Greetings!
It's happy weekend time! The hamsters are back and filled with unrequited creativity. I did my best to let them requite themselves. Whoa, wait a sec. The word "requite" was not underlined as misspelled by Mr. Blogger spellchecker, which surprised me because I thought I made it up. What? I'm off to ask Daniel Webster what it means ...
Okay, so those of you who thought it meant to be quite all over again, you would be wrong. It means: a) return (a favor); b) repay or reciprocate (a service or wrongdoing); and c) respond (to love or affection). Obviously, when Dan W. was thinking up the meanings of requite, he only had the use of words that began with the letter r! I wonder if that made him feel unrequited?
Turning now to the reason you stopped, my onefer:
This adorable little guy has cold ears, in spite of his stylish stocking cap with ear flaps. He is made by Stampendous. I watercolored him and his ornament bauble with Ziggies. I used some white paint and a stamp from SU to make the snowflakes. The sticker snowflake is from my stash and the gold-embossed ornament holder is a NBUS stamp from Avery Elle's "Merry & Bright."
The fishtail banner is a panel covered with a piece of Washi tape and then die cut. The consensus was to stop at that point and not add a sediment, but I think I will override the consensus and add one on the Washi banner. I know you can imagine it.
This card is in honor of the 200th challenge happening over at Merry Monday Christmas Challenge!! Congratulations to Lesley and her Team and all the wonderful Guest Designers! Cheers to the next 200! This challenge has inspired many a Christmas card in the Playhouse!
Here is the Inspiration Board we were given. I chose the top two squares.
My second card was sparked by the Muse: Christmas Visions challenge where my friend Chriss Blagrave is the Muse.
First of all, I love this classic design. I also and especially love that Chriss used her Christmas pp front and center, so I hopped right on that. I copied followed the rest of her design elements because, Shuckz, why mess with perfection?! I hope you get a chance to join in the fun!
I'm also racing over to Pixie's Snippets Playground before the gate closes. I seem to be making a bad habit of being a straggler there and I may have to sit on the naughty step. I hope one of the dearies slips me some hooch to warm my hackles.

And where does Springtime come into play today?
Well, spring is on display over at another fun blog: a photo blog challenge called Our Beautiful World. I couldn't decide which photo to use so I made a collage of everything on springtime display in our backyard right now.

My second card was sparked by the Muse: Christmas Visions challenge where my friend Chriss Blagrave is the Muse.
My pp is from SU, the NBUS sediment is from Stamping All Day, the holly die is from Penny Black. The label dies are also NBUS and I got them free with the We R Memory Keepers Genius cutting platform.
It's too hard to see in the photo, but I made three die cuts (in the pp, and using black and white snippets) in order to inlay the focus pocus label sediment into the pp. I did it that way so I could join in the Addicted to CAS challenge (inlaid dies), but I see that they have closed the linky door right in my slow-pokey face. On the other hand (thank you, Carol), I'm not too late to enter both of these cards in the Happy Little Stampers April Christmas Challenge, which is die cuts!

For now, Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!

Hi Dolly. So weird to be the first to comment. I'm woefully behind on my commenting, so started at the more recent and there you were with two fantastic Christmas cards. :) Love that adorable snowman ... so cute as part of a bauble. Love the design and can imagine a sentiment on that sweet washi tape banner. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd great job CASEing Chriss's Christmas card with the patterned paper. Love the design and great job with the inlaid labels.
Thanks for your visit over at my blog. We did get to see Mama Mia in Vancouver last weekend. Had a fun time ... the music was so awesome. I'm still humming the tunes every day. :) Then out for a lovely seafood dinner. It was a wonderful day spent with hubby, Jer and Alex. :) Hope you and Mister are both doing well and feeling good. Lolly xx
ARE his ears cold? Or is he trying to drown out the sounds of the rehearsals of the Hamster Christmas Chorus? I think we should be told....
