Hey! How's it going?
Hammy has all the time in the world, but alas, I don't, so he kindly found a few challenges that we could quickly manage with simplicious one-layer cards. Making cards can be a practical exercise, it can satisfy our creative needs, or sometimes it can be pure therapy. And, of course, it's always extraspecially fun when there's sparkle involved!

I have had a couple of pieces of this pretty blue snowflake paper for over a decade. I purchased it at a stamping store parking lot swap meet, so I have no idea how old it actually is. I could never come up with a satisfactory way to use it over the years, but, man, oh, manski, just look at what modern-day die-cut snowflakes and a few sequints did for it!
Those silver snowflakes were cut with a NBUS "Let It Snowflakes" die from MFT. The sediment is called "Seasonal Sentiments" and it's also from MFT. And that's it. A QACAS ten-minute Christmas card! Now if I only had lots more of that paper ...

Today's Twofer
Because my onefer OLC was so simples, I had time for another. This one took a bit longer and satisfied my curiosity about a technique I've wanted to try.
I recently started dabbling with my Ziggies and I saw where someone ~ I forget who ~ had used Ziggies to color directly to her stamp, spritz, and apply to watercolor paper. I've loved this technique for a long time using my Marvy markers, but I wanted to try it with the Ziggies. Conclusion: I think they worked fine, but if I'm honest, I'd rather save my Ziggie ink for more traditional watercoloring and use my other marker brands for the direct-to-stamp-and-spritz technique.
The sediment is from PTI's "Meadow Greens." After wards, I winked and glazed the wheatheads til they sparkled.

Hi Darnell,
both cards are really wonderful. I like snowflakes and sparkle and blue. Perfect ! But I like also the warm Autumn colors.
Best regards, Synnöve
Oh these are simply fabulous cards Darnell. I do LOVE that watercolour effect. Hammy certainly earned his treat.
Hope Mister continues to improve. x
The Christmas card is lovely. You can never too much sparkle on a Christmas card:)
I think the second card is perfect. I love the colours and the sentiment.
Hope you have a good day. Sue
I think I need to go through my paper stash pronto, because I love how your snowflakes turned out. And you're right: with new techniques and dies, those old papers can be very useful still.
Wish I could borrow Hammy for a while. He seems to be a real helper. Three of our cats often THINK they are helpful, but their way of being helpful consists of curling up in my lap or lying flat out on my craft space or hubby's newspaper.
Marianne x
Aaah, Hammy really did deserve that wonderful treat, he looks just adorable.... Both cards are stunning, I love the sparkle on the first one and the 'serenity' of the second one - I really must try that watercolour technique some time... you do it so well.
Ha, ha, I have decided against the skeleton - there is only room for one diva in this craft room and that is moi!!
Hugs, Annie xxx
Look at all that sparkle and shimmer! Truly fabulous...love how you have placed every last snowflake and sequin perfectly Darnell. And your one layer beauty...wow...the rich fall colors are perfection in my book.
great cards, love the blue with the silver, gorgeous
Always worth keeping onto DSP and adding the sequins and snowflakes inspired and lovely take on Michele's card. And I love this sentiment for your TO and Fusion card, such a dreamy look to this Autumn card. Great to see at TO and Fusion x
Two awesome cards, Darnell! I'm glad you're still finding a little crafting time, it's good for the soul. I don't know how you keep a track of all of your friends, new and old! So many people who love you to bits! :-) I hope Kevin is recovering well. You've both been in my thoughts.
Two very lovely CAS cards Darnell. It's great that you found a use for your lovely blue sparkle paper at last, that's why we crafters never throw anything away, lol. I love the simplicity of the second card and the beautiful Autumnal colours too. I don't know why but I find CAS designs more difficult than a fussy card but you have totally nailed this. Take care,
Lorraine
Hi Darnell, So much to comment on in your post today. You've made two lovely cards, and both very different. That blue card is lovely and the snowflakes are just perfect. It's turned into an absolutely gorgeous Christmas card. I love the colours of your second card. I also haven't done this technique for ages. Like the wink of Stella too.
Hammy is certainly enjoying his treat. What a little sweetie. We used to have a couple years ago and what beautiful babies they had!
I hope that your Mister is continuing to improve daily. Off to visit your new followers now. Barbxx
ADORE the sparkly Chrissy card & that sentiment is perfect.....then you go and do an equally brill 2nd one...completely different but oh so loveable!!! Hope your patient is improving each post you post and each card you make:):)

