Hello, Stamplings!
I want to let you know that I, The Mister, and Hammy, and the rest of the family, are all fine and not involved in the devastating fires happening very near us in northern California. We are only being impacted by the terrible smell and smoky haze. Thank you for your emails expressing your concern.
It has been heart-wrenching to see the destruction and loss of life. I know your praying knees are getting worn out with all the natural disasters of late, but if you can manage it, please pray for (or send positive thoughts to) those families who have been impacted and for the legions of fire-fighters working tirelessly to stop the inferno. Thank you.

I've gone a little fallish with my first card today. The flower and butterfly have warm orange and brown tones, but I kept it light by cutting the frame from the opposite side of the color wheel:
~~~
My twofer went all the way fall ... and we all fall down. Now you have a "Ring Around the Rosie" earworm. Sorry.
This is another favorite stamp of mine which I paint every year. It's rewarding to see how my skills have evolved. The stamp is "Fall Leaves" from Stamps Happen. The NBUS sediment stamp is "Scripty Holiday Greetings" from The Ton.
Before painting with my Ziggies, I heat-embossed the image in platinum.
This season is brief, but it certainly is colorful!
ETA: Reader and friend Lu C is very sharp-eyed! She left me a comment noticing that there is no "s" in the the word Thanksgiving on my card! Sure enough! I never even noticed! The plastic covering that comes with the stamps shows the word with an "s," so I was confounded until The Mister told me to look at the stamp itself. D'oh! When I held the stamp up to the light, I could see that the "s" is missing! I alerted The Ton and they immediately apologized and are sending a new set without the boo-boo. Thank you to them and thank you, Lu C!!
I've used this stamp from Rubbernecker before and even used very similar colors because I love the look. I used my Ziggies to ink directly to the stamp before spritzing and stamping onto watercolor paper. The NBUS square stitched frame die is from MFT and the stitched border is from Lil Inkers. The Monarch butterfly is from my garden.
Stop it. It's a 3D sticker.
Beautiful cards, Darnell, but my word that last leaf card is stunning...the colors surely represent what we have around us right now...unless the wind and this nasty rain today knock them all down before we get a chance to really enjoy their beauty! I have been thinking about you and so glad you posted that your location is safe from fires...at least right now. Such devastation, everywhere these days...indeed it is bringing us to our knees!
ReplyDelete2 brilliant beauties Darnell and love your rich and exotic use of those hot and spicy colours. Superb designs and so eye-catching. Glad to know the fires aren't affecting you and the family! Sending big hugs and as always thanks for joining us at Less is More this week xx
ReplyDeleteThat lovely daisy is just a delight, Darnell ... love how you picked out some of the colours from it for the frame ... and that well behaved butterfly from your garden is such a perfect addition! Stunning leaves ... goodness, I gasped ... you've so captured the richness and beauty of autumn with them ... they're spectacular! Will drop you a note shortly. LYAMYMASHYANTBTWF! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteWowzer, Darnell! Fall must inspire you because these are 2 of my all-time favorite cards! Both are stunning, but can't take my eyes off the second one! Very rainy & cool here today. So wish some of this moisture would go where the fires are burning. No words describe my feelings lately--too much horror of all kinds. Sending hugs, Greta
ReplyDeleteLOVE your cards Darnell, so original and amazing!
ReplyDeleteValerija xx
Two very beautiful cards Darnell the colours on both are stunning as always your so creative .......thank you for letting us know about the fires so pleased to read you and your family are safe and l feel for those who are sending lots of love x
ReplyDeleteThese really are two very stunning cards darnell...such wonderful colours. Love them. Glad you are safe from the fores.It is so sad all the devastation that has happened all over the world this year...lets hope things ...can only get better!! xxx
ReplyDeleteYour cards are both so wonderfully created and love the Fallish colors. And I am glad you are okay and I will say some prayers for sure. Stay safe now and I hope the fires don't come your way later on.
ReplyDeletegorgeous cards!
ReplyDeletehugs
So very glad you are alright x Stunning cards but the second one is truly amazing. So beautifully coloured and a blaze of colour x
ReplyDeleteWe have been watching the devastating events of the fires, at least the parts they are showing on our News, it is just so awful for those families....
ReplyDeleteYour cards are both beautiful, I love the gorgeous colours of the flower on the first one and I do love the leaves on the second, with their stunning autumnal colours... abssolutely beautiful!! Hugs, Annie xxx
So sorry to hear of the disaster of fire in your zone!! I hate nature destruction and pray for humans and wildlife... :(
ReplyDeleteYou cards are stunning as always, such lovely daisy, great result with that technique!!! And the light blue frame makes it pops!! Adorable also the second one card, these delicate squares matches so well with the warm, vibrant leaves!