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are gorgeous and your spring flowers look amazing - a far cry from an English spring
Jane
What a darling snowman he needs a pair of ear muffs. Gorgeous flowers on display in your yard. It is devastation in mine with the drought we are experiencing. They forecast late afternoon rain here today but at nearly 5pm the sun is still shining and it will be dark in another hour.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Margaret M
Such a sweet little snowman and whatever he's doing with his ears he looks happy!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful such a lovely array of colour
Anne
Hi Darnell, Loving the cards and the collage.
ReplyDeleteI think requite comes in books of the type Jane Austin wrote, as in requited love.
Hope you have a lovely weekend. Sue
Wonderful cards Darnell - I think the wee snowman is trying to keep his hat ton!
ReplyDeleteLoving your snippets card, a lovely design and clever to inlay the panels as you did.
And it's great to see you in the Snippets Playground!
Hugs
Di xx
That's snowman is so super cute. You are doing well on the Christmas cards. I had a good start but have fallen behind again..... I think I out to pop over to Muse Chrstmas Visions to have a look - that is some funky paper! Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info in requite... Never paid much attention to that word!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a cute snowman, and your watercolored ornament looks great... But wth is he doing with his ears? :-) Stampendous owes us answers!
Great xmas case.
Beautiful flowers in your yard! Yay!
Stunning cards as ever I think a sentiment rather than a sediment would work well on the fishtail! Your second card would fit in with the 52 Christmas card throwdown challenge that started today, Christmas foliage. Glad to heR you have the hamsters under control for once! Cara x
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pair of cards Darnell. Love that cute snowman with the funny smile on his face. I think he just heard one of your risque jokes and is covering his ears. You just forgot to add his blushing cheeks! Your second card is so stylish and would fit beautifully into the current Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge for die cuts too!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the Hammies are back home.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs
Carol x
Thanks for the explanation of "requite", infact I thought that it would mean be quite again... :D
ReplyDeleteLovely both your creations, and the supercute snowman made me smile with his cold ears... :) Fabulous snowy layers, too!
Happy weekend!
Hi Darnell - it's been a while since I stopped by (busy with house move) but I'm getting back into blogland. Your little snowman pulled me in with his cute expression. Cold ears indeed! :) And your MUSE card is just gorgeous - love holly! Love the spring photos too - looks like spring's finally arrived here in Northville! Yea!! Hugs, xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, it's always a pleasure to stop by here, especially when your blog visitors are jumping into the conversation. Reading their contributions is just as much fun as reading your post that triggered their reactions. Thanks for reminding me of the 2 challenges that I wanted to play along with this wekend. I'd better use my crafty time wisely this weekend if I want to link up in time. I tend to be late, if not too late lol.
ReplyDeleteHope your health issues are all under control. Things are definitely on the mend here, although DH's bowels may take a few more months to be fully back to normal, so we haven't been out for a meal yet and are not venturing too far or too long away from home.
Marianne x
Ha! I also missed the Addicted to CAS deadline today! I must get better at reading those deadlines! Love your pretty patterned paper and that elegant die cut! So glad you joined us at MCV this week!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards!! Love that snowman. Love your collage of flowers
ReplyDeleteOhhh that snowman is so cute and adorable. Such a beautiful card. The holly one is so perfect and the cutest of small holly on the background too x
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards Darnell and your snowman looks great sat on that circular bauble and pretty painted snow in the background and perfect complementary turquoise embellishments too. Your Muse offering is a beautiful CASEing of Chriss's lovely card and I adore that pp and the inlaid embellished sentiment plate works beautifully. Congratulations for being one of the favourites last week too with another fabulous snowman. I wish my back yard looked as wonderful as yours but there is still the occasional frost at night here so no summer bedding yet - probably need to wait until towards the end of May. x
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Darnell! Those hamsters done good! Love your snowman and his cold ears! I am so happy you played along with us!!! Thank you! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou're right Darnell, that snowman is super adorable!! I love that he is still smiling, even if his ears are cold! Your second card is a great CASE of the inspiration card too! Have a wonderful weekend! Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteMy Card Attic
Darling cards Darnell, that is the sweetest snowman, and your garden is delightful. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteLoveeeeeeeee these! That snowman is ADORABLE!
