NBUS Challenge #12 ~ Day One!

WELCOME!!

Let's get right to it! We've been doing this for FOUR years now, if you can believe it! If this is your first time, here's what you need to know.

Anything Goes!
(As long as it has NBUS!)

12:05 a.m. PST on September 24, 2017 to
11:55 p.m. PST on October 4, 2017

  • You must use a NBUS item on your creation and indicate what it is. It doesn't matter if it is old or new, although that old virginal schtuff would really like some attention!
  • This challenge is a thank you to my followers, so to be eligible for a prize, please join via the blue button on my side bar to your right where all the happy little faces are! If the button says "Follow," you have not followed me; you click it to join and follow the prompt in the popup window. If it says "Unfollow," you are already a follower and you don't need to do anything! Thank you!
  • Include a link back to here in your post.
  • Please enter only four other challenges in addition to this one, for a total of five.
  • You may enter a total of three times. New work only please.
  • Link up your creation using the Inlinkz button at the bottom of this challenge in the usual way.
  • HAVE FUN!!
For more detailed rule information and instructions for how you enter if you don't have a blog, please click HERE

My card.

Mother Nature has put us through a few rough weeks with fires and floods and earthquakes and wind all around the world, so I will be focusing on HUMOR with my NBUS cards for this challenge.

I love snarky sediments and have accumulated a few over the years, but they can be hard to use for specific challenges or events, so this will give them an opportunity to feel some inky love and hopefully bring you some smiles!
Is this perfect for opening day of this challenge, or what??!!

I can't remember now where I first saw this hysterical sediment, but I had to have it immediately. It is from Simon Says Stamp. The little crazy stamping lady ("Mad Stamper") is from Uptown Design, and the "Life is Good!" border is simply a double layer of Washi tape from Mike's.

I can't wait to see the amazing creations you make and enter below using one or more item of Never-Before-Used-Schtuff!! Thank you very much for participating and for being incredible followers and supporters and friends! Your friendship and your encouraging comments keep me going! MWAH!

If you have any questions, please use the Contact Me form on the side bar or email darnell dot knauss at gmail dot com.

[All prizes are donated by me personally, except for #18.]

  • Five (5) Gift Certificates of Winner's Choice to any USA company!
  • These new stamp sets and dies:
6. Build A Blossom (SU!)
7. Small Circle Burst (Memory Box)
8. Fringe Circle (Memory Box)
9. Elegant Weeds (Hero Arts Clings)
10. Madison Avenue (SU!)
11. Distress Oxides (unopened) ~ set of five
12. Shadow Play (Altenew)
13. Uplift (Skipping Stones)
14. Tasty Trucks (SU!)
15. Wish You Were Here (Lawn Fawn)
16. Tin of Cards (SU!)
17. Borders and Backgrounds 3 (WPlus9)
18. And last, but not least, this new PTI "Holiday Greens" stamp and die set donated by my friend, Linda Snodgrass of Lin's Craft CornerThank you, Lin!

Selection of WinnersBecause you are all my friends, I could never select one of you over another, so I will use Dr. Random and Mrs. Dot Org to choose the prize winners by random drawing. They will work tirelessly around the clock, with Hammy providing beverages to keep them highdrated.

Feel free to let me know in your comment which prize you prefer if you're a winner. I will post the winners as soon as possible.

Enjoy the challengeNo, seriously, enjoy!

Viscous Circle Warning: Participating in the NBUS challenges will diminish your stash of NBUS! Yay! Unfortunately, because part of participating in the NBUS challenges is visiting the other gallery entries and leaving comments, you will find yourself experiencing severe PE (Product Envy). This, in turn, will cause you to purchase more NBUS and your stash will grow.

  12. Bwahahahahahaha!! What a great card! Pretty sure most of us have at one time or another put our hair up, left our boobs down, and spent the day crafting in our jammies. Perfect way to start your NBUS #12 Challenge. You know I HAD to play along. You're too special in this craft world for me not to! Have a wonderful and fun week peeking at all our goodies. Miss you tons. xoxo Bev

  14. Fabulous card, Darnell, thanks for the giggle!

Great to have another NBUS Challenge. It's a good excuse to spend extra time in my craftroom, digging out those long forgotten NBUS things we all have, as well as use recently purchased things before they too turn into vintage NBUS items. Thank you for giving away all these lovely crafty prizes.

