Let's Play Boo Boo on April Fool's Day!

Hey there! How are you?

I know, I'm sposed to be on a break, but the furballs and I were spinning our wheels and we got to talking. They help distract my mind from my medical tissues and we got to reminiscing ...

What happened was, three years ago my friend Suzanne of Freshly Noted ran a fun blog hop on April Fool's Day, entitled "Ugliest Card Ever." I immediately knew which card of mine to link and I thought it was a hoot of an idea!

After that first hop, Suzanne never ran the hop again and a couple of months ago, I asked her if I could hold the hop this year. She said sure, but she warned me that some people had hurt feelings because what one person thought was ugly, looked exactly like the style of someone else's awesome card. The eye of the beholder and all that. Poor Suzanne felt terrible because that was never her intent. She took down the gallery and never ran the hop again.

I explained all this to the hamsters and sadly we all agreed to just let it go.

A few days ago, a twist on Suzanne's idea presented itself. A twist we think everyone might like.

What happened was, I made a card for Easter. A perfectly nice card. I took my normal photos and it wasn't until I saw it on the monitor that I realized something was a rye.

And in a pretty funny, pretty embarrassing way.

When Hammy saw it, he gave me a sidelong glance. Like in the movies. The Mister had the same reaction, only he added an arched eyebrow. So I didn't post it.

But that got me thinking about a way we can have a fun hop to celebrate April Fool's Day without hurting anyone's feelers:

We can share OUR BIG FAT CARD BOO BOOS!!
If you have ever completed a card, and then discovered a boo boo that made you feel like an April Fool, this hop is for YOU!!
  • The linky tool for MY BIG FAT CARD BOO BOO is going to be open for 24 HOURS ONLY from 12:05 a.m. PDT on April 1, 2016 to 12:05 a.m. PDT on April 2, 2016.
  • You can only enter once and you must be a follower.
  • You CAN link a card that you have previously posted on your blog! (That's the whole point! We feel especially foolish when we don't see the boo boo until after we published or sent our cards!)
  • This is a blog HOP. While hopping to every blog is not an absolute requirement to enter, you should make every effort to hop through the gallery and visit your fellow boobs, er, boobooers! Share a laugh, be a good sport, and have a good time!
Just to be clear:

You should not link a card that you think is your ugliest.
Rather, you should link a card that you think is your boobiest!

You know, a card you made that passed through your Quality Control Speculations and went out the door with proverbial toilet paper hanging out of its pants!

For instance:
    • Maybe you generated your sediment on the computer and it said, "With Symphony" instead of "With Sympathy."
    • Maybe your die-cut vehicle only had three wheels,
    • or your reindeer one antler,
    • or your flower vase was upside down.

Are you in?

Rack your brains, paw through your photos, mangleate your memories and then circle your calendar to link your card here on April 1st!

Heck, even if you no longer have a photo, but you have a really funny story about the time you were a Card Boo Boo Fool, link up any ol' card just so you can tell us the story in your post!

Since this is only a one-day party,
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
PASS THE WORD TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS
about the event!
April 1, 2016!

After all, we don't want to be the only two
hanging in the breeze
with our boo boos on display
for all the world to see!!

Grab the badge and pass it on!
I can't wait to show you mine and I can't wait to see yours! (And you know I'm gonna have some kind of prize for the best Big Fat Card Boo Boo!!)

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

  2. Sounds like a lot of fun Darnell - trouble is I usually am so frugal that I salvage and re-use what I can of a boo boo! Will have to rack my brains - so glad you and the fur-babies came up with the idea

  3. Now I'm thinking of all the times I've photographed a card and then thought "Hang on, that doesn't look right" and realised there was a boo-boo - but I've deleted the photo and gone back to the card and fixed it. I'm sure if I furkle around in my files I'll find a pic I forgot to delete.

