Hi Stampers and Scrappers and Scamperers!
Welcome to the fresh clean scent of a Monday of a new week of - hey look! - another new month is coming to the door on Friday this week! Are you ready for May?
Wait. What? Already?
Yup! And the reason I'm giving you a head's up is because this particular new month is going to expect you to throw it a May Day celebration party! With garlands and poles and privacy screens.
So let's get right to it cuz I know you're gonna want to do your semi-annual vacuuming (I can't be the only one) and make that mandarin orange cake for all the May pole revelers!
Here's macard:

I actually made this card a while back. I was reminded I hadn't posted it yet when I saw the current challenge at Less Is More, which is "put a tag on your project."
The card base is SU green galore, to which I removed one-half inch from the right side of the card front only. Not the back. You don't want to mess with cutting on the back if you can help it.
The card base is SU green galore, to which I removed one-half inch from the right side of the card front only. Not the back. You don't want to mess with cutting on the back if you can help it.
Then I covered the now-narrower front with a white embossed layer, sized to fit. The embossing folder is "Arrows Textured Impressions" made by Sizzix for SU. On the left side, I covered the last embossed row of arrows with a border cut from a piece of patterned chevron/arrow paper made by GKW.
The wee NBUS tag is meant to replicut an arrow, pointing the holder to the inside where presumably some cash could be gleefully hidden and found. The tag and sediments are called "Teeny Tag Greetings," made by Creative Time. Get this, there are 27 tiny stamp sediments in with the teeny tiny stitched die! No lie.
As you can see, I made a mat for the teeny tag in the same pp as the border and attached it to the card front with a v.o. lime green square brad. I gave the brad a one-quarter turn to make it a diamond so it lions up with the pointy bits of the e/f. It's all about the details.

I'm also entering the "Anything Goes" challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and the "Clean and Simple" challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. Make sure you play along and please note there is also a Design Team Call going on for the Monday Challenge!

Here is my hummer aflutter photo:
I spend so much time watching them and taking pictures that sometimes I have to lay down.

On Friday, we had a brand-new hummer experience in the Playhouse backyard. We normally are habitated by hummingbirds called Anna's. You've seen many photos of our resident Anna's hummers over the last coupla years. They are quite iridescent with bright green backs.

Friday our feeder and swing were taken over by a Rufous hummingbird!
His coloring is very copper/orange and you can't miss him against the green tree leaves. The Mister tells me not to get attached to him because they are migratory and he is on his way up to British Columbia. I think he may already have moved on. We saw him Friday and Saturday, but not at all yesterday. It was really delightful to have him stop in for some rest and relaxation!
Just for fun, here you can see the front and back comparisons between the Anna's on the left and the Rufous on the right.
It's an ever-changing landscape around backyards everywhere. Especially in the springtime. I hope you are being entertained by what's happening in yours! I mean, besides in the hot tub.

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy. LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!

Darnell, I like your card so much! This style is gorgeous! The embossed background and the colorful stripe look amazing together!
Fab card.
What a lovely Hummingbird. Sadly we don't get them here.
Hope you have a good start to the week. Sue
Brilliant design Darnell - those bold chevrons are the perfect accompaniment to the embossing folder!
Love the card! I've yet to see a hummingbird - don't live here! You do make me smile with your comments - thanks. Have a great week - surely it can't be May nearly Anne x

