Hi there! It's so lovely to see you all here today!
I've signed up for another online class, this one call "Maskerade." (Which always makes me think that my friend Ardyth is the teacher!) I recommend these classes and I always learn a lot. It's not too late to check it out and sign up.
For the first class, where we learned the basic idea of masking, I created two cards. First:
For this card, I used one of the dies from PTI's "Frilly Flowers" to create the center flower mask around which I stamped Miss Elaine Eous small flower stamps. After wards, I splattered some of my daffodil and cabana inks (watered down refill inks). The sediment is from Avery Elle, "All Squared Up." For added interest, I added score lines and I topped it off with an awesome hummingbird brad that I've been sleeping with hoarding.
Challenges
- ColourQ: Colors.
- Freshly Made Sketches: Sketch #188
- Less is More: Use Some Metal.
- Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything goes.
~~~
Second:
I made a mask of two different size NBUS bunny stamps from October Afternoon called "Woodland Park" and inked them in the ColourQ colors since the pads were all out on my desk. I embossed the Paper Smooches hill with a Cuttlebug "branches" e/f. The sediment panel is cut from a PTI angled label die and the NBUS sediment is from Technique Tuesday.
I wasn't sure what the heck sediment would work with this, um, interesting design so I just looked through a few of my nonbirthday/getwell/thankyou stamps until Hammy squealed and did a somersault right across the open strawberry slush ink pad. This is one of those times when I wish he wasn't invisible so you, too, could see how well that color suits him!
Anywaze, I think he's right about the sediment since the colorful bunnies are all looking at each other and each side thinks they are brighter than the other side. The competitive nature of bunnies is only just now being studied and recognized by the Faunalogical Society.
Challenges
- Addicted to CAS
- Addicted to Stamps and More: Anything goes and DT call.
- Clean and Simple Stamping: Sketch FTL13
- ColourQ: Colors.
So. Over the weekend, we had the heating element on the dryer crap out which, of course, I didn't know about until I went to fold the first load with another load in the queue. There I was with two loads of wets to figure out how to dry. Weren't we just talking about outdoor clothes lines the other day and how I don't have one?
And then the driver's side window in my car decided to drop down inside the door. The Mister put some plastic up to keep out the elements and critters until our appointment day. I was away at lunch at the time and he couldn't find what he was looking for, so this was his "creative" solution!
We are still waiting for the third shoe to drop since these things do tend to happen in threes!
~~~
I'm off to my second day of class. See you tomorrow!
Enjoy your day!
No, seriously, enjoy!

Fab masking Darnell, I especially like the sweet bunnies and the sentiment works perfectly. Thanks for joining ATSM
ReplyDeleteWoohoo, I am near the top of the comments! Love both cards - especially the bunny one all lined up on that fantastic curve - it is so clever how you embossed in a curve like that... The sentiment is perfect too.
ReplyDeleteMister's idea was clever too... very creative! Hugs, Annie xx
You got the hang of the masking pretty quick, and I love that colorful row of bunny butts! Good thinking on the part of the Mister - the only thing that may have been stronger is Press'n Seal - that stuff is indestructible!!! Have fun fixing your fallen window. My car developed a loud ticking noise recently (sort of like a BOMB ready to go off) and it's most likely the flasher for the turn signals - requiring the removal of the dashboard to replace it. Ka-ching, ka-ching! I'll take your card advice and "look on the bright side today."
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards are fabulous, Darnell! But your bunny one is absolutely adorable! I love it! I know what you mean about things coming in threes. First our washing machine broke. Then our chest freezer quit. The third thing was our annoying silly dog decided to eat something that made her sick and I spent days cleaning up her accidents and getting her back on track. It was not a good couple of weeks. And we can't afford to get both a washer and a freezer so we have to do without the washer for now. I go into town to do laundry. It's gets me out of the house I suppose. LOL. I will cross my fingers that your third thing never happens. :-). Hugs!
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards. Great masking and I love the sentiment on the bunny card.
