Hello again!
Aren't words so fun to play whit? And aren't Mondays wonderful for starting a week off fresh?!
So, let's get right to today's program because I know you have that other thing. As perusal, I had no plans to make a card, but then I was visiting one of your blogs and I saw a really fun sketch and then I was visiting another one of your blogs and I saw a really fun theme and the next thing I know the hamster is revvvving up the wheel and away we go!
Inspired by circles and clocks we made this:

Inspired by circles and clocks we made this:
The white mat is embossed with a Cuttlebug e/f and attached to a smokey shadow PTI card base, which you can't hardly see in the smokey shadow setting. You will notice that I have an unembossed panel set inside the embossed panel on which to stamp my sediment. That unembossed panel was created by using a Darice "Easy Frames," which I learned about from my friend Ardyth at the Lake House and am only now getting around to using. Tsk.
The sediment is from Tim Holtz "Journey." The top clock is an unmarked stamp I have. I attached it to a notched circle die from PTI, which I painted with watercolors. I also painted the other two wooden veneer clocks to give them a bit of an aged Pat Ina.
The challenge links will direct you to the challenges for details on rules, sponsors, and prizes and so you can see the wonderful inspiration from the design teams!
~~~
I made card number Dos Equis while I had my wooden veneer clocks out on my desk, using a die cut flower that was also laying there. With those ingredients, naturally I made a "clock flower." Isn't there such a thing in Wonderland or somewhere? Actually, I recently learned that dandelions are called clock flowers from my friend Anita, but I'm not sure you can tell that it's just gone past four o'clock on a dandelion. Can you?
Well, pretty much, yes. I'm editing this to add that I've heard more from Anita, who says: "You’re supposed to be able to tell the time (to the hour) from the number of puffs of breath it takes to blow all the seeds off the seed head (and so annoy any keen gardeners in the vicinity)!" So that's why they are nicknamed "clock flowers!" Perhaps, like me, you have learned something new today!
The card base is made from blushing bride SU textured paper. The daisy flower die is a Sissix die. The water-brushed and penciled stem and leaves are from PTI's "Rosie Posie" set. The timeless sediment is from Hero Arts.
I am also entering this card in the TIME OUT Round The Clock challenge and since I used snippets for my daisy, I'm taking my whimsical (some might say fahreekie) card over to Pixie's Snippets Playground.
New Friends Corner
Today I am delighted to introduce you to two more friends:
Julieanne ... aka Pinkjools of Julieanne's Cabin. Jools started blogging in 2012. She began making card art over a decade ago when she couldn't find a special card she needed. Jools and I have a lot in common because she, too, has an outdoor building in her garden just for her hobby, which she calls her "Cabin." You will find fun inspiration when you visit Jools. Among other ideas, her cards are so inspiring for designs using patterned paper!
Sandy of Sandy's Scrapbookin's. Sandy works full-time, is the mother of three, is an avid scrapbooker, and is the administrator of at least two scrapbooking blogs that I have seen, as well as her own personal blog, which I can't seem to access at the moment. Phew. Is it just me or do you need a nap now, too? That is so very impressive to me and I think you will find Sandy's works of art to be impressive, as well!
Thank you for joining, ladies, and welcome to the Playhouse!
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy. LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!
You started the last week in February with fantastic cards
love them
hugs Tamara
Wonderful cards Darnell - love the top one, and the whimsical daisy is beautiful!
Blessings
Maxine
Two great cards Darnell love the clock theme
Anne
Love, love, LOVE these cards Darnell! And your clock flower is genius. x
Fantastic card! Especially love the top one. I love how you created the plain panel for the sentiment. xx
Fabulous start to the week Darnell .... great cards, I love the time theme you've got going on there. xx
Lovely cards to start the week Darnell and that first one would be great for the men in your life. I always find men so hard to create for so they usually end up with a shop bought funny card instead. I have some of those thingymajigs for leaving some card embossing free but they are still in the pile of NBUS.
have a good week my friend.