Not much wildlife in our backgarden today unless you count 2 builders! They are laying our long awaited patio! I feel the need for retail therapy, rattan furniture!
Fab card and love your hummingbirds, all I can see in our field are crows, but there are a few swallows swooping. Hope they have their thermals on!
Great post today loved the photos they are stunning such wonderful birds. Your card id just fab I'm rubbish at CAS styles so always admire others Enjoy your week love and hugs Carole x
Love thiscard, epecially the little tag at the bottom. Really works well.
I love seeing photos and having you write about Humming birds as we dont have them in Australia. They are the most eautiful little critters.
That is one terrific card but I have to say those bird photos stole my heart!! What beautiful, colourful birds you have over there! Have a beautiful day and thanks so much for sharing your photos with us at Our Beautiful World!!
Sassy, fun and so clever Darnell.
Looks like another gorgeous die for my wishlist. Looks FABULOUS. Love all the bright cheery colours and thanks as always for playing along at Less is More. Sarah
This card is super duper fabulous & I love it! I love how you do cas! And the pops of colour....perfect touch:) Loving your bird watching.....we're moving into winter here. So floods, storms, the usual!!!
Not ready for May. Ready for May temperatures. Everything crossed. Love the hummers. Rufus is very beautiful. Sweet card. Love the embossing. Hugz
Fab ARROW-MATIC card Darnell. LOVE the little tag and the layout of the card in general.
I love watching garden birds . . . although I get nothing as exotic as your hummers. Did see a rare sighting of 2 x Goldfinches the other day though.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Love your card Darnell! What a wonderful match that vibrant PP is to the embossing folder! A great CAS design. Your pictures of the Humming bird is a joy. We, unfortunately don't get many (living in the city) . . . such a shame. Have a lovely week. Hazel xx
I ADORE this card, and how you've used the chevron papers to accompany the embossed panel.
And Green Galore? Wow, I thought I was the only person with that stuff still in my stash.
Also, jealous of your hummingbirds. I have standard, yet NOT boring, finches and cardinals. So fun to watch them at the bird feeder! And Bobra get built-in Cat TV, for the WIN!
Stopped in for a quick minute. Lots to do today, but wanted to touch base. LOVE that card, and am itching to get my craft on after seeing this beauty! It's gorgeous. And love hearing about your hummers. Keep those photos coming! Will try to call soon. xoxo Miss you!!! Bev
Fabulous card Darnell...love the nice clean lines with a pop of colour. Great cas card. I try do do cas but it never hapens :) Have a fabulous week!
Me again....I forgot to say, the birds in your background are so pretty.! We don't have hummingbirds here.
Great card, Darnell! I like the colors and the embossing as well as that little tag. The green sure is a pretty green! Thanks for the mini lesson on the hummers. I don't know a lot about them, so was fascinated! Love that photo you took. What a neat perspective!! Have a great week.
Loving your arrow card, Darnell, but that new hummer is spectacular! As for the jealous of the new puppy comment on my blog, LOL at you. I think I have bought a speedy little alligator into my home!
Love your cas card Darnell and the teeny tag is so cute. I'm so pleased you had such a gorgeous visitor to your yard- it's always great to have welcome visitors that you don't have to prepare for or clean up after! This one is a real beauty and all the more special because he was only there for a short time. We have had a whole bunch of goldcrests in our garden for the first time and also some mallard ducks on the pond.
Have a great week.
Hugs

Absolutely gorgeous card!! I love the embossing and the colors!! I saw the first hummingbird of the year yesterday and now they are fighting outside my window over the feeder!! We have the ruby-throated variety and they are so beautiful and fun to watch!! Have a great day :)

