Hearts and Furballs

Hello, Stamplings!

Welcome to the first day of June! I'm not going to waffle on about how that doesn't seem possible. As people more profound than me have often said, "It is what it is." Even when it defies the laws of space and time compendiums. Or something.

So what often happens during the month of June?

Weddings!

And what follows weddings, all thing going well?

Anniversaries!
This card is a deviation from my new course of creating whereby I am trying to use mostly NBUS and make cards inspired by my talented bloggie friends. What happened was, Hammy has been away on his own hols up north when the Mister and I headed south. We had to send him off to his relatives because of the logicalities and rules on the Channel Islands, you understand.

So anyway, he's missed a few posts and even though I told him how it's going to be, he forgot and started leafing through the challenges looking for ideas, like we used to do. He was very becited to find this photo challenge at Just Us Girls:
because he knew we had all the ingredients to make the cookie heart on the left. BUS items are the Nestabilities heart, the Memory Box flourish die, and the "congratulations" from Your Next Stamp. NBUS items are the YNS "on your anniversary" part of the sediment and the course glitter from Martha which I've had since ages ago.

I'm also entering this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which is Anything Goes.
~~~
I was also going to enter my card above in the current Less Is More challenge, which is shimmer, but I thought my card might be a bit too-too for LIM, so I made another OLC with a lot more white space. Well, I mean, it's all white, innit, but I mean to say this one has more uncluttered white space.
It looks like I put the first card in the laundry and it shrunk, doesn't it?! 😄
~~~

I'd like to say we are all back to normal, but now I've got a very jealous hamster on my hands due to our dog-sitting these two furballs this week:
Two absolute loves! That's Fire, a Chesapeake Bay Retreiver, on the left who owns our niece, Katherine, and Cisco, a Havanese on the right, who owns the Mister's sister. You've seen him here before, but this is the first time we've had the pleasure of Fire.