Hugs
Carol x
Fabulous! You didn't KNOW about clock flowers?? Well, I'll be darned!!!! LOL......actually really, REALLY like the top one. You 'made' me do embossing on a card yesterday. So I get the 'influence' of wandering bloggy land!!!
Loving the cards and the verse on the first one is fab.
Hope you have a good start to the week. Sue
Beautiful cards Darnell!
Hope you have a wonderful week !
Ineke
Gorgeous cards Darnell. I really love your clock design xx
Two absolutely brilliant cards Darnell. I love how you were inspired. Thanks so much for playing with us at Time Out!
Two amazing cards Darnell! Love the first one with the plain panel in the middle for the sentiment - I tried doing that mk aking my own aperture thingies and never really got a decent result. Off to look for those templates ASAP :)
And your clock flower is beeeeautiful - how clever. And I bet you really do know about dandelion clocks?
Hugs
Di xx
Such a great way how you made the second card out of things you already had on your desk; the clockflower looks so great; little bit cute and little bit rough!And the first; love the space you made for the sentiment and the sentiment itself! The clocks are great and I am honered that you linked both cards at TIME OUT challenges! Hugs, Gerrina
Super work on both of them.
Happy Fresh Start Monday!
Hugs, Sarn xxx
You're certainly on a roll with your card making Darnell, and I love both of these. I love the sentiment panel which you have added to the first and the great cogs EF and the cute clock flower on the second is such fun! x
Yea it's monday and darnell is off n running with two fabulous cards!no time like the present, hey girl. ;)
Darnell you clocks card is outstanding!! I love every little detail, beautifully done! And the whimsy of your clock flower is a delight! A fabulous pair today my friend...fabulous!
Lovely cards, Darnell. I especially like the sentiment on the first one. Something we all could do well to remember. :)
Two lovely cards Darnell - lovin' the clocks and fun technique you used on the embossed background - great use of wood on both designs!
Two fabulously beautiful designs. I especially love the steampunk design and words but since I'm partial to flowers I can't chose a favorite. Have a great week, Hugs, Shirleyxx
Great cards, Darnell! I love the clock flower creation. And, the Easy Frames are fabulous, aren't they??
Lovely cards, Darnell! Have a great week! :)
Both of your cards are gorgeous!! I love the texture on the first one!! The design of the second is so beautiful!! You did a fabulous job on both!! Have a great day :)
I love the yummy texture!
Thank You so much for the sweetest comment ever ;)
Hello Darnell, two very beautiful cards, I do like the time theme. Your designs and embellishments are fabulous, hugs Kate x
It would seem that clocks are the theme this week Auntie! I made a clock card too for my challenge today. I love, love your first card. That sentiment is just perfect and those clocks are too!! I've never used wood veneers but I am sure wanting them as I have been seeing them used all over. I did not know that dandelions were called clock flowers! Learn something new each time I visit you Auntie!! That's a good thing, but will I retain it is the question. lol I love this daisy clock! It's so cute and playful!! Hugs, Brenda
Wow, both of these are gorgeous, Darnell! Very eye-catching and creative!
Two wonderful cards for our challenge! I love your clock flower... I'm sure they exist! The design of the first card really pleases my eyes too. Great, great job! Thanks for taking TIME OUT and joining our challenge! xxx
Never heard of a clock flower but it works for me! BOTH are super fantastic!
Lynn
Glad you visited those blogs, because your clock card is stunning! And a wonderful sentiment to go along with it!
Clock flower - funny - never heard of it....
Wow! What a clever idea for your timeless flower card Darnell! I absolutely LOVE it!
Nina-Marie :)
Fantastic offering for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge! Thanks for playing with us! Come back again soon. I loved looking inside your playhouse for ideas, too! ;-)
Something about that white embossed background just makes me happy! Love that clock card and then I see your clock flower! Love that idea! Hope you have a wonderful week! Happy to have some rain here in Cucamonga!