I would love to win any of the crafty prizes, although gift certificates are hard to spend from the UK, as those nasty little Customs and Royal Mail people add on HUGE charges before they let us have our goodies! Number 7, the Small Circle Burst (Memory Box) would slip nicely into an envelope for crossing The Pond. ;-) xx

  35. Hello Darnell,
When you 3 days ago mentioned the next challenge, NBUS was clearly alive, despite the fact that recently I barely survived (endless cold with sinusitis). You know how to make others happy! Thanks a lot, Darnell. Your card as always filled with humor, I love you for it :-)
If I have the option to choose a prize, then I would prefer to use the voucher to make in the store. But great joy also gave me the prize No. 9. Great thanks for the opportunity to play. But Darnell you know well that it's not prizes that mobilize us to take part in your challenges. This is your incredible personality. Big hugs,
    BozenA

  38. I can't believe you are hosting NBUS Challenge #12!
You are incredible, my friend! I think I have been stacking my new crafty goods since #11 ~ this Mt. NBUS is about to avalanche! I am definitely joining your parteee, fingers crossed I don't get buried beforehand!
Love your fun card and always enjoy a chuckle or two when I visit the Playhouse, Darnell :-) XOXO

    ReplyDelete
  39. Eeek!!! The Mad Stamper strikes again! I don't know how you even found that hilarious sentiment, but what better way to start out your NBUS challenge. Crazy hair flying, bunny slippers on and boobs at the ready...I'm in. I've been reorganizing my craft room (a weekly occurrence) and came across some NBUS that I've tucked into a basket so I can't wait. I'll be concentrating on using old (as in ancient) embellishments and papers this time around because even old things need love. As I qualify for an "old thing", I'll give myself a big hug and go off to craft.
What wonderful prizes...oh my. My favorites would be the Distress Oxides, one of the GC's, the Memory Box Circle burst die (so intriguing) or the Shadow Play stamp set by Altenew (really unique).
Any of those prizes would be treasured though, and would be welcome.
Thanks for always bringing a smile to my face and being such an encouraging presence.

  40. What a fun card and I sure got a giggle from that sentiment. And, that is a fantastic gal doing her jumping routine. So glad you shared it cuz a good laugh is what everyone needs these days. I had just pulled out a set I had not used since purchasing it for another challenge and since it fit the bill for this NBUS one I decided to enter it here too. It seems I never run out of Never Before Used Schtuff. LOL Always an ample supply in my stash. Thanks again for this challenge as it is a motivating thing for me to use my supplies. And, I must say you have some awesome prizes as well. You are very generous.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow, what great prizes you have gathered for this challenge. I have been waiting for it ever since you announced the date on your blog.
Love the snarky sentiment on your cute card.

    ReplyDelete
  42. What a way to kick of the latest NBUS challenge, Darnell. That lady looks just like me, big mouth, blonde hair, all excited although I do try to keep the boobs up where they belong. ;) I've been using NBUS right along but I have a few kept in reserve just for you. I'd love #13, #18 or a GC if I'm lucky enough to be chosen from what I feel will be bazillions of entries. Thanks for inciting the NBUS riot and generously sharing your gift of humor with us.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh I LOVE your card! hahaha! Can't wait to see what everyone creates - thanks for hosting such a fun challenge!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yay for NBUS! Cute card that you created. Love the sentiment. NBUS is a good reminder to us to use the stuff we have before we buy one more thing. Thank you for the chance to win a lovely prize and all the time you're spending making us happy.

I am playing for prize #18 (thank you, Linda)[Bunny]

    ReplyDelete
  45. Dear darling Darnell, now I have linked. Regarding prizes, if I should be so lucky..... I have none of these items and would be grateful to receive any. That said, the distress oxides are top of my list, although maybe a gift certificate would be easier on your postage. I shall leave it up to you and keep everything crossed. Thanks so much for doing this. I would have joined the fun, prizes or not, cos you rock. Hugz

    ReplyDelete
  46. LOL--what a fun and funny card!! Hair's too short to put up, but the other, well....yes, gravity strikes! Haha!

Looking forward to the motivation to dig into my NBUS to join in your challenge! Such fantastic prizes you have! Were I to be so lucky, anything would be awesome (but not the Shadow Play stamps nor the Oxides, as I already have these.) Thanks for hosting a fun challenge and for the chance at some goodies! Hugs!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I have lots and lots of NBUS this time. I am playing along! Hair is too short to go up but boobs definitely go down! They are doing their job of keeping the wrinkles out of my face!

