Hello, Stamplings!
Welcome to Day Nine of our ten-day challenge to USE NBUS! For all the details on the history, rules, and prizes, please go here. If you have a card to enter today, the linky tool is below!
So here's the thing. Ahem. I did not excel in math in school. In fact, I had to take remedial math as a senior in order to graduate. In every other class I was an A student, but with my good looks and personality, God didn't think it would be fair if I excelled at everything!
Hammy and I were having our chocolate chip croissants and hot cocoa with brandy for breakfast, as we are wont to do, and we were admiring again all the excellent creations in the gallery and talking about what cards to make for the last two days.
Hammy went back to day one to remind himself of what had been posted when he suddenly coughed up a chocolate chip, which hit me square in the nose!
"What the what?!" I exclaimed, looking up to see him gesticulating wildly at the screen. I went around the table to see what had his carrots in a blender. As I leaned over, he pointed to the dates and times and whispered, "I think you have this thing set for eleven days!"
First I counted out the days, then he did, then he started smirking, and then we checked with The Mister, who further confirmed it and then he started smirking, too, and by then Hammy was rolling around clutching his sides until he laughed so hard he rolled right off onto the floor.
He's okay.
So how about that?! I'm delighted to announce there will be an eleventh day ~ let's just call it a BONUS DAY ~ to my September 2017 NBUS Challenge!
In celebration of that, and the fact that the entries in the gallery have gone over 250 (whoot!), I think I need to add five more $25 gift certificates* to the list of prizes, donchu agree?! You're welcome, but, no, really, thank YOU for being a follower and a friend and for playing along and using your NBUS!!
And now for a card!
And real quick:

And now for a card!
This NBUS sediment is one of my faves! It's from Verses Rubber Stamps. The bowl is from Stamps By Judith, which I watercolored with my Ziggies and an aqua brush. I hand drew the cheerios and the schparkly fruit loop, which is glossed to high heaven!
Challenges
Challenges
- Addicted to CAS: Your Favorite Stamp.
- CASology: Fortune. (That sediment sounds like a cool fortune from a fortune cookie to me!)
- Less Is More: Watercolour.
And real quick:
Every time you think I can't make a more QACASer card, I fool ya! I spose I could have left off the ice cream cone ...!

Enjoy the challenge! No, seriously, enjoy!

I love your sediments & cute cards! Haha-that sounds like something I would do-miscount the days! I used to get so confused by story problems because I’d get distracted by the story! Thank you so much for entertaining us with yours and Hammy’s shenanigans and for these fabulous challenges that require us to use some of the schtuff we “have to have.” If I were to win I’d either like one of the gift certificates (to buy some adhesive to glue my billfold shut!) or the circle die with the dots (can’t remember the name).
ReplyDeleteLOVE your take on the CASology cue Darnell! Not only clever but beautifully executed!
ReplyDeleteWho needs to be good in math if you can make beautiful stuff like this!
That ice cream card made me :)
Thanks for joining us at CASology.
Hugs
Hannelie
Amazing how much wit and cuteness such a CAS card can convey! And I love the photo of Hammy
ReplyDeleteJane
Hi Darnell, Fab cards.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice day. Sue
I did so enjoy reading this hilarious post. Hope Hammy is OK after rolling off the table? Yey to the extra day and how generous are you? Two perfect cards today with very witty sentient...CAS perfection x
ReplyDeleteHow fun, a bonus day and two bonus cards! Yay for miscalculations! Loved your little intro story. So fun to see little Hammy!
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord that Hammy is alright. Kinda scary him rolling off. Although he should have contained himself. But I guess I couldn't have either so I shouldn't have said that.
ReplyDeleteCute card. Sometimes it's nice to be the fruit loop.
Thanks for the addition of the gift certificates. Very generous, indeed. [Bunny]
You might not have excelled in maths my Darnell my friend, but you obviously excelled in creative writing! I LOVE hearing your whacky stories about you and Hammy (may I say he looks just like Fonzie in that photo, all he needs is the leather jacket and motorcycle!) Another fabulous twosome and an extra day to enter another card! I'd better get a wriggle on! Have a great week! Love & Hugs. Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteMy Card Attic

We used to do that with Sunday afternoon tea cream cakes at boarding school - a much looked forward to weekly treat. There was a St Trinians style stampede to the table when the dining room doors were unlocked - to lick your finger and dab your favourite cake!

