Greetings!
I hope you've made it over the hump with no need for a tow truck this week. Some areas are getting lots of snow and ice, so mayhaps it was necessary. Be careful out there. We are fine, but we have been getting a staggering amount of rain, which the poor sod cannot handle, so hugs and prayers for all who have been flooded.
I've made you a sunny card to brighten the doldrums! Doesn't that sound like a word I've made up? It snot. It is a colloquial expression for a state of inactivity or stagnation. A word derived from "a belt of calm and light baffling winds north of the equator between the northern and southern trade winds in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans."
Baffling? I normally use that word to mean confuzzling and forget that it also means a light wind that frequently shifts from one point to another. Sort of like your mother's cousin's brother who never could hold down a job.
Hmmm, granny's off the rails again.
All that when all I meant to do was say, "Hello!"
My cards today were made partially at the Lake House with borrowed products. I didn't succumb to purchasing those wonky stitched dies when they first appeared because I thought all these stitched dies were just getting out of control. But then I borrowed someone's at the Lake House and came home and ordered the set! They really are so wonkily wonderful. I'm sorry to say that the image and the sediment were also borrowed so I don't have the make and model information, but if you want to know, contact me and I will happily find out the information for you. I did use my Ziggies for the coloring.
Edited to add (thanks, Bev): The flowers are from Studio Calico, the sediments are from WPlus9, and the wonky stitches are from My Favorite Things.

Both your cards are so pretty! I love how colouring of your flowers. So soft and lovely :)
ReplyDeleteThese two cards are so bright and fresh. Spring has already arrived at your place. :) Two awesome CAS designs, my friend. Love the shading with your zigs ... and the sweet highlights. Great job. Fun cartoon ... reminds me of you! :) Lolly xx
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell - I do enjoy your posts :-) You have really brightened my evening after a bit of a difficult day (especially for DH) . Love your cards - and I am not sure that I will be able to resist those wonky rectangles mush longer....
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
Beautiful borrowed image, just so perfectly placed and coloured. Thanks for playing at AAA Cards.
ReplyDeleteOh my word, is wonky stitching a Thing now? I'd better scrape the dust off my sewing machine, I was always good at wonky stitching. Just not soo good at the unwonky kind. Wonky or not, your cards are gorgeous as always.
ReplyDeleteNo snow here yet but it's forecast for the next few days.
Jane
Two beautiful cards Darnell, I love the stamps and the gorgeous wonky frames (not seen these before).
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Happy New Year Darnell! Just love those two cas cards. Lovely colouring on the flowers. So far I've resisted the zigs and the wonky stitches, but having seen yours - stitches that is -they might have to go on my wish list. I'm trying to be good and not add to my stash, at least not for a while! Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteTwo really pretty cards Darnell. The stamp is lovely and I really like how you've coloured it. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteSuch cheerful cards to brighten up these dark days, Darnell. Hope your year got off to a good start. DH is having a nasty cough, as always the finale of a bad cold, and he's passed on the bug to me, so now I'm feeling pretty miserable too. Otherwise, DH is doing well, his bowels and blood showed no traces of cancer back in October, but he does need to schedule another CT scan in 3 months' time to monitor a spot on his lungs.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the wonky stitching die. I will propably buy it during my next shopping spree. I decided to remove it from my shopping cart last time. Darn. But it will have to wait, since my Black Friday shopping spree produced so much NBUS I need an extension to my craft room lol. But I do intend to do more colouring this year and send out more cards, so I'm hoping I will also put a lot of my NBUS to good use.

Hi there Darnell, what beautiful cards, lovely floral images and colours, I especially love the CAS design and the sentiment fonts are so attractive.
ReplyDeleteAdore the funny photos, I can certainly relate to it, Kate x
Beautiful cards Darnell love the floral image also the gorgeous colours and both sentiments .....had to laugh at your cartoon too say's alot about me....lol take care sending lots of love x
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell...you crack me up! Thanks for my morning chuckle! Your cards are just lovely! Yes, I too succumbed to the wonky stitched dies, thinking why in the world would I want those goofy looking crooked lines on my beautiful card, but in the end fell totally in love with them! Really like the stamp set you used too with the soft coloring...lovely, lovely cards!! Stay dry! Lots of rain here too the last few days, but at least it has taken away some of the snow and cleared the roads up a bit...well except for the pot holes now! Lovely Michigan weather!!