Two lovely cards - gorgeous colours on both of them. Great framing on the first one, and I love the platinum heat embossing on the second. Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Watercolour with the second card!
ReplyDeleteWOW! You've taken the lovely colours of nature and translate them in two stunning cards! The daisy is beautiful and how wonderful that a wee monarch has joined it on the stage! Your leaves...breath-taken-away at the vibrant, rich autumn palette! All that's missing is a frame; I'm certain the lucky person receiving it will have it on display in no time! Yes, the fires in your region are heart-wrenching, as are all the disasters of late. We were enveloped in smoke and haze most of the summer; I can empathize completely! Stay inside! Sending prayers to those in need...
ReplyDeleteHugs and love~c
PS. Did my shopping! THANK YOU! C9 products on their way!!
Your framed flower is so beautiful! Love the contrast colour frame. Your leaf card is wonderful - awesome colouring with those gorgeous autumnal shades! I am so glad you are all ok and am sending positive vibes to all affected by the horrendous fires. Hugs xxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteI love fall colors and these cards are absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have been sending prayers to California.I know that horrid smell that makes you stay inside. It literally keeps you a prisoner. I hate that people are losing their homes, and the beauty of the areas are being gobbled up by the monster. I have family in CA and WA and they have had their share of fires as well this year. I pray the Lord sends the rain to stop the fires and that the fire fighters will continue with renewed strength. [Bunny]
So pleased that apart from the smoke you have not been affected by these awful fires Darnell, but feel for all the loss of life and homes, truly terrible! Let's hope it will not be too long before the situation is under control.... Two gorgeous Autumn cards and the daisy is so pretty using your Zigs straight to stamp and finished with that sweet butterfly, and then those beautifully coloured leaves which look so realistic, and I love the vertical sentiment. x
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to hear that you are well and safe. America is certainly taking its toll of the earths changing weather patterns.
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards and that first card is gorgeous. How long did poor old Hammy have to stand out in the garden with it until the butterfly landed? Good job it didn't land on his nose and cause him to sneeze. There'd be no petals left on that there flower!! Hugs Mrs A.
Oh my gosh, Dolly! Both your cards are BEE-U-TIFUL!!! Love the mix of warm tones for your flower --- gorgeous! And the leaves ... love the images and colours. Great work on both cards.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that you are not directly effected by the fires. I was thinking about you last night and ready to call today. :) What a horrific situation for so many. Lost lives, lost homes, lost spirits. I pray that the firefighters can get it under control soon. Lolly xx
I can see why both the stamps you used today are your favorites Darnell! I love the colors you used on that Daisy...you really are an artist!! And your leaf card...oh my, it is absolutely GORGEOUS!! And I'm glad to hear you are safe from the fires! So much devastation and my heart just breaks for all those going through it. Almost hate to turn the tv on anymore! Take care and have a wonderful weekend my friend!! :0)
ReplyDeleteOh, Darnell!!! Your cards are stunning - I adored the colors on your first card - you truly captured the colors of autumn, from the colors of the leaves to the bright vivid skies. And your second card just blew me over like the wind blowing the leaves off the trees.... Wow, the embossing is stunning and I love the vertical sentiment.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear that you, the Mister and Hammy are safe and sound. My heart and prayers go out to all that are affected and are fighting the fires on the West, as well as those still suffering from the hurricane in Puerto Rico and VI. :(
I was just getting ready to send you an email and thought I would stop here first...I'm so glad you and your family are doing ok...Sending my thoughts and prayers to all those affected by the fires!
ReplyDeleteYour Monarch butterfly is from your garden? I'm so impressed, Darnell...it's so pretty, and it works beautifully with this gorgeous bloom! I can see why it's your favorite! So happy you entered this card in the challenge at ATCAS :) I don't remember how you colored the leaves previously, but you've done a great job bringing them to life with your Ziggies! The autumn colors are so striking and I love the font on your sentiment...Another lovely work of art!
Stay safe, my friend! And thanks for all the fabulous eye candy! Have a great weekend!
I’m happy to hear that you and the Mister are safe. I can’t believe how fast and wide those fires spread! Prayers for all those who have lost loved ones and for those who still don’t know. The pictures are unbelievable. I can’t imagine how bad the smoke must be.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love the beautiful flower card and the leaves are stunning!
