Greetings, Stamplings!
Welcome back after another holiday under the belt! And I mean literally under the belt. Oof!
Wait. What? Who am I kidding? My waist hasn't seen a belt since the last century! When I say "Enjoy your day" at the end of my posts, I want you to know I embody those words, right here em my body!
My Onefer.
I'm off to make my ham and bean soup!
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

My Onefer.
I used MFT stitched dies and inlaid the oval. The lovely lacy grasses are from GKW and the NBUS flowers are from SU's "Simply Soft" set. In the published photo the flowers look more red than pink, but I promise I used pink and rose Ziggies to watercolor the petals. The "enjoy" sediment is from Paper Smooches "Yummers" set. Simples.
Challenges
- CAS Watercolour Cards: Pink and green.
- CAS(E) This Sketch!
- TIME OUT: I hope it's okay to switch out the butterflies for flowers.
- Less Is More: Spring walk.
~~~
My Twofer.
I had to get this Concord & 9th "Happy Day" stamp and die set after seeing a lot of you make stunning cards with it and I finally excavated it from Mt. NBUS yesterday. It makes either be a pretty feminine birthday cake or a scrummy wedding cake.
I used my Ziggies to color the image and popped it up with dimensionals so the frosting wouldn't get all over the place. The sediment is from Stamping All Day; I love how it just fits in that cake layer. The ribbon is from SU. A corner chomper chompered the corners. Simples again.
Challenges
- The Flower Challenge. I hope it's okay that a cake is attached to my flowers.
- Just Us Girls: Colour challenge.
Good Times.
Good Times.
Our Easter was lovely! We didn't remember to take many photos, but I have a few to share. Below is our son Dan and his wife Rachel enjoying their Easter egg hunt for candy:
Haha, they are actually hiding the eggs, but it does look like they are being big kids and finding them, doesn't it?!
And here are the twinlets after they finished the hunting:
Their legs are getting pretty long for the traditional sitting-on-the-step-after-finding-all-the-eggs photo! Speaking of legs, those are mine in the background in my new pink Keds with little bunnies on them!
And what do you do with two active boys when the rains arrive and you want them out of the house while you finish getting dinner? Why you send them out to their Bama's Playhouse and give them a stack of pp to make helmets out of wire planter baskets. Here is Adam modeling his:
It was a successful distraction and it turns out they have incredible paper-piecing skills!!
Sorry we didn't get any photos of the four woofers in attendance. 🐶🐶🐶🐶
I'm off to make my ham and bean soup!
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure to return the flavor!
Two beautiful spring cards, Dolly. You are a master with the zigs!! Great shading to create lots of depth. Love the sweet inlaid sentiment on the first card. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour!
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone had a wonderful Easter at your place. The boys look happy with their haul of Easter eggs. :) Ham and bean soup sounds delish, what time is dinner??!! :) Lolly xx
Good morning! Fabulous cards - I love them both but the first is my favourite so evocative of Spring.
ReplyDeleteMy first thoughts were how fun that your son still enjoys looking for Easter eggs!
I agree with Loll ... what time is dinner?!
Elaine
Your watercolouring is wonderful. It looks really arty. Looks like a fun Easter. So good to see you at Time Out
ReplyDeleteGoodness, what a full post. Love your LIM entry, Darnell. Good to see you have enjoyed your Easter - you have a lovely family too
ReplyDeleteKathyk
It sounds like a fun Easter - love the planter hats! Love both cards, especially the CAS elegance of the first. When reading about the second, for a moment I thought "Why's she describing that pretty hat as cake".... I think I need another cup of tea to wake my brain up!
ReplyDeleteJane
Gorgeous cards! Stop tempting me with that C&9th cake/flowers stamp!!! Loving the beautiful florals and inlaid oval die on your card for our spring walk challenge. ReplyDeleteMy Card Attic
Howdy do, Darnell!!! Your cards are fabulous!! You rocked the CAS(E) this Sketch! It was a doozy and I had a hard enough time trying to tackle it. I think I stretched it, but at least it knocked loose a few crafty cells so I could get a card made for my nephew.