Yay! I finally squeezed in some time to play along with another FAB and successful NBUS challenge. Thank you SO much Darnell :) Hugs Bev x
ReplyDeleteYou did it again, Darnell. You put a big smile on my face with your sweet cards. Love them especially that sentiment on the ice-cream card. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteExtending for a bonus day and adding more GCs to your list of prizes? Wow, you are so awesome and so generous! But you know I would play along with or without prizes. 😉 I'm sure most, if not all participants, would feel the same way.
Have a fabulous day! 😘 Trina xx
Yes, a good hearty laugh is exactly what I need this morning as I watch the snow fall and hear the winds blow! Sheesh! Blech! Hammy snorting up a chocolate chip then rolling on the floor...oh my stars! Hilarious! Thrilled to discover that we have yet a couple more days to play; my NBUS pile is still gi-normous! Your generosity with the gift certificates: incredible! Oh...and your cards are awesome, too! Cones, cheerios and cutie-patootie ice cream...love these!
ReplyDeleteHugs and love~c
Such fun cards today! Your patience in drawing that many Cheerios is amazing and so very clever. I love the ice cream card, that is a good one. Being math challenged is okay, that's why they make calculators.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are so funny!!
ReplyDeleteAnd always great to see a bonus!!!
Think you will be so busy with all, but get so much great inspiration aswell... Think it is great that you organice this, but I am in for the fun and not just for the prices... I enjoy your posts and the great inspiration in the gallery!
Enjoy it all and slide softly into October! Hugs, Gerrina
There was me thinking I'd only got in with a day to spare... but I'm just happy I finally made it. Whew!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Em xoxo
Wow, I just entered #266! You crack me up! Love your CAS and QACASer cards today. You're a pretty darn good drawer of cereal. Those sentiments -- you've got a million of 'em!
ReplyDeleteTee heeee love the thumbs up hammy😂
ReplyDeleteSo cute. Love your card and your funny sentiments. I get a chuckle every time I read your blog.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed math and made straight A's, but we all have our favorites, right. :)
Fab cards Darnell, love the fruit loop one especially :)
ReplyDeleteHugs Kaz xx
Darnell, Love your cards today and the cute photo of hammy. I am so pleased to finally posted 2 cards today to your awesome #12 NBUS challenge my friend. Thank you for hosting another fun NBUS challenge. Hugs..
ReplyDeleteYour cards are brilliant and great an extra one to look forward to seeing xx
ReplyDeleteLike that Cheerio sentiment so much I think I'll purchase it...thank goodness the snark makers in the world. Adorable cards, of course, you gotta know I love CAS and QACAS. Good thing there's an additional day because I am woefully behind on cardmaking. Life keeps getting in the way.
ReplyDeleteDarnell I am back again, your challenge is fantastic. I find out that I have a lot of stuff that I never used before, Thanks for fun.
ReplyDeleteHugs Tamara
Phew, I didn't think I was going to make the challenge. So many things just kept getting in the way of me getting my card finished in time, but I've made at long last. I've been loving the cards that you've been making with your NBUS stash.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
A simply stunning CAS card Darnell for our Watercolour challenge at Less is More and there doesn't have to be lots of watercolour to hit the 'high notes' at LIM. We just love the elegant and simple style and your delicate colours work so beautifully with the image. What a fun old sentiment too. Sorry I've still not played along with NBUS - I guess I mustn't have anything to play with!!!!! hee hee! Will see if I get the chance but life is just hectic right now. Thanks for playing along at LIM as always. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteAch du scheisse! Call me crazy, but I'm ROFL... "could have left off the ice cream cone". Had to stop by to see what was up this round of NBUS. Caught wind of it but with jet lag then grape harvesting I'm just now getting around to cards. Kudos to you for this mammoth effort. Again. And hugs.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, that does sound like a fortune from a cookie! Absolutely adorable card and perfect for the CASology challenge, too! Thanks for playing along with us!