Both fabulous cards Darnell. Really really love the first. Looks so good with the embossed background - just need you to do a tutorial now to show us how you got the unembossed panel xx
Great clock works! and I agree, Flowers are ALWAYS timeless!!
I can tell is a few minutes past 4 lol!! Great cards Darnell!!!
Such beautiful cards Darnell! I love your clocks they look so real I was looking and waiting for the hands on it to move :)
The flower card is just so pretty also I like that sentiment so pretty!
These are fabulous Darnell, the flower is a great idea!! xx
Oh these are so fabulous. I love the time sentiment and fabulous design.
So very impressed that you were able to knock out Dos Equis (yes, I too, can order a drink in spanish). Seriously, lovely ideas...Hammie's is brilliant.
Lovely cards for a dark, damp, blowy Monday Darnell. Love the clean lines of the first and your whimsical clock flower in the second. Carol x
Hi Darnell,
that's two fabulous cards right there!!
I love the white embossing with the yellow clocks - very effective.
Thanks for answering my question about your card for Anita.
I didn't know that I'm a 'no reply' blogger or what that is!!!
Hope you have a fab week.
Eve xx
P.S I have a giveaway on my Stampin Up blog - ends Wednesday.
I especially like your clock flower card, Darnell! When I think of dandelions as clock flowers, I think about their petals (seeds) floating away on a breeze, like time floats away from us without our realizing how quickly it is disappearing.
Love that embossing folder! Cute,cute card!
Fab, love the clocks. The wood veneer is especially lovely. Have a great week Ms. D.
Your visit on other blogs has paid off by creating such a fabulous cards, dear Darnell. :-) Love your timeless "study". The clock flower is my favourite.
Have a nice week, Sonja
Darnell, I absolutely LOVE both your gorgeous timeless cards! xxx
I especially love the first one as it is so very different. Absolutely beautiful!
I am SUPER impressed that you have another Tim stamp Darnell and you have used it beautifully on your gorgeous Time card. As for the dandelion one, of course you can tell time on them, but only the magic ones and yours has a certain magical quality about it..... Hugs, Annie xxx
The clock flower is a fun idea, sweet. Your masculine card is nothing but fabulous. It has a great layout and it feels so ageless, it is suitable for both younger and older men...
Hi Darnell! You've made some awesome clock cards! I love your wood patina'do clocks with all of that character and the fabulous sentiment, so apropos! Your clock flower has a fabby sentiment too, timeless...and I would say priceless :). Don't forget about the flower called 4 o'clock. Oh! Very clever. I guess that's why your flower clock is showing 4 and not the standard 2 o'clock :)
I must check out that Darice Easy Frame. I have never heard/ seen it.
Hugs
Fabulous cards. You have such great ideas.
I love the word challenges too because you never know what someone will come up with (the girls at CASology must think I'm a bit weird with my Cue Word interpretations sometimes...). Loving both of these cards and what a great tip from Ardyth with the embossing. Will have to remember that one.... And a clock flower, why not I say, especially if they look as pretty as this one!! Always over the moon when you visit us at TIME OUT!!!
A clock face for a flower center! You are oto pipflin cervle!!!!!! Great cards, and I lurve the sentiment on the first card too! NJ!
A clock tower and a clock flower ... both are brilliant, Darnell! The sentiment on the first is fabulous ... and so very you ... looks great set among the clock embossing! Haven't used my Easy Frames yet either ... hmmm ... NBUS! I chuckled at the clock flower ... what a fun (and clever!) idea and so very sweet! Always delighted to have you play along with us at Time Out! Hugs, Anita :)
Two stunners, love both the cards and not only are they so brilliantly put together but they do have food for thought.
Time is running short these days and are we putting enough effort into making the most of what is left and have we done enough to make good memories for those we leave behind.
I need a glass of wine.