ReplyDeleteYour coloring is be-yoo-tea-ful on both cards! I love that birthday cake card - wow!! Glad you excavated the stamp from Mt. NBUS!
Both cards are absolutely gorgeous! Such pretty flowers on the first one and the yummy cake on the second! Love the photos too - awesome! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful cards. The first one is so pretty and such a gorgeous layout. That cake stamp is amazing and such a beauiutlf card with lovely shading. Thank you for sharing the fun photos and loved the 'helmet' x
ReplyDeleteWonderfully colored cards! You do a superb job with those Zigs! :) Um, I wanna see the bunnies on the Keds, please. :) Wonderful Easter photos. Looks like everyone had a grand time. Thanks so much for sharing! :) Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSuper two-fer! I hear you with the belt. I have not had a complete meal since Easter, and that is fine by me. Looks like a good time was had by all.
ReplyDeleteLove that first card. The flowers are so bright and cheerful and could be a picture from your backyard. Yummy cake and big enough for all of us followers! I can't believe how grown up the twins are getting. Every time you post a picture I am amazed.
ReplyDeleteAh ah!! Your Easter photos are just fun, surely all the family has enjoyed the day! :D
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards also today, love both them!
Two fabulous cards and some great colouring with the Zigs Darnell. I love the pretty flowers and foliage and what a great idea to inset the oval sentiment frame which matches in so well with the stitched rectangles, and the beautiful cake looks good enough to eat, and again fab colouring, and love the two lines of pretty green ribbon. Love your photos of the egg hunt and looks like you all had a good time. The thought of that ham and bean soup is making me feel hungry! x
ReplyDeletep.s. Have read your soup recipe and I am out there now to make some soup. Don't have the ham and have to keep my fat down to as near to zero as possible, but do have some beans and chicken so will improvise. x
Happy Easter Egg thingy (now I'm late but then aren't I always????)
ReplyDeleteGreat pics - and LUVERLY makes Darnell. I want to get the pinkie greenie inky things out and get cracking (like the eggs? No Pun intended)x
Awesome cards, Darnell! I especially love the inset sentiment! I have to remember to do that:) Ooooh, ham and bean soup! Just got mine cooked up overnight and, even as we "speak," I am letting it cool a little bit before freezing it in individual portions:) Yum, yum!
ReplyDeleteTwo FABULOUS cards Darnell!! Your pink and green card turned out SO pretty and your cake card looks yummy enough to eat right off the page! I love that stamp set too and have been debating over it for awhile, but am trying very hard not to let you enable me AGAIN until I get a few other things (OK, a LOT of things!!) on my wish list!! Love the Easter photos too...my how those boys are growing!! And thank you SOOO much for the Welcome Spring card...so much fun to receive "happy mail"!! :0)
ReplyDeleteTwo amazing cards here Dee!love the photo's too what a great time you all had.Thank you for sharing your beautiful flower card with us over at 'The Flower Challenge' and we hope to see you again soon ;) hugs Vee xx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, two beautifully designed cards, I especially love your first card, the flowers are gorgeous and beautifully coloured, lovely design.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of your family, thanks for sharing them, Kate x
Your cards are both lovely! Such great coloring. I do enjoy your photos with family, looks like it was a wonderful Easter!
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet flower garden, Darnell! I really like how the inset sentiment pops from the grass! Love that delicious looking cake too! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour and sharing your Easter festivities!
ReplyDeleteOh my, the perfect 'BAMA' and a big Easter dinner, too. Those grandtwins are growing by leaps and bounds. Hippity-hopping into puberty...aack!
ReplyDeleteI predict that your cards are both going to be winners. Love the "enjoy" bouquet and I'm sure The Flower Challenge isn't going to be a stick in the mud about that luscious caked.
By the way, would love a closer look at those chic tennis shoes.
Great cards and lovely pictures of the Easter-weekend!
ReplyDeleteChristine
Two gorgeous cards. You are a pro with the Ziggies. TFS your Easter pics. The twins are certainly growing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty cards and FUN pictures! Just got a glimpse of your sneakers but already know I love them.