ReplyDeleteOh deary we will all be out now buying wonky frames so can u Divulge whose they are please. (I know yours are yours) ? Love colouring of your flowers. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeletePs it is raining here at the moment which is due to change to sleet and then snow by 5pmish to night. The Doc is out in it getting emergency supplies in for the dicky birds. (I'm sure we keep the local pet store in business).
Both cards are gorgeous !
ReplyDeleteCAS perfection and Hello to you x
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear you are getting rain, but I hope it tapers off to where you aren't being flooded. I well remember the days when it would rain for days and the mountains would start sliding away. And even when my dad had to siphon the pool so it wouldn't overflow. Fun times. I do hope you stay safe!! Your cards are SO pretty, Darnell. Sweet image, colored in wonderfully. Great sentiments, too. Great cartoon, too. Thanks for the giggle!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous summery card, Darnell. And thanks for the giggle. I need it this morning.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Em xxx
Hi Darnell, you know you always brighten my day with your bright and breezy posts and these two cards are uplifting too with their pretty flower stems sitting on the wonky stitched mats and with two very sweet sentiments to go with them, and I love the dark grey card which shows them off beautifully. I have been slow to get going since the new year and am feeling a bit like soggy suet pudding but hopefully will change into a nice zingy fluffy mousse shortly..lol. I'm sure the rain is good after all the hot dry weather you have experienced over the last year but hopefully no flooding for you. x
ReplyDeleteVery cheerful cards you presented today Darnell.
ReplyDeleteI also bought that set of dies.......purely delightful to play with ( and just placed a new order form Gina Marie yesterday.....;))
Dear Darnell, a very amusing post. You had me at 'poor sod'. After a momentary full stop I realised that you were using it in its purest form and it wasn't a derogatory remark directed at dh for his inability to withstand rain. In the UK that has long since lost it's original meaning. Like 'bonk' used to be a noise a tennis ball made and now has kids in floods of embarassed laughter. Ain't language great. Love these pretty cas beauties. I have a die set like this one from stamplorations. They do certainly add beautiful detail. Hugz
ReplyDeleteThese are such happy cards. Your coloring is soft and pretty and I like the added white highlights. You may be using wonky things but the cards are sweet and springy. I'm glad you are okay from the rain. California is on the news constantly so your state is making news. We have rain but not like yours and very strong winds. The wind shredded my outdoor flag right off the post and I haven't seen it since.
ReplyDeleteSo, SO pretty...... lovely colors/coloring, the perfect sentiment and love those wonky stitches (HAD to have 'em too!).
ReplyDeleteFabulously CAS cards,I love the wonky stitched die and the lovely flower stamp and the way both sentiments look great with it.
ReplyDeleteJean x
Two fabulous cards Darnell...love those dies but have never seen them here in the UK. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteFirstly my friend a BIG THANK YOU for the lovely card you are so sweet to remember me I was very touched to receive it. What a fabulous card so beautifully crafted the flowers are impeccable coloured and love the die panel it frames the blooms perfectly.
ReplyDeleteNever seen so much snow here in Greece some people even got their skis out and skied in the city centre.
Hope the weather has improved for you we are hoping for rain to wash all of our snow away.
Marie
Oh funny! LOVE these beauties, Darnell! Gotta use my Zigs again--just love every time I see them in action! Been wondering how you're doing with this wacky weather & glad to hear you're OK. We've actually had a little snow 3 different days after none last year, but hubby's daughter got 13 inches this last round & her Texas hubby is not at all happy with it! Guess it's kids from the south who think it's neat to have snow--hope he doesn't swoop them up & head for home--haha!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Glad you are out of the doldrums. Also glad you haven't been flooded or had a lot of snow.
ReplyDeleteLoving the cards. Sue
Two lovely CAS, with this weet images and the different sentiments! The wonky frames are adorable, I too love them and think that I need them... LOL
ReplyDeleteThe last image is sooooo fun! You made me laught! :D
Beautiful cards, the flower stamp works for any occasion. My favorite dies are the stitched ones and next on my wishlist are those used here:)
ReplyDeleteFirst thing I noticed was those fab wonky dies and I do love the CAS design and the soft colouring. Thanks for joining AAA x
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty cards Darnell and I too love those wonky stitched dies :) ....... I hope you're coping with all the rain.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards Darnell, love those wonky dies...might have to treat myself xx
ReplyDeleteGosh shame on me just getting here for the fist time this year HAPPY 2017 to you! Awesome card - I do totally adore that font!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards Darnell, beautifully coloured, stay safe in the wild weather! Will try and send you some of our heat to dry up that rain, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteTwo GORGEOUS, GORGESOUS, GORGEOUS clean & simple beauties!!! Really loving the wonky stitched border - totally works with this image and PERFECT with the sentiment on the second card! GREAT colors too!