I'm thankful that you're safe Darnell. So much sadness in our world. Many many prayers are needed for sure. On a happier note, your cards are beautiful. I adore the amazing colors you achieved on your flower!!
ReplyDeleteYou make the prettiest cards! Mthe se are gorgeous! Glad you are all right......these fires are just heartbreaking....
ReplyDeleteStunning cards Darnell especially the second one, so glad you and your family are safe from the fires it must be very frightening
ReplyDeleteHugs Kaz xx
Darnell. these are two amazing cards, I love the direct to stamp colours you used for the first. The blue adds such a beautiful colour to the neutral earthy tones. the second card looks so pretty with the platinum embossing powder. Love thee cards :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are safe from the horror of those fires! My heart breaks with every news report.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are so pretty. I especially like your Thanksgiving card. So you actually colored the heat-embossed leaves with your Zigs?? And that doesn't ruin your markers?
So very pleased to hear you are okay Darnell. There are so many disasters both man made and natural around the world just now, it feels like we're living in some kind of Dante's inferno. Every day we awaken to something dreadful happening somewhere.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautifully designed cards, I love Autumn, favourite season. Your colours are fabulous, love both of the cards, the first one is lovely with that blue frame, but the second one is so rich in colours and the leaves are wonderful. Take care, Kate x
Both cards are stunners, in some of my very favourite colours too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a mess the world is in at the moment - we poor normal (ish) people are wedged between the planet on one hand and the powers that be on the other, what chance do we have? Thank goodness for crafting, it takes my mind off everything!
Jane
I'm drooling over your cards again Darnell - especially the all fall down one - there, now you have the ear worm again :-)
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
I'm really pleased to hear that you and the family are safe from the fires....what a tragedy it has been and how brave are the people trying to contain it.
ReplyDeleteHugs LLJ xxxx
Beautiful Autumn cards Darnell ..... love the leaf, the colours are stunning. Pleased to hear that you and your family are safe from the devastating fires .... thinking of you xx
ReplyDeleteTwo stunning cards Darnell. So glad to here that you are safe and unharmed by the fires. Seems hard to believe that the beautiful countryside that hubby and I were driving through earlier this year is gone. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Hi Darnell, So glad you aren't being effected by the terrible fires.
ReplyDeleteThe cards are lovely.
You stay safe. Sue
So happy to know you and your family are safe Dee! I was worried about you all. It's terrible for all the families involved and all the emergency services of course too.Thoughts and prayers for everyone! Hope the fires stop soon and it can all be over.Now onto your fabulous cards, they always blow me away, you are so very talented Dee. I love both of them, so lovely to see that pretty coloured daisy and the lovely Autumn leaves one too.Thanks for sharing with us over at 'The Flower Challenge again too.Stay safe ;) hugs Vee xx
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear you, the Mister and hammy are all OK.
ReplyDeleteNow your cards are lovely - like the unique colour mix of the first one.
Your cards are absolutely stunning Darnel... And that picture of the rain on the leaves, well that how it looks here right now. I know we complain a lot about the rain but better that than the terrible fires your state is enduring. My thoughts are with everyone and I'm glad to know that you are safe... Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you are all safe and well Darnell. Yesterday after seeing the devastation on the news I paid a visit to Google to find out more news about your area, so I am so glad to see your post today! I cannot imagine how all these people are coping with the devastation of these fires! Of course I am sending positive thoughts to all!
ReplyDeleteLove your inky Autumnal creations today especially your fall leaves masterpiece, it almost looks like you could pick those leaves right up off the card. I am also mesmerized by the autumn leaves in water gizmo, I could look at that all day!
Stay safe and well my friend Hugs Lottie xx
OMG!! your cards are beautiful!! I love, love,love the fall leaves one. Glad you all are alright with the fires out there. I have a cousin that lives there and she said that the fires are about 3 miles from her.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell I am Very pleased to here you and your family are ok we saw it on the news last night my heart goes out to those who have lost their lives their families and all those affected Andrea x
ReplyDeleteOops forgot to say the cards are stunning I love autumnal colours I think it’s my favourite season your leaves are beautiful an amazing card and loved the flower with butterfly I wasn’t fooled that it came from the garden ....honest!.... hugs andrea🤗x
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much for the update, Darnell! I hope they can get a handle on the fires. How scary and sad! Oh golly, I so dislike those Santa Anas (or Devil Winds) What a visual delight these cards are. Wonderful colors of fall. So rich and vibrant. You got me on the butterfly comment. I knew it was a sticker on the card, but thought I missed one nearby. LOL You are a hoot! We had a huge number of Painted Ladies migrate through our neck of the woods. So many flitting and fluttering around. I guess there was a huge boom of them. Everywhere you looked it seemed you saw them. Very cool. We did have a snow storm on Monday and even after that I saw a few. Hope you stay safe! Hugs!
