Greetings, Stamplings!
Don't forget the April Boo-Boo Hop/NBUS Challenge #11 is coming soon!➠
I hope you had a good week! What am I saying? Good? I hope you had a GREAT week!!
Don't forget to change your clocks to 'spring ahead' if you live where that happens. Since that means you'll lose a precious hour of crafting time, I'll jump right to my cards today!

For my card I used a NBUS Technique Tuesday stamp and die set called "Ritzy Mum." The sediment is from the same set. I die cut the image from the center of a panel and then stamped the image randomly around the negative cut using gray ink. Using Ranger Archival Ink, I stamped the image on the card base to line up with the negative cut and colored it with my Ziggies. The top panel is popped up on foam tape.
So what happened was I saw my friend Anita's card which she made as a member of the DT for TIME OUT Challenges third birthday celebration and I was smitten! Here is her delicious card:

Isn't that cool? I've seen and done the spotlight designs where you only color in a portion of your stamp image or images, but I have never seen a spotlight design like Anita made. I knew I would be CASEing this ~ nay, COPYing it ~ as soon as I could! Thank you, Anita, for this marvelous inspiration!
Challenges
~~~
I enjoyed the process so much, I made a second spotlight inset card:
Challenges
- Addicted to Stamps and More: Make Your Mark.
- Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Make Your Own Background.
- TIME OUT Challenges: Love and Friendship with the optional twist of "spotlight stamping." Congratulations on your 3rd Birthday Party and cheers to many more!!
~~~
I enjoyed the process so much, I made a second spotlight inset card:
The NBUS morning glory stamp and the hummers are from a Taylored Expressions stamp and die set called "Hovering By." Again I colored the flowers using my Ziggies and this time I winked them, too. It must have been nap time cuz I forgot to add my sediment!
Another friend Ardyth is the Guest Designer for the TIME OUT third birthday celebration. I think you'll want to check out her cards and the cards of the entire DT on both the main post and the reminder post for more fantastic spotlight stamping examples!
Challenges
- AAA Cards: Oscar Red Carpet. I chose Zoe Saldana in 2010.
- Stamping Sensations: Close to Nature.
- The Daily Marker 30-Day Coloring Challenge.
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure to return the flavor!

Beautiful cards Darnell, every one of them.
So your clocks are going forwards this weekend and ours don't do it for two weeks - how confusing is that going to be? Why can't it all happen at once?
Jane
Love your Artworks ... both are amazing !!!

That really is such a clever idea! I love both cards very much but the second one has stolen my heart, those little hummers are just the sweetest things ever.... The flowers on both cards are coloured beautifully - so Spring-like!
Our clocks don't change for another two weeks, how odd that the 'time lords' are out of synch, you would think it easier to have the changes at the same time..... Hope you have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Annie xx
Hi Darnell, Loving the cards.
We don't change our clocks till 26th March and then again on 29th October.
Hope you have a lovely day. Sue
Brilliant cards, Darnell. Like you, I've seen images partially coloured, but popping the coloured part up on foam pads brings it to life. xx
Two beautiful cards Darnell, I can see why you liked this technique so much.
Sue xx
So happy to see you over at Time Out Darnell! Wow! Love those sweet little humming birds on your card. Fabulous!
What glorious cards today Darnell! Beautifully done! Our clocks don't change until the 26th ... Do you change in the USA??
Beautiful cards!!
Your cards are so pretty Darnell! Happy to see you had fun with that technique. Adore that you also colored one of the hummingbirds, too. Have an awesome weekend!
Beautiful cards. I don't think I've seen this technique. I really like it. I've got to try this one day.
What I really don't like is changing to Daylight Saving Time. Ugh! In Florida we don't need another hour of heat especially when it's 100+ heat index. Give us our dark back, please!
Spotlight spendiferous, my friend! Anita's gorgeous card + your two stunning delights = one incredibly happy, inspired me! I've never thought to die cut and inset the colouring image; learned something new today! Your second card is perfect as is; no sediments required!
Hugs and love~c
These cards are all beautiful! I love this technique and may have to try it myself. Have a great weekend!
Hi Darnell
What a fab technique and used to great effect by you and your friend.
Must have a bash at that myself.
Have a great weekend.