Your cards are GORGEOUS! LOVING them!! And Hammie is ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!
Both your cards are gorgeous and I cant but marvel at the way you take time to learn about and introduce your new followers. Many a times Google friend connect refuses to tell me who my new follower is!
Cheers
Dr Sonia
These are both beautiful cards Darnell and I adore that blue snowflake paper with the added sparkly snowflakes, and the glossy wheat heads are so pretty and your sentiments are really great on both cards. Love the added sequins on both too. x
That sparkling snowflake card is breathtakingly stunning! Oh my!
Love the watercolored look on the second card! Great idea to wink and glaze the heads!
Cut shot of Hammy! That snack was well deserved!
Both cards are beautiful! Love the sparkly snowflakes on the blue one. Thanks for joining us at ATCAS.
This a a gorgeous card, Darnell! I really want to get some zigs!!
Thanks, too, for the nice review and spending some time in my playground! : )
What a cutie that Hammie is!
Ooooohhh.... Your cards turned out wonderful. It's amazing what paper, dies and ink can do!
Hiya Pookie! Love the sparkly, glittery snowflake card. Those snowflakes make my eyes happy, and that sentiment is perfect for all the shimmer. And what a perfect blue. Amazingly purty card. Your second card set my little heart aflutter! That subtle shimmer and shine on the wheat stalks is gorgeous!!! Kudos to you and Hammie for making two QAEZ gorgeous cards. Hope the Mister continues to get better and better, and that you have more and more time in the playhouse. One year. Just one more year... Missing you!!!! Bev
You have just endorsed the 'never throw anything away' that us crafters do! brilliant idea with the papers...but NO! don't go buy anymore...the idea is to get rid...not store..tell hammy that one! Great cards Darnell. Hope all is improving for you.
I LOVE Hammy!! He surely did receive a meal fit for a king!! I love your design on your card! The watercolor effect is quite lovely and the sparkle on the top of the wheat heads!! Beautiful!! Thank you for playing along with the Fusion Card Challenge!
The One-fer is just gorgeous, love the sparkles! And that two-fer? Well..... being in the "land of wheat" where we have a LOT of wheat fields, it is just awesome!
Well aren't you the champion of challenge combining! Way to go. I absolutely love the watercolored grain!
Pleased to see that Hammy made you take some time for yourself and the results are fabulous. The wheat looks amazing and the sentiment is so very true. Love the silvery sparkle on the snowflake card xx
Nice to see you in the Muse gallery, Darnell - lovely addition I may add! If asked? I may LOve the wheat even more =]
=] M
Who doesn't like a bit of sparkle! Beautiful Christmas card and I love the colours and technique on your second card!
Snippety or Scrappety, you Do-Da'd both of these cards up right. Wish we knew who manufactured that snowflake paper cuz it's yummy! Hammy really came through for you this time so he deserves that treat.
I am glad that you gave Hammy such a nice treat. He deserves it. LOVE the pretty snowflake card and I like that you are getting out old supplies to use. Your second card is so pretty. I think I agree with you about using other markers for that technique rather then the Zig's. Other markers are cheaper to replace!!!
Beautiful card!! The snowflakes are very beautiful! Your second card is very beautiful. I'm also trying the same technique for some of my Christmas cards using a nameless brand markers, which I use for coloring as well. Looks good.

Beautiful job making that snowflake paper pop. Lovely cards.
Hi Darnell,
what wonderful cards, and I love the sparkle of the snowflakes on the first as I am a glitzy girl.
The 2nd one has a wonderful technique, and gorgeous colour too.
Hammy looks happy with his treat.
Love and bug hugs from my house to yours.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Hi Darnell - it's always a pleasure to see you join in with us. I think your snowflake card is fab. And your gorgeous wheat stalks are just so perfect for our autumn theme. Love the glaze on the wheat heads. Thanks so much for playing along with The Male Room. xxx
Oh, love your last photo... How cute is Hammy??!!
Beautiful both the cards, love expecially the second one!! Just fabulous!! I have to try this wondrful technique, but I think it's possible only with aqua markers, it's right?
Have a great day!
What can I say, Darnell?
Two gorgeous cards. Really beautiful :)
Thanks for playing at Time Out, your card is simple but elegant.
ĹšnieĹĽynek brilliance. It looks simply captivating! The second card is also unique. I love her delicacy.
Regards,
BozenA
Both are beautiful! Love the sparkle on that first one and the wonderful fall colors on the second!
Also glad that the Mister is doing somewhat better now.
Lynn
Both of your cards are stunning - love the use of sequins!
Sandy xx
My favourite colour combo of blue, white, and silver!! Love it! Perfect placement of the sequins and snowflakes!
My favourite colour combo of blue, white, and silver!! Love it! Perfect placement of the sequins and snowflakes!
Two sweet designs - and you hit so many challenges with them!! Hammy looks so happy there - does he wander around your craft cottage free???!!! I bet he fit all those treats in his cheeks!!! Hope The Mister is doing ok.... Julia xx
Oh my goodness - that frosty winter card actually (almost) gave me goosebumps! I love the color combination of blue, white & silver - it says chilly to me! And your watercolor card is gorgeous as well! Both cards are works of art in their own right. Hammy is adorable - I got my first one for my 10th birthday, and being the way I am, I chose the one that was all beat up, named it Happy (for my birthday). Well, the reason the other hamsters were beating up on Happy was because she was pregnant - oh joy! Took me a while to get rid of all the babies and it din't help that the babies were having babies LOL. Ahhh well, thanks for the trip down memory lane ~ Hugs! Christi