ReplyDeleteThese are so fantastic! Love the festive design!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww...LOVE your sweet little snowman and his cold ears Darnell! He is just too cute and you water colored him just beautifully! And I think a sediment on the washi tape would look fantastic! Love your DSP Christmas card too...I have got SOOOO much DSP and really need to make a point of using it or get rid of it....nah, can't imagine getting rid of it, so I guess I better get using it! And I'm jealous of all the beautiful color in your backyard...Spring has just started this week in West Michigan and I am patiently (ok, not so patiently!!) waiting for my Daffodils to bloom! Maybe this weekend?!! Hope you and the Mister are both doing well. Take care my friend!! :0)
ReplyDeleteYour chilly snowman is just darling, Darnell. Wait until you see my card for Christmas Muse. It looks a lot like yours. ;) Great minds, huh?
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, I love your cards, especially the cute snowman, I just adore snowmen, great colours and design and your berry card is beautiful, real traditional feel to it.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the link to the Bald Eagle video, wonderful to watch. Alistair was walking past the swans today and they are still sitting on the nest, we will keep popping down to see when they hatch.
Enjoy your weekend, Kate x
Hugs to you, Darnell. Wonderful take on Chriss' card ... it is so festive.
ReplyDeleteA snowman with cold ears! giggles! Your cards are spectacular! as always!!
ReplyDeletePatti
LOVING those pictures of the beauty in your world!! We are still surrounded with brown icky grass but hopeful - ever hopeful! LOL
Have a wonderful weekend.
Patti
Do you find it as difficult as I do to come up with Christmas Cards when it's so beautiful outside? With absent mojo, I really struggled with Merry Monday this week, until yesterday when the wind was blowing with hurricane force. Yes, I exaggerate but that's how it felt while I was trying to dead head the roses and peonies. Anyway, saw that adorable snowman over at MM and fell in seriously like. So darn cute I want to pinch his cheeks but I'd probably come away with a drippy hand. Love both these cards (aren't you clever to use the patterned paper and a freebie die). Take care...be well.
ReplyDeletepretty Christmas cards, so your are ready with christmas cards until december :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for me to make them now in springtime! Beautiful flower collection.
Oh, I love all 3 of your beautiful cards Darnell. I especially love that adorable snowman and I agree with the consensus that you should add a sentiment on the banner. TFS
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Your Christmas cards are so beautiful. I love the sweet little snowman image too. Thanks for inspiring me. I don't know if I will get my cards all done as I will have a lot of preparation to do for Christmas with all the company I will be having. I should have started on mine a long, long time ago. I may go simple this year in my card making.
ReplyDeleteIt was fascinating learning about 'requite', I never knew that so thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHe is such a darling little snowman and your card is beautiful. I love the second card, I guess I just like traditional - it was a great CASE too!
The collage of the flowers/plants is so beautiful, our garden is just beginning to show signs of Spring but nowhere as much colour as you have!
Hugs, Annie xx
Oh my goodness, I am so loving your little snowman and the ornament! He is adorable and you have color him up and the ornament up so pretty too. Love your take on Chriss's card as well. The inlaid dies look fabulous and even more fabulous that they were a NBUS and free! I always love a little freebie. Loving the spring in your backyard, so gorgeous. We are looking very springy around here as well. No purty flowers from me though. I need to plant me some bulbs as I had a sweet hubby who would spray my flowers....and I don't always think it was by accident either. lol If there was a flower he didn't like, it disappeared! lol So back to the drawing board for me. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteLovely holiday cards, so smart to start making them now, I better hurry up!
ReplyDeleteI love your spring bloom collage too, pretty! Thanks for sharing with us at Our Beautiful WOrld!