ReplyDeletePraying you stay safe. And as always the cards are beautiful xoxox
ReplyDeleteThese cards are both stunning. I drooled when I saw the first one. I love it so much and the leaves are just beautiful. Wowser! I had already posted this am when I saw your post and my heart is right there in California. It is heartbreaking. I keep watching the map and knew it isn't where you are but I do worry about your family. It dominates our news and keeps us updated as to location. New winds today so I hope they can start containing it.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear, that you are safe, but I'm sad to know, that so many people are not safe from inferno.
ReplyDeleteThank you for two fantastic cards in fall colours. Leaves are super coloured.
Have a nice weekend,
Sonja
Two of my favorite things in one post, Darnell. Daisies, my favorite flower and I love the artsy watercolor look of yours. And Fall colors. I can see why you love that stamp. The only thing better than that stamp is the beautiful way you've colored it. I'm so relieved that you and your family are safe and my heart and prayers go out to those who have been affected.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Darnell!! Love them both! The 3D butterfly sticker is so cool!
ReplyDeleteBoth these cards are such a delight, Darnell. Your watercoloured leaves look amazing. The colours are so vibrant and warm. Love the design. Thank you for joining us this week at Less is More.
ReplyDeleteps. happy to hear you are safe... sending hugs and well wishes to all those affected.
Trina xx
Being able to use the same stamp multiple times and achieve different looks is a sign of true talent, Darnell. These cards definitely say "Fall" and are so beautiful. It is heart breaking to hear about the devastation from those fires.
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards Darnell, but I agree with Colleen that second one is so stunning. So glad to hear that you and your family are not in harms way.
ReplyDeleteDarnell, these are both beautiful! Love them!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're all okay from the fires.
Hugs
Oh, that flower is beautiful and, have mercy, those leaves!!! Fall colors are my favorite. That stamp -- WOW! It's good to see the old favorites come out. Your coloring is incredible. I'm glad to hear you're not threatened by the horrible wild fire down there. I just feel sick watching the news. This one has claimed far too many lives and homes. We had to put up with the smoke from our fires here for a while, but things are much more under control now. We've had some rain which really helped. Okay, one last look at your cards... I'm in awe!
ReplyDeleteFabulous Fall cards! I especially love the fall leaves one for our challenge at Cards in Envy. So pretty! Thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, Darnell. My favourite is the second one, the coloured leaves are just stunning!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're safe from the fires, although it sounds like where you live is not very pleasant at the moment, with the smell and the smoky haze. Thinking of all those affected by the horrendous fires, hopefully it won't be too long before the fires are under control. xx
Two stunning beauties, Darnell ! I'm totally in love with your daisy and I love this technique (have to try it !) ! And these leaves seem so real, your colouring is just amazing ! You rock with these hot and spicy colours ! So glad to read that you and your family are safe, it's so horrible what happens with these fires ! Take care ! Thanks for sharing and for playing along at Less is More !
ReplyDeleteThose leaves are the bomb!! After getting my fill of those amazing colors on the leaves my eyes turned to the greeting and....I blinked and looked again and again. I sat a moment and tried to talk myself out of what I thought I was seeing. So went and looked up the set of greetings and the misspelling wasn't in the set on the store sight. Came back and looked again. And again. Am I just a dork, and not seeing correctly? I do not see the 's' in thanksgiving in the sentiment on your card. Does that mean you have the 'one in a million' set...could it be worth some money??? :) Whatever the story is....both your cards give a good dose of what is lovely about this time of year.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Lu C
Love, love, love that daisy and the colors on this card, Dolly! And those leaves are worthy of a VT forest! Wonderful coloring and I love the platinum embossing! xoxo
ReplyDeleteDarnell, Glad to hear you haven't been affected by those terrible fires. So sad. As for the cards, these colors are gorgeous! Love that light blue accent next to those rich fall colors. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Darnell. Love your Zig watercoloured daisy card and so pleased you joined us at CAS Watercolour with your beautiful heat embossed colored with Zigs leaves card. TFS my friend. Hugs
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are just sensational and I love how you water colored the flower in the first one! GOR-JUS!!! Love the embossed leaves on the 2nd too - you rocked the autumn cards this time around!
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are delightful! Love the color combos on them! Beautifully colored!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you don't live in wine country and are safe from the terrible fires!
Oh my !! These are absolutely beautiful cards !