ReplyDeleteLynn
Oooh, love the lacy grasses in your first card! And the flower color is beautiful all reddy pink or pinky red. And what a gorgeous cake, colored expertly with your Zigs and popped up so the frosting wouldn't get all over that beautiful white. You're making good progress on Mt. NBUS. I feel a little bit like the bird pecking away at the mountain a single grain of sand at a time... Easter at Bama's house looks like fun! Love your pink Keds, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Darnell are both of your cards l like lots of colours but pink and green together go so well and your easter egg hunt looks like such fun too! children look to have had a great time xx
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Wonderful are your new cards. I love this very beautiful cake :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful family and dear grandchildren. It's a real happiness :-)
Hugs,
BożenA
Oh yum, ham and bean soup - sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful, I just love the inlaid oval and the flowers on the first one and the cake looks pretty special on the second one too!
Adam and Henry are growing up so fast! I bet they are nearly as tall as you now, or even taller! Love how they have their own unique hairstyles too - what a handsome pair! Adam's helmet is brilliant!
Hugs, Annie xxx
Two stunning cards, your comment about the frosting did make me giggle! Looks like you had a fabulous easter. Cara x
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are so gorgeous and I love the pink and green combos you used. And, looks like it was a fun Easter for you and yours. We had a good one too.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards Darnell. Love Easter egg hunts. We did an early one here for our grandkids as we were all away for Easter itself - and not together :-( Thanks for popping by my place' Hugs Anne x ( Copper Beech Crafts) xxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I love that cake image. Beautiful pics of Easter celebration. I love the hat your grandson has made.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards, Darnell. I especially love the first one with the lacy grasses. Looks like you and yours had a wonderful Easter.
ReplyDeleteI love the flowers and the inset die with the sentiment on it, Darnell. Very Spring-y. I also love your cake. I had to have that stamp too and do have a cake colored but haven't turned it into a card yet. Stay tuned.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards and your coloring is fabulous. Love them both.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fun Easter. Thanks for sharing the photos.
OMG Darnell...I LOVE your pretty pink and green flowers and greenery. Makes me want to get out and garden right now..whoops, forgot will not be home for a couple more weeks! TFS your beauty and joining us at CAS Watercolour. TFS your flowers and cake card too...it is a beauty.
ReplyDeleteTFS your family Easter fun photos. The twins are looking so grown up. My twin sister and I are all grown up too :-) Yep, even cute twins grow up! BTW, Margie keeps her hair longer and I keep mine shorter. Helps in telling us apart just like your twin grandsons. Hugs...
What a great pair of cards today. I'm especially loving that first one with those pretty flowers and all the stitching too! Great photos of your Easter fun - and how creative of Adam to make that "helmet" LOL Hope the bean soup was good :)
ReplyDeleteSuper duper cards Darnell and I always love seeing your family snaps. The twins are getting so big!! xx
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards Darnell but totally and utterly love the first cards. Some fabulous photo's two and the Easter egg hunt looks like great fun.
ReplyDeleteKath x
Ooooooo...Pretty! Cards, that is. And Ooooooo....Beautiful! Family, that is! I love all the stitched elements you've used on your first card, and I can tell that the blossoms are pink; a really rich pink, too! It's really pretty. And that cake... I've been eyeing that set for some time now. You've colored everything on it perfectly! LOVE them both. And our grown up kids hid the eggs too. I should have done what you did and taken some blackmail photos of them with the eggs! Those boys are so handsome and getting so big. Where does that time go??? And the helmet... I'll bet they had a ball making those! And what time do you need me to be there for dinner? I adore H&B soup, and rarely get the chance to make it, as someone isn't crazy about it, boohoo!! Chat at cha later! Bev
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteA marvellous twofer. Your colouring and shading is superb as is your cutting out.
Lovely family snaps. The boys are getting so big now.
Hope they found the eggs before they melted.
You take care.
Ang x
Lovely photos of eggs hunting. :-) Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI like very much your spring walk card. Great colouring ad a super nice stamp. Also birthday cake is fabulous. I can easy understand, why you have to had this stamp.:-))
Have a great day! Hugs,
Sonja
The twins are getting big!!!! I love the helmet/hat/planter--very fashionable. I wonder if it will catch on around here? As for the belt.... I bought one awhile ago thinking I should try to be a little more couth. Today I realized that's just crazy talk. Those things are so annoying and people need to learn to deal with my droopy drawers.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, by the way. Nice gardening themes to perk up my day!