Fabulous selection of cards and a wonderful post, as always. Some fabulous papers and lovely sentiments and love the snowman.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week Darnell.
Kath x
Love that little snowman with his cold ears in spite of that sweet warm hat. He's so cute, and yes, I can imagine a sentiment on that washi tape banner. Love this color combination too. This card is a knockout. Love it. And I'm fully and totally in love with your CASE of Chriss' card. Your inlaid dies against that dp is gorgeous, and I LOVE those holly and its berries. Darn wonderful card. Thanks for your sweet words too, on my blog. You always say the nicest things. And speaking of a couple of winners..... these most definitely are! Miss you like crazy. Bev
ReplyDeleteSo much to love on your post today Darnell...you wonderful Christmas cards, your girlfriends card and especially your flower pictures. TFS all my friend:-)
ReplyDeleteLove both the cards! Your snowman is so cute with his cold ears in spite of that lovely warm hat! The embossed snow looks cool too (excuse the pun!). The second one is so pretty, holly is so beautiful! So is your garden collage, absolutely gorgeous - so much colour! xxx
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely cards Darnell. I love the little snowman with the cold ears. He really is adorable. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteCute little snowman - I'm not sure if he's covering his ears because of the cold or maybe just doesn't want to hear the sound of more snow and cold weather on the way. No matter though, because he's a cutie - and I love your card. In fact, love both of them!
ReplyDeleteLynn
Pick a pair of purty cards and you'll find yourself here in the playhouse! I love that adorable snowman on the first, and who wouldn't love the pretty holly papers on the 2nd? Great cards, both of them!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see that Spring has sprung at your house, does that mean that the hummingbirds will be around soon?? Love your sweet little snowman and all that soft blue is gorgeous. And your copied, I mean inspired card for the Muse Challenge has the prettiest paper. This reminds me that I still need to be making more Xmas cards so I don't get caught short again this Xmas!! I was thinking of the Mister the other day too, hope he is all better!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, that wee snowman on the bauble, oh my, what a cutie! Love, love, LOVE that gorgeous card. Love the embossed background and perfect CAS styling. Fabulous card in every way. The other two cards are fab too, with their joyful bright and cheery papers. The diecut Holly sprig is fab and so is the lovely pink poinsettia. CAS perfection! Hugs, Wends x
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your Christmas cards! The snowman is my favorite. The colors are beautiful together. I will try to make something similar one day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards!
ReplyDeleteThese 2 cards are great. I love the snowman...he's so. Ute and well constructed. The other is so pretty and colourful
ReplyDeleteYour backyard is looking beautiful--love all the colors! I'm about to have roses--pretty early for this far north! The snowman card truly warms my heart--just darling! Your shading with the Zigs has inspired me! Love the second card, too, & need to use that design so I can get some of my designer paper onto cards! Enjoy your Sunday, Darnell--we're expecting 2 days of summer in April!
ReplyDeleteAwesome image for the snowman Darnell, sooooo cute! Thanks for helping us celebrate our 200th challenge at Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing in Our Beautiful World. AriadnefromGreece!
ReplyDeleteYour backyard flowers are so beautiful, a real treat Darnell. Love your Christmas cards too, the snowman is so cute in the Christmas bauble, and the other card has a wonderful PP and great design.
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs
Maarit
Lol, I love that you couldn't choose which Spring photo to share, because now we have a beautiful photo collage to look at :) Thank you for joining OBW! And your cards are wonderful, that first one is sooooo sweet!
ReplyDeleteThis snowman is ADORABLE, Darnell! I don't think he'll suffer from unrequited love! I love how you've placed him on an ornament and your "snowy" embossed background! Pretty holly card too! Perfect paper! Thanks so much for joining our celebration at Merry Monday!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Darnell and I like them all.
ReplyDeleteLove the snowman one and how the brilliant blue is such a gorgeous contrast against the white. Very striking.
Awwww, that snowman is the cutest! Totally cuddle-worthy!
