Hi there!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend and your week is shaping up to be terrific!
A couple of days ago, I decided to clean out a small cabinet in the Playhouse. Forty-eight hours later and it looks like a bomb went off as one thing led to another thing and presently I am two-thirds of the way through reorganizing and purging every square inch. As a serial organizer, I have to say it has been way too long since I scratched that itch and I'm in hog heaven.
In spite of that, after all those hours, I also felt the itch to make a card or two and so as I was cleaning, I had Hammy be On The Alert as he watched me from the safety of his cage, fascinated by the unusual mess of the Heaveho. And what a good lad he is, stopping me not five minutes later as he saw a patterned paper that reminded him of the current ATCAS challenge and HLS challenge, both of which are "banners!"
And I made this with it:
Clearing off six inches of space on my desk, I used my NBUS Lawn Fawn "Speech Bubble Border" to die cut the paper, which I placed over the top of a card base embossed with a NBUS "checkerboard" folder from Darice. And, no surprise, the die-cut sediment from Penny Black is also NBUS. You might say this card was a NBUS sundae!

Today's Twofer
Then during lunch, I looked through some of the incoming posts. I was really taken with the adorable tag cards over at Tag You're It, so I made a Christmas tag card for my entry:
This snowflake stencil was one of several that Lolly made for me. (Thank you, again, Lolly!) I used a light application to sponge on Tim's tumbled glass, milled lavender, and picked raspberry using a dauber. The sediment is from Paper Smooches. The two tags were cut with an MFT Dienamics die in a pink vellum and a piece of PTI pp. The stitched gingerbread man is made from a NBUS die from Lil Inker. The twine is a hemp cord that I sponged with tumbled glass.

Here is Anja's super cute inspiration tag card:
The tags made by Betty as Guest Designer and the DT are also fabulous!

New Friends Corner
I'm delighted to welcome more new friends to the Playhouse!
Bunny of Bunny's Cards. Bunny has been blogging since January 2014. Actually, I'm not sure how long before that she was blogging as her first blog was pirated away by Creeps. A good reminder about backing up! Bunny's cards are so bright and happy and impeccably made! She loves entering challenges and serving on design teams as a member or guest designer. Bunny's trophy case is bulging at the seams from all her many well-deserved challenge wins!
Miranda Mols of Stampin Utopia. Miranda is from Limburg where she lives with her husband, two children, and a dog. She has been blogging since 2013. Miranda started scrapbooking in 2007 and making cards in 2011. In 2012, she became a Stampin' Up demonstrator and she has been the #1 demonstrator for the last two years! Her fun and original card designs are wonderfully CAS!
Donna of Room in a Cupboard. Donna is from the UK and she has only been blogging since February of this year. Please make a special effort to visit and follow Donna and welcome her to our wonderful stamping community! You may already recognize Donna's blog name (which I love) because she already plays in many of the same challenges that we do. I think you will find her expertly made cards to be charming and very inspirational!
Linda W. of Scrappin', Stampin' & Singin'. What a great blog name! You already feel like a happy lady lives there! Linda has been blogging since 2011. And the singing is serious: she is a member of Sweet Adelines! I love Linda's pretty designs which are colorful and make me smile. By the way, her blog is an excellent source of inspiration for Christmas cards!
Buffy Esser-Burnside of Cherished Mementos. Buffy has been blogging since 2012. She is a scrapper and a card artist and like so many of us, she loves challenges and she serves on a design team. So whether you are looking for page layouts or card layouts, Buffy will have something to inspire you!
Thank you for joining, ladies, and welcome to the Playhouse! (Hammy loves that we are welcoming both a Bunny and a Buffy today!)
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!
I need to do some serious organization in my craft space too. Way past due! Love, love, love your gorgeous cards Darnell. The stencil is fabulous and I adore all the texture on the first one.
ReplyDeleteOne of those crazy facts of life that you have to make an enormous mess when you're cleaning up! I love both cards - so clever with the speech bubble, the banners just say PARTAY! and how cute is that gingerbread man?
ReplyDeleteDarnell, I love the thought of reorganising, but then the reality is often rather overwhelming:) Hope you get everything in it's place soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the cards. I really like making a tag to go on a card. I must try that.
