Hello, dear hearts!
I hope you had a lovely weekend! We had rain, lots of rain and, oh, how we loved every wet glossy droplet in this drought-starved place. We are truly starting the week with a clean and slippery slate!
I've been wrapped up in Valentines and other life schtuff, so I'm not posting as often, so be warned this is a three-cuppa post!
I wish the Valentine holiday didn't come so soon after Christmas (especially when you throw in a NBUS challenge in January), but I have so many heart-related crafty toys, that it seemed a sin not to send the hamster into the Hearts container for a few card ideas. Who knows, like Christmas, I just may start making Valentines all year long!
Today I am featuring the Memory Box die "Heart of Hearts."

This card is pretty self-exploratory. The front die-cut panel is popped up over a smaller panel which I covered in alternating rows of very, very sparkly pink and grey Washi tape. The photo is not the best as I had to quickly snap a couple of shots during a sorta sunny break in the rain. The "love" sediment, accented with a rhinestone is from Hero Arts.
Here is a closeup of the sparkliness. It's interesting how sometimes the little heart cutouts look recessed like they are IRL, but then sometimes they look 3D like they have been stenciled onto the paper. What is the opposite of "recessed?" Abscessed? Obsessed? Upsessed?
Challenges
- At Less Is More, the brief is "Pink and Grey." I would like to congratulate Chrissie and the Design Team on the occasion of their fourth birthaversary! Of course, thanks to Mandi, too, who was Chrissie's cofounder four years ago! Head's Up: there are a LOT of prizes this week!
- The Card Concept, photo inspiration below. My card is clean and simple.
- Inkspirational: Rose colors.
- Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. "All Things Bright and Beautiful" and featuring Hero Arts.
~~~
I made other Valentines in different colors using this die. For some, I placed patterned paper snippets behind the cutout like below. The sediment is an old wooden stamp by The Rubbernecker Stamp Co. It has E526 written on it in pencil, but I don't know if that's the stamp number or the number assigned to it by whatever store originally sold the stamp.
Between the two cards there are a lot of challenge links for you to click on for the details you need regarding rules, sponsors, and prizes so you can play along!
Oh, and a couple of week sago, I used the die to make anniversary cards in different colors using mats. I got my money's worth out of this die!
LOVE your cards today Darnell... fabulous die!
Lovely picture of your guys!
Fabulous cards! Especially love the one with the washi tape behind. I have this die too, so will have to give this a try. I've never used washi tape, although I've got quite a few reels. (It's part of my NBUS!) You've given me the inspiration to actually use it! xx
Well, I must say that in my heart of hearts - I love these cards and I am super impressed with the cards you made with that cool die!!! What a fun pile of hearts you must have - you should use them as confetti surprises inside your valentines!! He he!! Love seeing your work and I am off to visit some new friends you have introduced!!! Thank you for the way you pull other crafter's in and celebrate them and their talents!! You are really one of a kind - my favorite kind!!! Have a super duper day!!!
I absolutely ADORE those hearts cards. They are FABULOUS...especially the glittery one.....& gelatoes! Weird...I just scrapped a LO about gelatoes! Seriously!!!
What a fab collection of cards Darnell, and all from one die .... love them!! Great pic of your men too ... what a handsome bunch!! xx
Gorgeous - now I need that die even though I'm telling myself not to buy any more stuff!
Great selection of cards Darnell, I do like the hearts in a heart die. :)
Gorgeous cards, and you've really showed us the versatility of the die! (Tip - never attempt to type "versatility" immediately after using spray adhesive!)
Jane
Oh my goodness Darnell, you must have lots of patience to make such fantastic cards. I love them. Hugs Rita xxx
Love, love, love your cards, I so need that die! Xx
Beautiful cards.
Hope you have a good start to the week. Sue
Oooh this is gorgeous! I love the way you captured the sparkle in the second picture, looks beautiful xx
Oh my, your first card is simply stunning, Darnell, but I also love the second one. It really is interesting to see how colours and shading can trick the eye, making you believe certain elements are popped up when they are recessed or vice versa. (Also reminds me of this: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/YoungGirl-OldWomanIllusion.html) As much as I like your antonyms of 'recessed' (esp. 'obsessed'), I'm afraid we'll have to make do with less glamorous words such as raised or popped up.
Have a wonderful week!
Marianne x
A beautiful set of cards Darnell. Love all the shimmer from the washi tape.
