Well, yello!
I hope your week is going swell!
I am still walking around a bit beduffled adjusting to the time difference. I was up for 19 hours straight and then I slept for most of the next 19 hours. When I was awake, Hammy was shoving papers and sketching ideas as fast as I could work. He is atingle with creativity after resting on his laurels for over a week. (Reminds me, I need to get him new laurels to replace his worn-out ones.)
What got him started were the pretty yellow and gray colors at the Fusion Challenge, which we ended up missing! We've made a couple four cards and I'm splitting them up due to Blog Regulation 238 as it retains to over whelming.
Whelming, you know, is a tradition that started with the invention of the first wheel. To "whelm" was to pound and chisel your stone into a circular shape. When one of the wheel contestants was showing off and being a superachiever, making three wheels in the span of time that it usually took to make one wheel, he was considered to be "over" whelming.*
Thus, I will post only two cards today so as not to be an over whelmer. My cards are thank you cards.

The lovely NBUS floral die is from Memory Box, "Frangia Bouquet," and the NBUS stitched tag is from an MFT Dienamics set, "Stitched Tag STAX," both gifts from the lovely Mary H. I used SRM stickers for the sediments. QACAS!

ReplyDeleteSuch pretty spring blooms you've attached to your card. I'm glad that you're adjusting to the time difference!
Beautiful projects, what nice gifts from Mary :) That flower die is a must have. Well, I've seen your lovely cards and learned something new today. I'll think of you every time I use the word overwhelmed!

ReplyDeleteI'm just coming to the end of an utterly rubbish, rotten, stressful day and your post has made me smile for the first time today - thank you! Your cards, as always, are wonderful, your words are even wonderfuller. I'm off to go and whelm a few wheels now, it might work off a bit of the stress.
ReplyDeleteIsn't grey and yellow a delight! Love the subtle embossed texture here and naturally adore these enamel dots. Thanks for joining Uniko
ReplyDeleteWell - even though there are ONLY 2 cards here - they are marvelous and have got me a shopping for some new dies so you could say I am a teensy weensy bit overwhelmed!! The cards are super well done and I love the color scheme - I LOVE yellow!! I will be going to take a look at all the fun challenges you mentioned!!! Have a GLORIOUS day!!!
ReplyDeleteEAR WORM!!!! And I'm whelmed on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteA pair of lovelies Darnell!! I think I like the second one best ~ go figure since I'm a polka dot fanatic!! But either or, they are both fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove anything yellow and these two certainly fit the bill. Grey and yellow make me atingle just like your Hammie.

Two fab cards Darnell, love the colour combos, hugs Carole Z xx
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards Darnell and that MB die and stitched tag work wonderfully together on this first card and the second card has those little added dots which add lots of interest and the pretty flower centres that you have added on both cards finish the flowers so prettily. x
ReplyDeleteLove that MB die, but them I could buy them all. Is there a MBdieaolics anonymouse anywhere?
ReplyDeleteA fab pair of thank you cards. :)
I meant to say that your whelming versus over whelming although not true was very plausible and a great story. You and Hammy never fail to make us chuckle! x

ReplyDeleteDarnell, love these grey and yellow cards. I was thinking of going into this challenge too but spent too much time thinking and not enough moving.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you have Hammy up and moving again. Your posts always give me a cackle.
Ahhh, it's always a joy come over to your blog Auntie, you always keep me entertained! lol I hope you are recovering more from the time difference. I've never been more than an hour ahead of my own time, so I can't even begin to imagine! Your beautiful cards match my spare bedroom perfectly! Especially my comforter on the spare bed. lol I love grey and yellow together, it just a classy color combo to me. Loving those flowers and that stitched tag, that Momma Mary is so generous isn't she?!! Love, love, love! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeletegrey and yellow - such a beautiful color combination! The fist car I like a tad better - the neon-y yellow really make this card shine!
ReplyDeleteGreat colors. Love the flower die.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you missed the Fusion challenge but you've found other challenges that these lovely gray and yellow cards fit. I love that new flower die.
ReplyDeleteLovin' that you are using SRM!!!! Awesome cards, Miss Lady!!
ReplyDeleteI love that flower die and the polka dot paper. Then I really like the little dots you added to the second card. If you are under whelmed does that mean your wheel was square or you just didn't finish in the alloted time?
ReplyDeleteLol @ over whelming. You are quite a hoot! I feel like you'd be so fun to hang out with! Maybe someday at a crafting event! Hope you're doing well <3
ReplyDeleteYou had me at the title! Started singing it the minute I saw it! Love the yellow and gray combo! Hope you are recovered now. Have a great day Darnell!
ReplyDeleteHammy was right to get you going on grey and yellow - thay are fabulous together and you have really made them sing with these over-wheeling cards Darnell.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
Your sister's retreat sounds wonderful. I love the pictures you've been sharing. And how fun you got to meet up with some crafty friends as well. Hope your body can adjust back quickly. The lack of sleep certainly does not seem to be affecting the quality or fabulousness of your card making. These are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous. I love the grey and yellow together.
ReplyDeleteYou always make me laugh, Darnell! So fun to see how different the die cut looks in 2 different shades. Glad you're getting adjusted back to the West Coast!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your post today and glad you've got your sleep pattern back I love these cards and such a pretty die they are just perfect cards love and hugs Carole e
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards - I love your Memory Box die and must put that on my wish list!
ReplyDeleteKath x
Hahaha! I was so enjoying your explanation of "over" whelming and then you had to go and ruin it all with that explanation, lol! I immediately recognised the "Fusion" influence and I am sad that these beauties missed the deadline, they're gorgeous! :-)
ReplyDelete2 wonderful cards Darnell , love those yellow flowers. I love your definition of whelm, so funny! You should write your own book of definitions :o)
ReplyDeleteVal x
I did not know that about the word "overwhelming". I learned something new:) Love these 2 cards and the basic colour palette is great. I like grey and yellow together
ReplyDeleteKrasni voščilnici! Všeč mi je barvna kombinacija.