ReplyDeleteThe second card shows a great way to use that pretty PP that we all have stashed away!
Fabulous card Darnell, I am loving that adorable snowman. Thank you for joining us for Merry Monday 200th Challenge.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell,
ReplyDeletewhat super designed cards as usual.
The snowman is sure a cutie, and what a wonderful idea the stamped paint.
Must try that sometime.
Your holly and berries card is also very super too.
Love and biggest hugs from my house to yours.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Your back yard looks amazing. I usually grow my own veg but have not been inspired to this year. Decided I want flowers but at the moment it is a mess...our backyard is a tiny terrace, you don't get much outdoor space in a London flat, if any! Love the Xmas cards, great watercolouring and fun to see the DSP. Have a fun week ahead and take care xx
ReplyDeleteLove the washi tape banner and adore the sweet little snowman. I'm guessing that he is a Canadian snowman and knows the quite often a toque alone WILL NOT keep his ears warm! Awesome 'painted' snowflakes and cool snowflake sticker!
ReplyDeleteADORE your second card! The paper is divine, but it's your perfect blend of the sentiment, the layered label die and the holly berry collection that rocks this card!
Your springtime display is gorgeous! Can hardly wait to start planting my summer plant pots!
Darnell, that little snowman is as cute as can be. Thanks for joining us on our Merry Monday 200th Challenge. And congrats also on the Muse CV win.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteAnother dynamic duo. Love the holly papers and your cute snowman.
Best wishes.
Ang x
Darnell two fabulous designs! I just love the way you watercoloured your bauble and the gold embossed hook is such a perfect finish! Love card two for Muse, the holly die is so delicate and your patterned paper is lovely. Thank you for sharing at Muse this week!
ReplyDeleteI don't see how anyone can keep up with you!! I adore your snowman card and the colors are perfect! Thank you for coming to visit me Sugar. You are so busy, I don't see how you have the time!
ReplyDeleteSandy xx
Darnell... Love the upgrades! Love the holly die cut! Love the label setting! Love how you pulled everything together with your background paper... super nice!
ReplyDeleteTerrific Christmas cards Darnell!! Love that sweet little snowman!!
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over your excellent zig skills, cause this little Snowy's hat just is perfect. A really cute little fella, and I liked the tiny paint snowflakes too, with the turquoise background. Had fun with the requited stuff. You better watchit if those Hamsters start requiting...just in case you don't awready know that! Loved the washi fishtail, and I think it will be fine, with or without a sentiment. Ask Hammy...he will know. Also loving the dp on the holly tag. And of course I love the bold colored holly die trim. Great way to showcase this pretty die, and you've colored it pretty too. (think I have this one). Happy upcoming week, and I expect you're busy with all kinds of plans, and travel. So have fun! Big hugs & TFS
ReplyDeleteOh it is so difficult for me to get into Christmas cards, really difficult. But I can appreciate those of everyone else. Die cuttting washi tape - I like it. Don't you love the flowers in our yards. :)
ReplyDeleteLove that snowman, Darnell!! He is so cute. Great job coloring too. I love both of these cards. Glad to see you back posting, too!
ReplyDeleteI love both these Christmas cards! And I think your sentiment will look perfect on that washi banner. I was glad to see some pretty Christmas DSP take center stage. Sometimes I wonder why I don't do more of that. Some of the papers are gorgeous...or just so festive...that they SHOULD have a starring role!
ReplyDeleteAdorable card,Darnell,Love your embossed panel's and love that striped stripe and the snowman is such adorable...Hugs...Željka
ReplyDeleteJust knew this little snowman would be a hit...covering his ears must have done it. Congrats on the MM HR.
ReplyDeleteLove both your cards. That little snowman is just too adorable! I would probably cut him right out and hang the ornament on my tree.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for dropping by with lovely comments. Congratulations on your MM Honourable mention. Your snowman is adorable, I just love the colours you used. Happy stamping.