Kath x
Both great cards! really like the sentiment on the first one!
Nice cards but I was drawn to the clocks with the great embossing folder. Easy Frames sounds interesting.
Great cards. Surprised you didn't know how to tell the time with a dandelion clock?? I thought that was a game all kids play. Love your clock cards. Hugz
Hi Darnell
Superb cards but I love the sentiment on the first.
Sorry aboutthe cake photo. Imagine how you would've felt if the cake looked half decent lol!
Best wishes.
Ang x
Both are such awesome card designs. I love the sentiment on the first one too and love the idea of a four o'clock flower with the dial for the center.
These are so beautiful!! I love the first one with the embossing and the sentiment in the box. The second one is more of a whimsical one, with the wood veneer and the way you repeated the sentiment. Such great design!!
I just love your clock cards. Fab work. I learned a lot today. I did not know about dandelion clocks. Thanks to you and Anita.
Also, I have to give you a huge thank you for your lovely comment on my easel card. You made my day! mwah!
You know, I even have a stamp called "Dandelion Clock" from Lili of the Valley, and I never knew why it was called that. The cute little girl is blowing on the dandelion! Both of your cards are wonderful! I love how you used the embossing envelope around the sentiment, and that clock flower is so sweet in those great colors!
I love playing with time & clocks - you can do so much with them! Both of your cards are wonderful - but since 67 people told you that before me, I'm sure you know (not that more compliments ever hurt) xo
Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle (actually make that aunt)...I had no idea that dandelions were known as clock flowers! Our pal Anita is so dang clever! I would have guessed that if you didn't mow them down by 4:00pm, the little buggers would sow their pesky little seeds everywhere and then there'd be trouble!
Two fabulous cards! Your clock card with the impressed panel is definitely headed to the winner's circle - sheer awesomeness! And the flower clock will be hot on its heals - the textured paper and the sentiment are gorgeous!
Good job Hammy!
So glad to learn about clock flowers aka dandelions!!!
You have some very smart friends!!!!
Love your clock cards!!!
Your clock cards are wonderful! So glad to learn how the dandelion clocks work Will have to try this out if all this snow ever melts...
Greetings Darnell! Sorry I don't get around much to comment, but know that I do think about you and your wittiness! Love your use of clocks and flowers in these cards...keep up the great work! :)
Oh I am loving the clock theme you have going on! So glad you shared one at PPA!
What a fabulous time I had during this visit today!!! Your clock cards - both of them, are utterly delightful and I love those wood veneer clocks - genius and so well done the way you have used them - MY hat is so most definitely off to you!! Have a most wonderful and way cool day!!!
Both of these cards are absolutely beautiful! I didn't send you a message, but the photos of your flowers were absolutely gorgeous, as well! Thank you for sharing!
Sorry not been by for a bit but been poorly but am here again and the first card I see of yours if for TIME OUT! What a very cool sentiment in the first card and such a pretty daisy clock card, so pleased you joined is at TIME OUT x
http://unikostudio.blogspot.co.uk
Two fabulous cards Darnel, such a brilliant sentiment on the first one. The second one brought back memories of my youngest son walking into his Grandfather's Greenhouse with a Dandelion seed head in his hand - he didn't stay long!
Very cool cards. Love the top one with the verse and all the clocks layered down the card. The clock flower is a bit cute
Mary
Beautiful cards! I love the clock flower ... we used to blow them as kids to tell the time ... My DH hates dandelions with a passion but I think they are pretty!
I guess you do learn something new every day..at least I did anyway....so interesting!
Love both your cards, what a fun theme..clocks! You sure came up with some great ideas!
I love both of these. They look like they went together like clockwork! Seriously, the flower clock card is so pretty. I love the verse on the first card about cherish each moment. So true.
Two fabulous cards, Darnell. The first one with that unembossed part for your beautiful sentiment has peaked my interest~may need to try that! And the Dandelion clock looks very retro (I think my grandmother had a similar looking clock on her kitchen wall way back when ;-)
Love the metal cogs, and the sentiment is wonderful. Thanks for having fun with the PALS this week!