ReplyDeleteMy dryer stopped working too last month, just after we had to replace the washing machine. To unplug the dryer, we have to disconnect the fitted washing machine, as some bright spark put the double socket behind the washing machine when the kitchen was replaced! So glad the weather is good for hanging the washing outside. xx
Both cards are fab. The bunnies would make a good Easter card.
ReplyDeleteHope you can get your car window sorted and it's not expensive.
Hope you have a nice evening. Sue
Love the row of multicolored bunnies, and it's such a great take on the sketch. Love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd your first card represents something new to me, masking by stenciling and stamping, love the concept and the outcome.
Gosh those things are sent to try us, hope if there is a number three, it won't be too serious.
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely cards Darnell, love the masking design and the fab bright colours, hugs Kate x
I'm certain sometimes things only happen in two's..or maybe 2 not so good things, followed by 1 AWESOME thing, not sure what the laws of the universe are on these things.
ReplyDeleteMasking! I'm always so impressed with masking techniques and yet I never try it..I should! You've achieved great results here..and let me just say, I'm LOVING those bunnies! Beautiful work!
I just LOVE your pretty hummingbird card! Those colors are just really eye grabbing!
ReplyDeleteCool cards - especially those rainbow bunnies! As for the clothesline - you gotta have one - I have not used my dryer in ages not even sure if it still works....sun dried laundry just smells so good :)
ReplyDeleteYou hubby seems to be as creative as you are :))))
Oh yes, I also thought that Ardyth is in that course - she should be - after all they are using her name.....
Darnell, both of your cards are amazing!! Love the bright cheery colors and you are doing great with the masking thing! I thought the same thing about Ardyth when I saw the name :) Sorry about the dryer and the car window. I hope the third thing will go ahead and happen, so you don't have to keep waiting and thinking about it! heheh! Have a great week my friend! ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteHa, I cannot keep thinking of Ardyth either whenever I see the title of this OCC class. Love your take on Debby's technique/inspiration piece, and your bunnies are adorable. Well, I'm off to see if I can turn Shari's idea into a card. So much inspiration and so little time to play...
ReplyDeleteMarianne x
These are so cute! Love the bunnies!
ReplyDeleteBummer about those mishaps - but I really hope things will come out all right!! Your cards are fun and clever, to boot!! Love your explanations of how you made them - you are such a hoot!! Love the bunny card and I think it gives such a good message!! Your first card I really like the squared up scoring lines!! Kudos to you - you are acing your class!!!
ReplyDeleteawesome cards!! good luck with you r car window :/ thank you for playing along with us at simon says stamp wednesday challenge!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are CUUUTE, Darnell! Sorry to hear about your dryer and car window...hopefully all is up and running good! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your two cards - I'm having fun with this class - looks like you are too! Oh I hope the last shoe isn't too horrible!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun colourful cards, thanks for sharing the masking tips, hope your luck changes for the better xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, as always, Darnell. So sorry you're having such a crappy time and I pray things improve for you soon.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Love your masking cards Darnell both so colourful .....fingers crossed there isn't a 3 rd thing to go wrong
ReplyDeleteAnne
Love your homework from the first day! So impressed that you were able to use your treasured brad (something I have trouble with) and it's perfected for those beautiful masked flowers! And the bunny card is fun and colorful!
ReplyDeleteHope nothing else happens - in any case don't wash any big glass vases!!! ;)
Two pretty and fabulous cards. Masking is such a useful technique and you have used it to great effect on these lovely cards. I love the rainbow bunnies and the super sentiment.
ReplyDeleteJean x
Wonderful masking Darnell, two bright and beautiful creations. Best break a match to preempt no 3! Carol x
ReplyDeleteSuch fun masking, Darnell! LOVE your use of these bold colors, too! HUGS! :) Mynn xx
ReplyDeleteLove your masking, can't wait to see tomorrows! Like the fashion accessory on the car, once saw workmates wrap a camper van in cling film as a stag joke,it's very difficult to undo!