Hope you have a lovely day. Sue
Two fabulous cards Darnell and I love the great papers you have used and perfect for the two challenges, also the checkerboard EF and lovely sentiment, and your cute gingerbread man and stencilled background go perfectly with the pretty vellum and pp for the double layer tag. x
ReplyDeleteAaaaah! The clean out. I can feel one coming on, too. But not 'til scrap retreat is over.....LOVE both cards....the little gingerbread man is way cute. Looks like you dug out a bit of NBUS stuff as you were cleaning!! WTG:):)
ReplyDeleteWell, first, I'd like to say, if you feel that itch again Darnell . . . I'll pay your air fair to scratch it in my craft room . . . I work in total chaos (which is why I don't join in over at the WOYWDW). . . really, I'm too ashamed! Secondly . . . two very fabulous cards. I love the texture on the hooray card, great EF, and that sweet (pun intended) gingerbread man is just too darn cute . . . I LOVE what you have done with the tags! Nice work! Have a lovely day! Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteOh my I love that banner card!! Beautifully done!! Love the BG on your tag card ... I have a confession... Well... Gingerbread men give me the Heebie Jeebies!! No idea why, probably saw a movie or something when I was a kid... All the same your card is super ...
From one organizing fanatic to another...hooray for you!! How fun that your paper called you to make this fantastic card. Love the big speech bubble. Your Christmas card is so CUTE!! I like the non traditional colors and the sweet gingerbread man. I see a winner!!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! LOVING the banner paper and the gingerbread man!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, both designs are beautiful, I especially like the Christmas collage style card. I also love to re-organize my craft room and purge if I can part with things. Take good care, hugs, Shirleyxx
ReplyDeleteBoth really cute cards. I am particularly fond of gingerbread men. I love the stenciling in non traditional colors.
ReplyDeleteTwo fantastic cards and use of NBUS. doesn't having a sort out make you feel good....trouble is I am an organised person that hates to part with anything!....fast becoming a craft hoarder...is that an illness?...lol
ReplyDeleteThese are just dahling Darnell and Hammy! Love them both. Gotta say though the gingerbread person slightly swings it for me.
ReplyDeleteHugs
xx
Good luck with the clean up and out of your playhouse, Darnell. It looks worse before it looks better, right? Your cards are wonderful! You made your NBUS sundae look delicious! And the Christmasy card almost makes me want to listen to Christmas songs, but then everyone's eyes would be as round as that little gingerbread guy's! I really like your sponging of the colors with the stencil. (Lucky you to be the recipient of that gem). Thanks so much for sharing, Darnell. Hope you are having a happy day. :)
ReplyDeleteBoy, Hammy sounds like he's quite helpful in the craftroom - such an eye! love your layered banners - what a fun card! and your gingerbread tag is just adorable! Have fun organizing - I've been trying to do it inch by inch - but I'm finding I forget where I put things after just haveing them out in view for so long!!!
ReplyDeleteHowdy neighbor I am also a "cereal (ha ha) organizer." My card making group had a garage sale last week and I had 15 packets of 10 SU! dsp and so much more that I made enough to buy a Misti - yippee. So back to you well those are darn nice cards Miss Iowa and I like the new embossing folder and the snowflake stencil is lovely. Well nice talking to you. Hugs, BBB
ReplyDeleteTantalizing two-fer today, miss D...
Banner card = WWCD!!!!! So glad you took time out from your purge to make this card. It's beyond brilliant. The paper, die, and the ef all work so well together. Just love it. And the chillin' g'bread man....sweet card, and also, in my book, a winner. Am popping over to your new friends in a sec. Have a great Wed-Sat. Missing you terribly!! Bev
Hi Darnell,
ReplyDeletegreat design cards today as always.
wonderful idea all those banners or bunting as we call it in the UK.
OOOOOOOOO! I love gingerbread men especially the eatable ones. LOL.
I do hope you are feeling a lot better now.
Love and biggest hugs from my house to yours.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Great set of cards. Great banners on the first and adore the BG for the tag and gingerbread man.
ReplyDeleteNeed to borrow you for a few days so you can help me do some organizing in my house ;)
Hammy did good this time, he really has a wonderful eye for colour, I just love all the gorgeous banners on the first card with the beautiful red sentiment. Your Christmas card is so beautiful in those colour tones - that is a great stencil your friend did for you too! Hugs, Annie xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you for the 'Shout Out' and very kind words, Darnell :)
ReplyDeleteI also like to indulge in 'sorting therapy'... no wonder I like your blog!
Big thumbs up for your twofer :)
Wonders if you still do NBUS challenges for fun from time to time..?