ReplyDeleteYour generosity is overwhelming. And, your truly awesome cards with the humor injected are as well. I really love visiting and glad to see all survived the flying chocolate chip. LOL
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear Hammy is OK! Love both of these cards - but especially the first. I think I'm the Fruit Loop.
ReplyDeleteFirstly: The bonus day sounds perfect to me,I've been feeling missing out with no time to enter your September NBUS challenge... Now I might make it! Woo hoo! Owning NBUS is not a problem, just the time. ;) Then, your wonderful CAS card for us at LIM: so fun! I love the sweet sentiment and your coloring goes perfectly hand in hand with it... That fruit loop really pops from the design and your hand-drawing looks amazing! Well done! Thanks for joining us at Less Is More!
ReplyDeleteGive Hammy a kiss and cuddle from me Missy D as you just made me laugh out loud which is a miracle today, it's been a rough one!
ReplyDeleteDo you know what Darnell you are one of the nicest peeps out there, you are awesome Karen x
I am so glad it happens to you too! Shame on Hammy for smirking - his time will come - lol! Love the card and another wonderful sentiment Darnell! Hugs, Annie xx
ReplyDeletewonderful cards
ReplyDeletehugs
LOL....i had to take remedial math in my senior year too. we're just too creative to deal with all that linear stuff. Thanks for the NBUS challenge. I've been gone gone gone but hope to make up for that over the next couple of weeks and then i'll be gone again.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the "no understand math" business too! That's why they made calculators of course.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards. CAS and perfect!
Lynn
Oh myyyy, Darnell, you are histerical! I love your fun and unique cards ~ where on this crafty earth do you find these stamps?!
ReplyDeleteYour NBUS challenge is both amazing and enabling...All of the cards/projects posted
have me checking out on-line stores waaaaay too much! Thanks a bunch, girlfriend :-D
That fruit loop card is adorable! You come up with some of the cutest cards! Hey maybe I have a teeny tiny chance if you are adding more gift certificates.! LOL
ReplyDeleteHammy to the rescue again. I hope he's paying for the new GCs. ;) Darling fruit loop card, Darnell. I love that sentiment too.
ReplyDeleteWho cares about Math ? It was also my pet peeve at school ! But never mind, what we remember is that you are the queen of the sentiments for this NBUS challenge ! They all are so funny, just as you ! And who will complain since we have a bonus day !! Love your CAS card for LIM, this bowl of Cherrios look so yummy and your watercoloring is so perfect ! It's always a pleasure to see your cards in our gallery. Thanks so much for sharing and for playing along at Less is More ! hugs xx
ReplyDeleteThese sentiments are too funny! Love them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the bonus day!
I wouldn't have guessed! But math isn't my best subject and these days I don't seem to know if it's AM or PM or even what day it is most of the time! I think I need a Hammy to keep me straight! Two more fun creations, my friend! You always make me smile!
ReplyDeleteTwo fun cards, Darnell! Now, when I thought I knew all your skills... bam! You surprise me with a bowl of handmade cheerios :D! However, your second card is just too funny :).
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Cris
P.S. - Please send my regards to Hammy, as well.
Oh my goodness! I am giggling at your witty story and very happy for the bonus day as I haven't made anything yet so I may still find the time! Big hugs and hooray for the NBUS Challenges!
ReplyDeleteIt's me again, like a bad penny! Would love to be in the hat for a gift voucher please :)
ReplyDeleteLove
Di xx
Another fun post and love your hand crafted cheerios and prettily coloured fruit on the top, then your ice cream cornet, and what a clever mega CAS card, and two wonderful sentiments also. How great that there is one more day for the challenge than you had planned and very generous additional prizes too. Mathematics was not one of my best subjects either and Hammy definitely seems to have it worked out so perhaps he should get a gold star..lol. Thank you for running a really great challenge Darnell. x
ReplyDeleteI love Fruit Loops, yes, I do (haven't had them in years though)!! Love the fun cards! and YAY for one more day!
