Hello! Hello!
How are you? I hope this finds you doing great!
I'm sorry I haven't posted for almost a week and thank you for your inkuiries. I did manage a coupla cards, so let's start with my onefer:
How are you? I hope this finds you doing great!
I'm sorry I haven't posted for almost a week and thank you for your inkuiries. I did manage a coupla cards, so let's start with my onefer:
These Altenew magnolia flowers were started a while back, so all that was needed was some "finish" watercoloring (which I always overdo!) and then some fussy cutting and mounting. And, of course, winking. The sediment is from Waltzingmouse's "Compact Sentiments."
Challenges
- Inspired by All the Little Things: Photo inspiration.
- Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Show us your metal.
- Time Out Challenge: Celebration with the twist of fussy-cutting.
My twofer:
This retro card was sparked by Mrs. A's Butterfly Challenge, which I've been neglecting lately. The current challenge is a butterfly, of course, plus we are to include texture and/or teal.
For texture, I heat-embossed the butterfly image (SU) in white and then I watercolored her using my Zig KGT paints in shades of teal. Next I did a watercolor wash of the background. The lace edging (SU punch) mimics the butterfly wing. The twine and butterfly charm are from my stash. The sediment, part of which is NBUS, is from Uniko's "Classic Numbers" stamp set.
Challenges
- Addicted to Stamps and More: Anything goes.
- Butterfly Challenge: T is for texture and/or teal.
- CAS on Sunday: Tic-Tac-Toe. Top row across: punch, girlie, floral.
- Creative With Stamps (CWS) Challenge: Butterfly. Their first challenge!
- Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything goes.
- Uniko Challenge: Use metallics.
So, What's The Dealio?
Where have I been? I could tease you, but sad to say, I've been mostly in bed since Saturday. After much dithering about with medical tests of this sort and that, a course of action was decided to increase one of my medications in the hopes it would calm things down. That's all well and good for the basic intent of it, but I have been hit hard by one of the side effects, which is extreme fahteeg. I mean I am exhaustipated to the max, Jax.
I am hoping this will simply be a matter of a few days or a week or two during which my system will adjust to the change and I'll be back to myself. The hardest part, besides not posting and visiting you as much as I'd like, is the lack of mojo and seeing six dejected and wound-up hamsters staring at me. For all our sakes, Hammy and I have decided the time has come to adopt out the furballs. Some of you have made requests over the past several months, so I will try and remember who you are!
Thank you for understanding and being patient with me. Be well and enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by and I'll return the flavor as soon as I'm able.

Great cards - even if Mr Mojo has gone (wish I could make schtuff like this with mojo absentio)
ReplyDeleteGet well soon. xx
Darnell, I hope you're feeling better by now and have the zing and energy to keep on creating more wonderful stuff. Both cards are great but my favourite is Mr Teal Butterfly. Love the techniques you've used to create a fly-off-the-page beauty.
ReplyDeleteOh my Darnell. I hope that your body gets adjusted to the medication quickly. That is simply no fun at all.
ReplyDeletelove, love, love your beautiful cards as always!
Beautiful cards Darnell ... The magnolias are stunning! Sorry you are under the weather (or Duvet)... I know what it's like to have that exhaustion... something that comes as a side affect to my eczema. Get well soon and take care!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, My mum would have loved the Magnolia card. She always wanted a Magnolia, but dad said the soil wasn't right for them.
ReplyDeleteThe butterfly one is just beautiful.
Sending you heaps of positive energy and hugs (((Darnell))). Hope you adjust to the new dose soon.
Take care
Sue

Beautiful cards Darnell! SO sorry to hear you haven't been feeling too chipper...changes in medications can be a real pain sometimes! Hope it evens out for you and you're back to your fun and lively self soon! And just so you know, I'm NOT one of the ones who said I'd take a furball...been there, done that! Our 2 30lb. furballs are quite enough excitement around here as it is!! :0) Take care my friend!!
ReplyDeletefanged ol side affects...hope they disparate quickly. Love the cards!
ReplyDeleteTwo beauties Darnell and I love that pretty pink watercoloured Magnolia and then that equally pretty blue butterfly again with great watercolouring. I thought you had been a bit quiet recently but so sorry your change of dose of medication has had this effect on you and hope that this exhaustion soon passes. Take care! x
ReplyDeleteDarnell, damnit! Why isn't life sunshine and roses all the time? I'll be thinking about you. The mojo that you found was put to good use: love the pink flowers-- such a nice bday card! & that butterfly almost has amosaic-thing going on as a result of the emboss-resist. Hugs ooo

Beautiful cards Darnell! So sorry to hear you've not been well but you still managed some cards AND a post to make us all smile! Aren't you a gem! Wishing you a speedy recovery xx
ReplyDeleteWhile your projects are beautiful and happy, I'm guessing not so much recently at your house. Though you couldn't tell it by the cards. So sorry the change in medication is wearing on you. I hate that and apparently you're not pleased as punch about it, either. Surely, it's temporary and will even out in the long run.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have one of your furballs but I have a jealous dog and a predatory cat...who would probably think it's a gift. No, not safe at this house for sweet and adorable hamsters.
Wishing you a quick road to recovery. Hugs and Hearts!
Two gorgeous cards Darnell, really hope you feel better soon..

