Hi there, Stamplings!
Some of you from other continents have already seen my card today. Oops! My friend Cat thought it was odd that I posted a "naked" post with no words (you think?!) and Maxine figured (correctly) that Hammy pushed the publish button 24 hours early. What can I say? We've been out of town for a few days and you know how that goes, it takes a while to figure out what day it is when you get home!
Anywaddle, I'm back posting on the right day and I'm delighted to be guest designing again for Just Us Girls ~ or JUGS for short! This week is Trend Week and we want you to "Bring on the SHINE!"
Here is my inspiration card for you:

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

Anywaddle, I'm back posting on the right day and I'm delighted to be guest designing again for Just Us Girls ~ or JUGS for short! This week is Trend Week and we want you to "Bring on the SHINE!"
Here is my inspiration card for you:
I gold-embossed the Helenium flower stamp from designer Shery Russ of STAMPlorations. It was a gift from Loll ~ thank you again, Lolly! I watercolored with my Ziggies. The cross-stitched borders are from Memory Box.
You might wonder what the deal is with all those score lines. So what happened was I used some Washi tape to attach the cross-stitch die to my watercolor paper before running it through the Big Shot. Mind you, I did this AFTER the embossing and painting! You can imagine my horror when I removed the panel from the BS and saw that the two pieces of tape had left visible marks on my super clean white panel!
Swear words ensued. (I have to say, if you've never seen a hamster swearing, it is a pretty funny sight. I have a hard time staying angry for too long.) Once the outburst died down, Hammy looked at me and I looked at him and we both looked down at the panel in disrepair. Minutes passed. Then we did the only thing we could do when it's too early in the day for wodka. We took a nap.
Score pad to the rescue! I mean, score pads were created in part for covering up boo-boos, right?! The bottom lines looked like they were meant to be there, but putting lines in the upper left corner? I wasn't sure it would work, but at that point I had nothing to lose and, heck, trends get started this way, right?
Here is a closeup to see all the shimmery shine!
And here is this week's challenge badge for you:
The Design Team ladies have created more inspiration to get your mojo juices flowing, so please check them out at Just Us Girls!!
Most of us add some shine to all our creations these days whether it be sequints, or glossy accents, or winking with Stella, or enamel dots, or Nuvo drops, or gems ... somebody slap me! You get the idea. There's no excuse not to play this week and I can't wait to see your beautiful entry!
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

Well I did wonder where your usual words of wisdom and amusement were to accompany this gorgeous flower. Love your explanation about the score lines, aren't we a resourceful lot eh??
When I first saw the picture, before I read your explanation, I really thought your design was very clever, I love those embossed line... I still think it was clever and perfect to draw the eye in to the flower (which is gorgeous !). The 'x' edging is beautiful too. All in all, a very happy accident! Thank you for always making me smile when I read your posts too! Big hugs, Annie xxx
This is just stunning Darnell, love the sheet elegance of the no fuss design. Note to self - gold embossing looks fab.

Sheer elegance even !!
I do remember having seen your card before in my blog list but had not spotted the empty post. Love the double stitched border around your bold and bright flower, and the rescue score lines do work amazingly well. I wouldn't be surprised if you did set a new trend.
Hugs, Marianne x
Gorgeous card Darnell! I often have the same mishap and never thought to do score lines!! Thanks for the tip... Clever you! I hope you have a lovely weekend...Hubby is fine, just awaiting results.
I love the story as well as your beautiful card! I will have to remember to score to fix some oops. The scoring is perfect and well balanced
Until you explained, I thought those awesome score lines were meant to be there. I think you are likely to be a trendsetter on this one. :-) Gorgeous card, Darnell!
Well I would never have known! An absolutely gorgeous card Darnell. Love all that shimmer and the touch of texture is perfect!
Gorgeous watercolouring on this pretty flower, Dolly. LOVE the colours you've used and the shine really lifts it from the page. Great save with the scoring ... very clever of you and Hammy to figure that out! Lolly xx
Stunningly elegant card Darnell, and I thought that the scored lines were part of the design at first, not a cover up, well it has worked soooo well, and makes a change from a butterfly or a gem to usual go to for mistook. Love image and colours and love the gold embossing on the flowers, beautifully matted and layered. Love it, Kate x
Beautiful card!!
I did admire this card the other day with it's wonderful glitz and shine Darnell and adore the double cross stitched matting and layering over that gorgeous pink base card which matches the colour of the flower so beautifully. Those score lines look as though they were meant to be and were fated to be there as they look perfect with the design, certainly a happy accident. I did think your post was a little precised for you and great to have episode two with the full monty...lol. Hope you had a good few days away too. x
I left a comment yesterday on this post so wont bore you with repeating it ...Congratulations on guest designing x
The way you've matted this pretty bloom is perfect Darnell! Would never have known you had a booboo, great save!
I've noticed the problem with the tape too, Darnell, and your save was a great solution. I think we all need to score more. That big bloom is just gorgeous with it's color and shine.
Its A Beautiful card..the gold embossed flowet takes all the attention ,i didn't even notice the boboo ;)
Great recovery with the scored lines, Darnell!! They look great! I love this card - the die-cuts are awesome and your coloring is so beautiful.
This is just beautiful, Darnell! I love all that shimmery shine. And your coloring is perfect. Card makers are nothing if not inventive when it comes to covering our mistakes, and you have done it perfectly here. I love the score lines, they add so much to the design. Well done, my dear!!!
This is stunning my friend ... the gold embossing really does shine and that gorgeous bloom is coloured beautifully. Great save too with the embossed lines. xx
Well, it came out beautiful, Darnell--great job with the rescue! Love your coloring & those stitched mats are really neat--wonderful card & congrats again on being the GD!
Beautiful and I like that new trend you are setting! It really is gorgeous and I love how the score lines add interest to an already amazing card! So glad you are GD at JUGS this month!
You and Hammy rock the cover up! I love how the flower is coloured, a beautiful card x
Scoring did the trick. Kept it clean & added just enough additional texture but the bloom is awe inspiring. All that shimmering color...makes me swoon.
You're just a trend settin' kinda gal! I like it! Ohhhh, that flower is so pretty, especially in the close up where the shine shows itself off!
Wow, this is stunning!! The flower looks amazing!! I love the colors!! You covered the boo boos perfectly - I love the score lines!! Stunning, Darnell!! Have a great weekend!! Big hugs :)