    ReplyDelete
  48. ooh Darnell! NBUS 12 is here at last! Yay! I have joined in already! I hope to join in again too! Your card is absolutely hilarious! The picture is fab and as for the sentiment, well, its the best ever! You are so generous offering such awesome prizes! A gift certificate would be my number one but would love any of them! Not the Oxides though as I have some so they would be much better going to someone who doesn't! However, the prizes are not the reason to join in - its just the pleasure and fun of being part of NBUS 12 with all the other oodles of lovely crafters who will also join in. You give us all so much fun and happiness and support us with your lovely visits, comments and friendship - its cool to be able to support your challenge! Luv n hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    ReplyDelete
  49. That looks just like me! Ready to go! Life is good and you make it even better, my friend! I couldn't wait to play along. If I should be so lucky as to win, I would love the GC. But I'd play just to play! (And have an excuse to break out some NBUS!)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Have to admit, I scratched my head when I saw that SSS stamp, but should have expected to see you use it--haha! That Washi tape is cool! So generous of you to give so many prizes, Darnell--thank you! I'd take a gc if the Random Dot Org couple pick me!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  54. It's NBUS time! Your fun card sets the tone for this challenge! Now let me go see if I have any NBUS - hahahaha! If Mr. Random should pick me a gift card or the Oxide Inks would be my top choices (don't have any DOIs yet.0

  62. Your generosity overwhelms me with these NBUS challenges! Your card is hilarious and I love that image and sentiment! Too funny and oh how I can relate!! LOL If I'm lucky enough to have my name come up for a prize, I'd love a gift certificate. I still don't have a Misti and that would help land one in my crafty little hands! Thank you SO much!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I love your fun card Darnell. The sentiment really made me laugh, and so great to have another NBUS challenge and thank you for the fab prizes. They are all great but would love the oxide inks as I don't have any yet, but quite understand if the postage is too astronomic to the UK, and would then love the MB Small Circle Burst die. x

    ReplyDelete
  64. Your card cracked me up! Loooooove it, Darnell! Thanks for hosting another NBUS challenge. If I'm lucky enough for Mr. and Mrs. Random Org to pick my number, I would love one of the GCs. 71. Hi Darnell, love, love your card! Happy to be joining in the fun again, I'm making a really determined effort to reduce my NBUS pile. The prizes are all great but as a SU demonstrator already have those, so would prefer a gift certificate if I was a winner. But hey it's not the winning it's the taking part! 😘

  73. Working on a couple of cards for NBUS - it's such a great challenge as it gets me to dig out those unused stamps!! If my name gets drawn, my first choice would be one of the gift certificates. After that, the Elegant Weeds (#9) or the Small Circle Bursts (#7).

Thank you so much for doing the NBUS challenge.

  81. Howdy, Darnell! Thanks for hosting again. I've been a follower here for quite some time, and always enjoying playing along. I am SO loving the thought of a gift card or the Tim Holtz Inks; but I'd be grateful at any rate if this is my lucky year. Several people will, no doubt, be very blessed. Personally, I just LOVE playing along and being encouraged to use my NBUS cuz (let's be honest)....we all have LOTS of it we need to use. Have a great week, and thanks again for hosting the NBUS challenges!

  83. WOW Darnell you are so funny...I loved the way you addressed Random org!!! I have been tackling my NBUS and managed to bring it down quite a bit...Planning to go shopping as soon as it is at a "less guilt" inducing number!! As for the prize...if I am lucky enough to win...anything will do . It is the playing which is important...the prize is just the icing on the cake!!

  88. Hi Darnell,
Thanks for a healthy dose of humor through your cards and your way of expressing yourself! It is a "picker-upper" to share some crafty fun and a few laughs after all the tragedies of late. Our area is recovering from Hurricane Harvey. We barely missed the flood, but so many of our neighbors have terrible messes. It feels good to be able to help.
Thanks for hosting a fun event.
    Blesings,
    Christine

  89. I absolutely LOVE your sense of humor Darnell and eagerly look forward to this challenge. This is the second or third time I have played along. I have never been fortunate to win a prize but if I did this time around I would love a gift card or those luscious oxide inks. Thank you for all the hard work you put into this challenge. Now I am off to comment on some of the fabulous other entries.

I (prob along with everyone else) am drooling over the idea of winning the Distress Oxides!! (slurp) A gift card (still chuckling over the last time!!) is always fabulous...and I also am intrigued with the HA Elegant Weeds. But I would be thrilled with any of your amazing gifts if I were so lucky to be one of your winners!!

  104. I'm so glad I finally had time to enter... Thanks for the bonus day! :) I've really enjoyed reading your posts and admiring your humorous cards during this challenge -it's been a wonderful event as it always is! If I'd be one of the lucky winners I'd love to win the PTI set your friend Linda has donated -PTI stamps are very hard to order to Finland due to their huge postage policy and then they get stuck in customs and you end up paying even more for them... So I'm keeping my fingers crossed! :) Thank you for the chance to win and your continuous inspiration! Amazing amount of prizes by the way -you are super generous!!