Back from a lovely relaxing holiday....and wish we had another week of good old R & R. Sneaking in some commenting at work so will keep this short!
Three stunners pal! The sparkly DP is incredible - I can see why you saved it! Sure do love what you did with it! Gorgeous water coloring too. The wheat (or could be oats) is the perfect image for this technique!
...but sweet Hammie. snarfing down some fresh garden produce, stole the show today!
Two fabulous cards, great snowflake paper and snowflakes and gorgeous colours on the second card, I think Hammy certainly deserved his treat.
Kath x
I love the light blue sparkly paper-I have had that one plus white and a pale lavender plus a pink. Your card is a perfect blend of sparkle and more sparkle-love the snowflakes-gives a Christmas wonder to me. The 2nd card is just great because i always have a hard time doing something simple. I always want to add more. This is just perfect! Love the way you did the wheat-I don't have anything that goes right on the stamps in markers (I have my tombows). I love the saying also and i have to get the wink of stella
Lovely sparkly snowflakes on the first card Dee and beautiful Autumn colours and water colouring on the second. Aww hammy looks so cute, give him a little stroke from me ☺ hugs Vee xx
Love how your card sparkles - very festive and fun! So glad you joined us at Muse, MCV and OLS!

Hi Darnell, your sparkly snowflakes card with THE most perfect sentiment is just lovely. However I LOVE your Ziggies water coloured card. Love the colours, love the stamp, love the sentiment, love the technique. A beautiful, arty, clean and simple OLC. Love it (did I already say that) lol. Hope the Mister is responding to your ministrations or should that be remonstrations. Hugs Lottie x
Great way to embellish an older paper! Now you've got me thinking, I know I have some decade-old snowflake paper. Maybe it's time to get it out! Your water colored wheat looks beautiful. Thanks for your thoughts on which markers you liked for the technique. Hammy! So adorable!!
That is some perfect paper for the die cut snowflakes! And I love your colored wheat! I'm with you on the Zigs. I'm going to save mine for coloring and use the other markers for coloring the stamps. But you got better results than I did when I tried it.
Wonderful snowflake card the design is gorgeous and your twofer is fab especially love the sentiment a fab post love and hugs Carole x
This is so gorgeous Darnell. I love the classic feel to it.
I am so glad you discovered your old blue paper because it made a beautiful card! I love sparkly snowflakes!
And your autumn card is pretty too!
Two utterly gorgeous cards Darnell - and so totally different - love them both!! So glad Hammy had a treat :-) ...I hope the nurse also gave Mr an equally healthy treat ;-)
Blessings
Maxine
Great cards Miss Darnell. I love the fall card and that is a good technique to use again. Until then..... B
Fabulous cards, Darnell! Love all the sparkly snow and your watercolored wheat is awesome! Love the gorgeous fall colors and the wonderful sentiment! Looks like Hammy might be getting a bit spoiled!!
Two beautiful cards Dolly! Love the sparkle from your snowflakes. Thanks for playing along at ATCAS.
Great job with the watercolour spritz and your zig markers. I have done this ... and they do work great. I hadn't thought about saving the zigs for more traditional watercolouring. You are right, even though they do a great job with this technique, the markers also work well for this. The only difference is the bright and vibrant zig colours ... I've never seen wheat look more beautiful! :) Lolly xx
both your cards are fabulous!!
Love the non traditional Christmas colors

