Greetings, Stamplings!
Happy Sun Day! It just occurred to me that clouds are only so deep, right? So that means that no matter where you are (unless it's night), even if it's cloudy and you can't see it, the sun is still shining above you!
We've had a busy few days with What Knot and Such and Such and you're in the middle of your weekend, so let's cut to the chase.
Wait a sec. You prolly want to know where the expression "cut to the chase" comes from, doncha? Well, when the film industry switched from silent films to talkies, there was a lot of unnecessary dialogue and people got bored. When film directors saw this happening, they would yell, "Let's cut to the chase," whereupon the dialogue ceased and the action (such as a car chase) would begin!

A Glittery Butter Fly
A lot of you may recognize the card base as being from a note card set designed and sold by Concord & 9th. I thought they would come in handy for QACAS cards for my stash. For this thinking-of-you design, I used one of the Concord & 9th cards to die cut the Memory Box Darla and Vivienne butterflies. I liberally glossed and winked them. The NBUS sediment is from the Waltzingmouse set, "Say It Loud."
Challenges
- Addicted to Stamps and More: Photo inspiration: color.
- Butterfly Challenge: Use glossy accents and/or slate blue. (You can just see a bit of slate blue color in the butterfly.)
- CAS on Sunday: Critters.

A Glittery Home
I have another new home card for you. Is 2017 the Year of the Move?
I wish you could see the schparkle and glitter on this card! The panel is an ancient paper that has speckles of glitter baked right into the paper. I have trouble using it. I usually take it out, fondle it, let Hammy rub his whiskery chin on it, and put it back. But no more hoarding, people! (That would be a funny sentence without the comma.)The chalet roof, window, window box, and flowers are from a NBUS MFT Die-namics "Home Sweet Home" die which also has house sides and doors. The glittery ric rac zig zag paper is from DCWV. I white heat-embossed the "New" from "Everyday Sentiments" by Happy Little Stampers. The fun NBUS "home" die is from Winnie & Walter.
Challenges
- Double D Challenges: Ric Rac Zig Zag.
- Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything goes.
- TIME OUT Challenges: Photo inspiration. Whimsy colors and patterns.
- Winnie & Walter 3rd Birthday Bash: Bright Colors Challenge With Lydia.

ReplyDeleteOoh, you are funny Darnell, I'm still chuckling . . . "no more hoarding people" LOL.
ReplyDeleteAnywho, on to your cards. Yes, I bought a set of those C&9th cards for the very same reason, they do come in very handy don't they?
Also, I hear ya, re: the 'special' papers! I too, have a stash, that I take out and ooh and aah over, can't bear to 'waste' it, so put it back again!! However, seeing what marvellous cards you have made here makes me think that I should be 'brave' and 'let it go' (I feel a song coming on). Great cards Darnell!
I hope and pray you are almost back to full strength and you are no longer having those nasty side effects any more. Have a wonderful Sun Day, sweet friend, ours (the sun) is in hiding in my part of the UK! Luv n’ Hugs. Hazel xx