Well Pookie, I think you've done Anita proud with your CASE of her card! And another technique mastered by the mistress of cardmaking! And you've made those mums extra-special ritzy!! I love the yellow; it's such a harbinger of Spring. Very, very pretty! I love this one. Then you go ahead and make another! That pretty morning glory bouquet all dressed in purple and winked up so nice is gorgeous and rich looking. LOVE the little hummer you've added, too. It's darling, darlin'! And I'll be sure to set my clocks ahead tonight...don't want to be walking into church as everyone is walking out, lol!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend sweetie pie. xoxo miss you xoxo. Bev
Wow, Darnell, your spotlight cards are beautiful! I love hummingbirds so that has to be my favourite but these are all lovely! I was never a fan of this technique until just lately, where I've been seeing some gorgeous cards like yours! I might even get up the courage to try this! Yes, we lose an hour tonight and I'm not happy about it! I need all the sleep I can get!
Beautiful spotlight cards! LOVE that one with the hummingbirds. It's about time for those little guys to appear around here again.
Lynn
I've never seen this before and I am so impressed. What great cards you made and Anita's card is such an inspiration. I love the bright colors and great shading. We spring tonight and it takes Molly a while to adjust so we sleep a bit later. My household runs on her schedule!
Both of your cards are stunning, Darnell!! I love the technique you used!! It really makes the colors pop!! Gorgeous, gorgeous cards!! Have a great (hour-shorter!!) weekend!! Big hugs :)
Lisa

Both your cards are very beautiful Darnall and a great take on Anita,s lovely card. What a great way to do spotlighting. I think lots of us will be having a go at this great idea. Of to visit your friends, blogs. Barbxx
Wow,their both oh so stunning Darnell, the first card is ever so beautiful with that impeccable coloured in flower. I really do love it!! Second card is superb and the soft purple lilac is just so pretty. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thank you for your kindness at my blog and I've just started following your blog too. Hugs to you my friend! X :)
Well now, this is certainly a pretty pair of cards, and I love the technique you used. I especially love all those hummers fluttering around on the 2nd card - they remind me of spring. On the way home from running my errands today I reset the clock in the car for DST, so I'm ahead of the game! At least in the car! I'll probably remember that I forgot to re-set the house clocks at around 10 PM on Sunday LOL
Wow Darnell, both of your spotlight cards are fabulous! I also loved Anita's card and am surely CASEing (copying!) it in near future too. Your NBUS stamps are very pretty and your coloring looks great in both card! Thank you so much for your continuous support and encouragement to our challenge blog... Thanks for joining our 3rd birthday party at TIME OUT! Have a great weekend!
Thanks for showing your beautiful cards with the spotlighting. And, also the reminder to change our clocks. Every time we do the clock change, my body is all messed up and I need a week or two to adjust. Sometimes I wonder if I really would rather prefer it to just stay one way permanently. But, oh well! Such is life!
These are both stunning Darnell. I love the way your flowers jump out at you and I just want to pick them and put them in a vase. Anita's card was the first time I'd seen this take on spotlight stamping too and I think it's a style that will definitely catch on and you've done an amazing job at CASEing it xx
"Spring" must be just around the corner because I am seeing so many florals in cyberspace. These two are some of the best. Kind of fell in love with Anita's card, too. But since I'm having a arid, mojoless week or two, I can't seem to come up with anything as gorgeous as hers or yours.
Love that you use those hummers on your second card. They're perfect with the morning glories. LOOOOOVE the coloring, as well.
Hugs!
Two fabulous creations, love the idea of the style of the card and you have cased it so brilliantly.

Beautiful cards, Darnell.

Ohh before I forget your image isnt showing at AAA challenge on their linky.
Your Mum coloring is beautiful, Darnell, and I like that technique too. I'm always up for trying something a little different. I love those morning glories and who can resist a couple of hummers.
Thanks for the reminder Darnell to play in the Time Out challenge. Thanks also for your April NBUS..boo, boo challenge too. You know how it is anymore...we all need lots of reminders..lol! BTW...I LOVE both your spotlight beauties. So much beautiful inspiration and wonderful technique. A big hug...
Two fabulous cards. Teriific colouring and a great technique.
Such pretty cards! I need to buy some craft foam for that "popping up" trick. It looks so cool!
Beautiful cards Darnell..I especially love the floral one...it repeats beautifully in the negative grey.We don't spring forward for a few more weeks yet..enjoy the extra daylight. Hugs xxx
Absolutely beautiful cards. You know I'm a fan of the CAS and here are CAS plus - a bright Spring like pop of colour for the coming season - it is coming, I think..... have a fabulous week! Xx
Two really striking creations Darnell, the subtle stamping with the brilliant pops of colour focally really draws the eye.
Thanks so much for joining us at Stamping Sensations challenge, lovely to see you there.

Darnell, these are really brilliant cards. I love the spotlight technique you used.