ReplyDeleteJust finished printing the cartoon pic and am hanging one on the wall of my craft room AND on my bulletin board beside my desk at work!!!
SQUIRREL!
Just LOVE your wonky card from out of the doldrums!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty cards.
ReplyDeleteHad to quit laughing so I could actually type. Love the cartoon...sounds so much like my life right now. In any case, love the cards, especially the coloring on both of them. It's...well...perfect. Hope you and yours aren't going to start building that ark yet...I think, if the deluge continues, I'll start ours this weekend..
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard that word for a long time.
ReplyDeleteTotally love this superb CAS/LIM card and also love the stitched border, first time I have seen this style.
Love the peachy/pink colour.
Have a good weekend, well it is nearly here.
Kath x
Two very pretty CAS cards, Darnell, your colouring is gorgeous!
ReplyDeletelove Mags B x
Perfectly finished off! It's how I end a lot of sentences these days.... Your cards are perfect for this weather. We had terrible wind and rain lately (the kids' slide has ended up wedged in a hedge, but thankfully no lost tile or any other damage), but have avoided the snow so far. I do love those wonky stitched dies.... let's see how long I last before I order them! xx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you are getting too much rain, perhaps I could send a few dozen truckloads of snow down to you to enjoy! Love that beautiful flower card, so pretty and the second card--funny, funny!
ReplyDeleteI have been resisting the stitched dies but you might just have sold me on them... once I have spent about £1,000 on Tim's new things that is....lol. Your card is so beautifully cheery, I love the gorgeous flowers, they look a bit Penny Black-ish to me.
ReplyDeleteWe got snow today!! About 1/4" so far, that might be it for us as the south is getting most of the weather - now that makes a change!! Hugs, Annie xxx
I think I'm having flashbacks... hot flashes .... fish sticks... or am I dreaming about your cards now?
ReplyDeleteAt any rate I'm loving it!
=]
Both of your cards are so gorgeous and I love the wonky dies. These cards certainly are a day brightener with those wonderful colors.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love this image!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards.
ReplyDeleteLove reading your posts even more :) Yeah I read yours I don't just look at the pretty pictures.
I love those sweet little flowers and the highlights!! Darling card Darnell!
ReplyDeleteI like those wonky stitched panels but the coloring on the flowers looks fabulous! I definitely relate to that cartoon funny too :) Yep, that's me :)
ReplyDeletePerfectly lovely CAS card Darnell. Love the springy look.
ReplyDeleteTwo seriously daaaaah-ling cards, waffling or not! Your cartoon is quite great too...
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet and beautiful Hello card Darnell. Silly cartoon too...Hugs..
ReplyDeleteOh, love those blooms--such great coloring! I'm one of the few people who hasn't ordered the wonky rectangles yet but the more I see them, the more tempted I am! Hope you have a break from the rains. We are expecting ice, that evil winter moisture, on Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThe flower stamp is so pretty. I love stamps that don't require too much coloring, but look great all the same. I've thought about buying those wonky stitched rectangles, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. They do put a nice finish on a card front.
ReplyDeleteJust love these Darnell, the clean look is awesome and I love the dies!
ReplyDeleteGoing to escape the UK weather for a while...hope it's better where we're going!
Could do with sunny today as we have a light dusting of .... SNOW!
ReplyDeleteFAB card and loving the colours matey
Have a great weekend
Kathyk
Great cards - I want that die too. I did get one die set with stitching for Christmas but now can't find it anywhere! Urgh. Lovely stamps and sentiments. The Lakehouse sounds so fun! I needed a semi to get over the hump but I feel like it hit me over....Hugz
ReplyDeleteHaving a 15 minutes of Darnell this morning - much needed! Doldrums indeed, I am not a January person, I need some sunshine! And your card brightened my day, so summery and just what the doctor ordered. Those sediments are from WPlus9 Doodle Bugs as I have this set, but I am not sure on the image - it's very pretty though. And I have been pondering those wonky stitched dies too.... I can see me getting them before too long! Belated Happy New Year to you Darnell, hugs, Lisa xx
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh you are funny. Still think you could write a book. Your cards are beautiful, the wonky stitching does work well with the image. (I thought you did it by hand until I read your post). The cartoon is hilarious, love it. Have a great day xx
ReplyDeleteLate to the party again, just when I thought I was getting my act together. Guess 'getting my act together' isn't going as well as I expected. Will em you later...