ReplyDeleteGreat sparkly butterfly. Beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteDarnell, love your chatter...I too hoard people and should get some of "them" out of the basket under the stairs. On to the cards...the new home is darling! And, butterflies are a favorite of mine and I use them as much as I can. Keep well and keep on making our day with your wit!! Hugs, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThe note card is gorgeous, Darnell, what a beautiful background for your luscious sparkly butterfly. Thank you for the explanation about that phrase, one of my favourite sayings but I didn't know how it came about!
ReplyDeleteThat would be a funny sentence without the comma.... Thanks for the origin of that saying too, I never knew that!
ReplyDeleteWell, of course I love the butterfly card, the watercolour background is a gorgeous base for the butterfly. Well done for using some of your sparkly card too, you can always buy some more I guess..... lol. Hope you are having a good weekend. Hugs, Annie xxx
Hey, Darnell I recognize that gorgeous butterfly card and it is sitting right in front of me. Thanks so much. In my pain meds haze I'm not sure I ever thanked you. Thanks for your prayers and thoughts during my surgery and recover. Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and sparkly butterfly Darnell and the card base looks so pretty with it, then the fun new home card with the rick rack paper so glittery and gorgeous, and thank goodness your hoarding people has stopped now..lol. x
ReplyDeleteEspecially love the glittery butterfly card. Such pretty colors. The house is a cute design.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful pair of cards, especially the first beauty! *wink* I just love the dreamy watercolor look with that big, bold sentiment. The schparkly butterfly wins the prize, hands down! Gorgeous make, and a great find on those card bases. Love the cute and colorful new home card too1 The ric-rac along the lettering, roof and bottom border reminds me of the ups and downs of being a home owner LOL The little window with a flower box is beyond cute! NJ on both!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards!!! Love the sparkly butterfly..
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell,
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful sparkly butterfly card, my favourite butterfly die.
Thank you for your comment on my blog, as you can see I'm fine thank you and was having a bit of a blog break. i need to do a bit of catching up now.
Jean x
Whipping those challenges out like the pro that you are. That shimmery butterfly is gorgeous...love that you found such excellent use for those not cards and I LOVE that sentiment (I so often use that phrase).
ReplyDeleteThe second card is just clever, clever, clever. I know exactly what you mean about caressing your papers...something I do often, as well. So much more satisfying than hoarding people.
Oh my, Darnell, what a delicate, dreamy, delicious butterfly, all gorgeous in her shimmery finery ... she looks as though she's ready to go to the ball! Your sweet house ... it's brilliant ... puts me in mind of Hansel and Gretel's gingerbread house, baked with sparkly sugar coating ... scrumptious, caressable and almost edible! Is hoarding people that different from hoarding hamsters ... apart from they take up more space ... and are probably a little more demanding? Just wondering. Delighted to have you playing along with us at Time Out, my friend! LYAMYAWLTBCWY! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteI am the lucky owner of the butterfly card and can tell you I love it! It is on a very special shelf that I look at several times a day and I smiles each and every time. Thanks again Darnell!
ReplyDeleteYour glittery cards are so fantastic! And, I did not know there were note cards like that. I can see where they work great as a card base. And, I also appreciated the history on how "cut to the chase" came about That is cool!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are stricking and I love how the glitter works so different on each! Here is arnaval and the start of a week schoolbreak, so in a hurry... Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteI love both of these, just fab! Hope you're keeping well. Cara x

Have a great week.
Kath x
Lovely Cards. I thought you had created the beautiful card base until I read your post - it makes a goregous card. Love the sparkly butterfly. Glad you cut into your paper - I am trying that one too - no more saving! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous cards! I'm impressed as always. :-) Your butterfly has a gorgeous background. Home card is so cute. Just to fall in love with the simpatic design. :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Hugs, Sonja
Gorgeous glittery and glossy butterfly on the pretty base card. Love the new home card too - such a quirky, fun design! Well done using the treasured paper - you and Hammy were so brave! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a FAB card. We will soon have butterflies for real. Love the color you chose. The home card is really cute.
ReplyDeleteLove, Hugs and Blessings
Jim
Darnell, How appropriate to read about the origin of that expression on Oscar night! As for hoarding paper, I tend to hoard random sheets of 6 by 6 pads... waiting for the right paper-worthy moment. LOL Both cards are great, and I especially love the CAS design of the first one. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty butterfly and background, Darnell! And that's the sweetest new house! I hope you are enjoying a sunny day without the clouds!
ReplyDeleteNow until you used it here, I didn't know C9 made note cards. Talk about having my head where the sun doesn't shine, clouds or no... Can I just say this is one gorgeous card? Well I am and it most certainly is! That buttery-fly is so pretty all dressed in sparkles and the sentiment has that 'happy flight' feel to it and goes so well with your card. The colors are pretty darn awesome, too. Love it girly. And your house card is so bright and fun! I love that glittery rickety rack paper and the base panel...I think I have some hoarded like that as well. No hoarded people though. But I suppose, if you recommend it, I could always start...haha. Hope your weekend was delightful, and wonderful, and that you and Hammy had lots of fun in the playhouse. Missing you tons honeygirl!! xoxo Bev
ReplyDeleteLots of schparkle on your blog today! From the pretty shimmery butterfly to the glittery colorful house! Fabulous both of them! Hope the upcoming week will sparkle like your cards!
ReplyDeleteOoooooh, I do love all the sparkle on your cards. Whatever would we do without sparkly elements for our cardmaking? I suppose we'd have to grind some mica with a mortar and pestle - and we wouldn't have all the beautiful colors we have now. Kinda' glad I live in the 21st century of paper crafts.
ReplyDeleteFABulous cards Darnell! Love the sparkle on your butterfly. I have paper like that too. I buy because it's pretty then can't figure out how to use it on a card!
ReplyDeleteGreat butterfly! Such a great house too! Carri~Abusybee
ReplyDeleteSkittles!
Darnell, your butterfly card is so pretty I love those color bits and that lovely flutter by! Your new home card is genius...fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLove that gorgeous butterfly card and the pretty colors.
ReplyDeleteTwo fun cards, but that butterfly is a beaut!
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards, Darnell! Love your gorgeous glittery butterfly! And your home design is so charming with the fun die cuts and bright colors!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteHi, two fab cards , love the idea of using up special paper, I have " a little " in a safe place.
Best Wishes Lilian in Cornwall
What a great Twofer, Darnell! Can't go wrong with all that pretty sparkle.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful, I sure thought the top one had a water colour background. The colours on the new home card are wonderful. I try not to hoard papers, craft stash (or people) as they take up valuable space. I used to hang on to stash because maybe it was 'too good to use' and also I would buy duplicates 'in case they run out at the craft stores'. Pretty hilarious, as if I would never find something I like again ha ha. The problem is my tastes tend to change and so I've ended up giving tons away. I'm much more selective these days. I hope you have a great day, Shirley xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Darnell. Butterflies are a favorite of mine and I love the colors on that one too.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Em xoxo
Beautiful butterfly card Darnell. I'veused the same WM stamp set for the sediment on my card today! I love the shparkle and glitter on the new home card as well.
ReplyDeleteYour sparkly butterfly looks like he was born for that background - well, I suppose he was, you created him - ha! I love how you made the card base the house, it's such a fun card!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your butterfly card and I am green with envy over your background!
ReplyDeleteThe house card is quite creative and I find I love it too!
Sandy xx
Wow...you've been a busy girl while I was away visiting Brady (and Carol). Took a quick trip through the posts that I missed....awesome stuff pal!
ReplyDeleteAdore these two cards! I'm so in awe of your ability to switch gears from s CAS elegant and stunning butterfly card to a fun and whimsical 'gingerbread happy' card!
Lovin' the 'schparkle and glitz on both cards!
Stunnong card, love your awesome background and that butterfly is perfect touch to whole card...gorgeous take on our inspiration photo...thank you for joining us at ATSM challenge this week, hope to see you again
ReplyDeleteZeljka DT xx

ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, somehow those Concord & 9th bases have slipped me by... but aren't they so lovely! And a perfect backdrop to the beautiful butterflies from Memory Box (I have these two and they are a staple in my stash so to speak..). They look so pretty and glittery and the whole card is just a gorgeous design. And the second card, I think I know the sort of paper you mean and you have done a fab job of using it - I love the different elements of this lovely bright and colourful house - such a fun card and would look lovely on the mantelpiece in someone's new home :), Hugs, Lisa xx
ReplyDeleteYep, the sunning is shinning above them clouds and the stars are out too, we just can't see them! I am loving both of your cards Auntie! That butterfly is so beautiful, love her sparkle! The new home card is just fabulous! Don't you love the glitter on the paper already?! No, let's not hoard people, that wouldn't be good or maybe if it was the right people it would be lots of fun!!! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteLove your cards, Darnell! I haven't used those note cards that were given to me--you've inspired me! Adorable new home card!
ReplyDeleteOMG I have that MFT Home Sweet Home die and have never used it!! It's one of those that I got and when I did, I haven't known what to do with it!! I love how you've used it! Way to be brave and used your long loved paper too! Also LOVE your sparkly butterfly! Everything looks even better when it sparkles!! Great idea to add it to a premade notecard. So beautiful! Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteGosh Darnell the butterfly is just gorgeous. I like every bit of it. Are your feet dry. :) Rained here for 24 hours simply non-stop.
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards! The butterfly one is gorgeous in its monochrome colors and the colors just pop off your second card.
ReplyDeleteWell! your first card's a stunner and I love your new home card too, very clever how you used the roof :D Hugs Gay xx
ReplyDeleteYour New Home card is so clever! I'm all moved out after doing it last year so you can rest assured that the Palmer's are staying put in 2017. The butterfly card is the bomb!
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards as always! The card base for the first one is very effective ' cos I thought you'd been playing with watercolours. Love the really bright new home card.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use your C & 9th papers with your gorgeous butterfly, Darnell! I love all the sparkle, and the font on your sentiment is the perfect touch! Your 2nd card is so fun! I love the effect of the colorful ric rac design, and how you chose the shape of the house...so clever! It's always so much fun to visit your blog...Thanks for inspiring us :)
ReplyDeleteOh you are so clever! Love the background of the butterfly card (and I'm relieved I'm not the only one that 'collects' stuff (aka schtuff). Love your sparkly card too!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteOoooh, you are spoiling us with these twofers. They are both superb but the first one really sings to me. The sheen on The butterfly is fab.
Nice to see you reminiscing about the silent movies. A lovely reminder of your youth eh? (I'll duck to avoid the swipe lol!)
Ang x
Ooh, for a second I thought you'd been smooshing! I love that background on the C&9th card, and your sparkly shimmery butterfly complements it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely the Year of The Move. Both boys are now happily ensconced (with respective partners) in their new houses :)
Precious glittery butterfly card, and stunning new home card, very cheery and welcoming!
ReplyDelete