I think your card is beautiful and never would have known you were covering boo-boo's if you hadn't said so. Love the shine and coloring of your flower! Hugs!
It's gorgeous, Darnell! Everything looks like you intended this design from the beginning. You certainly "scored" a winner with this save!!

Beautiful, Darnell and I love the score lines. They look fantastic. I always forget about using them. Your gold embossed flower is beautifully water colored.
Yes I also saw this yesterday but didn't mention it as I guessed what Hammy had done!
This is a really super card, love the gold embossing and the gorgeous colours of the flower. I love the
background dies and the plain lines look classy.

What a lovely card!
Gorgeous card, Darnell! The white texture adds interest without detracting from the beautiful flower. I've had the same lines left from tape - great save!
Such a pretty card with that hot pink and that pretty shiny gold well done
Magnificent card, so bright and shiny!! The score lines are a brilliant touch, and if you haven't tell us on your boo-boo, we never would have known it! Congrats for your GD, so well deserved!
Beautiful card Darnell with that gold embossing and lovely right flower. as for boo...boos?? can't see any and i think your embossed lines look brilliant...new trend setter Darnell!
This is one stunning card today with the brilliant color of the flower and all of it's shine! The score lines look like perfection, an nobody would even guess they're there to mask a boo-boo! Nicely done :)
If you hadn't revealed about a boo boo I would not have known. That was a great save and I love the shine you added to your card. The colors and design are gorgeous.
Congratulations on the Guest Designing! Love the vibrant colours, the shine, the beautiful flower, and the save-the-day scoring!
Your score pad solution is brilliant! Even the one in the corner looks like it was meant to be! I'm glad you thought of that (or was it Hammy?)! Love the gold embossing and striking color combo, as well as those cross-stitched borders!
Welcome home Auntie!!! Love this beautiful card too. Still no Internet here. Sigh hugs, Brenda
Great save, Darnell. Mwah 😙
HA! HA! Yes Darnell I was one that saw this beautiful card 'early' lol. Time differences can be tricky and I have done this also. I have that flower in my wish list after seeing your card. I thought I had it but alas not! Next order. Beautifully embossed shine and coloured. Awesome!
Gorgeous heat embossed and zigs colored flower, Darnell. Love the sentiment, cross stitched borders and your boo boo cover ups too. TFS my friend. Hugs..
Kudos to you and Hammy for coming up with the very best solution for covering up a boo boo. I never would have known, and I would definitely have believed it was the newest trend in card beautification. In fact, I've stored that little idea in my memory bank (hope it doesn't fall through any of those holes up there) and plan to use it on a card very soon. Hope you're enjoying your weekend.
Love the golden touch! Thank you so much for stopping by Darnell :-)
Wonderful card - and I don't mind repeating it. As for the washi tape marks - a great cover-up with the embossed lines!! I am glad hammy got over the naughty words quickly...
Hugs and blessings
Maxine
Wonderful card, love the gorgeous flowers and if you hadn't of told us we would never have known the score lines were there to cover a booboo...I think they look fab and really add to the design :)
Hugs Kaz xx
A magnificient card. The gold embossing sets of the vibrant colours beautifully. The score lines look intentional and quite inspired.
When I first saw your gorgeous card, I thought what a great idea to do the embossed scorelines this way, adds lovely detail. Then I read it was to cover up a boo-boo! It was obviously meant to be that the washi tape marked your card! xx
Your flower looks stunning! What a great inspiration for the new challenge and great to see your card there aswell! Hugs, Gerrina
Lovely shine Darnell~and the score lines add so much (even if the intention was to cover up boo boos :) )
Y'all left Hammy alone didn't you? Poor little wee one. I can see it now. He probably had a party while y'all were gone. He ate all junk food, he and his friends piled up in the 2nd vehicle and took it for a joy ride, snuck into a PG13 movie and only he knows what else he got into. [Bunny]
Ha ha you are so resourceful Darnell...you should have kept quiet, none of us would be any wiser. It's a really stunning card xx
Hey Sis! I just love all those edges and the gorgeous shine of the gold embossing on that beautiful bloom! hope you are having a great summer - it is starting to slip away!! Julia xx
This is a beautiful flower, Dolly! Love, love, love those score lines, especially that the top ones are diagonal instead of horizontal! Brilliant!
Well rescued Darnell...we would never have known and I am so glad that Hammy swerved the wodka...you do make me laugh!! A lovely card xx
Beautifully done Darnell. Many oopsies easily pass for hreat or unusual strokes of genius. Love the creativity of your card.
Love, Hugs, Blessings