ReplyDeleteNo cone!!! I wish you had, just to read the reactions! I love your cards - so CAS and perfect! I've been away for a few days, so I might just be able to enter a couple more cards now we have an extra day!
ReplyDeleteLove your funny cards, Darnell. They will definitely bring a big grin to someone's face. Wish I could enter your current challenge, but life has been carrrrazy since returning from our month-long trip. Way too much catching up to do, and I can't seem to get out of first gear!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved reading your post today - it had me laughing out loud!! As did your two foodie cards! I'm glad there is a bonus day as that gives me time to get a third card done!
ReplyDeleteThis photo of Hammy gave me just the smile I needed after the horrific events in Las Vegas. And then there are the sentiments on the cards, too much fun!!
ReplyDeleteYea for another day!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, you crack me up! Thank you for the brilliant explanation of why you are not so good at math. Great reasoning---with your wit and artistic talent, it certainly wouldn't be fair for you to be a math whiz, too! Your logic helps with my own self-esteem. God saw it fit for me to marry an accountant and to teach fourth grade reading, so my math skills (or lack thereof) can certainly celebrate the 11th day of NBUS.
ReplyDeleteDarling cards, by the way! Love the humorous sentiments!!!!
I suck at math but now I'm a Credit Counsellor. I was always great in budgeting though which is more about keeping track, living within ones means and having a calculator. Hammy looks good and so happy. Love both your cards and they are both funny. Now, what does NBUS mean??
ReplyDeleteHurrah--an extra day! I must confess--I had to re-do math the summer after I finished First Grade!! We've done OK in spite of those early trials, I say! Cute, fun cards today, Darnell! The last 2 NBUS challenges I've meant to use one particular stamp set that still sits unopened, so maybe now I can with that extra day!
ReplyDeleteWell I'm a part of the math-begone club and so I didn't even count the number of NBUS challenge days to begin with! I only do math (and counting definitely counts as math) when I'm not sure I have enough change to pay for my candy bar. More days to create and dig out those NBUS goodies is always a plus in my book! Smart little Hammy keeps you on track I see! Loving the hand-drawn Cheerios!!
ReplyDeleteFab cards, Darnell! Love the fruit loop sentiment, and well done on the hand-drawn cheerios. And the ice-cream card - brilliant!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your winner Darnell
ReplyDeletecute and clever card for CASology
and your coloring is super B
love the simplicity of this adorable CAS card
I made one with fortune cookie and so happy being on the same winner page with you a talented lady named Darnell
hugs
Monika
CONGRATS on your well deserved win at CASology, Darnell! Your card is fabulous and so 'You' with your amazing sense of humor! Way to go...Hugs, Barb
ReplyDeleteOf course I had to stop back to thank you for playing along with us at ATCAS! It's not every day that we get humorous cards with hand drawn Cheerios/Fruit Loops in the gallery, especially with a 'high gloss' finish :)
ReplyDeleteAs always, it's so much fun to stop by your blog to see your fabulous cards and hear the latest on you and "Hammy"...he sure is a cutie-pie, Darnell, and I'm so glad he's ok after his fabulous breakfast! By the way, I stink at Math...isn't that why calculators were invented?
Hugs, Barb
Oh my gosh Darnell, I had a good laugh with these two for sure. I especially love your first one. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteWell, these two had me giggling away and yay for the bonus day!
ReplyDeleteYou just crack me up with your funny blog posts and cards! And you move me with your generosity!
ReplyDeleteGood thing you have Hammy to keep you on the straight and narrow, Darnell ... so pleased he's ok! Brilliant cards ... LOVE the stand out fruit loop (and so did CASology ... congratulations on your top spot!) ... and that ice cream ... it's perfectly CAS and CASily perfect ... in image and sentiment! LYASMYMAIBBAS! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteWhat's an extra day between friends?
Love the ice cream card in particular as its just the sort of thing Mr Duck does lol!
Ang x
Did giggle about the extra day! More prizes! You are way too generous! Two adorably funny cards! xxx
