Hi! I hope things are going well for you today!
I'd like to welcome you to the last challenge for the month of March over at The City Crafter Challenge Blog. This is my last week appearing live on stage as the Guest Star at CCCB. Thank you to Kirsty and the outstanding Design Team for graciously having me as their guest this month. It's been an honor and a privilege!
For this week's challenge, we want to see your dots in all their polka glory! You know you have them. They are on your papers in your hoardboard, they are on your embossing folders, they are on your ribbons, and some of them have even crawled into the drawer where you keep your butterfly and flower embellies! Go get 'em!
Here is what I've made for you as inspiritation:
Now what the heck is going on there? Is that the comingaling of two dies as if they were one? Why, yes, I believe it is, and why not? It's spring!
First off, the polka-dotta paper is some of my all-time favorite SU paper. It's a lovely apple green and it is self-adhesive! From that I cut my Memory Box dies: on the left, the flower in the pot is called, "Fancy Potted Flower" and the die on the right is called, "Glorious Gerber Daisies." Using ginger, I placed my flowers as you see them on a Lil' Inker stitched white card and attached that to a topper of the same SU dotty paper. The sediment is from Stamping Bella, "Matilda on a Swing."

Here is my second card:
For my second card, I used the paper liner that backs the paper that has the adhesive. I don't know how to describe it better. Do you know what I mean? The schtuff you normally throw away after you've peeled it off your die cut adhesive. Well, instead of throwing it away, I glued it to my green stitched paper and made another card from it!
Then I used the polka dot centers of the first card (which had been removed and replaced with the enamel dots) to garnish the flower centers of the second card. It's a shiny and fresh card and I feel too clever by half.

Hi Darnell,
ReplyDeleteoh what super creations.
That green is so refreshing, and I love your stamped images too.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Both these cards are super fantastic. I love polka dots too! And, the spring green colors with the white work so well together. The first one with the bright blue centers in the daisies really makes that outstanding!

ReplyDeleteYou are just too cool and crafty Darnell! Using up stuff that we normally throw away and making it gorgeous too! These cards are amazing! And guess what? The snow is gone, it's in the 70's now and I'm going to go sit in the grass :) heheh!! ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteTwo fantastic cards and a gorgeous shade of green, both super ideas and equally effective.

2 Super cards Darnell but I really LOVE the first - gorgous colour combo, such a brilliant pairing of dies and the enamel dots are the perfect centres xx

ReplyDeleteNew Skittles Released Today!
Wonderful cards, Darnell! Very happy and sweet! Love the green, too!
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards. No waste fanstastic - like the way you used the bits that would normally be binned. The white backing pops against the green. Very clever :)
ReplyDeleteI thought the polka dot card was super fantastic. Then I saw the green and white made from the leftovers! Now that one is supercalifragilisticexpialidosous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful green concoctions Darnell! Both are bursting with Spring I think. And congrats on 800+ followers...I just didn't have enough time to play your latest challenge unfortunately - hopefully next time. (Unless you've gone bankrupt...lol)
ReplyDeleteLove your fabulous take on this wonderful kitchen inspiration photo. Those dies are just so fun and you made them rock.
ReplyDeleteThese two dies look perfect together! The polka dotted paper adds lots of fun and, of course, I love that you upcycled the backing paper!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute cards!!!! <3
ReplyDeleteOh good golly Miss Molly!! A polka dot themed challenge, I hope I have time this busy week to play along. I ADORE your fresh pretty green polka dotty card Darnell!! You've done a fabulous job guesting this month ;)

ReplyDeleteWell aren't you the clever one! I think I actually like the second card best--just brilliant, Darnell! Plan to enter the challenge--polka dots are so fun!
ReplyDeleteThese cards are so adorable...and yes looks like a fresh, lovely day in spring.
ReplyDeleteI liked that paper too. I had to buy two packs of it, and I think I have it all used up.
I love these cards! So inventive and fun-who doesn't like polka dots...I may even want to polka! On second thought no. I love the stitching and just these 2 colours-very spring:) Now I have to think up something evil to do to my hubby for April fool's
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell! these two cards are stunning! I love your creative ideas here~and I am not above stealing them ;-)
ReplyDeleteBoth of these cards as soooper Darnell. Gotta love the spotty one though.
ReplyDeleteHugs
xx
Love the polka dot card and your recycling of the backing paper was truly inspired. It made a fantastic card.
ReplyDeleteDancing robots they're great bright and springy. I call the left over bits "innies"
ReplyDeleteSimilar cards but with totally different looks! I've got a soft spot for, well, spots, but I really like how those white die cuts came out with the green background too.
ReplyDeleteWow, these are both so different and fabulous, love the colour, hugs Carole Z X
ReplyDeletePretty good garnishing Darnelle! I love anything polka dotty!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely pair!. . . . . Of of cards obviously lol!
Got me Bloomin dates wrong for the challenge so will have to wait for next time.
Best wishes.
Ang x
I like both of your cards Darnell! The green background with the white flowers is my fav!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Darnell!!! I love them both and the pretty green!! I sure have loved your GDT time!!! Hugs, Char
ReplyDeleteOh these are both so fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love these cards Darnell!! The green and white color scheme is so pretty. Makes me want spring!! All I see outside is dirty snow and yellow/muddy ground!!
ReplyDeleteHow clever and creative. Happy egg hunting.
ReplyDeleteWhen one of my boys was little, and I can't remember which one, he used to call them 'polka lots.' Maybe that's why I love them so much to this day. And I love your cards here -- not just because of the polka lots either! That green is quite full of Springtime goodness. And the daisies are really sweet. Stitched panels, sequins, and enamel dots...perfect finishing touches. Love these cards! Easter blessings to you and your family too. Big hugs, and miss you. Bev
ReplyDeleteOh WOW..these are FABULOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, both cards are gorgeous, Darnell! Love the dies in the same paper as the background! Thanks for sharing the first one at The Challenge! I so keep wanting to play in your NBUS. I missed it again but will soon!
ReplyDeleteOh. I feel dumb--Dee Yew Em, dum. I've been yapping about die cut and trying to get them to stick and there you are just using adhesive backed paper like a champ. I used to do that with punches so why did that not make the crossover?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, polkie dots, I'm pro polkie dot and like what you did with your double dippin' polka dotting card there and the one with adhesive backed stuff. Pfft. Y'all being brainy 'n stuff.
Beautiful spring cards! Thanks for playing along in The Challenge's anniversary celebration!
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards, Darnell.
ReplyDeleteThose two dies are perfect together, Darnell. I don't know how you handled such skinny pieces, especially the backing which often curls up after being removed. That was a clever idea, btw. Love both card and hope to find time to do a polky dotty one myself today, just in time for the deadline.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! These two cards are amazing! I love both versions. Such a cool idea to do use the negative sticky paper to create another card!
ReplyDeleteSuch a breath of SPRING!! Thanks for joining us at The Challenge on our Anniversary Linky Party Celebration! Sure hope that you join us again for a BRAND NEW exciting challenge tomorrow! -YAY!!!