Oh, your heart filled cards are so pretty, Darnell! I've looked at and bypassed that die many times. So glad you are getting some much needed rain, but isn't it always feast or famine? Finally, wonderful picture of your sweet men. Love that sign above them, too. I suspect that is your motto! :)
These cards are so pretty Darnell! I am a huge fan of sparkle so I have to admit that the first one is my favorite, but they are all beautiful! Really liked the teal green paper being the second card as well. Thanks for sharing! Greetings from snowy Maine...
Hi Darnell
Love, love, love that die. . . . . . . Need, want, must have!
I am still wondering who you are sending all these Valentines cards to lol!
Have a great week.
Ang x
The nice thing about hearts is that they don't just have to be for Valentine's Day. Any time is a good time for a little extra love. All your heart-filled creations in this post are gorgeous!
You DID get your money's worth...think I might need this die for NBUS collection. The patterned paper looks as good as sparklies behind it. Oh, the possibilities. In other news, congrats on your HM Merry Monday win. Loved your card. Wasn't that rain wonderful. Not that looking a gift horse in the mouth, but we could use more.
Beautiful, each and every one of them! I had such a moment with my birthday sentiment background die... Love it when a die just helps creating loads of cards in no time because the inspiration just comes to you,,,
This is definitely a die to drool over! Love it in each color! Great photo. Looks like they're doing some serious eating!
Wonderful cards Darnell. Love the design and rounded corners on the second and also the anniversary cards. Did you end up with little heart confetti all over your playhouse xx
Fabulous heart-of-hearts cards, Darnell! I love the aqua version, and the anniversary editions. I've been whizzing up and down the screen obsessing about the recessing - good fun :)
Oh wow, I love them all! Such a elegant and gorgeous look to each card just by changing the background .
The boys are all looking good!
Seriously LOVE that heart cut out die Darnell! Both cards are pretty in the colors you used - I think I like your Fusion color best though! and it works so nicely for an anniversary card as well! Thank so much for playing with Fusion!!
Wow! You & Hammie have been craftin' up a storm while I was MIA (had a great trip to Calgary!). Took a stroll through all the posts I've missed. "Let Love Shine" is awesome...as are all the other cards!
I'm 100% positive that the 'Heart of Hearts" die will be flying off the shelf once folks see these sweet creations. My fav is the blue 'graph paper' card - love the sentiment font! Great pics too...cool 3D effect and the scattered hearts on the table!
Ooops...forgot to add sweet pics of the boys (and men) and also "thanks for joining us at CCC" !
The first card looks very 3D, I never guessed the hearts were recessed - it is a fabulous way to use washi tape. The second card does look dimensional and I love the background on that too. You really have had your money's worth from that die - it is a real beauty. Love the Anniversary cards too! Hugs, Annie xx
Stunning cas cards. Beautiful. Thanks for joining us at Just us Girls this week.
I do love a die that can be used for many purposes, not just the one you bought it for. This is a great die and you have done some fabberooney cards using it.
Gorgeous cards with the heart of hearts. I love how you kept the little die cut hearts for the photo. Well here I am commentor number 102, you sure have a busy place. We've had a lot of snow over the past couple weeks with ice rain thrown in and extreme cold temps just to make sure we remember how to handle it all. Enjoy the warmth down there :) Hugs, Shirleyxxx
Wow!! Great cards and fantastic post!!!! I love the colours you used but the second oneeee stole muy heart!! Kisses
You DID get your money's worth, Darnell. That's a lot of wonderful cards from one simple die. It is interesting that in the one photo the hearts look like they are on top of the paper.
Darnell these are so gorgeous! I really love that die and the sparkle you have underneath. Thank you for sharing with us at the Card Concept!
So thats where all our rain has gone!!!! I'm so jealous of your precipitation. Its so dry here we had a HUGE fire over the weekend that burnt over 500 hectares of forest and farmland. Was very scary as we knew a few families that had to evacuated but luckily the fire peoples saved their houses. So if you could pop some rain in a card and send it over here, I would be so very grateful!!! Gorgeous cards by the way, that die is 'to die for' and would love to know what your doing with all the tiny heart leftovers??????
Fabulous cards, Darnell! And those twinks are growing up so fast!!
All great cards...that die (and you using the die...smile) makes great cards. I know this from seeing one of these in real life... smile. As Carol, said in a comment above mine...You are an enabler!!! Now I want to get that die too.
Sending you an email...