  8. What a fun idea. I know I've done a lot but I usually recycle and don't photograph. I'll have a good look. Barbxx

  9. Such a fabulous idea Darnell, I'd rather my boo boos and not my boobies hanging out!! xx

  10. Hah,sounds like fun! Poor Suzanne I remember that hop and played along. Not sure I have any evadance of the boo boo card left:)

  11. This sounds like so much fun but I can't really think of anything I might have a card or project that fits the bill. Not that I haven't had them or done something totally foolish but if it cannot be fixed, well... let's just say somedays the garbage can is very full!
If I can't find anything suitable, for sure I am coming to see what everyone is doing.

  12. This sounds like a lot of fun Darnell! I too, am quick to delete any cards that don't pass the quality control inspection but I'll look and see what I have. I have lots that could qualify in the "Ugliest Card" line-up. ;0) I'll be putting your badge on my side bar today.
Happy St. Patty's day to you, your hubby and hammies.

  13. Sounds like fun, but I delete every picture of cards I do not like.

  14. Sounds like the fluffies are doing a good job of distracting you from your worries. I'm sure I can find something lurking in the archives or I'll end up making a mess of something in the meantime - 12, count them 12 attempts to stamp a sentiment, still at least it was on a blank sheet of card or 3 in the end! 15. I totally make mistakes all the time! I really try not to hide that fact, lol, but at the moment I can't think of a card that had a big fat boo boo that I still have a photo of. One time I did put the card front on backwards so it was a left handed card.. I will try to think of something...

  16. Sounds like great fun Darnell! I usually blog my boo boo's anyway, I think it give newcomers to card making hope, if they see everyone makes boo boo's. I know that, when I first started out, if some of the card makers I idolised (and still do) showed their boo boo's, I wouldn't have stressed quite so much over my own! I will dig around. Have a relaxing blog break my friend! Hazel xx

  18. Oh, man, I just had to redo a card, actually a fairly recent one too because of a blunder...fool that I am!! I don't think I took a picture of it...wait, maybe part of it is in the trash!! Great idea Darnell...we can certainly count on you and hammy to come up with the unique reason to have a party!! Will try to play along!! Hope you are getting answers for your health issues!!

  19. Geez, have I ever made a card with a boo-boo? What do you think? Those fluffy friends of yours sure have great ideas...this is one of the better ones. And especially on April Fool's Day.

  20. Brilliant idea!! but oh how to choose just one LOL I just posted a link to my blog. Will keep it up til April Fools Day. Thanks for all the fun! : )

  21. What a fun idea!! Sadly, I don't think I've saved my boo-boo cards...they pretty much dive into the trash can on their own :( I'll dig through my stash anyway and see what I can find...I've made so many boo-boo cards over the years, one intrepid one might have just stuck around ;) Happy St. Patty's Day!! Have a great day!! Big hugs :)

  23. Oh my gosh Darnell, you had me in stitches, LOL, rolling on the floor, seriously!!!!!
My dear, I have a little box I keep on the shelves next to my work desk where I put the "misfits" of my encounters with ink, paper and stamps. I always say: "ok, I will fix this later" but kind of never get around to do it so this cards sit there, patiently waiting for a chance to get their picture taken and shared.
I think this is a hoot of an idea, I can't wait to see your boo boo card.
It's not about ugly cards, heck!! hand made cards are NEVER ugly, this cards just have mistakes, to much embossing powder, to much ink, wonky alignments, not so nice combination of colors, etc.
I'm going to go check this box, pick one of this cards and write my blog post to have it ready for April first.
I'm so glad my computer is back from the hospital, where she had a face lift, but lift, liposuction, etc. now it's working better than ever, woo hoo!!
Thank you for the laugh, I needed it really bad right about now.
    Big Hugs,

    Maria Rodriguez.

  24. Can we submit a card that was entered previously? I have no hamsters to ask.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Not sure I have any that will work as usually I try to hide the boo boo or redo it. But if I run across something I will certainly add it into the fun!

  26. I have one such a gem, what the truth is on my blog, but I will be happy to show it to a wider audience;-) Another great fun with you Darnell thanks :-)

  27. Hmmm, I know that I've had some major boo boos, but have usually realized it (sometimes after the photo was taken and even after it was posted!) and then corrected it. I'll have to go through my photos and see if I saved any of the pre-corrected versions, or if I have saved some of those crazy mistakes in my stash! Otherwise, I may have to just tell the tale...ha! I can't wait to see yours Darnell!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I normally correct them or toss them. Will have to see if there I have one. Such fun!