ReplyDeleteAnyhooooooo... Those flowers are from Studio Calico. Some of the prettiest little bouquets out there in my opinion. Pretty sure the sentiments are from either my, or Anita's stash, too, and are WPlus9, in case your multitudinous readers wanted to know.
Your cards are amazing. Will be CASEing them in their entirety soon. They are sooooooo beautiful. I'm thinking there will be a butt-load of cards made in the near future with those Wonky dies - all thanks to you. And MFT should give you a cut, because there will be a run on those too, again thanks to you! These are among my top 10 favorite cards made by the great Darnell. Your ziggie coloring is fabulous, and the base really sets everything off to perfection. LOVE these. Ok, ok....I'll stop now. MISS you tons. Bev
Both of your cards are stunning!! I love the gorgeous image!! You've showcased it perfectly on both cards!! Love the cartoon, too ;) Have a great weekend!! Big hugs :)

I love that wonky die. The delicate coloring looks great. Isn't it great to get together with friends and share craft items?
ReplyDeleteLoving your beautiful wonky stitched cards Dee! ...yes I succumbed to them also.Sorry the weather is playing up atm. hope the rain stops soon. We had snow today but all gone now thank heavens... brrr though! I think you sound as mad as I am...and that is saying something he he ;) hugs Vee xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card - that coral color is quite pretty and I really like the wonky stitching!
ReplyDeletesandy xx
Two gorgeous cards Darnell they really brightened up a dark, cold miserable day here. We've had rain, snow, hail, sleet, sunshine and gale force winds .... lovely weather!! Let's hope things get a little better over the weekend. Have a good one my friend! xx
ReplyDeleteThese cards are so sweet. I love them both. I am a new follower, please follow me back if you like. http://chrissandlou.blogspot.com/

Beautiful cards Auntie! I love those wonky stitched dies, don't own any, but think they are so fun. I love that stamped image of the flowers too, so pretty! What paper did you use to color on with your Zigs? I don't seem to have great luck with getting my coloring to look that great! Of course I'm sure it is operator error! Yes, I have seen all the flooding and snow in CA, and while I'm glad it is help in ending your 5 year drought, I pray for those how have lost their homes and such. Flooding is so devastating, as are all disasters like this. Glad to know that you guys are good! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards Darnell ! I also love this stitched die and your coloring is beautiful! Love those spring colors when outside it is so cold !
ReplyDeleteHugs

Finally getting around blogland to say hello, and your cards are the perfect way to express my sentiments, Darnell! This is such a pretty bloom and I love how you colored them with your Zigs! Loving your beautiful details, too! I had to laugh when you talked about the Wonky Stitched dies...had to get them, too :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're staying dry and safe from all the elements and risks you are facing right now...California is a gorgeous state, but you sure do have your worries...Be well, my friend!!!
I love these pretty, cheerful flowers! They remind me of the maker of the card!
ReplyDeleteHa! I really want these wonky stitched dies every time I see someone use them but hesitate to put them on my wish list because as it is I usually forget to use my straight stitched dies! They are perfect for your beautiful CAS cards!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, ya those wonky stitched dies are fun. I love using them. They really add a lot to a card with out the bulk. Both of your cards are fabulous, I love the flower color and they way it looks so bright and happy with the card base color. Super duper cards.
ReplyDeleteAm I laffing at the cartoon, and ain't it the truth?! Also loving this wonderful spring bouquet of marvelously colored posies. I really admire the nice highlights you've got going on, and the Zigs did a super job on this card (with your expert help of course). The wonky stitching looks so good too, and I'm glad that you got yourself a set of 'em. Good luck with the rain, hope no flooding or drainage issues where you are. Happy wkend. TFS & Hugs

Hahahaha, I LOVE visiting your blog, Darnell. I get to see a lovely card AND get a good chuckle at the same time... Thank you sooo much for your advice. I had NO idea that is how replies worked. I always thought that if I hit that "reply" button on my blog, the person I was replying to would be notified. Didn't realize they had to come back to my blog to get a response. See, where would I be without you...? I'm so glad I learned this valuable lesson today!!! LOVE this card, BTW. I wish I could work my ziggies like you do... :)
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna jump on Petra's and copy my message there too. :)
ReplyDeleteDarnell, your comment on my blog made me smile so much. I love having a second Mum, nagging is good for me right now!! I love your card and I LOL at your comment about the dies..I have been resisting these particular ones for so long, but now..I really need to go and buy them. Cx
ReplyDeleteMorning Darnell, what beautiful cards! Love the wonky stitched die too. Great cartoon and one I can relate to ;)
ReplyDeleteVal x
Rain? Welcome to my world! We have quite a lot of it here, but then you already know that. Stunning card!! I love your colouring. I too have been indecisive about getting those dies ... They do look so good though...