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely stunning fall card. The colours are beautiful against the white and platinum. I never even noticed the boo boo. They just have had a bad printing batch, so good for the Ton to replace it. I'm enjoying all the autumn cards I see in blog land at the moment. Reminds me it's not just about the rain! Xx
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how our eyes automatically fill in the letters? I never even noticed the missing 's' until I read your ETA.... So while I'm on that card, let me say how much I love it! Those leaves are gorgeous, and your watercoloring is impeccable! Totally loving every single color you've got here. You're a wiz! And I do love that watercolored daisy. You just know how to work magic with that stamp!! Sweet little butterfly, and that frame around your panel is perfection itself. Gorgeous. Bil is up now, so I have to run...ugh. Miss you. Talk Tue or Wed? xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDeletebkb
Love that water colored flower it turned out gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are fabulous Darnell! That first one looks like a beautiful watercolour painting with the technique you used! And that second one looks so rich with the metallic heat embossing and rich russet colours! Have a wonderful weekend! Love & Hugs. Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteMy Card Attic
So glad you are out of the hot zone, though the ash and haze can be horrifying too. You have beautiful fall cards here today. I love the blue frame on your flower it does brighten it a bit. YOur leaves are beautifully colored as well. Sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE both of your beautiful cards, Darnell. Each is a lovely representation of Fall.
ReplyDeleteThe devastation of those fires is heart wrenching and watching the news is so scary. My thoughts and many prayers go out to all affected. Happy to hear you are not in the fire zone, but I know the smoke is horrific for miles around!
I love your gold embossed leaf card. So pretty! thanks for joining us at Cards in Envy.
ReplyDeleteTwo stunning cards, but that first one is just divine. Sending lots of vibes for those affected by the fires x
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous pair of cards Darnell and the autumn colouring is superb. I can see why you love these stamps so much and you certainly show them off beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you are staying safe from the fires. It is heartbreaking to see so many lives shattered by these ongoing disasters.
Hugs
Carol x
What lovely cards!! I am glad that you are only affected by the smoke but oh those fires scare me!! I know a lot of people that are being affected by them and every time I open up FB I cringe at what I might find. I adore your first card with the pretty flower but I LOVE the second card with the leaves. Just oh so STUNNING!!! And I never would have noticed that sentiment boo boo either!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you haven't been impacted by the devastating fires Darnell.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards especially the daisy! Don't you just love the Rubbernecker daisy stamps and you certainly created a beauty. Take care, hugs Zelda
Hi Darnell
ReplyDeleteDidn't think you were in the same area but comforting to know that you are safe.
Two wonderful cards. Your colour combos are always right on the money.
You could enter these at MAWTT as the current challenge is Autumn/Fall.
Take care.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards with beautiful colors! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards Darnell! Just love the fall colours and you make your cards look effortless and perfect as always. How funny that the "S" was missing. Hopefully you will get your new stamp soon and I am very happy to hear that you and your family are not affected by the fires. Honestly the world seems to be imploding before our eyes. So much sad news around right now. Its hard to escape it. I need a hammy to distract me and cover my ears and eyes. Sorry for being so absent, had a load of stuff going on with the 30 day colouring challenge, bad wrists and a whole host of other rubbish stuff going on. Hopefully normaility will resume soon! Higs, or even Hugs Lisa xx
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely cards!! I just love the combination of colors on that gorgeous flower. Wonderful. So glad you joined us this week at FMS! And I'm truly relieved to hear of your safety. The entire area has been in my thoughts and I am grateful for pieces of good news.
ReplyDeleteDelightful cards! Really pretty work. Thanks for playing at MAWTT and I'm pleased you are all safe from the fires. Jx
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, Darnell! I bought the Rubbernecker one a couple of years ago after seeing what you did with it, and I have the Stamps Happen stamp, which is languishing in my stash. You’ve inspired me to dig it out :). Glad to know you and your family are safe.
ReplyDeleteA bit late commenting since we were on a short break...
ReplyDeleteLove the colours on both your cards! And love how the frame on the dirst let the flower pop as much as how the embossed fits in with the leave colours!
Love this season for the colours, but always a bit sad that summer is over... Hugs, Gerrina
Both cards are absolutely gorgeous! Love the beautiful colors! Thank you for joining us at the ATSM challenges. Hope to see you again soon. Nandini, DT
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are beautiful! I love the colours! My favourite is the first, I love the technique you've used to stamp the flower, it makes such a beautiful effect. Thanks for sharing your creations with us at MAWTT, Emma (DT)