Simply Paper Card Design
I'm personally overwhelmed by the beauty of these two cards. In a good way, of course! LOVE the yellows and grays together. And your designs are simply gorgeous. That tag is cool, and the polkies are totally perfect. You go girl! (and all is good so far here...) Miss you!!! Bev
ReplyDeleteVery pretty cards, whelm done!
ReplyDeleteLove your duo of cards today, Darnell. They are both so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm just mad about saffron lol!
Love the grey and yellow combo. Its striking and effective.
Didn't realise your visit entailed jetlag. Always leaves me feeling like a bag of poo. Hope you feel better soon.
Ang x
I think this is an underrated colour combo and am overwhelmed by the gorgeousness of these cards. So pretty. Hugz
ReplyDeleteOh pretty, pretty. Lovely to see these goodies put to great use. Am loving the gray & yellow. Not something I would think to do colorwise, but I like it! Enjoyed the vocab lesson too. I will watch out for the whelming henceforth. Don't think I've been guilty of being a whelmer, but now I shall be very careful. TFS & Big hugs. Happy wkend.
ReplyDeleteReally like (mellow) yellow and gray together and must make a note to create more cards with this combo. Your two cards are so pretty, Darnell~that's a great floral NBUS die!
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards Dolly. Yellow and gray are so perfect together. Stay mello yello! Lolly xx
ReplyDeleteLove your overwhelming story, Darnell!!! ...and love your beautiful cards!!!
ReplyDeleteI will never hear the word overwhelmed in the same way again! Lol! Love your post and these sweet fusion inspired cards! As always, each and every time I visit, I am leaving with a big smile!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat di! No wonder you wanted to make it twice!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful...
I love it when I can't create fast enough to deal with all the new ideas in my head. It doesn't happen often (and wish it would happen now) but its rather exhilarating (and exhausting....). Love both of these, the flowers are so dainty but quite modern too. And look beautiful in yellow. Hammy must be pretty tired too, hope he gives his wheel a rest for a while.....
ReplyDeleteGreat CARDS... I love both of them... the yellow and grey are amazing together... I love coming to your blog to visit... and I often go in your playhouse to have a peek around and get ideas for my own.. although my playhouse is right off my kitchen and dining room. I do have two windows and a glass sliding door. I use it to keep everyone else out for a while. I just want to say you always brighten my day. Have a great memorial day
ReplyDeleteYum ... grey and buttery yellow ... what a gorgeous combination, Darnell ... these are chock a block full of prettiness! Hope you're well and truly back on California time by now, my friend! Hugs & Bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeletePretty pretty cards Darnell! I'm very fond of grey and yellow together. Thank you too for your good wishes and prayers, they really are much appreciated. Hugs Sue xx

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! Love the two takes on the pretty flowers! Yellow is such a happy color. Thanks for playing along with us in the "X,Y,C" challenge at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Darnell! I am so loving the yellow and gray! Just beautiful! Hope you are enjoying your Memorial Day weekend. Hugs
ReplyDeleteLove that flower die. Two wonderful cards using it :)
ReplyDelete...'over' whelming...yep, coffee through the nose again!
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards! Love the polkie dots paired with the enamel dots! Really cool to see how a bit of texture & subtle colors can change the look & feel (card #2)of a card! I really like the Thank You sentiment box!
Another GREAT post!
I'm light years behind in commenting, apparently still overwhelmed with the 'rambunctious' visit to see my family (niece and nephew fully to blame *grin*), but deciding to 'start anew' with this post was, in my considered opinion, a rare stroke of brilliance on my part! A vocab lesson, two GORGEOUS cards, and an ab workout from laughing so hard! You've made my day, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHugs galore~c
Love the dots...but wow the second card...that one is the standout to me. Love that textured paper.
ReplyDeleteYour over whelming lie made me smile. As did the lovely pair of sunny cards. I can't decide which I like best. Grey and yellow is such a great color combo.
