So, let's get right to today's program because I know you have that other thing. As perusal, I had no plans to make a card, but then I was visiting one of your blogs and I saw a really fun sketch and then I was visiting another one of your blogs and I saw a really fun theme and the next thing I know the hamster is revvvving up the wheel and away we go!

Inspired by circles and clocks we made this:
The white mat is embossed with a Cuttlebug e/f and attached to a smokey shadow PTI card base, which you can't hardly see in the smokey shadow setting. You will notice that I have an unembossed panel set inside the embossed panel on which to stamp my sediment. That unembossed panel was created by using a Darice "Easy Frames," which I learned about from my friend Ardyth at the Lake House and am only now getting around to using. Tsk.
The sediment is from Tim Holtz "Journey." The top clock is an unmarked stamp I have. I attached it to a notched circle die from PTI, which I painted with watercolors. I also painted the other two wooden veneer clocks to give them a bit of an aged Pat Ina.

Here is my daisy 4 o'clock flower:
The card base is made from blushing bride SU textured paper. The daisy flower die is a Sissix die. The water-brushed and penciled stem and leaves are from PTI's "Rosie Posie" set. The timeless sediment is from Hero Arts.
I am also entering this card in the TIME OUT Round The Clock challenge and since I used snippets for my daisy, I'm taking my whimsical (some might say fahreekie) card over to Pixie's Snippets Playground.

New Friends Corner
Today I am delighted to introduce you to two more friends:
Julieanne ... aka Pinkjools of Julieanne's Cabin. Jools started blogging in 2012. She began making card art over a decade ago when she couldn't find a special card she needed. Jools and I have a lot in common because she, too, has an outdoor building in her garden just for her hobby, which she calls her "Cabin." You will find fun inspiration when you visit Jools. Among other ideas, her cards are so inspiring for designs using patterned paper!
Sandy of Sandy's Scrapbookin's. Sandy works full-time, is the mother of three, is an avid scrapbooker, and is the administrator of at least two scrapbooking blogs that I have seen, as well as her own personal blog, which I can't seem to access at the moment. Phew. Is it just me or do you need a nap now, too? That is so very impressive to me and I think you will find Sandy's works of art to be impressive, as well!

I always find men so hard to create for so they usually end up with a shop bought funny card instead. That sentiment is just perfect and those clocks are too!! I've never used wood veneers but I am sure wanting them as I have been seeing them used all over. I did not know that dandelions were called clock flowers! Learn something new each time I visit you Auntie!! That's a good thing, but will I retain it is the question. lol I love this daisy clock! I especially like your clock flower card, Darnell! When I think of dandelions as clock flowers, I think about their petals (seeds) floating away on a breeze, like time floats away from us without our realizing how quickly it is disappearing.

ReplyDeleteI love the word challenges too because you never know what someone will come up with (the girls at CASology must think I'm a bit weird with my Cue Word interpretations sometimes...). Loving both of these cards and what a great tip from Ardyth with the embossing. Will have to remember that one.... And a clock flower, why not I say, especially if they look as pretty as this one!! Always over the moon when you visit us at TIME OUT!!!

You know, I even have a stamp called "Dandelion Clock" from Lili of the Valley, and I never knew why it was called that. The cute little girl is blowing on the dandelion! Both of your cards are wonderful! I love how you used the embossing envelope around the sentiment, and that clock flower is so sweet in those great colors!

ReplyDeleteWell, I'll be a monkey's uncle (actually make that aunt)...I had no idea that dandelions were known as clock flowers! Our pal Anita is so dang clever! I would have guessed that if you didn't mow them down by 4:00pm, the little buggers would sow their pesky little seeds everywhere and then there'd be trouble!