Oooh fabulous dress pick, purple heaven! Great interpretation on your card too, love it! I'm seeing your card ok in the link up, but please contact me via email if you think there's still a problem. Thanks for playing at AAA Cards.
Oh these are lovely Darnell, and they work so beautifully with floral stamps, which, lets face it, we all have in mahoosive number!!
Lovely cards Darnell. Love the flowers on the first card,
Lilian
Both these are absolutely gorgeous! Love the way the colours pop from their recessed home - so cool! Hugs. xxx
Two gorgeous cards .... those little hummers are so cute and your flowers are coloured beautifully. Enjoy the weekend hun xx
What a cool technique! The mums are colored beautifully! I feel a CASE coming on! Love your sweet hummers and I know they love those purple flowers! Hope you have a GREAT weekend too!
Very dramatic look with this technique, and both these gorgeous cards are amazing. (Did see Anita's card & you've had some super inspiration there!) You certainly picked 2 pretty bouquets to do this look with, and I hope you got all the clocks sprung forward and will have just a grand happy week. TFS & Hugs
That is a beautiful technique which I may have to copy. Your card, and Anita's, are so colourful and cheerful. The mono background really sets off the colours.
What a great background technique. Love your cards. So pretty.
Awesome set of spothlight cards...they all are bright and stunning...thank you for joining us at ATSM challenge
Zeljka DTxx
What a great technique Darnell and you have CASED Anita's gorgeous card beautifully. I particularly love the colouring on the Chrysanthemum card - it looks almost 3d!
Hope you are well my friend.

Ooooh, ultra-pretty! Now, see, there's an idea for those stamp and die sets that works out just beautifully. Your coloring is gorgeous. Beautiful, rich colors, and very sunshiny on those mums. I don't like losing an hour, so I woke up in a hurry today, sheesh!
Two fabulous cards Darnell using this clever technique and a great CASEing of Anita's pretty card, and all the flowers have been beautifully coloured, and also your sweet hummer. x
I loved Anita's card, too & you made her proud with your 2 beauties!
Gorgeous cards as ever Darnell - and thank you for joining in with us at Stamping Sensations.
Lovely cards, Darnell. I love both of your spotlight stamping cards. Gorgeous take on Anita's and lovely purple beauty for AAA Cards. Thanks for playing along.
gorgeous cards!
hugs
Both cards look so beautiful! The card for the TIME OUT challenge is my favorite, just because I like the blue-stamped flowers so much... Hope you have a good week!
These are all lovely cards! Great job with the coloring.
Great cards. Love the little bit of colouring with some images not coloured.
A lovely pair of cards Darnell!!
Two stunning spotlight cards Darnell! Love the texture on the paper you've used and the silhouette background stamps really make the central coloured image pop. Just gorgeous hun. Hugs, Wends xoxo
These are gorgeous Darnell. I have not tried this inlay spotlight technique, but I am definitely going to now. I love the extra dimension it gives and the images really pop from the background. I still chuckle at how many NBUS you have. That hummingbird stamp is so so elegant too, both cards are breathtaking. I am adding it to my never ending list of things to try including ziggies on heat resistant acetate! Have a lovely day, Lisa xx
Well chalk this up to one technique I need to try, STAT! This looks so polished and pretty, but gives a little twist to the classic one-layer!
Oh, wow!! Your cards are gorgeous!! I haven't tried the inlay technique and I'm now very inspired seeing your amazing cards! Just so interesting and super lovely!!
Well done!!! Your case of Anita's card is quite a compliment. Her card is beautiful. The fact you did two of the cards says volumes. Love it. Just wonderful.
Love, Hugs and Blessings,
Jim
Beautiful cards - I love both the fresh colours and the technique.
Anne x
Hi, Darnell! I love this technique! I've never seen the spot lighted portion "recessed" before, and it is definitely eye-catching! Fabulous cards.Thank you for sharing both cards, and the inspiration card as well! Beautiful! hugs, de
These are just gorgeous, great idea to make similar but different cards when you have a great design like this.
Stunning cards, love the design of them. very pretty. Thank you so much for joining us at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Hugs, Sandra
Well aren't these pretty cards!! I LOVE that stamp and the fun way you recessed the flower. Your Zig coloring is fantastic and I am jealous at the beautiful shading. No matter how I try, me and Zigs just do not play well together. I also love the fun way you used the birds on the second card. Great design!!
What a neat technique. Your beautiful cards are inspiring me to get busy over here and create some Easter cards :-)
Wow - this spotlight technique is brilliant! I will have to CASE your CASE. Thanks for sharing.
this card design looks so fabulous - love it - thanks for sharing your creation at Addicted to Stamps and More
Oh how glorious, Darnell ... those mums are not only beautiful and delicate, your colouring is outstanding ... seems I could just pluck them off the screen and arrange them in a vase to brighten even the sunniest of days! I'm so honoured that you enjoyed my card so much that you CASEd it ... merci mille fois, my sweet friend ... it truly is a stunner! Talking of stunners ... what about that hummer (don't you just love the way those two words flow together!)? The delicacy of the soft colours on the inset one is so delicious ... and once again, the colouring on the morning glory is awesome ... doesn't need a sentiment, it's perfect as is! I'm tickled pink you played along with us for our 3rd birthday celebrations at Time Out! LYAMYBLMCAHAAC?! Hugs & bisous, Anita :)
Both your cards are as beautiful as Anita's one, Darnell!!!!! Love your beautiful flowers on both cards and the hummers are so darling!!!!! Some great colouring and the one inlaid hummer is such a great idea!!!!! I think you card is perfect without a sediment - ready to use for any occasion!!!!! Love your spotlight cards, my friend!!!!!