Beautiful card, Darnell. All those "adjustments" looked like they were meant to be that way. Great save. Love the gold embossing and the bright colour. And congrats on GD at JUGS. 👏🎉👏 Shine should be easy, so hoping to play along. 😁 Trina xx
A beautiful card I love the colour, the score lines are a great cover up I would never have known I must remember my score board in the future. XXx
The card looks as if everything was planned and thought out. I would never guess that it was the result of a disaster :-) The glare of the golden embossing is stunning and in conjunction with this beautiful red it bounces to the knees. I love this card, my friend :-)
Hugs,
BożenA
Gold embossing is something I don'r do nearly enough! Such a pretty card Darnell! I love the way to added score lines to the framed area around the flower! Super job with our Trend this week! Looking forward to next weeks post!
Beautiful card! Love the colours and the gorgeous gold embossing - the embossed lines look really cool! Hugs xxxxxxc
Such a pretty card. Love the solution - Great new trend I think.
Such a pretty card!! I love how you've covered up the marks. Love the gold embossing. So pretty.
I really like the score lines!! And love you cover up mistakes-I always do too..too lazy to start again. The richness of the gold with the colours is stunning, love this card Darnell x
So beautiful and sunny, Darnell.

Love the beautiful flower and the fabulous shine of the embossing. Your embossed lines look perfect to me and as though they were meant to be all along xx
Your shimmery, shiny bloom is just beautiful, Darnell ... the watercolouring is outstanding ... such a great sense of depth and dimension! No wonder you and Hammy were in disrepair after the BS disaster ... but that nap sure did the trick ... you both came up with a brilliant idea for fixing it ... those score lines were meant to be there! LYAMYMAAIOYAEM ... S! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
Congratulations on your guest design spot Darnell! And a very striking card. Really LOVE the gold embossing and ziggie colours, so perfect together. And the scored lines are great!! I am always getting washi indents on my cards and I usually shove a sentiment over them or something like sequins but scored lines is such a great idea. Add to "useful tips from Darnell" in my little note book.... you absolutely crack me up with your wodka and nap comments. You are good for the soul! Lisa xx
Darnell, your descriptions crack me up! You certainly bring light to my day--YOU shine! Anyway, I love your card. The way you painted it looks fantastic.
That's one gorgeous flower, Darnell. I love how you "saved" the card with your embossed lines. They look really cool. You always make me laugh - love reading your commentary!
Thank you for the inspiration and for being my first follower x
Super sparkly card, and what a clever idea to put the score lines in Must remember that! xx
Hi Darnell
Oh my, doesn't this shine, shine and thrice shine. Beautiful!!!
I hate it when low tack tape leaves a mark (also causes me to utter the odd cuss) but genius idea to hoik out the scoreboard. Equally genius to add the corner scoring. Very avant garde.
I was in Birmingham lunching with friends yesterday and stood looking wistfully at the Handmade Burger Company, remembering our our meet up last year............happy days!!!
Best wishes.
Ang x
This card is stunning, Darnell! Love the embossed flower and those score lines make for a fabulous design :-)
I am feeling bad at me neglecting your blog for so long!! Bad Nora!! I have missed some beauties and I HATE that!! This card is amazing with the gold embossing. I like that you chose that pinky color for the flower as it is gorgeous!! I also like how you covered up your mistake. One reason why I tend to stamp, die cut and THEN color because this has happened to me MANY times!!! Ugg!! I get so made when i take all that time and mistakes happen!! LOVE your cover up. Wouldn't have had a clue that this was a cover up if you hadn't ratted on yourself!!