Love your CAS design! So fresh! Your posts are always so FUN and entertaining! I too am so happy for spring!
Hey Darnell :)
Love that you matched the embossing with the paper-you clever thing!
Lovely fun card.
I love the Hummingbird, they are so delicate-wish we had those here in the UK.
Thank you so much for the shout out in your previous post-it is lovely to be back crafting and Blogging again, and thanks to you some of my old crafty blog friends stopped by to say Hi-which made me very happy.
Have a great week,
hugs,Nessa xxxxxx
Another wonderfully designed card Darnell and you are so good at the detail. I love the embossing and the chevron paper and the arrow shaped tag with the sentiment works beautifully with the cut down right hand side to show the pretty green base card. I love the hummers too, they are so tiny but just so cute and pretty. x
Gorgeous card Darnell and those humming birds are beautiful its such a shame we done get them here
Anne
Your card is delightful, Darnell, as always! Love the simplicity, and the bright colors make me so happy (it's been gloomy, rainy, and cold here). The hummingbirds are beautiful! Thanks for sharing with us - have a great week!
LOVE your card Darnell. The arrow EF is very cool, but the addition of the colorful arrows along one side is fantastic. And the teeny tiny tag is a great touch as well. All around fun card! Great humming bird pictures too! We get both of them up here in the Pacific Northwest as well. Maybe your Rufus will take a rest stop in my backyard on his way to British Columbia.
OOOOOOOOOOOO....AAAAAAAAAA... I just love this card Darnell. The colors are bright, vivid, and very celebratory. Your arrow tag is genius with the lime backdrop once it is closed.. Oh I might just have to CASE this.. Stop on over and say hello and as always I thank you so much sharing this amazing card.
Oh I love this card Darnell, and I love the humming bird shots too, so glad to see you playing along with Our Beautiful World this week!
Beautiful colourful design, and wow love the photos of the Hummingbirds... amazing ! I hope you are doing well, Hugs, Shirleyxx
Awesome card, Darnell! I love that embossing! The pop of color is perfect!
Love the strip of vibrancy on your fabulous card Darnell, a brilliant contract to the the texture. I spend hours watching the birds in our garden and they are such busy little things this time of year. We have had a dear little great tit pecking furiously at a disgarded tennis ball and carrying away a beak full of bright green fluff to pad out the nest. Hope the chicks hatch wearing shades!! xx
I love how you do cas! excellent combination of еmbossing and colors. Which solution you pour into a hummingbird feeder?
Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh...crazy about that card. Fab elements any like the pared down front panel a lot. Not surprisingly since we live so close to you, we have two families of Anna's who have bouncing around our feeders for years. Never seen a Rufous before but I'm lovin' their coloring. When do you find the time for cards with all that flitting going on in your yard? Oh, yes, BTW, what, pray tell, is a Mandarin Orange cake and do you actually make it? Sounds yummy. You're so multi-talented.
Hi Darnell,
Firstly, I must say thank you to you for your lovely warm welcome to your world...very kind and thoughtful of you. your card is gorgeous, I love the vibrant colours and your clever design with that gorgeous chevron style...
Sue...xxx
Hello Darnell!
I just love your sense of humour! :)
And your card so pretty, I love the chevrons and the colours and the parts without any also ! :) Have a great day!
Sure do love that card. Such a happy clean card. And the hummers are beautiful. I put food out for them last week but so far nothing that I have seen yet. Patiently (not!) waiting
Gorgeous card, Darnell and stunning hummers!
Hugs,
Em xxx
I WISH SU! would bring back green galore as it was my favorite green in their entire collection! I love how you paired it with the arrows ef and added color to one side! Awesome card, and some great hummer pics too!
Welcome Darnell,
I love to read all your posts. It is always a reason to smile. Card is beautiful, I really like this wonderful and so full of life color combination. But the story of the Rufous hummingbird is fascinating. I envy that you have the opportunity to watch these birds in nature. There are mysterious and unreal for me and downright fabulous. We in Poland have loved sparrows:-)
Regards,
Bozena
Awesome card and I love the bright cheery colors used on it.
Gorgeous birthday card hun. The lovely zingy colours are really appealing to me right now. I think I'm having a bright, bold, neon and, I really hope, beautiful phase lol!
Thank you for sharing your new photographs. I am going to borrow them, add them to one of my Pinterest boards and print them off as now I've an itch to stamp, colour and create orangey copper beautiful hummers, thankfully I have a lovely stamp set that they're perfect for! Karen xx
Love that combination of chevron e/f and paper, Darnell! And your hummingbird visitors are beautiful. I caught a glimpse of the kingfisher on the river yesterday, that's as good as we get.
Gorgeous card and love the EF and the papers and everything to be precise.
Gorgeous photos of the birds, you are very lucky.
Kath x
Gorgeous card, Darnell! Love all those chevrons - and what a fabulous embossing folder. Thanks for sharing your photos of the birds - what beautiful, colourful birds you get in your part of the world. xx
I love watching our garden birds but we don't have anything quite so exotic, unless you can call a heron exotic! Your card is beautiful with all those wonderful chevrons - absolutely beautiful. Hugs, Annie xx
Fabulous CAS card Darnell, I love the tiny tag. Lovely photo of the humming birds, nothing that exotic in our garden but I do enjoy watching birds that do come.
Jean x
Wonderful card, dear Darnell. Love the colours and the idea of cutting the part of the front. Just great! :-)
Thank you for the sweet fotos of "your" bird.
Have a great week, Sonja
Semi annual? You mean we have to vacuum more than once a year. Oh dear. I didn't get the memo. No card for me today! I love this card. It is graphic and colorful and fun. My new favorite color is that apple green. I've seen it in everything lately and can't wait to use it. (When I get it). Rufous is beautiful, thanks so much for sharing him.
Awesome card! Love that embossing folder and the coloured strip looks so cool! Fab piccies of the hummers too! xxx
I love the chevron design! And the sentiment really ties in all the colors together! And wow, my mom would be so jealous to see all the hummingbirds you have! Beautiful pictures!
I love this card!! I never would have realized that colored strip of chevrons was a piece of paper. I thought you colored it in yourself. LOVE the white space too and that adorable added tag. Great photos of the hummingbirds too!!
I think someone pinched April Darnell..I've simply run out of month!! Absolutely love your card, gorgeous cheery colours and fab design. Carol x
I love this bright and happy card! It's like a big smile! And thanks for sharing your visitor with us. Isn't he a beauty and even more special as he's just passing through!
1) <3 the card! So bright and happy.
2) May! Bring it on... it has to be warmer than April, right?
3) Your hummingbird photos are outstanding! We get the standard ruby-throated in the summer. They love my nasturtiums!
Like the card. Like the embossing folder too. But oh those adorable birds. Don't you love the colours?
I can see geckos, hammers and once a road runner fro my craft room window.
Darnell, I absolutely love your birdie photos! Wow! I adore nature photography... thank you for including those! And your card is delightful! The embossing is gorgeous and I love the pops of bright color! Lovely creation from your sparkling heart, as always. :o) Have a blessed night, dear friend!
Hugs and blessings,
Karen
Amazing pictures, so glad you shared!
Great design on this card, Darnell! Lovely CAS style :-)
WOW, I can't believe you have those Hummingbirds posing so beautifully for you ;-)
Adorable card! I love the tag and how you layered it! Great texture, too! The hummingbird photo is fabulous! TFS!
You card is lovely! I like the embossing. Your hummingbirds must such a joy to see. I so miss them. They did come into our yard a few years back and then never returned.
What a striking card Darnell - Love it. Thoser hummers look fabulous - we have bell birds of similar size, but dull plumage - but the most beautiful bell like call :-)
Blessings
Maxine
Off to visit my fellow Kiwi, Chrissy :-)
That brad being AL La pointy makes all the difference. Hugs Mrs A.
Arrowmatic!? Love it, almost as much as the card. I have several sets of tiny tags and sentiments from a now defunct company - some of the first stamps I even bought. I REALLY love the hummer pictures. I'm hoping to put up feeders this year but I don't think my old "point and shoot" will get pictures as beautiful as yours.
I am so loving your card Auntie! I love that embossing folder but have never bought it. I need to resolve that little error. lol I also love how you used the My Creative Time die and stamp set. I love, love My Creative Time products as you know! lol Your brad is positioned just perfectly and you are right it is all in the details. lol I love, love the pictures of your hummer!! I've never seen an coppery/orange one before, he is just so beautiful. They are all so beautiful!! Hugs Brenda
Great card Darnell, I like the festive pattern!! Isn't God a wonder, just look at those pretty little hummingbirds!! How fun that you got to see a newcomer. He looks so cute perched on that little swing!
Hey pal...I'm playing 'catch up' yet again! I love your card and I ADORE the wee mat that you created for the arrow! NICE pop of vibrant green - totally made me smile!
Thanks for the hummer pics! I had no idea that there was a hummer with these colors! Nor did I know that he visits Canada!
...only Rufous I know is the Rufus the cartoon dog! Dag-Nab-It - sure is cool to learn new stuff :)
Wonderful bright colours. Very clever to match the brad to the pattern.
Thanks for sharing pics of your visitor.
Love your bright fun card, Darnell! Great pictures of your visitor!
Hi Dippy
Your card is fresh, bright and absolutely gorgeous. I am so jealous of your hummers - I think they are the most amazing birds but don't see any down here in Somerset!
Hugs.