Have to stop getting here late. I get nose bleeds from being so high. The jump down makes me dizzy. 82 comments. Impressive. So are your cards. Especially love that first one. Your second card is cute and innovative. Now to find the ladder to climb out of here. LOL. Jim
Two totally terrific cards!
HI POOKIE!!! Two fabulous cards! That sentiment on the first is so darn true! I'm leaving a pile of laundry and dust bunnies behind, and the echo of laughter to ring through the ages. Brilliant use of clocks, and I especially love the unembossed panel on your first card. I remember that...gave mine to my sister. Must remember to get another set... LOVE the clock flower and the story that goes along with it! Sweet card. You're too brilliant for my own good. Windy and cold here today, but I know spring is coming.. Miss you. Bev
Wow Darnell, how very "now" are you with your Tim Holtz and Steampunk themed card. Seriously though I love your time themed cards. Loving that clock face stamp with the bee. Very clever how you created the panel for the lovely verse too. Also love your pretty pink Daisy 4 o'clock flower card, As it says on the card timeless! Hugs Lottie x
2 terrific cards.
I love your daisy one. It reminds me of 'he loves me, loves me not' and yes, we used to play dandelion clocks when we were kids :-) Caroline xxx
Two beautiful cards here Darnell. A great sentiment on the first one, and I like how you did the smooth panel in the embossing for it. I have always enjoyed themes with clocks and time, and I love the whimsy in your clock flower.
Jean x
Gorgeous cards Darnell. I love the sentiment on your first card and fabulous embossing.
Thank you for making me smile with your lovely comment on my card today, it really cheered me up!
Sending hugs, Sue xx
Your cards are really pretty!!! I've fallen in love with the first one!!! The first clock, the embossing...they are wonderful!!!!
Hughs!!!!
OOOOO, love that first one, Darnell. I declare that a winner. I'll have to check out those frames. They look like they come in handy. Glad you made card two. The sentiment on it is perfect.
Both cards are spectacular Darnell, those clocks are fantastic you mastered the techniques. The flower is die cut beautifully and I love the sentiment!
I love these 2 cards especially the 2nd one since it has a flower clock. I think there is always a place to find a flower clock. Actually in Niagara Falls there is one! Very well done and I like the saying in your first card and the colours
Great cards, Ms. Darnell :) I LOVE the quote on the first one! What a good reminder. <3 Thanks SO MUCH for your kind words and for being such a sweet person. Hope you're having a fabulous week. xoxo
Two fantastic cards. Love that you were inspired while visiting blogs. I love it when that happens, especially when I must create something right then and there.
Hi Darnell - funny but I have this E/F in my NBUS collection! Your card is so clean looking - like the clock theme. Loving this card ....Barbara
Love the steampunk card with the clever unembossing, and your dandelion clock card is so pretty!
Did Anita tell you what the French call dandelions? ;)
My dandelion is telling me it's coffee time, as is your daisy card, Darnell!!! Always enjoy your fun posts and your cards!!!
These are really neat, Darnell! Love the clock flower--very clever!
Haha - if you have a daisy o'clock, does that mean you have time to stop and smell the roses?! :) Loving the way your gears turn, as per usual.
I love your daisy clock, so fun and just to clever. Your first card is so striking and just amazingly beautiful. I can almost here the clocks ticking and what a wonderful sentiment too. Hope you had a wonderful weekend.
I need to use some of my Washi Tape!!! These are great!
Applauding Hammy in revving his wheels and inspiring your first clock card. The unembossed panel within the embossed is clever; I'd need a map to create that properly! Truly, lovely card. Dandelions called clock flowers? Who knew - except our brilliant Anita! And you've translated this tidbit of knowledge into a wonderful card! Awesome x 2, dear friend!
Hugs~c