Beautiful cards, can't decide if I have a favourite between them, both too yummy for words. Sorry to hear that you're wiped out at the moment, I know that one! Hopefully when you adjust to the higher dosage the fatigue will ease off. I hope the change in meds gives you some relief from your condition too. Take care and tell those hammies to keep the noise down! Cara x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better soon and get your mojo back :)
Oh Darnell, I should have known... it's unusual not posting for almost a week. I hope you feel much better soon, something similar happened to me a few weeks ago. You and Hammy are both wise and I trust you to take the right decision about the furballs.
ReplyDeleteGood to see that you have, at least, some of your mojo back and created two gorgeous cards. Btw, I recently purchased a few butterflies among other metal charms, and they are very similar to yours.
So very sorry to hear about your fatigue. That is not good at all. Hope all is right as rain before too long. Love the two beauties you posted today. Hope that they are signs of things to come. Thanks so much for playing along at Time Out. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI would be happy to take the fur balls over here until you feel better dear Darnell! So sorry you are feeling so awful... Your cards today are really wonderful, I especially love the butterfly one - I hope it means that Mr Mojo is back to full strength soon too. Big healing hugs, Annie xxx
ReplyDeleteOh shucks!! I'm so sorry to hear you are under the weather : ( Your beautiful cards do not indicate you've struggled!!
ReplyDeleteSending great big (((((HUGS))))) and praying that you feel 100% in no time!!
Patti
Wow Darnell, those are two gorgeous cards! The colors on the magnolia card just pop and I love the little butterfly charm you added to both designs. Your textured butterfly card though, is absolutely awe-inspiring. I'll have to remember to use white embossing with watercolors because the effect is just breath-taking.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear you've been under the weather and hope that the side effects of your meds even out soon. It's frustrating to feel almost worse during treatment as you did before. Hugs to you and take your time healing. We'll all still be around!
The flowers and butterfly are both stunning! I love them both! I am sorry you are feeling poorly though - I really hope the side effects wear off soon and your energy comes bounding back! Take care! xxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteCertainly a dynamic duo. Those glorious magnolias just about leap off the page.
Oooh, you poor thing. Hope you're feeling yourself again soon (in a non rude sense lol!)
Must admit, tired eyes did misread your "fahteeg" and thought you had a problem with wind lol!
Get well soon.

Hmmm, two very summery cards today. You must be having better weather than we are. It's cold (down into the 30s at night) and rainy here. Your pretty cards definitely brightened my day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Darnell especially the blue butterfly one! So sorry to hear you hare exhaustipated - that is the worst:-( Do hope it passes soon, (pardon the terrible pun).

Such pretty cards...love the pretty pink and the butterfly card is awesome!! Glad to see you got a little creating time in...sorry about the meds, I wonder who invented the 'golden' years, as sometimes they just aren't too golden!!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell,
ReplyDeletesorry to hear you have not been A1.
I do hope your meds soon improve how you feel.
I take blood pressure meds which make me very tired, and if I stop doing things and sit down I fall asleep.
I hate feeling that way, but the previous ones had even worse side affects so I suppose they are the better of the 2.
My DH has a similar problem with his meds too.
Love your 2 super designed cards.
The one with the wonderful Magnolia on is fantastic, and the Butterfly one has such lovely colours on the Butterfly, and your background looks wonderful too.
We do as bloggers worry about not being able to visit so often, but I think we all understand that there are times when we can't.
Love and biggest hugs from my house to yours.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Both cards are lovely. I think the little metallic butterfly is just lovely. Thanks so much for playing along with Uniko this month. Deborah, DT.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Your cards are very beautiful, love the effect in the bottom one. I hope you can get through this rough patch soon. Take good care, Big Hugs, Shirleyxx
ReplyDeleteMy Mom used to say "Don't go to doctors. They'll kill you." and she felt the same about medicine. This coming from a doctor's wife makes is all the funnier. But then I hear all the side affect warnings on TV and think she's right. I praying you get yours straightened around and are back to normal soon, Darnell. I'm so far behind on commenting that I didn't notice you've been gone. Shame on me. You still have some mojo left because your cards are lovely. I'm glad those magnolias were easy to fussy cut and your butterfly with matching lace edge is sensational, as the sentiment says.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell! Once again I'm amazed by your creations! Really beautiful! Thank you for joining us at CWS challenge.
ReplyDeleteHugs

That eyelet border is the perfect accent for your pretty butterfly. I love what you've done with the background. Sweet cards. Sweet you. Take care honeygirl. Bev
ReplyDeleteWow, both cards are stunning Auntie!! I love how you watercolors those blooms, beautiful! And so is that butterfly card! The butterfly is so beautiful and I am so loving the color combo on this card as well. Oh Auntie, I so know of this fatigue you talk of. You go to bed tired and wake up tired. Just isn't fun at all. I have many days like that and it just makes me feel so lazy but I can't help it. I hope your body adjusts to the upped meds soon. BIG HUGS, Brenda

Hi Darnell :) Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving me a lovely comment. Congratulations on your win at CAS(E)!! p.s. your 'playhouse' is utterly adorable! It looks tiny on the outside but very spacious on the inside... a bit like the tardis!
ReplyDeleteOh my friend, I was afraid of that being the case when you weren't around. I hope your system gets used to increase soon and you are back on your feet. I'm sad about the adoption as it's hard to break up a family. I wish I could take one but Molly may not be up to that. I hope you find loving homes for them and give Hammy extra love to soften the blow. Seriously, you're in my prayers and I hope this fatigue ends soon and you're up and at em'. Plus I also hope that the increase helps you. I'm glad you were able to finish these flowers and make the card. It is lovely.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, Darnell, I do hope those side effects have eased by now ... and that you're feeling bright and perky and full of energy once again.