Hope so... because your NBUS badge is fab and I want it on my blog :)
Super wonderful card designs. Keep me enthused until I find time to do my own crafting again. Too busy resting in between cooking and such with grandsons here. LOL
ReplyDeleteHammy is one clever rodent! This is such a great idea - and the perfect way to use up the stash of DP (which I'm sure we ALL have!) The textured background sells the idea perfectly!
ReplyDelete....Sigh....the green & pink Christmas tag card is fabulous! I love, love, love the sponged snowflake background. Sweet wee ginger fella too :)
Once you get done with your playhouse, perhaps you & Hammy would like to mosey up the road and do mine. I'll even cook for you, and I don't do that for everyone. Boy, your NBUS stuff does wondrous things...your onefer is so cheery and fun. And your twofer is really adorable. Hey, are you finding more NBUS than you thought you had? Bet you are.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing more satisfying than sorting out your craft stuff, especially if it inspires you to make a card or two. I love, love, love your banner card and the embossing folder you used. Bright and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tag card too.
Kath x
Two great cards! Does Hammy ever hire out as a consultant? I could sure use his keen eye for usable stash in my craft area!
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are so fun and festive! Fabulous creations, my friend!
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards Miss Darnell...just love your sweet banner card, so stinkin' clever I have to say. And your sweet gingerbread card is just as yummy and cute as can be. Thanks for joining us at Happy Little Stampers.
ReplyDeleteLove your NBUS sundae Darnell, such a cheerful little number and your Christmas card is such a cutie. Carol x
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell :)
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are fab, as always... but I think the thing I like most about your tag card (apart from the oh so cute little Gingerbread guy, obviously) is your use of pink vellum. It's like the icing on a cake and works perfectly... not to mention the fact that I really like icing :)
Thanks for being part of the Tag You're It challenge again this month. It's nice to see familiar faces joining in the fun :)
Your banner/speech bubble card is so adorable (you are very lucky to have Hammy help you) and your tag card took my breath away! Absolutely love the vellum touch and the gingerbread man with googly eyes!
ReplyDeleteI should be purging my stuff, too but I am not very good at it. I always think that someday I might use the things I haven't looked at in years...
Yep, those are banners! I love the embossing folder you used. Great one. Your tag is really pretty. How nice of Loll to make you a stencil. The gingerbread man is the cutest, I love him. I'm worried for you. Don't you realize that when you reorganize you can never find anything. I hope Hammy was watching so he can help you when you need something. You know hamsters never forget, oh wait. That's elephants.
ReplyDeleteWhat a piece of luck (or good help by Hammy) to find that banner paper! It's perfect and I love the die cut Hooray and embossing! And that tag card is goigous! Love the stenciling and I think I have that same NBUS gingerbread man that needs to see some action! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday!
ReplyDeleteFun cards, and I'm really fond of those tags on the 2nd card! Way to use that hoarded stash too! Heh heh
ReplyDeleteLet's chill? Could you get any more Christmasy and punny than that? This is why I like you. And your banners? So sweet and lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find with the banner paper!!! And your Christmas tag is adorable!! Love the colors and the stenciling!
ReplyDeleteI need to reorganize, too, but lord, I dread it!!!!
I like both of your cards, but the "Hooray" card is my favorite. It's over the top fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteHello! I am so glad you stopped by my blog to say Hi. I don't think I realized that you weren't doing WOYWW anymore. I will definitely make a better effort to stop by more often. I miss your awesome sense of humor! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove your twofer today.
April
Your cards are a delight Auntie. I love the banner paper and I love how you used it to die cut a speech bubble. I don't think I would have ever thought to do that. But I will have to give it a try sometime. I love your gingerbread and tag card. Great way to use tags and I am loving it. I love tags, but never know quite how to use them on a card. The sponged background is amazing and so pretty and I just love the "let's chill" sentiment. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteYour cards are fabulous Darnell. I love the paper you used on the first one and your second card with the tag is perfect. I love the soft background.
That checkerboard texture is just yummy with all those celebratory banners ... sweet little gingerbread man tag ... he must be keeping an eye on Hammy's antics ... and wondering what he's up to! I tend to feel quite pleased with myself when it's all done though and very satisfied. I'm glad to see Hammy was on the ball though picking out those fantastic banner papers. Great take on the ATCAS challenge and I'm thrilled to see your stunning berry card too for less is more and what a great twist making it a Christmas make.