ReplyDeleteSending hugs and hoping you get some respite from that rain ... Don't send any here though!

ReplyDeleteLOVE both of these card, Darnell! I'm kinda likin' those stitched dies,
ReplyDeletemay have to look into getting a set myself :0)
The posies are lovely and the sentiment fonts are just perfect!
PS: The cartoon is very funny and sadly oh-so-true ;-)
A vision of cheeriness, Darnell! I love both of your cards. (I think maybe your description of doldrums describes where I've been the past couple of weeks!) x
ReplyDeleteDarnell, pretty card. I love the floral stamp and sentiment. The faux stitching is the perfect accent. thanks for playing with us at CYCI! Dawn
ReplyDeleteBeautiful design its so elegant and I just love that stitched border its all so lovely love and hugs Carole x
ReplyDeleteSuper pretty and cas, love the wonky stitch die. Broke down and ordered it! And oh, that cartoon... simply true, darn it!
ReplyDeleteLove the card. Glad you like the wonky dies, and bought your own, every time I use mine people love them. I purchased Zig Clean Color Real Brush and my-oh-my are they fun. Honestly had I not purchased a gazillion dollars on Copics they might just do the trick. Hope you don't float away. My mom always said, "be careful what you wish for." At least No. CA drought is over. Take care and thinking only good thoughts for you and the Mister. Hugs, Barb
ReplyDeleteI love your coloring with that little glint of sunlight on the petals, Darnell. I resisted the wonky stitches for a while too but got them and now am thinking the wonky ovals. They do add something to a simple card.
ReplyDeleteThose different products work beautifully together and I love the pinks you used on your flowers. So pretty! I'm still struggling with my Zigs - I can never get them to look this good!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards! (and you know I like PINK!!!)
ReplyDeleteI bought myself some square stitched dies...(although I thought I would never use them...Wrong, I use them all the time...must look into getting some more...maybe the wonky ones would be great (Wonky! It's so me! smile)
Hahahaha ... there I was, Darnell, all ready to jot down something witty and pertinent, when that cartoon appeared. It's brilliant ... laughed so much my witty and pertinent words just fell out of my mouth, so now I'm improvising!! That super delightful floral image was (I believe), the most popular stamp at the Lake House ... you've made it shine beautifully here with your gorgeous colouring ... twice over! Wonky stitched dies ... yep, fell in love in those too ... they were OOS when I went to order, so I talked myself out of them. They keep mithering me though ... my resistance is crumbling ... and they're probably back in stock by now ... hmmmm! LYAMYBTMA! Hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeletePS ... mithering ... have you come across that word before??
That was me, holding out against those dies because they were a phase, right! And now I really neeeed them and have justified by telling myself that the workshopeers don't like stabbing their card fronts a zillion times to get the effect. They don't, for sure, but because they don't, I'm getting the dies for the greater good, huh?! I know you're still following this. I had to go back and re read your post because the card at the bottom distracted me!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and oh it is so good to get inspired by others and their stuff, but than the monster hits us again and we want to play more with that stuf and go order again.... Smiling while typing; great reading this post! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, your colouring is wonderful! I am loving that stamp! I love the cartoon too - a funny post which made me smile lots! Thank you! xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteAs always, stunning cards and great colouring (I've started dabbling a bit myself).
Love your Spice of Life cartoon too. Hilarious!
Hope all is well with you.
Best wishes.
Ang x

Hi Darnell, Just think those first two cards are so pretty and that last card... hits so close to home it's hysterically funny! :)
ReplyDeletetee hee hee, could be me when I tell a story! In love with that first simple "hello". What a sweet image of flowers, just the right mix of funky and sweet (but then Studio Calico is good at that). Love your coloring.
ReplyDeleteSuch a simple but effective design, Darnell. Lovely colour work and that stitched detail... love it! Thanks for playing along at CYCI - Rose
ReplyDeleteI am the proud owner of the similar card as your second. :-) It's simply beautiful. Thank you.