ReplyDeleteWell all I can say is that I hope that my blog, MASKerade gets some 'accidental' traffic and new followers from this class that's going on! lol! Every time I see the class logo, I get confused! (and I confess to being a tiny bit pumped that so many people agree!)
ReplyDeleteLove your bunnies - their colours and white tails make me smile! The double-masking on the other card is really neat - I'll have to give it a try!
Good luck getting all your stuff fixed - it always seems to happen at once!
Two gorgeous bright and beautiful cards, love the bunnies and the EF used on this card.
ReplyDeleteLook on the bright side, two's company, 3's a crowd. so maybe you may not get a 3rd disaster.
Kath x
Great masking! You are a hardworking student. :-)) I love your bunnies and the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteYour Mister is a very creative person. A great idea to protect your damaged car.
Hugs, Sonja
Love your adorable bunnies, Darnell! Great idea to emboss the cut bottom piece and give the little guys a hill to look out from.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking the Mask-erade class too -- love these OCC classes. See you there!
So glad to see you in class! Isn't it fun? We always learn so much! Your cards are awesome. Love the brad on the first one and the bunnies on the second. Great job, my friend! P.S. Thank you for the lovely complement on my Birthday Flip-It Card. That was so nice of you! Made my day. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, you appear to be learning your masking lessons very well. (Look at that, a sentence that begins and ends in the same word, hmmm.) Anyway, I digress, love that you put that sentiment smack dab in the flower. What a great idea. And what can I say about those rainbow bunnies. They remind me of Laura Bassen's penchant for rainbows. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteFabulous masking ! Love the colorful bunnies :) Thank you for sharing with ATCAS
ReplyDeleteAlways fun cards! Since most men use duct tape to fix anything/everything, a roll of saran wrap isn't as "tacky" I guess! Could always be worse! I really enjoy your posts. :)
ReplyDeleteTwo fun masking cards today and both so full of color! Love those bunnies. I am glad you are enjoying the class. One day I will take one. Bummer about the window and the dryer... not a bad idea to keep the animals out.
ReplyDeleteLove both cards but the bunny one is just adorable!!! I'm in the class and loving it, now I'm off to do today's work...😃
ReplyDeleteSuch fab cards Darnell love the masking! Must be the time for a new dryer mine went too LOL lots of huggles Sue xx
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are so gorgeous!! I love the designs and colors of both!! Ugh with the dryer and the car door!! I hope there is no third issue!! Have a great day :)

A Mermaid's Crafts
Those bunnies are way too cute. Love the hummingbird on the first card too. Well my email has decided to go walk abous now so I haven't g a clue hat is going on mow. Cous be talking to myself now . Not correcting by mistakes that PT? Makes either. Totally fed up . Going back to quill and paper and an abacus. Hugs Mr ?a.
ReplyDeleteOkay well your cards are all gorgeous--no surprise! Awesome masking! I really hope the third shoe does not drop. So sorry about shoe 1 and shoe 2! It is raining shoes in my world these days!! ~hugs
ReplyDeleteI love both of the cards you made but especially the bunny one caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope #3 is you telling us that you hit the lottery and got a maid to do all the laundry for the rest of your life ~ Wouldn't that be fabulous! I know, I know, that's not how it works :) I love how the Mr wrapped your window/door...too funny!!!
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards, Darnell! Such pretty flowers and I love the hummingbird on the first one, and your 'rainbow' of bunnies are so cute! I'm so glad you played along with us this week at ATSM...we always love to see your beautiful cards in the gallery!
Great cards Darnell. I particularly like the first one. Great masking...
ReplyDeleteI'm not taking this class so I love seeing what you've done. Your cards are adorable! Especially the bunnies! Sorry for the trouble with your dryer and your car and I hope you can get them both fixed soon.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are fabulous...those bunnies are so sweet and just adorable. Remind me some time that I would love to borrow that one if you don't mind. Your car photo is priceless...just love how you and Mister preserve your car, very clear and I am sure you two are the talk of the neighborhood! See you soon!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the masking! I love those bunnies and the wash of color. Oh gosh, I hope there isn't a third one. They do seem to come in 3's. I think it's to see if we can keep our sanity!