Wow, what amazing hummingbird photos! How exciting that you got to experience one migrating too! I am smiling picturing you laying on the ground with your camera. I do that too, so I wouldn't at all feel conspicuous if you were with me! My oldest is on a new baseball team this year so I've had to tone things down until I get comfortable with all the moms. No running onto the field after a win for at least another couple weeks : )
Lovely card, especially since you've repeated the shapes in the patterned paper, the embossing folder, AND the tag. You're a thinker, Darnell, you're a thinker!
xoxo,
Kelly
A perfect card for our challenge, Darnell, and a very clever design! Loved seeing the hummers, too! Thanks for joining us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!
Wonderful card Darnell! Love the texture and fun spots of rainbow color!! Great idea for the tag challenge too! :)
Darnell, love that card. The textures and colors are both bold and I love bold. Fabulous sentiment placement too. Loving those hummingbird photos as well, I am in awe that you captured them sitting still. Happy Tuesday.
I was going to have to decline coming to the MAY DAY celebration... but then you mentioned privacy screens, so all is well. Thanks for sharing the photos of the hummingbirds. They have pretty much moved on from here, with a few desert ones sticking around, but it sure was nice to see the passersby as they passed by. Oh, and you made a card too, didn't you? Happy bright pointy colors! It is mucho niceo.
Love this set! I just might mosey on over to see what everyone else did with it. I'll bet they didn't make three fabulous cards like you did! Yours take the cake! But not my cake cuz I'll punch you.
Gorgeous card ... I love the embossing folder and all the bright colours.
Beautiful bird too ... you're so lucky! xx
Bold, fun, a great sense of style and direction... and that's just the hummingbird! Seriously I love the card and am in awe of that amazing bird. Jenny x
Gorgous card Darnell. Love the bright coloured arrows with the white xx
My hummingbirds fight and don't share , so I have one that site patiently on my tree limb until the other one is done lol!! I love your card, so bright and a great design!!!
Wonderful card, Darnell, and love your hummingbirds. Interesting pet, I think, but very sweet.
I love the combo of that pp with that embossing folder and the pops of color against the white. Such a bright, cheerful card. And your hummingbird pictures are amazing.
So many beautiful and wonderful bird photos and I can just picture you laying on the ground snapping away at these wonderful little creatures.
Now on to your fabulous card....I LOVE IT!!!!
Love your photos Darnell and your card is beautiful!

