the leaves are just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely selection of cards you have for us today Darnell. I love the Happy Thanksgiving card with the beautiful leaves and distressed stripes, just gorgeous. I must confess I have a bit lot of a thing about things being symmetrical so I didn’t like the idea of the die that cuts at an angle but seeing your DJKSEd card (of Kims) for your son’s birthday, I have to say I really like it’s quirkiness. Yay there is hope for me and my foibles yet! Hope Daniel had a great birthday, love his middle name BTW and also the pic of you and your grandchildren, glad things are settling with the eyes, couldn’t see the bruising just a happy smiling face. Hugs Lottie x
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I owe you a huge apology for being MIA...I've missed visiting you so much! I never realized how much work it is to be on 2 DT's...yikes! Please forgive me :)
ReplyDeleteYour cards are absolutely AMAZING, Darnell! I love how you played with your new PTI die and that gorgeous die cut sentiment fits perfectly in your Lil' Inkers panel...what a home run! I'm with Hammy, too...I think your last thanks card is very cool...may have to CASE is sometime, if that's ok?
Thanks so much for sharing that lovely photo of you and those 2 handsome boys! I'm sure your son loved his card with all those gorgeous autumn leaves, too! I hope he has a very Happy Birthday, and that all of his birthday wishes come true!
Also, I want to say thank you so much for all the lovely comments you've left on my blog! I appreciate it very much...Hugs to you, Barb
Ohhhhhh, I LOVE these cards with the diagonal angles! I just caved and bought the Lil Inker rectangles and now I may have to do some more shopping with them! LOL What a great way to use those left-over snippets of dsp! (hint hint - Snippets Playground anyone?)
ReplyDeleteGreat picie of the twins, and I'm glad your eyes are healing and improving your vision!
You and Hammy are such a good team! And this is quite a wonderful bevy of beautiful cards! I like your smoky eye look and the boys are handsome as ever. You all have matching smiles that brighten up the whole space!
ReplyDeleteYou must be seeing better since you've been stamping up a storm, Darnell. I thought like you did about cutting angles but those dies make it so much easier. Just look how fast you made 3 cards with them. I love your ATCAS card, too. Great smiles on all of you in the photo. The boys enjoy being with Bama. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful picture of you & the twinks! They grow up so fast & you never get those times back. You are really on a roll, Darnell--wonderful cards & now I guess I'll have to get that PTI die, too--LOL! I love the first card & the one for your son--really caught my eye!
ReplyDeleteAll your cards are wonderful but I think my favourite is the last one. Love the CAS layout and those awesome leaves. Thanks so much for joining us at Seize the Birthday!
ReplyDeleteAll of your cards are fantabulous, but I think the best pic is the last one with you and the boys! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, those boys are getting big! But they are still very cute (don't tell them though, they probably won't like that)...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards! Love the graphic Thank you cards, the rustic Thanksgiving and the one for your son is totally swoon worthy! So you would recommend buying those dies, huh? I've been eyeing them but, like you, always think I can cut those wonky angles myself (but then never do)...
I love the angles of your card and the leaves!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you played along with us at Seize the Birthday!
Oh my gosh, what an amazing set of card! You sure have been busy! And, to think you carved out family time with the twins, too. :)
ReplyDeleteAll the cards are great, but I think my favorite is the accidental angled one. Very, very cool!
And, of course, I'm partial to the card you linked up to our November Words 2 Scrap By challenge. Your ongoing support of our blog in its inaugural year is greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much for all you've done for us.
Awesome cards. Love the two thank you cards, but the thanksgiving card is stunning. All the different elements make it!

Some cute boys with that snazzy Granma. Loving those sexy new eyes. I didn't see any eye shadow!!! Looks just beautimous. Those guys are getting so grown up. TFS & Big Hugs.