ReplyDeleteI give you an A+ on your masking achievements Darnell!! Love those cute bunnies all lined up. I'm so happy you could join us at ColourQ! Too bad about the recent events. Hope that other shoe is tied on tight ;)
ReplyDeleteI almost signed up for this class Auntie, but I didn't have any masking stuff so I didn't. lol It looks like a fun class and I'm adoring your cards! The first one is beautiful, I love those flowers and ink splats, the embossed lines look fabulous but it is that hummingbird brad that I love the most! Your second card just cracks me up, I think it is just so stinking cute! Love those bunnies in both sizes and love that they are competing with each other. lol The embossed hill they sit on is awesome and that sentiment? Well that is just perfect!! Oh how I hate dryer problems, but I do have a clothesline and love hanging clothes out. To bad you don't have one Auntie! CA would be a great climate to hang clothes out in. lol Oh no! Those dang electric windows are bad! Ask me how I know??? We have had the same thing happen. I can't tell you how many doors Dwayne has had to tear apart to fix. His truck window did what your did, we have had windows where the motor stopped working, so he had to put in a new window motor. I think the fancier vehicles get, the more I'm liking the hand crank windows! lol I love hubby's temporary solution though and I hope it works to keep the critters out until you can get it fix!! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteWhen the ad for the online class came to my inbox I thought it was from Ardyth, too. I signed up at the last minute and had a little trouble with my first card, only because my masking paper didn't want to stick. I didn't think about using a flower shape but it looks great that way. And I love the bunnies in all their colored glory. Hammy did good with the sentiment. It's perfect! Sorry about the dryer and car. It's frustrating I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteRainbow bunny butts! What could be better, really? And I love the metal birdie in the first card. What an extra special touch! As to the bad things come in threes business, let's just stop the buck at two, why don't we? Your sheer positivity can do that!
ReplyDeleteMust be a great class based on what I see here! 2 wonderful cards, Darnell, but being a bunny person that second one just grabbed my heart!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Darnell, love your cards - Especially the Bunny one :) Good to see you in class, I am doing it after work into the late hours, its fun! Cx
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards. The bunnies are great.
ReplyDeleteHope there isn't a third! How frustrating.
Thank you for sharing these fabulous cards Darnell - sorry to hear about your drier - I have an outside line, but it's winter starting here and it's not always a lot of use :-).
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
Great cards and I am pleased you are enjoying your classes :-D Fabulous way to do that window - he's a genius :-)
ReplyDeleteWell I hope you don't get the 3rd thing, but you're right in what you say about it coming in three's !!! :-(

ReplyDeleteFunny Hammy! I must say, that line up of bunnies is fabulous! Love their bright happy bods:):) and hopefully #3 has skulked off to some corner & not poked his nose out!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards Darnell, that rabbit one is just perfect. I love the ideas you and Hammie share. Then I saw the car door and I cant stop laughing. Gladwrap ohh my goodness, your husband is a card himself.
ReplyDeleteWell I hope things improve on the domestic front!
ReplyDeleteYour masked cards look so wonderful Darnell. Happy classes!
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Your masking is fabulous!! Love your cards ... you always think outside of the box ... Had to laugh at the Misters effort ... I dread to think what my mister would have used!
ReplyDeleteYour masking is fabulous!! Love your cards ... you always think outside of the box ... Had to laugh at the Misters effort ... I dread to think what my mister would have used!