So loving both of these cards Darnell, the sparkle...well what girl doesn't like sparkle? And I really was interested in seeing what inking you used on your fall card because the colors are so vibrant. Fabulous!
Great sparkle!
Oh my shimmery snowflake, that's one gorgeous QACAS card, Darnell ... all dressed up in it's party glimmeriness! LOVE the autumn coloured, sparkly shiny wheatsheaves ... absolutment magnifique, mon amie! An untried technique added to my ever growing list of things to play at ... p'raps one day I'll get a Darnell demonstration! So happy to have you playing along with us at Time Out with this beauty! Hugs & bisous, bisous, Anita :)
I think Hammy is eating better than me Darnell.. that little plate of bites looks yummy.. oh and healthy too! LOL! I'm in love with the wheat card - Its absolutely gorgeous!!
Gorgeous sparkly snowflake card, Darnell, but my heart is won over by your Ziggy-watercoloured wheat ears! And it's so nice of you to feed Hammy :)
WOW Darnell. You have blown me away today with all of your lovely challenge link ups. The snowflakes are divine and the blues so captivating. The varying colors of the wheat emit movement, so lovely. The sentiment is amazing too. LOVE your choices. Thanks for joining us at my fave challenges ...FUSION, The Challenge, and the close to my heart MUSE Christmas VIsions.
Hey there. Your cards are wonderful. I especially love the second card. What a great idea to use the Ziggie directly on the stamp. It has a beautiful effect.

Two wonderful cards Darnell, love ot when you can give a modern twist to something old! Carol x
Oh, that snowflake card is one dazzler, indeed! You used the perfect paper! The wheat card is just gorgeous! Truly dressed to the height of perfection!
I'm so far behind in commenting but when I saw your HM at Fusion I had to come and check out your wheat field. Not only did I see it in all it's fabulousness, I got to see a beautiful snowy card. I'm glad you're getting a few minutes now and then to let your creativity shine.
Fun photo of a happy Hammy! And thank you for taking the TIME OUT and join us with your super autumn card! I too like that way of stamping; quick and beautiful results... Hugs, Gerrina
Two gorgeous cards, Darnell. I really must reach for some patterned paper from time to time, it really can look so effective. And I love your sparkly, glossy wheat images, such lovely colours and a gorgeous CAS creation. And Hammie, LOVE!
Thanks so much for sharing at Muse and Less is More xx
Such beautiful cards.
CONGRATS on the MUSE Top 5. A well deserved shout-out with this beauty!

Love your use of DP for the Muse challenge. Always good to hear updates on your Mister and Hammy, too.
Darnell, both cards are fabulous! Your sparkling snowflake card is so festive and wintery. Love it! Thank you very much for sharing with us at ATCAS. - Ksenija, ATCAS DT P.S. I appreciate your wonderful comment to my Halloween card today ;)
What a great way to use that old paper Darnell! I think I have an entire forest of old dp sat in my stash...makes me feel guilty just looking at it. You're right - the modern snowflakes have made it new again Love the watercolour technique you did with the markers too...so pretty and soft!
I really don't know how things were before die cutting, but I can see that there were some gorgeous papers back in those days too. BTW, the sparkle is just beautiful and so are your new NBUS goodies. The colors in your second card look very intense and gorgeous. I was never lucky with my Distress and Tombow markers when coloring stamps, so I had high hopes for the Zig... still, you did a great job coloring :).
Sending healing thoughts to Mister.
P.S. - Hammy is the cutest thing!
I love the watercolor feel of the autumn card. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Blessings!
The sparkle is nice but I love that autumn one layer watercolour masterpiece. Hugz
Gorgeous cards, Darnell and I love the watercolour "spritz" technique you used on your card for our challenge! SO fresh and pretty! Hugs!
This must have been a therapy session for you as these 2 cards are both just fabulous & would you believe I have all the stamps & dies you used?! How funny is that?! I saw you received a well-deserved HM at Fusion--congrats!
Two BEAUTIFUL cards that make me smile!
Love your cards and still sending Hugs your way!!
Hurray!! Big congrats on your well-deserved win at The Challenge, Darnell!
It's a pleasure to come over and thank you for joining us at The Male Room with your lovely colouful card, see you again soon I hope.
Love all the sparkle on your beautiful snowflake card and the lovely autumn colours on the twofer!!!!
Hammy is really having a feast there, hey!!!!
Yippee - congrats on your win over at The Challenge Darnell - that one layer spritzed watercolouring is gorgeous!
Two absolutely gorgeous one-layered cards. Totally simplicious, as you call it ;)
If you were here, looking outside, you would see your card images happening in real life! The snowflakes are falling and with the glow from the streetlamps outside my window, they're shimmering most beautifully. I'm not ready for snow, but the scene - outside and on your card - is gorgeous! Your second card touches my heart: reminds me of spending time on my grandparents' farm and the gold fields of wheat at harvest...