    ReplyDelete
  29. HAHA - Hilarious! I have, what, two weeks? Should be plenty of time to come up with another since I delete all of those too! Great thought - enjoy the REST of your time on break!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sounds fun! I am sure I will make a boo boo between now and then, I usually delete them or throw before I photograph. xxx

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is such a fun idea Darnell, well done for thinking it up! I too, delete my boo boos but if I can, I will try to find something...... Hugs, Annie xxx

  33. What a great idea! I hope to find one of my cards with a Fat Boo Boo and play with. :-)

  34. This is a great idea Darnell and I did make an Australian card a little while ago but I took it apart and put the piece on a new base card and photographed the revamped card, but should something of this nature occur before April Fools day I will definitely save it.

  35. Sounds like a fun challenge, Darnell. I'll have to give it some thought and look through my stash of cards. I'm sure there are plenty there that would qualify.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You are a hoot, Darnell! I can see by your short-lived 'break' the wheels are always turning (yours and the furballs). I'll bet I can come up with something that qualifies :o)
PS: Please stop by my blog and read about a new Challenge coming soon

  38. I think everyone who read this post went "ughhhh" in their mind and pictured *that one* card... Haha, I'm in, as long as I can find a pic!

  42. What a fun idea, Darnell! I have to admit though, that I'm usually able to remove the offense with editing. You should see some of my card IRL!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm glad Suzanne warned you about the possible outcome. I know how sensitive hamsters can get. ;) Your new version of a hop sounds like fun but I'm with so many other card makers. I fix my booboos, or trash them, without photos. There's time before April 1 to make a mistake or three so I'll be sure and take a picture.

    ReplyDelete
  44. And I actually made a boo-boo today - I was a very good girl and grabbed the phone to take a snap before I dismembered my card and started again

  46. Crying with laughter here 'cos I know what your boo-boo card is. OMG, eyebrows will be raised and also some nervous flicking back of the hair with sidelong looks :) BAD girl :)) Ha! Unless they don't even geddit of course!!

  47. This sounds like fun... I had entered the "Ugly" card challenge. And some people did say to me that they "Liked" my card. I wondered if they were just being kind...or if "as you said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder..." smile.

I don't usually keep the photo's of boo boo's but I'm sure I would have a collection of photos if I did.

Like the cards I made that opened from the left side and NOT the right side!

Or like the card I just made yesterday. After I was finished the card I realized that I had a big blob of black ink on my card that I had NOT intended to be there.

Or my wrinkly cards when I spilled my water glass on the table...(I do try to remember to use only containers now with LIDS fastened on my crafting table). I could go on and on. I'm sure with considering my past record...I will have a card to post in this blog hop.. Smile.

Now, It's time for you to REST!!!!!!!
    Until this card hop!!!!!

Please take care of yourself, my friend.
    Blessings, Jill

  50. Sounds fun to me. Maybe 'show us your boobs' would have been too risk hay and got you lots of strange traffic. But it springs to mind. Will try and find something. It might even be something unpublished. After all, I do try to fix my boobs before showing them in public. Going to add your blinky to my blog sidebar. You already commented on my cock, but I feel he may have been a good fools day contribution with his edgy definition http://craftynomad.blogspot.no/2016/03/r-is-for-rooster.html Hugz

  53. Haha.... sounds like fun, I am sure I have a lot of ugly cards, as in terms of the booboo card, I usually put something over to cover it, LOL! BUT.... I might still have some as I have a tons of those, let me search!

  54. How fun, Darnell ... you and the hamsters are so creative ... even when you're having a break! Will have a hunt through my pics ... not sure what I'll find in the way of boo boos! Hugs & bisous, my sweet friend ... miss you! Anita :)

  56. Yet again, Darnell, your hop sounds like lots of fun! You & the hamsters are all SO creative! Seems as if all my cards have elements I would change, which may be my usual being too hard on myself. I may submit a pic of my current card, since before it's even finished I can think of one part I'm wishing I had re-done. It should be done by Friday.