ReplyDeleteFantastic masking Darnell! The comments on your blog made me go-WHOA! Well, loved both of your cards..your creations amaze me! :)
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Suchi xx
I love your card! Fun and creative. Inspiring me to create something of my own. Lately been working on layouts. Couple years behind on layouts because I have limited time so I have done mostly cards. Love your work and posts.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, Darnell. Sounds (and looks) like you are going to have a fabulous time in the class. I love your rainbow bunny butts. :) I'm very sorry to hear of the issues you have been having with your dryer and your car window. I hope both can be fixed quickly. Too bad you can't make use of all that sunshine you have out there in CA! Hugs! And lets hope things stop at TWO this time!~
ReplyDeletesuper sweet cards, love the flower card with the cute birdie
ReplyDeleteLOve them both, D... but those bunnies? Thumping fantabulous!!! And is that a new little hamster wheel and signature? Or am I just visiting when my brain is fresh? Nah...
ReplyDelete=] M
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the cute colorful bunnies. The sediment is exactly what I would imagine them saying. Watch out for that 3rd shoe. The last time I said that I broke a tooth, had a root canal, and now waiting on a crown prep.
ReplyDeleteLove both of your cards, I had trouble with my first one like your flower one. I'm wondering if I should have dried my ink as the masking lifted the cardstock. I really love your bunny card, so many colorful bunnies and the sentiment is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI agree I think things happen in 3's! Love your cards, the bunnies are so cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards Darnell! The bunnies are so cute all lined up, trying to out shine one another! This class is fun, isn't it?
ReplyDeletewishing you some GOOD LUCK! your first card is so pretty. that bunny card is SOOOO CUTE!!! just love it!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome cards...masking looks perfect! Gotta love those cute bunnies.Hope you get your stuff fixed soon...love the plastic wrap idea!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, I hope the third 'drop' doesn't happen! I'm so sorry for the tribulations you've had... but your cards sure are lovely! What gorgeous use of the masking technique! Your designs and color are fabulous as ever and I'm so tickled with the sentiment pairing with the bright bunnies! :o) You are so creative. Stunning work once again, my friend! Wishing a day of love and happiness!
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Karen
Gorgeous cards Darnell, perfect designs, I love the bunny's!

Another fabulous post Darnell and looks like you are having fun at the online class. Great take on the LIM challenge and the little birdie charm is so cute. Glad to see the bunny card is linked up at ATSM too. Thanks so much as always for playing along. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteYour masked cards are so fun It almost makes me want to run and join the class ASAP. Sorry about the other happenings.
ReplyDeleteI love these fun cards Darnell, your hummer on the first one is the perfect touch and the bright bunnies on the second one are such fun. Looks like you're having fun on your course!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much
Chrissie
"Less is More"
...bugger about the dryer and the window!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the bunnies! Their colors, their grassy hill (great idea!), their white tails and the 'boys on the right, girls on the left' line-up (assuming it is wee lassie bunnies on the left).
Really cool splatters on the flower card! Love the colors and love the humming bird, which I thought was embossed at first glance!
Hope the ink hasn't stained Hammie's coat!
Oh Darnell!! I am sorry about your car window and your dryer. Things like this always happen at the same time to us too. I LOVE your cards for the class. The first one with all the layering elements and that large flower looks really cool. I like the bunnies facing each other on the second card and that sentiment is perfect. This sounds like a fabulous class!!
ReplyDeleteOh, why do we always get bombarded with these annoyances. So sorry about your card and dryer. My car is the bane of my life lately, always something going wrong. And I've got a dryer problem too ....I don't own one! haha
ReplyDeleteTwo fantabulous cards, love your little metal hummingbird and the score lines across the whole design look great. Love your little bright bunnies too.
Thanks for sharing at ATSM and Less is More xx
Fabulous masking Darnell..looks like an interesting class. Those bunnies are just adorable..what a great way to use a stamp..love how some of their ears are floppy and the others are standing up. "(Perhaps that's their mating call...)Hope you don't get a third breakdown at home! Thanks for playing along at Colour Q this week!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great class. Both cards are fantastic! And I am in love with those bunnies--too cute! Love the rainbow colors! Maybe this time the mishaps will come only in pairs--hope so!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Card.. I am in that class too. great inspiration there. I have not had time to play as of yet but can't wait to get started. I love that little humming bird... I am with you on the hoarding stash.. some things are just too precious to use... sorry about your luck... tell GOD to tell murphy to take a vacation. :)
ReplyDeleteTwo simply fabulous makes - love the use of the hummingbird charm.