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by my blog, Darnell, it's always lovely seeing your comments. Congrats on your HM for your snowman card - it's beautiful and well-deserving!
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely!! Your flowers are so pretty and I am jealous!! I cannot plant a thing yet as the Northeast always has a hard frost in April.
ReplyDeleteI love the stamp on your first card. You did a fabulous job coloring it in. I also like how you mounted it on the ornament. The second card ROCKS!! I should be doing this challenge in that I have a plethora of both Christmas paper and stamps that I rarely use. I always love everyones creations, buy the stuff and then it sits there. I might have to crack it out!! Thank you for the inspiration!!
Fabulous Darnell! Love both your cards! I LOVE that PB holly and own it too. So fun!
ReplyDeleteSweet makes Darnell and snowmen are always fun to colour
ReplyDeleteHugs Nikki
Sweet cards! Love that Mr Snowman has cold ears....he should or they would be gone, right? Your Muse card is also pretty. LOVING your backyard blooms! Plenty of color here too, but my yard is SO BIG that it's well spread out...
ReplyDeleteLove your cards, Darnell! The snowman is so cute, and I love the patterned paper on the second one. So weird to see Christmas cards when it's nearly 80 degrees outside, but more power to you! Come Christmas, you'll be ready! Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog. I'm doing fine. Stitches out on Thursday. YAY!
ReplyDeleteWow! I just love that card with the tiny patterned hollys because I never know how to use paper like that. This looks wonderful with the white die cut label, bordered in black so it stand out against all the pattern. I'm going to have to remember this trick because I have a LOT of papers with small patterns that I never use. As for that adorable snowman...oh my... Thumbs up to you for being able to make Christmas cards in the middle of sunshiny weather. I just can't seem to get my holiday mojo in gear even when it's December...so forget about right now. Lovely cards!!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards Darnell and loving your cute snowman !
ReplyDeletelove them both Darnell, you got my vote over at Muse.
ReplyDeleteAdorable little snowman, Darnell ... so sweet keeping his ears warm! Lovely holly ... the die cuts are so deliciously flourishy against that fab background DP! Miss you heaps! Hugs & bisous, my friend, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteOh, that is just the cutest little snowman, Darnell - keeping his ears warm - poor thing!!! Love the wonderful colours you have worked with and I really like that washi and the dry embossing!!! Everything put together beautifully!!!!! Your second card is a lovely CASE of the inspiration card!!! Very lovely label die and the font of the 'wonderful' in the sentiment is, well, wonderful!!!! Love the holly die, too!!! Both lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteHugz
Oh shutter. We just got rid of the snow here and are watching the trees bud out. I do love your little snowman ornament card it is so darling!
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell,
ReplyDeleteso sweet card! This little snowman is wonderful. I love everything blue, so that card too!

Wow! The secund card is very elegant christmas card. Everything is so perfectly refined. Delicious design. I am glad that you have so much to enter :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with HLS CC

BozenA
What a sweet snowman card. Also the second one with the gentle background is super nice CAS. I'm admiring the idea of creating Christmas cards all year long. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy first stamps...SNOWMEN! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThat snow-dude is adorable with his cute knit hat and the 2nd Christmas card is a beauty, Darnell. Thanks for the collage of your garden flowers~ simply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Christmas cards!
ReplyDeleteActually, dare I suggest that your adorable snowman has his hands over his ears to stop hearing your babble about quite, requite, and unrequite... which makes spellcheck mad. Love the holly berry card.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late visit. Gorgeous cards as always (the snowman is so cute!!)Thanks for playing along with the Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge xx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell - what amazing cards! I love that cute little guy in the bauble - so precious with his (his?) hands over his ears. I love stopping by your blog, it's like visiting an old friend each time. Always so warm and cheery. That die cut on your second card is so beautiful too! Thanks for playing along with us at Happy Little Stampers last month - both of your cards are wonderful! :)
ReplyDelete