These are PRETTY cards!! Love the little wispy greens with the flowers and you've colored that cake perfectly! Cute family photos. And that PP hat, wow those boys have some skills!! Thank you SO MUCH for the lovely card you sent ~ HUGS!!
ReplyDeleteOh, oh, oh, oh, oh - I am BLOWN AWAY by the beauty of your cards today. They are SO lovely, Miss Darnell. You rocked those Ziggies! Thanks for sharing the fun Easter photos. Those are definitely two handsome twinlets.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful card Darnell and beautifully colored. Loved seeing your family Easter pics. Thanks so much for linking up and playing with us at Time Out.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty cards today! I'm not sure which I covet more, pink bunny Keds or a paper-pieced hat. Oh, who am I kidding, I want the Easter chocolate. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove your two cards - but that first one is my favorite!! SO pretty! Love those bunny shoes, too LOL Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a nice Easter, but I am disappointed no puppy dog pictures! Can't believe the helmet--what a great kiddo project! Really love your cards, especially the first one which is just gorgeous! You're making magic with your Zigs, Darnell!
ReplyDeleteYour cards both look beautiful and so sunny! Love the pink flowers on both! You see more and more flowers on (wedding)cakes so that is a real modern stamp!
ReplyDeleteSounds like happy Easterdays! Here it was quiet; our daughter left on sunday for a week to the UK with school and will be back tomorrow... So it was a verry early eastersunday for us :) Thanks for joining us at Time out again! Hugs, Gerrina
Two gorgeous cards ..... beautiful colouring on the first one and doesn't that cake look deee-licious!!
ReplyDeleteLove a good egg hunt and it looks like your little munchkins had fun xx
You've certainly mastered those ziggies and worked them perfectly on both cards. Can't pick a favourite but as always thanks for playing with us at LIM. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards Darnell, especially love the first with that oh so pretty flower stamp.
ReplyDeleteHa ha I wonder how many eggs got hidden way out of reach only for granny to find later? xx
Oh the cards are charming Darnell, they are sophisticated and CAS.
ReplyDeleteThe boys are growing, will they be in jr. high? Yikes that is scary. Stay healthy you two. You had rain and here it was 78. :)
Hi Darnell : )
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet cards but I love seeing your kids more and all the fun you have on your "estate" : ) The twins are getting so big! gees where does the time go huh?
BIG (((Hugs))) friend. Be seeing more of you soon.
Patti
Darnell what a gorgeous recreation of our CTS Sketch!!! Lovely blooms, and a wonderful share of your Easter - how I wish I could have a bowl of that soup!!! xx
ReplyDelete=]
AWESOME POST! AWESOME PICTURES! AWESOME CARDS!
ReplyDeleteI love the beautiful pink (or red) posies and the fun colors on the HB cake ...but it's the pics of the twinks that steal the show here...they are SO DARN CUTE!!!
Whoops! Hit the dang post button too quick! Want to add that the flower pot helmet rocks and that the boys have amazing hair!!!
ReplyDeleteWhoa Darnell, those cards are so beautiful!! I'm thinking they almost rival the real blooms you have in your garden..and they last longer too. As for belts...they're over-rated (unless you need one to hold your pants up). Glad you had a wonderful Easter, and even ended up with two fancy new hats for spring. You really should have shown us a close up of those Easter Keds though...so we don't have to simply imagine them. I'm imagining them with actual bunny ears on them..
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are so pretty, but I'm really liking the inlaid oval design on #1. Now that is cool! The bday cake looks quite yummy as well, and you hit the mark with pink & green for both these winners. So enjoyed seeing the piccies, and my, aren't those boys growing! They're gonna be talllll! Glad you had a nice Easter, and it is easy to see that crafting is in the genes at your house! TFS & Big hugs.
ReplyDeleteWell aren't those boys just the handsomest of boys! (is that a word ... handsomest)?