ReplyDeleteHope the third thing hasn't happened and that both the dryer and window are fixed now
Kathyk
Both absolutely gorgeous cards Darnell, you are so creative. Hopefully no more mishaps.
ReplyDeleteI am kinda bummed to miss this class live. I know I can do it later, but I love them live. Just got back from visting my Dad in CA and am catching up on blogs. Your masking is great. I think I'll just enjoy this one via blogs. Hope your third is minor.
ReplyDeleteDarnell, both of these cards are such fun designs!! I absolutely ADORE the colorful bunnies!! Thanks for sharing your creation with us at Addicted to Stamps & More! Hugs & Smiles - *Vicki*-DT member
ReplyDeleteWell, masking and you go together like PB and J!! So glad your doing this class, I wasn't able to so will live vicariously thru your posts. Loving those bunnies, they are so adorable and sitting together perfectly. And a hummingbird brad?? How very you and can't believe you let it go. Will you give the card to someone or secretly take the brad off again and pop away in your drawer??? Hope your window is fixed now, at least its not the middle of winter. Love all the cling wrap, is something Dave would do!! Lovely seeing you at ATSM!!
ReplyDeleteYour masking came out great. I really like how you clustered the smaller flowers around the big one. And I can see why you would hoard the hummingbird.
ReplyDeleteThose bunnies are supper cute. I love the bright colors, and Hammy picked a winner for the sentiment.
Mister definitely gets points for creativity for his window solution. Trust me, it is better than leaving it open. When I was dating my husband, he had a similar problem with one of the windows in his car. He left it and eventually had a small tree growing in the backseat floor board. I'm not exaggerating. And acorn took root in the car, nourished by McDonald's fries.
This looks like a great class! Love those masked flowers and the bunnies are as adorable as a basket full of multi-color Peeps! I think the plastic wrap is a very clever way to take care of the disappearing window. Hope all is fixed by now and the 3rd shoe didn't drop.
ReplyDeleteLove your colourful bunnies. So cute. Hugz
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards using this masking technique Darnell. I love the big flower with the sentiment and the others behind with the pretty splattering and the hummingbird charm, and those gorgeous bright bunnies and just the perfect sentiment to go with them. So sorry for your car and dryer problems. We have a new car with a puzzling vibration problem and our phone line went in the middle of the week but thankfully was put right yesterday. These things are sent to try us as they say and normally come in threes, but I hope not!
ReplyDeleteLong line here, Darnell, you have quite a following! Love both cards, but of course I love the bunny card and the sentiment tells the story of those happy colors! Hope the third shoe did not drop, but you are right they usually do! Thanks for joining in the fun at the colourQ!
ReplyDeleteCA-UTE bunny card! Thanks for joining in at ATCAS!
ReplyDeleteTwo stunning creations Darnell, hope you are enjoying class!
ReplyDeleteLove the bunnies and that humming bird charm is perfect for our challenge
Thanks so much for joining us
Anne
Less is More
Both these are gorgeous! I love those cute colourful bunnies and the sentiment is perfect! xxx
ReplyDeleteBunny card - poifect. Saran Wrap - better than duct tape.
ReplyDeleteHow simply cute is that rainbow of bunnies :) Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us this week at Addicted to Stamps and More, please be sure to come back and join us again soon!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty posy of blooms, Darnell, beautifully enhanced by that wonderful little hummer! Your rainbow bunnies ... delightful ... they all look equally gorgeous, regardless of the colour they're wearing (as no doubt Hammy does too!). Hope the third shoe stayed up, my friend! Miss you! Hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute card.
ReplyDeleteFabulous masking on these two, Darnell. I have a soft spot for those cute little bunnies and that sentiment ;-)
ReplyDeletePS: Mister is very creative :-o
So sorry about the car window.. your bunnies? OMG! Jaw dropping awesome! Love the rainbow of colors and the embossing!
ReplyDelete