Here we are ready to walk! (Sorry it's a little blurry. The pups were holding still, but the Mister was squirmy.)
Okay, I gotta go. Someone is sulking on top of his wheel and needs a little attention!

~~~
Enjoy your day!  No, seriously, enjoy!  LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower!  Please let me know you came by so I can be sure to return the flavor!
  2. It does look like you put the first card in the laundry - lol, but it is equally as beautiful as the second card, I can just imagine how beautiful that shimmer looks in real life!
    Wow, you are going to have a busy week, both dogs are gorgeous - I just love the face on the wee one, he is adorable. Mister will certainly get a lot of attention with that sling! We are off for a couple of days, on a little adventure, will write soon! Big hugs, Annie xxx
  6. A pair of beauties, and the cards ain't bad either!!! ;-) Nah, tearing my eyes off those gorgeous dogs for a moment, your cards are STUNNING. Thew white-on-white look is so classy and elegant. I actually think your first card would have been fine as the white keeps such a clean feel, but having seen the adorable "shrunk" version I'm very happy you made both <3 Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More :)
    Love the cute doggies too, Max didn't want to go for a walk first thing, he was obviously waiting for the heat of the day, well he is half Chihuahua. :)
  18. Both card are gorgeous, the large and shrunken. I love how you used the flourish die and the font for the congratulations is one of my favorites. I'm not completely familiar with the rules of the Channel Islands but I will take your word for it since you always research those things for us. I'm sure Hammy enjoyed his holiday but is glad to be home. The dogs are so sweet. My neighbor has two Havanese and they are so adorable. Mister will be the center of attraction walking these two.
  22. These heart designs are both gorgeous Darnell and the wow with just black for the sentiment is so elegant and pretty. The two little friends (well one little and one not so little) you are 'sitting' at the moment are really cute and I love the doggy papoose for Cisco, a great idea when his little legs get tired. x
  23. Two absolutely stunning and elegant cards. Poor Hammy having his nose out of joint! Maybe you could get Hubby to wear a little hat when you go for walks and tie a little chair on the brim for Hammy!? Okay, I'll go and take my tablets and have a lie down....
    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh yeah...weddings. I remember those and, clearly, you do too. Both these cards came out perfectly...it's obvious what inspired you and the representation you made of that cookie is really lovely. Small or large it stands out beautifully.
    I'm sorry Hammy is sulking, though...any new introduction into a household can cause some rifts. But maybe he'll make friends with the rifts before they have to go home. I wouldn't count on it...
  28. I love both versions of your anniversary cards. White on white is always so elegant looking and you certainly pulled off the CAS look in both I think. I grant you the second one is a bit more CAS with its more open look. And, I love the white linen card stock. That gives lots of texture to the cards.
  29. Love both of your cards Darnell! Especially the way you divided the heart! Fantastic job and love the fur babies too! It's always a pleasure having you in our gallery at Just Us Girls....Thanks for being with us!
  32. Both of these cards are so elegant, Darnell! Hammy did a fine job leading you astray! I really love how you've decorated both hearts. I'm going to need to CASE you, my friend! Enjoy the pups! Hope your Mister doesn't get his back all agitated from backpacking a pooch.
  33. Two hearts beat as one eh! so two beautiful heart creations, love the way you have done both half different, sparkle for the Lady and the fine lines for the male.
    Cute little doggy and I would go walking more if someone wold carry me like that, must say that Fire looks very jealous.
    Two truly gorgeous cards and definite examples of less being so much more. Such an expanse of white would scare me (a similar effect when I see my stomach lol!)
    The dawgies are soooo cute and the Mr has a fine set of pins.
  37. I love both of this, such fabulous work! Your comment about "shrinking" the first card design made me giggle. :) I love all the different textures and details. Your dog companions seem to be well behaving and totally cute too! Enjoy having them over! Thanks for joining us at Less Is More!
  38. It certainly looks like a shrinkage problem! Love them both. Stunning cards.
    I laughed when I saw Cisco in the sling, must really be a fur baby :) Have a fab time with your house guests.
  43. Very pretty white-on-whites, Darnell. Great design for weddings and anniversaries. Looks like you've got a veritable zoo at your house! I happen to have my daughter's three cats and two hamsters at my house, too. Plus my daughter, her husband and three grands. Talk about zoo! The hamsters aren't much help in the crafting department. I've asked and asked, and they just ignore me. Go figure.
  44. Oh how I love the puppy dog pictures--thanks for sharing them, Darnell! Your cards are stunningly beautiful! I never would have thought to use the MB flourish that way--& in fact, I almost never use it, so thanks for the inspiration!
  45. Love how you shrunk the first card to make the second, Darnell!! They are both so fabutastic! Soooo good to hear Hammy is back with you, albeit a bit green eyed with the other fur-babies in residence. I do love how Cisco goes for his walk :-).
  66. Great cards! First very elegant, perfect for the wedding anniversary. The second card I love for 100% CAS. Wonderful, you kept you convention CAS, while smuggling everything that was contained in the first card. Two different cards, and I have the impression that it is the twin cards.
    Hugs, have a nice Sundayy.
  67. The dog in that carrier on your dh is too funny!!! Love your pretty cards with the monochromatic white. The way you created the hearts is fantastic with that glitter. White on white is a favorite of mine. I think sometimes you just cannot use mostly NBUS. Then all your other stuff won't feel loved!!
    ReplyDelete
  68. Both cards are beautiful! I bet you had great fun looking after those gorgeous doggies, even though Hammy was sulking! The photo of the mister and the doggies is so funny with the little one in the carrier! Love it! xxx
  69. Congrats on your win with this absolutely gorgeous anniversary card, Darnell. Just don't leave it laying around where Hammy can try to take a bite out of it. ;)
  70. Hate to say I told hou so but I did say this was a winner. Muse obviously thought so, too. Congratulations.
  71. WOW! Two gorgeous shimmery heart cards, my friend, for those fortunate to have happily ever afters! Your house guests are adorable! How beautiful is Fire; how cuddly-furry sweet, Cisco! And the photo of the Mister...oh gosh! I. Can't. Even. Hahahahahah...he's such a good sport!
  72. Hellooooo, it's me! I've been working my way backwards through your posts to see all the lovely cards (and words of wisdom) I've missed, and enjoying each one, but those doggies have stopped me in my tracks - and the sling! Awww :)
    Love the cards too, especially the ultra-CAS version. I think I'll have to CASE that :)
    ReplyDelete
  73. Two very pretty cards, and I love the shrunken second one as much as the first. I am so bad at white space, so I admire anyone that can make such pretty cards with so much white - it's a real skill! Love that little hammock thing the Mister has on his back - how clever! Hugs, Lisa x