ReplyDeleteLove to see your photos and your cards are fabulous ... In fact I'm a little miffed... when I saw your CAS watercolour card I just knew you had blown mine outta the water! Lol! Thanks so much for the email ... I'm only just back from Lincoln but I'll be in touch. XXX
HI Darnell,
ReplyDeleteso glad you had a brill Easter.
Looks like good fun was had by all.
Your cards are so wonderful and the first is awesome those lovely stamped flowers and your colouring is ace.
I quite agree about your second card that is a very handy stamp and die to own as it has so many uses.
Love the wonderful card you have created with it.
Love and big crafty hugs from my house to yours. Jenny L.
I love the concord & 9 cake card. Beautifully coloured.
ReplyDeleteHeHe it does look like they are hunting not hiding eggs. Looks like you had a great day and the boys are creative. When my kiddos are bored or need distraction I give them a cleaning cloth - they soon find something else to do or they clean! It's a win win.
Beautiful cards and such fun pix!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Em xoxox
Love the delicate blooms and the luscious cake! Looks like your Easter was wonderful. Thanks for sharing pictures!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers among the greenery! But the cake steals the show! And yoru easter egg hunt looks like a lot of fun! Those boys - quite creative - runs in the family, obviously!
ReplyDeleteTwo stunners! LOVE those flowers and the inlaid die for the sentiment looks awesome amongst the grasses. As for that cake, wooahhh that's fabulous. Not seen that one in blogland yet (I'm a bit behind the times and trying to be good and ignore things that will make my purse lighter!). Love your Easter pics, looks like you all had lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing with us at Less is More, Hugs Anita xx
Gorgeous flowers Darnell, such pretty cards. Great Easter pics too, the boys are getting so big! Cathy x
Two beautiful cards Darnell, love that cake!!! Great family photos too, Charlie and Phoebe loved the egg hunt too! 🐣
ReplyDeleteVal x
Both of your cards are beautiful, Darnell. Love that you switched the butterflies for flowers for Time Out. And, your birthday cake card is scrumptious, as are your twinlets. Thanks so much for playing along at Time Out.
ReplyDeleteToo fun!
ReplyDeleteYou're a hoot as usual Darnell!! Your posts always bring a smile to my face.....oh......and I love both your cards too. xx
ReplyDeleteSounds as though your Easter was just wonderful, Darnell ... are you sure Rachel and Dan didn't munch even a smidge of the eggs they were hiding ... the boys' baskets don't look as full as Dan's was!! Both your cards are beautiful ... that luscious lemony cake with the softly tumbling flowers is just scrumptious! Flowers instead of butterflies at Time Out ... yes, most certainly (you can say that out loud in my accent!) ... those sweet blooms are drifting so gently in the breeze, they could be delicate butterflies on slender stems! Gorgeous! Thanks so much for playing along with us, my friend! LYAMYLHAHSWYWU! Hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteOh my Auntie, your cards are just beautiful! I love those flowers in the first card, and that cake, oh goodness, I think I gain 10lbs just looking at it! What a beautiful job you did coloring both the flowers and the cake! Loved seeing the Easter pics and yes, it does look like the adults are looking for eggs. lol Love it! Also love seeing the twins and your pink shoes! lol Those twins are really getting tall! And from the looks of it, they are really good with pattern paper! haha! Great pics Auntie! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteDarnell, Beautiful spring cards. And I so loved the pics of your festivities. On the first card I really enjoyed seeing the double layer of stitched outlines, it is very eye catching, and I'll have to remember that technique. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those two beautiful cards and those fabulous stamps you took off Mt NBUS! My pile needs purging again ~ well, it's kinda always needing purging cause I keep adding to it :-(
ReplyDeleteLooks like Easter was a huge success with your wonderful family, Darnell! Thanks for sharing the photos with us.
Two fabulous cards Darnell and it looks as though you had a great Easter. Ours was quiet just us two but we had already had two birthdays - Roy's 70th followed a week later by Michael's (my youngest) 33rd. And the week after David (my eldest) came for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely cards, and it looks like it was a fun Easter Egg hunt. I took my camera to my daughter's house on Easter to take some family pictures...but,
ReplyDeleteguess what? I remembered the camera...but forgot to take the memory card out of the computer!