Anne
Less is More
great card and the bird shots are wonderful! I would also spend a lot of time to watch these beautiful birds. Thanks for joining us this week at "OBW"
It certainly is all in the details, loving this Darnell. The bright patterned paper is the perfect choice for your embossed panel and the little tag ties it all together. Lovely photos of the hummingbirds too, I've never seen one in real life!
Thanks for sharing with us.

Less is More GD
Less is More, Darnell!! Simply lovely CAS card here :) Sorry I haven't been by as regularly as I should! But, I have been admiring from afar and seeing all of your fabulous creations fly by! Speaking of flying by--Our first (male)Rufous arrived on the 19th (we have some that stay here in Idaho)and then we received our first (male) Calliope shortly after. The females are showing up now and we are still expecting the Black Chinned hummers to arrive any day :) I'm trying to spend a little time outside each day to take pictures, too :)
Thanks for your wildlife updates :)
XOXO-Shari
Absolutely gorgeous Darnell!
I LOVE THIS CARD!!!!!!
Ok so instead of enabling me to buy craft products this time you made me want to buy a perch for for my hummingbirds .
That little copper color birds is gorgeous!
There's quite a difference between those birds isn't there?! How wonderful to have a new visitor for a few days. We don't have Hummingbirds here but the large garden I look after has Fantails and they are the cutest wee things. They follow me around the garden and get so close, they will land on a branch right near my face! Loving your card and all its arrows. Have never cut the side of the front of my card before (does that make sense??). Fab bright colours against all the white. Enjoy your weekend!!
They are so sweet :)
We don't have this kind of animals here :(
I saw them during my US trip and loved them!
Don't you just know I'm going to LOVE this, Darnell ... delicious rainbow colours, glorious white space with yummy texture ... and all those perfect little design details ... complete genius, mon amie! Awesome photo's ... what a treat to have that sweet and stunning little visitor! You vacuum TWICE a year ... as often as that?? Hugs & Bisous Bisous, Anita :)
Oh how exciting to have a Rufous stop by! What a beautiful hummer! Just before we left for vacation "my" bright yellow goldfinches were at the feeder--just love them! Such a fun card, Darnell!
